Seither's is an almost institution in Harahan when it comes to getting your seafood fix. The food is always good; on our last visit I got a corn and shrimp bisque and a Rock n Roll Po'boy. Both were tasty. The Rock n Roll poboy is fried shrimp, avocado, spring mix, eel sauce, siracha and mayo. I got mine without the mayo. The atmosphere is basically a hole in the wall. Most of the time people sit outside but the street is pretty busy, so people are always driving by. Parking is pretty crappy as there aren't many places in the front but there is room in the back if people don't block you in. The inside isn't much on atmosphere. The bathroom door wouldn't lock, and it looked like some sort of bad science experiment exploded. Don't come here for the atmosphere (not romantic), come here for the food or get it to go. I will be back once crawfish prices come down. read more

Ate at Seither's on a Thursday night and was welcomed by a band playing live music. We chose to eat outside. The service was great and the staff were friendly. Started off with the crawfish rangoons as an appetizer and they were incredibly flavorful. Wow, I cannot believe I am just now trying this place. It's a great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating super busy during Lent Fridays. I haven't seen a unique menu like this one in a long time. I ordered the Rock & Roll poboy sub blackened shrimp. This was one of my favorite dishes I have tried in a really long time. It was just a burst of flavor with every bite and all the sauces paired so well together. There is still another ten things on the menu that I would love to try. I just really appreciate a restaurants that has such unique menu items and foods that would be nearly impossible to cook or make for yourself at home. Great service for a Saturday night dinner in this small, intimate location - glad to have an indoor table, which they rearranged to accommodate for us. Husband, myself, cousin & her husband settled in with crawfish rangoons ($17) and drinks. The rangoons should be illegal. :) Served with a sweet chili dipping sauce, they are about 2" big, shaped like open envelopes and very light. SO good! Husband ordered street corn ($8) & shared with cousin who pronounced it amazing. Dinner was: (Cousin) Blackened Shrimp & Avocado salad ($17), which she devoured. Kind of a New Orleans neighborhood type restaurant. That is a great thing to say about any place to eat. We are famous for places like Antoine's, Court Of Two Sisters, Galatoire's and Arnaud's but if your budget is not in the mood for a big hit try Seither's. The food is amazing but but overly fancy, the portions are generous and for the quality the prices are surprisingly affordable. A great place when the weather is good, they often have live music as a little lagniappe. Not quite a five in my book but if they had 4 1/2 that would be more accurate. Took the in-laws from out of town and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was pretty busy but we quickly got a table outside in front of the stage. I was a little worried the band would be too loud but they weren't, we enjoyed the music but were still able to carry on a conversation. I started with the Mac and cheese and I gotta say it's some of the best I've had - ever. So very cheesy yet mild and perfect. It was a little strange to have to add corn, potatoes and sausage to my crawfish because those normally come with, but I added them anyway. I also added shrimp, they gave me so many I couldn't eat them all, flavored will too although I prefer more spicy. Husband has blacked red fish and loved it. I recommend on a nice day, indoor dinner was pretty small so I'm not sure what the experience would be when it's not nice outside. read more

Seithers is a go to no matter what the season. Crawfish, crab, or whatever. I strongly recommend whatever Jason is boiling that day but his po-boys specialty seafood dishes, and everything else is top rate. Drag your no seafood buddy and feed them the roast beef, neither of you will regret it. Sitting outside when there's a band in the evening is a great experience, inside is a little cramped feeling sometimes but never unwelcome. read more

