The service is usually good & the overall experience is alright , it can get pretty noisy during the weekends. However if they could keep the plates warmer it'd be getting a better rating. read more

Finally got to check out Big Bad Breakfast and the service was excellent. My order was placed to go and ready when I arrived at lunch time. On this occasion I tried the biscuits and sausage gravy and added a side of spicy bacon. You can never go wrong with bacon and I loved the spicy aspect. The biscuits and gravy were fresh tasting but I've had better. They offer fresh meats for sale and the place looks pretty modern. The staff was extremely nice and I will be back to try out more items. I'll prob stick to the lunch time crowd because I heard it could get pretty busy in the mornings. read more

We love BBB! The entire staff is always so friendly and attentive... even if they aren't your server they are always checking on you. I don't think we have ever had anything bad from here. Everything is consistently great! Our favorites are the Huevos Rancheros Grit Bowl (I get my egg scrambled instead of poached), the "Cathead" Chicken Biscuit, and the pancakes. Came here recently for brunch with a friend. We were not expecting how busy it would be! Make sure to check in online before coming, we waited about an hour to be seated as a party of two taking first available (we sat outside on the covered patio). Service was good once we were seated! The menu is so big, I recommend checking it over while you're waiting otherwise you'll have no idea what you want. The waitress was very nice. They had a solid sweet tea, not so sweet that it hurts your teeth, which I prefer. I got the BB Scramble which came in a cute little skillet. The biscuit was also good. My friend got the chicken and biscuits with the tomato gravy, which she loved. Food came out in a totally reasonable amount of time, which was great since we were hungry!! They checked on us pretty frequently and seemed to balance themselves well in the midst of being busy. On to the food..... I will begin with what was great! The pancake! The menu never lied when it described it as being the "fluffiest" you will ever take. Speaking of pancake....you can substitute a side for a pancake; with no additional charge! Most of the places in which I've visited do NOT let you do this and I thought this was definitely a way to stand out. My eggs were pretty bland and seemed to be lacking in seasoning. I did NOT like that the only non-pork item was the chicken sausage. I could be wrong, but I would have sworn that the chicken sausage looked identical to the pork and it was difficult to tell the difference. Although there are many ppl who eat pork; it is important to provide options for those that have specific lifestyle habits or needs. I was not full at the conclusion of my meal; so I felt as though the portion size could be a little better. This place gets a lot of business so maybe it is just me. This place was totally amazing! I went during a weekday morning around 9:30am, and it wasn't very crowded. I was dining alone and decided by the window overlooking the outside tables, where I also had a great view of the entire restaurant. The server was very friendly and I ended up ordering a Belgian waffle with spicy bacon for my brunch meal, and had water to drink. It took about 15 minutes for my food to arrive, but it was worth it. The maple syrup was nice and warm, the bacon was crispy, and the waffle was fluffy and melted in my mouth. So very tasty!! I took my time eating so that I could savor the meal as long as I could. The only issue I had was seeing someone feed their Labrador Retriever off one of the restaurant plates. Let me first say that our own waitress was great. A real trooper, showing up to be overworked when so many others have gone home. That said, we waited 1 1/2 hours before we ever met her. And on a Wednesday morning! I hesitate to even think of what it might be like on say, a Saturday. We put our names in at 10:35, food was served at 12:30. Wonder what it all means in the long run. Will restaurants pay much higher wages to get employees? Will restaurant prices rise so much restaurant dining become a preserve for the wealthy, like the beaches? The waitlist is a joke. We were on the waitlist for 30 minutes for a table of 2. I received confirmation that we were next in line and that they were preparing our table. We went to the counter to let them know we were next. It took 20 more minutes for them to seat us because they proceeded to seat 6 more parties ahead of us. It took another 15 minutes for us to order our food and another 20 minutes to receive our food. Food was good, but the terrible service clouded our experience. BBB is very casual and loud. If you're looking to spend a long time on a Saturday or Sunday brunch, this is the place to go. If you're looking for great service and food, go somewhere else. read more

This is one of my go-to brunch restaurants in my area, great food, great service, and great atmosphere. I definitely recommend if you are feeling something more in the line of breakfast food, their avocado toast and chicken and waffles. Though my favorite menu item is probably the Screamin Demon, one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the area. Though the absolute best thing at BBB is the bacon, I have never had bacon that seems to just melt in your mouth quite the way theirs does. Finally made it! We actually tried to go to the newer (and smaller) Homewood location, but be prepared for a long wait if you're going for lunch on a Sunday. So this time we drove all the way to this 280 location and the wait was only about 15 min for Sunday lunch. The first BBB opened in Oxford, MS in 2008. It's popularity has finally reached Birmingham. Opened 3 years ago, this BBB is conveniently located off 280 in a shopping center next to Walmart. Across from Krispy Kreme there's plenty of parking. There's a Yuge half circle counter in the middle with a small tv that overlooks kitchen window. If you're in a hurry you can get a seat at the counter. There are tables scattered throughout with some comfortable booths lining the right wall and a nice covered patio on the left. Rachel tried the French toast with bacon. The French toast was thick, soaking with gooey goodness and delicious. It just melted in your mouth! The 2 slices of bacon were the thickest slices of bacon I've ever seen. They were crunchy and chewy delicious! Sarah got the waffles and turkey. I wasn't impressed with the 2 slices of turkey. It tasted like 2 slices of turkey I could've gotten from the Publix deli. However the waffles were thick, freshly cooked, steaming and tasted just right with accompanying syrup and butter. Tammy tried their shrimp and grits topped with an over easy egg. Shrimp were large and cooked perfectly and tasted pretty good, but I didn't really care for the grits. I am more partial to smoother and finer grits. The egg on top was a nice touch. To me anything's good with a sunny side up egg. I would've added more butter to it. Tammy also tried breakfast margarita. She reported it was strong but good. I tried the Creole omelet. With shrimp, bits of andouille sausage, onions, bellpepper and plenty of cheese, my omelet arrived glistening with steam emanating from the golden surface. It was topped with a tomato gravy that balanced the dish with it's tartness. The omelet was delicious. I should've asked for more of that tomato gravy. The little accompanying salad had a wonderful light vinaigrette dressing, but unfortunately the fries were soft and soggy. We all enjoyed our meals for the most part. Nice atmosphere. Bustling with activity and conversation. Our server was attentive, refilled our drinks and checked on us. We will be returning. read more

This morning was my first visit to BBB, and I really enjoyed it! There was a little bit of a wait, but we were seated quickly. The service was friendly, but they seemed a bit understaffed (as everywhere is right now). I ordered the BBB scramble with a biscuit and my friend got the pancakes and bacon. Both were delicious, and there wasn't a bite left over! I was disappointed at the price of drinks- $3 for a regular coffee and $3.50 for a juice seemed a bit much. I'm glad to see Birmingham has a great breakfast/brunch restaurant. The service is great, friendly and attentive. They make their own jelly, having saying that it does change periodically, so if your just a grape jelly only kind of person you may or not be able to get grape. Food portions are huge. Everything looked and sounded yummy. The coffee here is excellent quality, no Maxwell House in this place. I look forward to coming back here on my next visit back home.
