This was a great little find. We were actually going to another place right down the road, but there was no parking and we were in 2 cars. A quick telp search, pulled this place up. So what the heck, let's try it out. When we pulled up, I actually thought they were closed. The exterior seemed a bit nostalgic. Anyway, we went in, were greeted by a very nice server and seated. Our server , who greeted us, was very friendly and prompt. We put in our drink orders and ordered Onionrings and boudin balls as appetizers. The onionrings were good enough, some were heavily clumped together, maybe "frozen"?. Anyway, the non clumpy ones were good. Boudin balls, my girlfriend loves them, these were a bit smaller than what we normally get, but these also were good. I ordered the Jambalaya pasta dish, my girlfriend ordered a cheeseburger "no bread" and our friend ordered the shrimp salad. My pasta was okay, I'm not into spicy food, but this dish could of used a little more kick. It was well loaded with sausage, shrimp and such. Our friend's salad was huge, she had to get the rest to go. I should also mention, the interior was great. We loved the decor and how they used old building materials to design the look. Especially the old windows. I would consider this a hole in the wall place, but would make a great regular spot to go to. One could almost drive by and not know its here. read more

After visiting a popular bakery up the road we decided to try this new place. We are traveling foodies from Philly (where we have pretty awesome food). Let me keep this short but accurate. The food is AMAZING! We had a prime rib sandwich (which was a special) and the shrimps and grits. The sandwich was perfectly executed with great quality meat and bread. This is the first time I've had grits that didn't need any additional seasoning and there was seafood in every bite. And the service....our server Laurie was super friendly. She came to NOLA after Katrina to help and fell in love. Here she is 13 years later. The host Alicia came over to chat and she was also super awesome and accommodating. People always recommend the places that been around for a long time but this new place is the best casual dining restaurant I have eaten at in NOLA. read more

So, I don't usually blast restaurants, however, last night I was shocked at Bienvenue bar and Grill on Hickory. Me, my husband, and my mom went to dinner there about 7pm last night. We wanted to try a few different things so we ordered 2 appetizers to share and each got an entree we were gonna sample and share. The food was delicious and the waitress was okay. However, they brought my husband the wrong side with his meal, so I informed the waitress. She took the wrong side back and a few minutes later a man, who I am pretty sure was the owner, came to the table making comments about how the side couldn't possibly be for our table because we had so much food. It was quite offensive to me. He implied that 3 plump people had ordered too much food. It was extremely rude in my opinion. We will NOT ever be back there. We only went there because Seither's Seafood was closed tonight. Definitely regretted eating there. It's a shame!! Do better, Bienvenue!! We took home 4 to go boxes of food, so clearly we weren't going to eat it all there, which isn't really any of his business as we are paying customers. it was disgustingly RUDE!!! read more

I've been to Bienvenue countless times. I usually get the fried oyster platter and have the oysters fried hard. They rarely disappoint. The mac and cheese is really good. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Other things I've had that are really good is the red beans and rice and the shrimp and grits. I usually don't get either of those from restaurants because I make them better and I'm usually disappointed. But for a restaurant both of those are good and I would get them again. And the drive thru is everything! read more

This is a brunch review: Basic, at best. We had a mimosa, a Bloody Mary, the Cajun Benedict, and the crab cake Benedict. It was decent. Nothing terribly wrong. The place was quiet. The outside is so inviting to the eye, but the inside could use some sprucing up to make it more aesthetically pleasing. The server was wonderful. Very attentive, approachable, and welcoming. I wish I had more positive things to say about the food. Not somewhere I would flock to with out of town guests. read more

I have been to Bienvenue many times. I used to love and enjoy the environment, but after my experience last night, I will never be back there again. The wait staff has always been kind and hospitable. They were wonderful last night, as well; however, the GM, Jimmy, is extremely rude and disrespectful. He was cursing loudly about the influx of food orders being placed. I watched him deliver food to another table and he threw the plate down on the table. I was appalled to see this kind of behavior towards his customers. I also witnessed a woman walk up to place a to-go order, and he said something along the lines of, "Sure, go ahead, put in another f**** to-go order." I continued to watch his interactions with his staff members, and I am surprised he has any servers left. He treats them horribly, cursing at them and talking down to them. There is no surprise here on why Bienvenue is short staffed. Jimmy has absolutely no customer service skills. There is no reason to treat your paying customers this way or your staff members. I will not support an establishment that sees a person like him fit to run the business. read more

We ordered the Shrimp Platter and Fish Platter. While it looked great when they brought it out, unfortunately it didn't have any flavor! It tasted like it was not seasoned or marinated and dipped in plain flour that wasn't seasoned. The Sweet Potato fries were great and the French Fries were great and for desert the Cheesecake was good! I can't speak for the other hot foods so maybe those are better. Our waitress was nice. If your looking for a good Fried Seafood Platter, I wouldn't go there but possibly in the future I would try something different. read more

Needed to find a place that would seat 18 people together and Bienvenue was great to work with. The table was set up when we arrived for lunch and the service was fantastic. I still don't know how they managed to get everyone's food out at the same time and everyone's order still be hot! Drinks got refilled and everyone had a blast. The Cuban is always fantastic. Several folks around me ordered the Patty Melt and said it was awesome. They will definitely be getting repeat business from a lot of people who attended lunch there today! read more

