This location was very clean and modern (newly renovated). Our server, Jennifer, was super kind and her service was very professional and speedy fast. We ordered the hot fudge dessert. It was a little over $5 for a large portion that could easily fill 4 people. Highly reccomend this Big Boy location -- it's one of the better ones! read more

This one was a bust. My hubby ordered the "hand breaded" chicken strips. They were clearly frozen and he said they were pretty gross. My food was passable. It was warm when it came, which wasn't surprising as I was with a sizable party. My breakfast was just ok. Nothing spectacular. I went in to this Big Boy about a week ago with my 2 children and left extremely disappointed and frustrated. I came in and stood patiently at the hostess stand for about 8-10 mins (someone else that came in right behind me left also). No one ever greeted us or said we'll be right with you although I saw plenty of waitresses who saw me standing there. When a cashier finally came over to seat us we sat down and no one came to our table. A family came in and sat right across from us and a waitress went to their table immediately. This restaurant has changed in 50 years and not for the better. Due to hunger and against my past experience I stopped in for a bite. The menu keep changing with a few classics still listed. The service was a very friendly polite slow. Ordered a wrap which fell apart, quite the messy meal, couldn't even use the dull knife to cut the wrap. I've always been a fan of Big Boy's. This location at 12 Mile and Hoover in Warren, MI was recently remodeled after a driver took a detour through the east wall of the building. The management here has recently purchased really cool plates and mugs. The coffee is always great and I never have a complaint with the food... always hot and fresh. The salad bar looks clean and fresh. Our server was friendly and very professional. I will definately be going back again. read more

3.75 Stars This is one of the better Big Boys in my area, the one in Eastpointe is great for breakfast but sometimes the dinner time has been hit or miss. Pros: The soup and salad bar is well kept, they seem to care about what they are putting in front of you. The fish and chips have been consistently good. Cons: Prices are going up but considering how they keep this Big Boy it still is a decent value. I'm getting older, so we old people tend to complain that the prices aren't the same as 30 years ago. Comment: In case you didn't know, Big Boy invented the double decker burger but Mcdonalds ripped it off. read more

I was thoroughly impressed by this Big Boy. Usually, this retro inspired chain leaves me thinking strictly of senior specials and unidentifiable's on the salad bar. But this visit was different- the restaurant was bustling with plenty of staff and all were very friendly. I had the cream of broccoli soup (a long time favorite) which was a little lumpy (due to late day soup consumption) but tasted good. I also had a chicken caesar salad which was spectacular. The lettuce was perfectly crisp and beautiful, not too much dressing, and the serving of chicken was ample. My eating companion, my grandmother, has the chicken noodle soup (which she said was delicious) and the meatloaf/mashed potatoes/gravy dinner. I tried a bite of the meatloaf, and it was a little too heavy on the loaf side and not enough meat for my taste. But she really enjoyed it. I share this review not to praise BB's amazing cuisine, but just to give a nod to an old timer that really did me right this visit. read more

Big boy on Dixie highway, Michigan went in today Sunday Father's Day ordered a slim Jim combo and noticed they had strawberry pie for 99 cent with any purchase. So we ordered the pie to go because we wanted it for later. Comes time for the pie and they say if you want it to go it is not 99 cents. It is for dine in only "What" we just got done dining in your restaurant. No where.in the advertisement does it say we cant take it with us after we dine in. The manager very rude say dine in only so if I do it for you I have to do it for everyone. Very rude, it's not like I tried to get it on a all in carryout order. The grilled chicken sandwich (with onion lettuce and tomato) is not what it once was. They're using some other kind of chicken breast and/or cooking it differently. Not anywhere near as good as it once was. Prices are high. A number of my friends (once regulars) have also commented about that and now eat elsewhere. The salad bar soups are now exclusively creamy junk stuff. I want (clear) beef barley or at least chicken noodle. Almost never see that anymore. My daughter ordered Fish and Chips the hush puppies were over cooked, the fish tasted horrible and there was a hair in the batter. Needless to say she did not eat. My family and I go regularly on Sundays for the breakfast bar. We have Victoria as our waitress and she is an absolute sweetheart. The manager always comes over and talks to us. We just love this Big Boys! If I have one complaint is that the food on the bar needs to be hotter. Many times its just lukewarm. read more

