We just moved to the area a few months ago and I have been craving hamburgers lately, so my daughter and I drove over for a quick lunch. I was pleased to see a menu with variety and plenty of clean tables to sit at. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke for myself, and the hot dog kids meal for my daughter. The food was excellent! The fries were perfect and so was the burger. My daughter is small and she didn't eat much, but I sampled her hot dog and it was delicious! Never ever paid so much for a pile of nasty food. Had a big a beef dip it sucked, boiled meat with boiled onions absolutely no flavor you boiled it out dummy. Did not finish anything but the rootbeer. Large fries used to be a red basket for 5 bucks now its a joke so small and no different from any other frozen fries, your large is smaller than McDonald's and everywhere else now that I think of it. Please clean the deep fryer the oil is old and it taste bad. Southwest chicken salad had horrible dry pieces of chicken and just sad. The six employees in the front joked and played throwing things at each other was clearly bad labor management. Maybe that's why the prices are so high. One cook in the kitchen Food took forever apparently to go is faster because they got their food first even though we ordered and were seated first. We were passing through town, hot tired And looking for Pine Street burgers. Pine Street was crowded, loud and hot. We turned back and decided to try Big A's. The burgers were DELICIOUS and the fries were Badass!! Root beer floats were 99 cents.... Sunday special. Our whole meal was up in minutes. Wow! Very impressed. Good sandwiches, great ice cream, friendly staff, BUT........ poor personal hygiene of employees. As I sat waiting for my to-go order I felt sick to my stomach watching staff in the kitchen not wearing gloves while scooping out ice-cream (you know the those little disposable kind that cafeteria workers wore long before Covid), not washing their hands between orders (I could see the sink), wiping their hands on a shared dirty towel that was also used to wipe up spills or on their clothes. Several young males working in less than clean looking clothes, touching their hair, one even removed his face mask, wiped his nose and mouth with his hand, replaced the mask and kept handling food. Staff shares duties and prepares ice cream and drinks, answers the phones, takes payments, comes and goes outside all without washing their hands. All this in the time of Coved. I hate to imagine how this place was run before an epidemic. read more

I'm partial to Yelp. My wife likes Google. Both said to stop by for lunch. I didn't believe the pictures of the ole timey push button order system. But seeing is believing. Of course I couldn't reach the button since I wasn't driving a 32 Ford but never fear, call the number below for service. Daughter had grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Wife had cheeseburger. I had my second salad of the weekend. The stuff on buns was done properly and disappeared quickly. The concoction called a salad needed much more work than one afternoon could handle. Loaded with more meats than vegetation and with plenty of dressing on the side to help any stray green stuff go down, I had my work cut out for me. Alas the last few bits mocked me as I closed the lid, unable to eat any more and waving a crumpled, stained white napkin in defeat. Great food, reasonable prices, large portions. Ordered 2 kiddies meals for 3 and 6 yr old. They loved it and the gummie bear treats. 6 yr old said toasted cheese was great, the hotdog was a really good hotdog, kiddies meal could easily have filled me up. Sonora Burger was fantastic as was the Rosemary Chicken burger. We had the curly fries and pesto fries too which were amazing. Will be back!! Just wish they weren't so expensive. Big A's used to be A&W many a moon ago. I was sad that this happened, but then I noticed that Big A's Root Beer was just as good...the burgers were just as good....yummy, yummy food. Nowadays, the only A&W's have become sold-out fast food places instead of the true burger joints they had been. So, thank goodness for Big A's. It's still a drive-in, which is fun. But don't go there if you're looking for pretty decor. Inside, it's cramped and uncomfortable with the same old orange and brown motif of its predecessor. But who the hell cares? Last time I was there I had the awesome pesto fries. They are amazing. This time a pastrami sandwich and curly fries. They were going to put yellow mustard on the sandwich which is unacceptable to me. So it was dry and there was no cheese. The curly fries were good. The service was quick and fine. So I went to this place a couple of my friends said that it was good I'm a big fan of pulled BBQ pork I ordered that sandwich and it was terrible that pulled BBQ pork sandwich that they served which is supposed to be one of a kind I can get that same barbecue sandwich from the store it's called Lowery's it's in a little container you can find it at any store the service was nice but the food wasn't that good I went back and got a hamburger and that wasn't that good either overrated. read more

If I could rate zero stars I would. I ordered a salad. Lettuce seemed old , smelt funky, and the dressing was just HORRIBLE! So I go up and wait in line and decide to order something else because I drove all the way here from Folsom (friend recommended) as I am waiting in line I see flies just SWARMING my salad. That was the last straw. I seriously can't believe the county hasn't shut this place down with all the gross and unprofessional work / eating conditions. What more could you want? The food here is great old fashioned drive-thru Style menu next to your car that you push a button to order from. They come out to your car and hang the food on your window just like the olden days. I came here with some family members and we ordered a bunch of different food all of it was pretty good except for the hot dog which was a bit flavorless. The regular french fries are amazing and the onion rings are among the best I've ever had. The chocolate malt that we ordered is pretty high on my list of the best malted ever had. This is my second time coming here and I have to say their root beer was flat this time which can happen with homemade root beer pretty easily. Three of us order burgers and my son ordered chili cheese dog, a large family side of curly fries a couple of milk shakes and a couple of rootbeer floats. This food tasted like one of those old fashion hamburger joints, like the one we had in Colusa called Ricks when I was a kid. Everything was made perfect, it tasted delicious, very good size portions and not crazy stupid prices like some other burger joints. I went back after hearing that there were new owners. They have done an amazing job with cleaning and updating the interior. Had the veggie burger with fries and a root beer. Yum! Great burgers and fries and they make their own awesome rootbeer, reminiscent of the A&W's of the old days; but....while the quality is very good, the prices are way out of line and the menu is overwhelming to someone who hasn't been here before. They have two different burger sections on the menu intermixed with a lot of other items they serve as well. With such a wide variety of items, you could eat here everyday but you'd probably go broke trying to do so. While other places in town cannot match the quality, it's still hard to justify paying nearly twice as much for lunch. read more