If you want to be treated poorly, then this is the place for you. Management and staff aren't just unfriendly they will make you feel uncomfortable with how rude they are. It's a shame that the food is good, because I'll never be back due to how poorly i was treated. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to eat, there are so many great restaurants in the city with real hospitality and community- this place is not one of them. This place is awesome! It brings the flavor of New Orleans to Harahan, and there's not one thing I've tried that I haven't liked. Been there about 10 times already! My favorites so far are Prime Rib and the Hangover Burger. I also love the Mango daiquiri and the different flavor combination daiquiris that the bartenders can make for you (just ask!). The French fries are also amazing, I'll order them separately if my meal doesn't come with it or if I'm just there for a drink and snack. The service staff has been excellent as well, everyone is friendly and attentive. I prefer to sit at the bar than at a table, but as the weather improves I can't wait to try out the outdoor deck area. read more

Wait staff & service are excellent. The food was good but is overpriced for the size of the portions. Our bill for three people was almost $91!! 2 fountain soft drinks ($5) We ordered the boudin balls ($8), they were excellent. Great size, lightly breaded, and lots of boudin. They came with two sauces, but we were never told what the sauces were, or what was in them. I ordered the Canal Street Club Wrap ($10) with no tomatoes or honey mustard. My wrap arrived with no bacon or cheese. One half of the wrap was literally ham and turkey only, and the other half had pickles which according to the menu aren't included in the wrap, and were not requested. The fries were cooked perfectly, but it was a very small portion of fries. My son ordered the 8oz. Angus burger ($12), and he had no complaints. He got fries as his side, and again they were cooked perfectly, but the portion was small. My mom ordered the Seafood Stuffed Chicken ($22). The chicken was tender and juicy, but the chicken breast was small, and they only give you six small medallions (slightly larger than a half dollar coin) of stuffed chicken. Her portion of grits was also laughable for the price. We're talking MAYBE ¼ cup of cooked grits. We also ordered 3 Chocolate Chocolate cakes ($8.50 each). Good, but extremely rich. More like a pie than a cake. It was 3 layers - the bottom was almost like fudge, the middle was like a mousse or pudding, and the top was whipped cream with a chocolate cookie crust. Definitely need an ice cold glass of milk to drink with it. For the size of the slice of cake, $4-$5 would have been more a more fitting price. read more

Excellent food and good drinks. I had the bang bang shrimp wrap and it was very very good. It has an apple pecan slaw in it that I was leery of at first but it was what made the wrap along with the tiger sauce. The blackberry jalapeño margarita was good but a little weak. My wife had a big easy wrap which had chicken red beans and rice. It was good but not as good as the shrimp wrap. She had a blue Hawaiian martini and a brunch punch which were both good. Drinks are pricey though. $9/ glass. Kids had burgers and a kids shrimp plate. They don't give you much fries though. Don't know if I'll be back with the whole family because lunch with 4 drinks cost over $100. That's pretty pricey for burger and wraps!!!! We spent that much the night before having a seafood dinner for 8 people somewhere else!!! read more

Went here a few months ago, it's okay. We went for breakfast and I wasn't too impressed and then we came back again for lunch and it was okay nothing special but the food was still Pleasant. Maybe the kitchen just had an off day when we went but I have also tried a few other of Scot Craig restaurants and they are okay. On 6/18/22 my wife & I were in the Elmwood area shopping picking up some items. We decided to go try this restaurant. It seemed busy and it was steak night. They were out of sweet tea as my wife & I drink this all the time. She ordered the fried green tomatoes and I ordered the steak special. The food came out and my Caesar salad was no where to be found. When my food was placed in front of me you could smell a weird smell like something was not right or not appetizing. I took a bite and it tasted as bad as the smell. This was not good so they took it back and remade it. I asked them to please find out where the odor/smell was coming from. Needless to say the second one was just as bad as the first one. Oh by the way the salad came out while the we're trying to correct the problem. Come to find out they are cooking steaks on a flat grill where everything else is being cooked so the smells and taste of the other foods are being cooked into my meat. Even the waitress said it did not smell good. My wife could believe how bad the smell was. This is not how you cook steaks! I am sorry this was truly a real bad experience. read more

I went to Bienvenue a few weeks ago with my fiancé and had the best experience! The atmosphere is very laid back, waiters were extremely friendly, and the food was delicious! I ordered the fried oyster poboy, and I have to say, one of the BEST I've had!! The portion of oysters that they put on the sandwich was very generous, and they tasted delicious! Not greasy at all. And the French bread was not too hard. Truly one of the best poboys I've had in the New Orleans area. Can't wait to go back! read more

First time for lunch. Had the catfish panni with sweet tea. The service was very good. However, I feel it is overpriced for the portions. I got barely a small handful of French fries with my sandwich, but they were tasty. The sandwich was good. Also, the sweet tea had a funny taste , so I would not get that again. And the tea was $2.50! I will give it another try because they are still a new restaurant and may still need to work out some kinks. read more