I have NEVER had such BAD service and food in my life, my onion rings were so bad I sent them back and still I may have had 5 on my plate and nasty, and the funny thing the manager came over bragging how they are the only one that make their own onion rings so we ordered them with a slim jim that also was terrible really this place was bad me and my husband are not the type to complain we just leave but we had to say something to the manager and he took off price of onion rings that was not the point but....then you have a cook and a waitress in love hanging around, one waitress had a cold the one that had our table, thanks!! It's been many years since I have visited this restaurant and I have to say the food was just as delicious as always. As a senior citizen I am pretty fussy and vocal is food or service is bad but this store gets the best rating ever. The Manager is still still there and my kids are now grown with kids. It's okay for quick meal. Was disappointed with the price. I reseed a veggie omelette with chicken added, the charge was 18 dollars, freaking ridiculous. My dinner was terrible - food cold, old and not entirely cooked. Normally they're great, so I called the next morning about it and the morning manager was CRAZY, mean and unapologetic. She told me that the food was supposed to come half cooked. I asked for corporate's number and she informed me that the night manager would have to "deal with it" because it "happened when he was here". I told her flat out that she was rude and she said "Are you referring to ME?!" all ragey on the phone. I stopped going to big boy sometime ago because the ones by my house were dirty, the service was poor and the food just wasn't that good. I was driving past this location today and decided to stop in for lunch. The restaurant was clean. The buffet looked delicious and neat. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I would give less stars of possible. My 3 year old son had a break down after flying back to michigan from Las Vegas at the restaurant so I took him away from our party of 8.. Yes 8! Including his Grandparents, his uncle from florida, and 2 others aside from me, my wife and him. We went out to the front of the big boys, just inside the door, where I called him down enough to bring him in... But before I could bring him in, my son and I were kicked out and told that their manager did not want us on the premises... Even though they were serving my family.. I called my wife and told her we needed to leave that we were being kicked out.. Then she paid... Yes she paid!!!! I told her not to and to leave the food. Because of the horrible service. She asked why and manager told her some trumped up b.s. story about how someone was robbed and how his employee was not trying to sound rude. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE! So my wife brought the food I had hoped to have eaten at the place, but got kicked out of... And because we don't live near the restaurant we had to drive about 5 miles to my brothers house to eat... And by that time the food was really bad.. Wilted lettuce on the "Big Boy"... Burger for our in the microwave... So you already know this isn't good.. Soda was half filled, mostly ice. The only reason I gave this review 2 stars is because the staff is amazing and very accommodating. Otherwise one-zero stars for the experience. I am a regular customer and came in for dinner last night. Ordered the big meaty scramble a new item on the menu. After waiting a long while our food arrived and the waitress placed my plate down with what was the equivalent of a child size portion hardly anything on the plate and the food was made wrong. It was missing cheese and the eggs were not on the plate but on the side. After expressing my concern over the food served to me, she asked if I would like to speak to the manager. I answered yes, she came back about 30 seconds later and advised me that the manager said he didn't have time to speak to me and that he would not be coming out. He furthermore told her to let me know that the plate was the correct portion size. I had had the same plate on Sunday and it was made correctly and matched the exact picture on the menu. I expressed this to the waitress and she explained that the manager said that there was nothing he was going to do even though it was made wrong. She took the food away as I expressed that I would not be paying $12 for a meal the size of a child's meal and made wrong. After 5 minutes passed the manager added insult to injury by coming to our table while my husband ate his meal and asked me "what's the problem?" I tried to politely explain to him, showed him the menu, mentioned the portion size and missing food from the dish and he looked me right in the eye and said " Well that's how it's made." Further more continue to explain that it was my fault as I ordered everything on the side, when I said no I hadn't he said "that's it. That's how it's made." To the manager: I just wanted a good hot meal after a long day at work. I trusted you to provide that for me. The personal care you gave me was a disgrace and the sad thing is you don't have the good sense to be ashamed of yourself. I was a customer with a valid concern about food that was missing items and was made incorrectly and you, the manager blamed me, the customer. What ever happened to true concern for customers?
