Chop beef, Mac & cheese, potato salad ice cold Dr Pepper & a small stack of fresh pickled jalapeños.

Lunch on a Monday! Walked in to the smell of hickory smoke & the beat of KC & The Sunshine Band. Clean and smiles all around. Quick friendly service as always. Ordered up and chopped beef sandwich with fresh potato salad and some Mac & Cheese smooth creamy and has the burnt cheese crunch on top. Washed it down with an ice cold Dr Pepper. Finished off the heat of those jalapeños with some soft service ice cream. Do I really have to go back to work now?!?! If you're close by, do it. If you're from out of town on a work trip, plug it in the gps. Enjoy, stay safe.

Super dry meat. Flavors were mid. Weirdly had gravy in the Mac and cheese. Probably would stick to the sandwiches next time

I paid $30 for this "meat lovers" plate, but the ribs have barely any meat and there's only one 2 slices of chicken. I understand prices are up, but the portions should reflect that.

Have been eating here for decades. This is good BBQ. My personal favorites are the sliced beef sandwich, the ribs. Their signature sauce is great. Especially if you like a vinegar BBQ sauce. And last but surely not least.... Free ice cream. If you are in the Love Field area make a stop.

First time to visit based on reviews. They have daily specials but I got the brisket plate. The meat was plentiful 7/10, if I go back I'll ask for a little more marble. I got potato salad 5/10 and fried okra 7/10. The okra was fresh, waited a few minutes for it to be fried. I'm pretty sure they batter it there, not just frozen. The place is clean and the people are friendly. They have a couple bbq sauces, I like the spicy one. They offer onion, jalepenos and pickles 100/10 for free. The pickles! I didn't ask but wouldn't be surprised if they are homemade. Definitely not the cheap average ones most places have. Not too salty but great flavor! Also they have a free ice cream cone. There are lots of signs about not taking too much, etc which is kinda funny.

Service was awesome. They are very efficient and friendly. The food was OK. I really like the barbecue beans. Restaurant was clean and noise level was a medium

OMG - best BBQ in the town!! When I judge BBQ, I taste the meats with no sauce to evaluate the quality of the base cook, moisture and flavor. Then I taste with sauces. This place is 1000% worth the 50 years in business!! GO!! GO!! GO!! Yes, each meat is awesome, and the turkey is moist - not dry like 90% of other chains (or inexperienced places who not it pit masters). These guys have mastered BBQ -Texas style!!!! The 'fatty brisket' is highly trimmed and has no gristle or 2 inch fat belt like other places. Big Al's is moist - no visible fat and succulent!!! DO NOT GET LEAN BRISKET!!! The fatty brisket is not what you get at other places!!!! This is what you want to ask for - and try to get some of the chard bark too!!! (I did - awesome!!) FYI- go there in off hours. Lunch can have no parking within 2 blocks and lines out the door. (No kidding.) But it's absolutely worth the wait!!! I've revamped my top 3 BBQ places in Big D... and they are now #1. Congratulations!!!! And well deserved!!!

We went there for their anniversary where they offered their .50 cents sliders! Wow, great food & ambience. Service was great despite the long line. Will be back to try their awesome barbecue!

This place has really great BB-Q. Note the brisket can sometimes be a little fatty. I would recommend getting the sausage or ribs. I love the condiment bar too crazy I know but I do love pickles and there's some good ones here lol. You can also sub your two sides with a loaded baked potato, which is amazing as well. Great place-always enjoy going back.

When I was in Dallas this passed fall I got a Super Stuffed potato from Big Al's Smokehouse. I loved it so much that I had to get it again, while in Dallas. Loved every bite! I have a busy schedule so I wasn't able to stop and dine inside so I can't speak about the service or the ambiance of the restaurant. However, I did take a picture before I stuffed my face so I hope that makes up for it. Please, give this place a try if you like brisket. Mine was falling a part. I could've cut it with a spoon!

I'm surprised that Big Al's only has a 3.7 on yelp. The brisket was very flavorful. I liked the leaner vs. fattier pieces, but I'm sure you can customize if you ask. The chopped brisket was both flavorful and moist without being too fatty. The Mac and cheese was solid. The cheddar jalapeno sausage was just ok.

