We always make a stop at Biergarten when we are in SB. Good beer. Good food. Relaxed patio vibe and dog friendly. Service is always friendly. And valet parking makes it easy when it's busy to park. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner booked here and 1 month prior to the event, they canceled because they chose to host a corporate event instead of honoring the contract I had with them. I paid the deposit and everything. The manager, RJ, chose to book a corporate event over my wedding rehearsal and verbatim told me "it was a better business deal" for him and offered to have my event hosted at a TINY dreary winery down the street. We went there to celebrate a late birthday and noticed that they were short staffed. The bartender TESSA was slammed with orders and kept asking the waiter for help, kinda impossible on a Saturday filled with UCSB graduates and their families. We sat at the bar the entire time we were there and TESSA held her composure and was AWESOME. She never once complained and gave us and others the BEST COSTUMER SERVICE!! This place was awesome. We have been trying to come for a while but everytime we did it was packed. The location is really nice, they have free valet parking I believe for 2 hours. Everyone was very nice and helpful the beer is really good and I'll give you tasters you can decide which one you want. They have the boot which is actually pretty cool and according to the servers that's like the biggest attraction I wasn't able to try the boot cuz I couldn't decide which beer I liked but I definitely want to return to try the boot. the food was really good the pretzel was my favorite huge German pretzel. the hot dogs or schnitzels were really good as well and it was nice to see that they had vegetarian options which I did hear a lot of people ordering. Really fun place definitely going again. Customer service is really good as well everyone was nice helpful and there was proper social distancing going on I never once felt uncomfortable. read more

You can never go wrong with a beer garden. We happened to be the third customer of the newly opened beer garden. The staff were nice and the location was super clean. Beer and wine selection was on point. I loved the pizza that we ordered. You all have to try the Butcher Block pizza. I would go back there in a heart beat to try out the other pizzas and beer selection they offer. In chronology of order. 1. Taking the order We sat at the bar for 25 minutes and the bartenders never looked up. After being fascinated about this, we started trying to get their attention with waving and eventually yelling. Finally they took the order. 2. Lost the order Actually, the order was delivered to the wrong table, but we were at the bar..how can you confuse a different Ning table from the bat. 3. Post event lost order So they said, non problem we'll deliver your lost order in a minute..we reordered the lost order through the kitchen, after waiting we left. (We paid but we left, that's how bad it was) 4. At 8:00 pm it's freezing I used to live in Sweden, this is the coldest bar I have ever experienced, it was 54 degrees Fahrenheit sitting at the inside outside bar 5. Never come back We will never come back to this establishment ever, it is still standard in every conceivable or imaginable dimension Overall as an American I'm embarrassed of my experience, although the young men working are good people ..they are clueless or stoned or both to provide an experience we had. In town for a couple nights, we passed by Biergarten & it was popping! Lots of people outside with massive steins of hazy beers tempted us inside. When we got to the counter we were greeted by a very friendly server named Nolan. He helped us choose some great drinks then when we asked him for some Santa Barbara recommendations (we were in town for only a couple days) he enthusiastically told us some great beaches/places to go with our dog! I was so excited to try this place. Checked out the menu before arriving. Was excited that they offered vegan sausages. I am German, work as a server/bartender in a German restaurant. This is a restaurant where you order up front and seat your self with a number that's given. I get up front and ask for a Radler. They employee up front says they offer one in a bottle. I ask if they can make one from one of the draft beers and he says no. I mean how hard is it for the bartender to pour a beer with a splash of sprite in it? Any German restaurant should know how to do that. I then try and order vegan sausages but was told they were out. No apologies. Didn't offer any other options. He seemed to be quite irritated actually. After his negative, unwelcoming energy I decided to pass. No reason to spend my money at a place like this. No thanks. First the good -- the food is fantastic from the Bavarian pretzel with homemade pickles and a 'mustard bar' to the sausages. Great space with lots of tables in the sun or shade. Dog friendly. The bad -- chronically understaffed so even placing an order is a challenge. And the beautiful beer taps are tarnished and dirty. The ugly -- on our visit yesterday, the 'manager' was interviewing a new (female) server at the busy bar taking up two prime spots. When the bartender (clearly overwhelmed) asked if someone was supposed to be coming on shift, the manager was dismissive and didn't cut short the interview to pitch in. No, he continued the conversation and then ordered a beer and lunch for the woman. Such a bad example! Get a grownup to manage the place as it is a shame to see such a beautiful place ruined by mismanagement. read more