First off, quaint little place. Parking is slim in the front and if you don't have a reservation you maybe waiting! However, it's small and lively! Live music is outside and available some/most nights! Secondly, service was fast and friendly! Third, the food was worth it! The kitchen is doing everything right! The hot crab dip (while heavy) was VERY GOOD. One of the best crab dips I've ever had. The blackened fish poboy (normally comes like the yellow plate), but the wife is picky and wants just fish on hers so they gave us the yellow one no extra charge! The ponchatrain was the bomb! I have been coming here for years and I am never disappointed; in fact, I feel like it just keeps getting better and better. The hamper is seafood prepared like no other that reveals the genius Chef Jason is. I'm not sure what he does or how he does it, but the output and product is beyond words. The service is always meticulous. If they get it wrong, they make up for it immediately. Bottom line, they care, and that makes all the difference in the world. Had never heard of the place but went with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. Ordered the kid's portion of friend shrimp and fries, as I was not very hungry. Shrimp and fries were great and price was ok. Ordered the fried bread pudding (to-go). Got home to share it with my husband, who was not present with me when I visited the establishment. Well, let me tell you what a disappointment - and shock- it was upon opening the container. Four tiny bits of overcooked, dry bread pudding with some chocolate sauce in a condiment cup...all for $12!!! I've eaten a lot of bread pudding from many places and this was just laughable to even be called bread pudding. They need to either lower the price or increase the portion! The young man who served us was pleasant and knowledgeable. It was a busy day and he clearly could not keep up with his tables. My daughter asked for an extra plate - that never came. We waited quite a few minutes for to-go containers and then again for our check. My family did mention their food was good though. Neighborhood/locals place with a small dining room but plenty of outdoor seating. Very attentive wait staff, even during the lunch rush. The menu is eclectic with some very unique dishes but we didn't want to stray too far from the comfort zone as we both had a large breakfast. What we really wanted was a crisp and lighter shrimp remoulade salad (Pee Paw) but was told the lettuce had not come in so no salads today. Bummer. So instead my companion got a bowl of the crab and corn bisque which they thoroughly enjoyed and I got an oyster poboy which I thought was just ok. It would have been much better had a better quality of French bread was used (cough, cough, Leidenheimers) but this was more doughy, like a Cuban bread. We also got an order of onion rings (my companion's weakness) which were very good but at $1 a ring ($12 an order)they should be. We didn't get any today but they make some of the best boiled crawfish in the city. We can't wait to try some of the other menu items. read more

This place was recommended to me by my coworkers. This was one of the best meals I've ever had in NOLA. It has a classic NOLA feel and the food is darn good. We ordered oysters, crawfish, shrimp and fried soft shell crab. Everything was perfect and tastes very fresh. This is definitely one of my top favorite restaurants in NOLA of all time. Seither's is really trying but not meeting reasonable expectations. Tonight, the house seemed understaffed and that's problematic considering it's Friday during lent. After a 30 minute wait we were seated. Once we announced our order for the boiled seafood platter for two "The hamper", we were told there wasn't blue crab. The platter arrived before our appetizer; we had two ask for the dipping sauces after affirming we wanted them. We asked about the boiled potatoes that were supposed to come with the platter and were told the house was out. I mean it's 5-6pm on Friday and you're out of blue crab and potatoes. The shrimp was diffuse to peel as well as the snow crab. Crawfish was on point. Service was great, however. Staff was found to be pleasant and patient. A musician was on-hand; she was a delight. Price is great compared to other places. Service was also super friendly and nice. The food is decent but not exceptional. Of the three places I got fresh boiled crawfish at, this one was the cheapest at $4.99/lb but also was the least great (but still good). Got two pounds of crawfish and a pound of shrimp ($10.99) and a few corn ($4 for two pieces). The boil also has some mushrooms in it which was nice, and some onion and citrus and other stuff. Got a table inside and they also had a bunch of tables outside. I was disappointed that there were quite a few mushy/dead crawfish in the two pounds I ordered. Also, the corn was terrible, dry and flavorless, definitely not worth $4 for two half sized pieces. The crawfish was still decent overall and the shrimp was good too, just overall nothing special. The friendly service makes this 4 stars, because the food itself was probably closer to 3.5. read more

We got the $50 boiled seafood plate. It was supposed to come with crawfish, shrimp, snow crab, potatoes and corn. Not a big deal but I don't think we would have ordered the same thing if we knew shrimp would be omitted. Then we had to ask for potatoes, as those weren't on the platter either. The boiled seafood was great! Just the right amount of spice. And they are one of the few places in New Orleans with actual cocktail sauce, which we ultimately didn't need since they didn't give us shrimp. I would def go back. let me preface first with the statement that I have been multiple times at Seither's and always enjoyed the well seasoned crawfish, and the bustling environment. Alas! nothing stays the same. In my last visit, the crawfish was cold and rubbery, but what really made the whole experience uncomfortable was the dirty looks from multiple individuals as "you don't belong here". Yes, I am a minority, but it has been a long time since I felt not welcome in the place due to the color of my skin. I also understand that the restaurant cannot necessarily choose whom to serve. The service was good, and the waitress was mildly apologetic for the temperature of the crawfish. This little gem in Harahan is outstanding. First, you have the down home feel with the oyster shell parking lot. Second, their is the waitstaff that treats you like family rather than as a customer. Finally open and I'm thinking of them at the same time. This has been on my try list for several years. Imagine my regret at all that missed tastiness. Mary says best eggplant napoleon she has ever had. Bisque was extra creamy and they used large shrimp. Delish! There was an herb that looked like clover on top of both dishes. Not sure it was additive to flavor but it was eye catching. I was told it was micro greens but they seemed unusually large. Table near us had soft shell crab blt. The bacon looked like ribbons on top of the sandwich. Beautiful presentation. Someone in the kitchen cares about food. Looking forward to my next trip. read more