After getting inside I could tell why. The BBQ smell hits you as you open the door and it smelled sooooo good. They had a giant menu written onto the wall. Some of the meats were sold out. We debated for a bit and then decided to do a group order. Our Group of 7 people ordered the Cattleleack Platter and sides of burnt end beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. Oh and don't forget to ask for cornbread too. Inside tey had large tables and benches to sit at and we secured our spot. The food was delicous. The Beef Rib was huge and melted in my mouth. The brisket was amazing and seasoned well. Everything tasted great. Everyone ate til they were full and we still had leftovers. I ate them later at night and they were still good. This place is pricey, definitely worth a visit.

For those sitting in the car trying to decide or others looking for BBQ in the area,my recommendation is go elsewhere. I have a very good reason for this and it's disappointment. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot to like about the place. Walking in the door into the dining full bar area,we were cheerfully greated by the bartend-ress on protocol. 48 hours into this review and I'm just at 3 paragraphs and deciding how long or not this is going to be. Texas barbecue is so dear to my heart I'm feeling an extensive review coming on. Let me finish this paragraph by mentioning a significant historical fact regarding bbq just a few blocks from here. " The" king of Dallas barbeque started not far from here. In 1935 Red Bryan started a BBQ business and became a legend. Passing the torch to his son Sonny Bryan who solidified the elevated smoking of brisket in Dallas. That era has passed and now.... We have a new movement. With the price of beef, personnel retention, operating expenses,it's gotta be one of the hardest operations in food service. But,Red,Sonny and others did it and the bar is raised for anyone else who expects you to patronize their establishment and pay today's prices. I was very disappointed in the brisket here. I should have taken it back but, wasn't in the mood. While the owners may be connected to Lockhart Texas BBQ royalty, you can't rest on your laurels. Let's give them some time to tweek the operation before we try again. At this time it's a no go.

By the time the store opened, the line had grown to being over twenty parties long, so plan accordingly if you don't want to be waiting for a while. Between the four in our party, we shared a three meat BBQ plate with bacon burnt ends, brisket, and their house made sausage. For our two sides, we chose their hatch chile mac n cheese and their Mexican street corn. Following the recommendations of many Yelpers, we also ordered two of the brisket tostadas and two of the birria tacos. When we received our plate of meat, I was a bit surprised at how little of each meat there was on the plate, but in hindsight, this ended up being the perfect amount of food, where everyone was able to get a sample of everything. Of the items we ordered, my favorite was definitely the burnt ends. These were melt in your mouth tender, and was insanely rich and decadent. Each of the three pieces in our order had a beautiful bark on the outside that resulted in a satisfying crunch with every bite. The casing to the sausage was snappy and the sausage itself was very juicy. The brisket was fall apart tender. The brisket was a bit light on seasoning, so I ended up using the Aztec Gold BBQ sauce they had sitting at the table with it. The sides that we chose were both delicious. The pasta in the mac n cheese was cooked perfectly and the noodles was generously sauced. The elote was sweet and smokey, and the Cotija cheese added creaminess to the side. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Hurtado Barbecue and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit if you're in Texas and are looking for great tasting BBQ.

I follow the chef/owner on Instagram (@kafibbq), and the amount of effort and detail he puts into his craft has resulted in multiple return visits for me. This review is for my latest visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Kafi BBQ can be found in a shopping strip in Irving-Valley Ranch. Only opened Friday - Sunday, on my most recent Sunday visit around dinner time, Kafi was packed. The patrons were a great mix of families, BBQ lovers, and those looking for high quality Halal meats. Smoke was in the air. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super friendly and nice. Pro Tip - Go for lunch or before 6 before items are sold out. A few items were sold out on my most recent visit (my fault I arrived at 6:45) and the staff weren't aware of what was available, leading to some confusion, but they were so nice it didn't impact my meal. 1 Star. Food - By now, you've probably read or heard about Kafi's Wagyu Brisket. For me, I love following @kafibbq on Instagram so I can see what Salahodeen is cooking up. On this visit, it was the Brisket Sandwich. First off, the house baked bread roll is soft, but firm enough to hold Kafi's famous brisket on a pile of home made cole slaw and pickles. The result was one of the best BBQ sandwiches I've eaten. The bite was soft, smokey, crunchy, and tart (from the pickles). It was a special, and I'm not sure if Kafi will keep this on the menu, but I hope they do. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. It's pricey, but it's worth it. While the brisket is great, I suggest you follow them on Instagram to see what's cooking and plan your visit around the specialty items. 1 Star.
