We were really lucky! The wait time was greater than 30 min. We were able to walk in and sit at the bar! The waitress was very nice and attentive. It was busy so I didn't pine over the menu long. I found the section that included what I thought was smaller portions. I was glad to see the avocado toast and ordered it. Our food came out quickly! Everyone says it was delicious. Had brunch at this location on Sunday and it was pretty good! The day was beautiful so when I put us on the waitlist thru yelp (yes! You can do that!) I requested we be seated outside. Our table was ready before we got there and we were put in a lovely spot on a shady patio. Our waitress seemed super new and awkward but she was nice. I had the shrimp and grits and a mimosa and my friend had the big bad breakfast skillet. He really enjoyed his skillet, but I wasn't a fan of the shrimp and grits. The sauce was WAY too heavy on the spices (maybe cumin?) and the pieces of sausage in it were incredibly over cooked, as were the shrimp. My mimosa was very small for $8. All in all, it was a lovely breakfast spot, but I can't imagine driving that far again for the quality of they food. read more

BBB is one of Birmingham's breakfast staples. Friendly atmosphere and great staff. The food is perfect for brunch and crafted so well. There are no wrong choices on the menu, but the skillets and omelets are always a great choice. I have gotten the BLT omelet which is so great and cheesy. You can also sub out the sides it comes with for fruit or hashbrowns which is nice. I tried the skillet this time which also came which a choice of a side pancake or biscuit or toast. I love something savory and sweet wherever I go so I love combos like these so i'm not having to buy two things and split with another person!! Yay! I finally got a seat! I have been waiting for traffic to die down at this restaurant for a while. There was always a crowd and extremely long wait time. Now I see why. When we were called to be seated, we were quickly taken to our area and our drink order was taken. After browsing through the menu, orders were placed for chicken and waffles, veggie omelet with marinated tomatoes and bruleed grapefruit. Per the menu, the chicken and waffles claimed to have perfected what Roscoes started. It was a tasty but I must say I'd still rate Roscoe's number one. The veggie omelet dish was delicious, very light. So no major complaints on the food. I did notice that no refills were offered on the orange juice or hot water for my tea. Maybe it was too busy. But anyway, I'll definitely drop in again if given the chance. read more

I was in Birmingham for a quick weekend trip and decided to check out Big Bad Breakfast since it was the first restaurant that came up when I was looking for dog-friendly places. They have a huge dine-in area and a spacious outdoor covered patio area. Each table had hand sanitizer and I think they did a great job with social distancing. Major brownie points because they had a water bowl for our dog by our table before we got to the table. The food was phenomenal. We got the Flapjacks (they're massive and would definitely recommend sharing), Chicken and Waffle, and the Jack Benny. I'm a huge huge fan of poached eggs and I was really impressed with the Jack Benny. Service was phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and especially accommodating with our dog. We come here for breakfast a lot during the week and it's always a great experience. Weekends are tough due to their small dining area, we don't like to wait over 30 minutes to eat. During the week they are way more accessible. French toast, big bad biscuit and redneck Benny are favorites of ours. We have only had one issues in our years of dining here and it was taken care of real fast and the manager was on top of making it right. BBB will always be a favorite of ours on 280. read more

Not incredibly impressed. My husband and I are visiting from out of town and decided to check out this place because of all of the great yelp reviews. We checked in through the app to save our self time with seating. I love that this restaurant has that feature! Once we arrived to the restaurant we were seated right away which was surprising because there were a lot of people waiting outside. I ordered the big bad breakfast skillet and my husband had the huevos rancheros. My skillet was not very good there was tons of meat in it but a lot of fat pieces and tons of grease. I was expecting more potatoes because the picture in the menu sounds like that is going to be the majority of the skillet however they were only a few pieces I didn't see any peppers and very few onions. I did order a side of grits and those are very creamy and delicious. My husband have the huevos rancheros grit bowl and honestly for a grip ball there was very few grits. He also asked for no pico and it was loaded on the dish he only ate about half of his meal which is very uncommon for my husband!! We normally order a kids meal because our one-year-old daughter is picky however their kids meals were seven dollars so we decided to share with her. I do not think I will ever revisit. read more

Spoiler alert - they stir honey into the butter and serve the pancake with warm maple syrup. Oh my! At first, I thought, "that's way too much butter for 1 pancake." Big Bad Breakfast is one of my favorite breakfast establishments to visit with my family. I started eating here when I was pregnant with my oldest a few years ago. My husband and I loved it then and have enjoyed it now with our little baby and toddler. As many times as I've visited, I've never had a bad experience. It's a very relaxed and family-friendly vibe. Wow! Was looking for a place to get a big bad breakfast and I found it while in Birmingham for a conference. We were served lunch and dinner during the conference and this gave me a chance to get a small taste of Birmingham, I really wanted something that wasn't just average. I ordered one of their favorites...a breakfast skillet. I went with the Yard Work Skillet. I normally order something with a little more meat, but I was feeling adventurous and wanted some veggies in my life. This was a well put together breakfast. There were plenty of mushrooms (probably my favorite veggie), which gave the dish a meaty flavor. The spinach was fresh baby spinach and the swiss cheese that topped the mixture was well melted throughout and never overpowered the dish. The eggs were properly scrambled and not just mashed up and tossed in the skillet. My only gripe was that the avocado slices were a bit bruised, which only impacted the presentation and not the taste. Good cup of regular coffee too, no cream, no sugar because I am a grown man. So, if you live in Birmingham and have never made it over to this joint...you owe it to yourself to check this place out and become a regular, it's the kind of place where I would like to be a regular. read more

It was the first time we've eaten here after hearing about countless trips our friends and neighbors have taken. It did not disappoint! It was a little cold inside so when they asked outside or inside, we opted for the patio. My wife got a skillet (Yard Work) and I got a Screamin' Demon chicken Sandwich. Both were very good. Skillets are deceiving in size. Very filling! Screamin' Demon was full of flavor but not too spicy to me ( I eat a lot of hot stuff so keep that in mind ). The chicken on the sandwich was amazing.
