I really want to support this place because it's local to me, but I'm so disappointed with my bagel. The place seemed really understaffed as well since there were only 2 girls working on a Saturday and were obviously stressed with orders. I ordered a wheat bagel with light scallion cream cheese, lox, onion, and jalapeño. Sadly they use canned jalapeños which was weird in a bagel but whatever. The bagel itself was almost inedible... it looked like it was almost undercooked inside? Extremely dense and just tasted like dough. There was barely any lox and about two little slices of onion. I was craving a bagel with cream cheese and this place hit the spot. Since it was my first time going, and there are so many options, the cashier was so courteous in helping me choose. In the end, I picked a bacon cheddar bagel, toasted, with jalapeño cream cheese. It was sooooooo good! It was nice and toasted, and the jalapeño cream cheese was actually spicy. *hidden gem alert* We went here a few times in the last 2 months and at first, we weren't impressed. The bagels were gritty and starchy. However, the last 2 times the bagels have gotten much better. The outside of the bagels have a touch of crisp while the inside of the bagels have soft and desirable chew (even after toasting). I might dare to say they are now better than *ahem* NB. I let the owner know that their bagels are getting better and I was happy to hear that he loves customer feedback and wants to hear if the bagels are improving. Last month on a lazy Sunday, I popped on in. It was 12:30 pm. Right at the door threshold, I stopped in my tracks. I did so because all the chairs were stacked on the tables. I thought they might he closing. But the sign had a 2pm closing time. So I continued to venture on in. Glad I did. The bagels are fantastic with good price points. The staff was cleaning up but stopped to assist us. There were some muffins and bagels left. Understandably the selection was limited due to the time of day. The menu consist of bagels, bagel sandwiches, muffins (mini and jumbo sizes), and coffee drinks. I ordered a salt pretzel, well I thinks that the name. The pretzel had coarse rock salt baked on the top. The bottom had a cornmeal type crust. The bagel had a deep dense chew to it... excellent. I ordered it toasted with cream cheese. Yum. The bagel and spread was $4.25. I think the jumbo muffins were the same price. Mini Muffins were $1 which is not bad at all as with all of their price points. read more

The service was great and we didn't have to wait long for our bagels to come out. I got an everything bagel with scallion cheese and my friend got the veggies breakfast bagel sandwich. We both enjoyed what we got but I wish I had mentioned light cream cheese for my bagel. If you love a good portion of cream cheese this is the spot for you because they do not skimp on it! The bagels are so fresh and perfectly baked. I am allergic to dairy so I haven't tried their cream cheese options but they look great especially the veggie. I love garlic bagels, but Dracula himself would have been able to eat this breakfast and had no complaints. The chocolate chip muffin was good. Bagel and cream cheese, muffin, and a soda was almost $12. I ordered a traditional. I think it's called a southern traditional. Bacon egg on a bagel. It just really was lacking flavor. When I say zero flavor, I mean zero. Not one kernel of salt on those eggs. One would think the bacon would be salty enough but I'm just gonna say I had to dip each bite in ketchup. I gave it a "maybe" because it could just be me... Just got home with our newborn and was rushing out to pick up our son from kindergarten. Placed an order on DoorDash and got a call saying there was a low selection because it was the afternoon. Unfortunately I'm unable to recommend this place. I came here after reading a recommendation on FB Folsom Chat and reading the mostly positive reviews. I came here around 1130 am on a Monday. There was only one other customer with his daughter. The place looked nice and clean and reminded me of Dunkin's Donuts. The server was very nice and helpful. At her recommendation I ordered a Big Apple Club on a Better Cheddar bagel. I also ordered 6 bagels that came with strawberry cream cheese. I took everything to go and ate them at home. The good part is that the Big Apple Club tasted amazing with the generous meats, fresh lettuce and tomato, smothered in mayonnaise. The bad part(s) were the other bagels were misshaped and had already gotten stale and hard, and tasted lackluster. The strawberry cream cheese helped but the plain bagel underneath was sad. My wife threw out her everything bagel after a couple bites. I tried a different everything bagel and found it was also misshaped, stale, and chewy. Also I tried to use their app which didn't work and didn't even list the Folsom location. This place needs to seriously improve their bagels because their location isn't the greatest and they are competing with a well known bagel company located in the Palladio that offers far superior bagels. read more

How did I miss this location this past year? I picked up my vehicle from the autoshop and had half an hour to spare before starting my shift at work. Handy dandy YELP located this as a breakfast place nearby so of course I chose Big Apple Bagels as my go to choice! Haven't had a breakfast sandwich before from Big Apple so decided to try one of their egg sandwiches. I chose the cinnamon raisin bagel however was informed a few minutes later how the batch wasn't a good one and that he didn't want to serve me a dry sandwich and asked if I would like to try a different one. Really appreciated the honesty and the care so that I didn't end up with a dry and not to their quality bagel. Poor service and zero communication. I was at the Folsom location last Sunday morning and ordered a simple bacon egg and cheese bagel. I tipped prior to receiving my order (mistake) and waited for 25 minutes. There were several people that ordered after I did, and they got their orders faster. Sometimes this happens based on particular orders, and it's understandable, but the three people that received their orders before me had multiple sandwiches. The two people working there had zero communication and did not inform me of the progress of my order. I walked out on my $10 sandwich. I'm not going to sit there on a Sunday morning waiting 25-30 minutes for a bagel sandwich. I thought it was rude and disrespectful. I will NOT be going back to Big Apple Bagels. One bite and the excitement waned, two bites it left altogether. The onion bagels were doughy and tasteless when toasted. Total disappointment. Additionally, each bagel bottom was covered in baked-on corn meal and an occasional piece of parchment paper. I'm sure these two items were present as release agents for the baking process. Heavy doses of corn meal do not make good tasting bagels. Actually, I've never seen or tasted corn meal on bagels anywhere. One time was enough. Back to my normal source.
