And once again, looks can be very deceiving. I tried this place with some family a while back. We were craving some BBQ and found this place. Although the restaurant does not look like a whole lot the food is fantastic. I got the order of the ribs with beans, a roll, and fries. The ribs were very flavorful without any sauce and made me regret only ordering the half slab. Not a whole lot of chewing needed here, the meat simply fell right off the bone. I was able to try some of the chicken also. Besides the ribs I would highly recommend the chicken. The chicken had that lightly burnt bbq taste on the outside that protected juicy white meat perfection on the inside. Beans were nothing special and I will switch them out next time for something else. The roll was very light and fluffy and was a great sponge to soak up the extra sauce. And the fries were the salty compliment that I was looking for that tied this meal together. My favorite part though of the whole meal was the sauce that comes with the meal. This sauce was truly amazing! It was a great blend of spicy and tangy that went great with the ribs and ended up being my dipping sauce of choice for my french fries. This is a great place to get down with some tender chicken, flavorful beans, and fresh tomatoes. The BBQ sauce and rolls are not bad, either. I'm not an avid rib fan, so I can't speak to that part from personal experience, but I've heard pretty solid reviews from most of my fellow diners on that front. If you're 21+ and ready for some good dive bar action, head next door to Brian's where you can eat Big B's food and drown yourself in numerous pints of whatever is on tap. Wow is all I can say! Tried Big B's for the first time as a take out quick dinner. I ordered the b-b-q pork sandwich and couldn't wait to get home, it smelled that good. I was delighted at the first bite. The pork was tender and slathered in a perfectly balanced sauce. They add dill pickles and onions (I asked for mine grilled) to the sandwich which make the flavors 'pop'. Had the cole slaw as my side and it was rich and creamy, not too sweet, and a great generous portion. All for less then eight bucks. What a delicious deal. Amazingly delicious ribs! There's not many really good rib joints in Orange County but Big B's stands out as one of my favorites. It's a little hole in the wall spot located between a barber shop and a sports bar. The inside is small with only 2 tables and a few bar stools. The walls are covered with old timey news paper and farming tools and a gun! It's been a institution in Placentia for over 20 years. I remember coming here when I was a kid and to this day 20+ years later this place is still as good as I remember. Here's what you need to know: Simple menu, BBQ ribs, Chicken, and all the usually sides. But the only reason you come here is for the ribs. Slow cooked, tender fall off the bone meat. Glazed with a tangy bbq sauce. Each bite is sooo good and will leave you wanting more. All the sides are pretty standard, nothing really stands out to me beyond the ribs. But I do like the fries. Service is super friendly. Ribs take a little bit of time to come out but it's totally worth it. It helps to order before hand and come in to pick it up. Price is excellent, considering the quality food you get I think it's a great deal and better then more other places. Overall, this place is great, if you love BBQ then you gotta try it at least once and if you're a local then this is a regular stop for you. read more

I placed and prepaid for a large order of ribs and chicken for Father's Day the Friday before. When I arrived Sunday for pick up, they said it would be 20 minutes longer than they originally said. After twenty minutes they informed me they were out of ribs and were sorry, but they over sold. The food they ended up giving me after an hour of waiting was good, just don't count on them actually having what you paid for when you pick it up at the time they gave you. The chicken was suppose to be plain with bbq sauce on the side and what I got was lathered in bbq sauce. No ribs, so instead they gave me bbq beef cut up, like the kind you make sliders with. Bummer this happened on Father's Day when my family was waiting. read more

Not sure what all the hype is about, as I've definitely had better BBQ than Big B's. I tend to like my barbeque sauce a little more on the sweet side, and the stuff they serve here is slightly more tangy, with a vinegary taste. It's also thin and a bit on the watery side. I guess it depends on your personal taste, but I know that my boyfriend and I left hungry (the portions were too small) and fairly unsatisfied. I live just a few blocks away from Big B's and at times, I can smell the chicken & ribs cooking through my open windows. Yummy! I am a big fan of the BBQ chicken breast dinner, which is a nicely char-broiled split breast, always tender and juicy. Big B's is a take-out/eat-in BBQ place in a strip mall in Fullerton. Its right next to and owned by the same people as Brian's Bar. You can go into the bar and order beer and BBQ from Big B's next door or you can take out, or eat at a little plastic table in Big B's. The menu has baby back ribs, BBQ chicken, pulled pork sandwiches and the usual. Prices are pretty good, especially for lunch. I had the Ribs/Chicken combo for $10.25 for lunch, which was pretty filling. Ribs - the baby back ribs were good, not great, but decent. They came slathered in a BBQ sauce which was a little tangy for my taste. But the ribs were cooked right, the meat came off the bone well, and generally these were pretty decent ribs for Southern Cal. Chicken - the BBQ was excellent - some of the best I've had. The chicken was cooked perfectly - not dry at all, tender and tasty. The sauce seemed less tangy and complemented the chicken well. A good BBQ choice for North Orange County. I was craving some "Q" and it had been many a year since I went into Big B's BBQ even though they are close by. The sliced pork was pretty good, we have all had better, but it took way too long to serve the pork that had been sliced and refrigerated. It only needed to be heated and sauced. I waited more than 20 minutes for the sandwich...and I was the only one in the place though they have a connection to Brian's Beer and Billiards next door. Maybe I am impatient but I guess this is why I have not been there in years. If you need "Q" NOW, Go! As local east side Fullerton residents we've been enjoying Big B BBQ ribs and chicken takeout meals for many years. So when we decided to have a catered backyard Bbq for about 50 people recently, we chose this local small business to supply the entree items. And we are so happy with that decision. This party was to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. And she loves baby backs, so these were the star of the show, along with chicken and bbq'd tri-tip. MIL and many of our guests are from out of the area and unfamiliar with Big B's, including said MIL. And to a person we heard nothing but raves for these entrees, especially from her. As a personal touch, we opted to supply our own homemade side dishes of items she especially loves. Since we did not order these sides from the caterer, our food quantities were charged as a per-unit price rather than by the number of persons. This helped us manage cost as we could order more of the less expensive chicken and less of the costlier ribs and tri tip. Rest assured we had more than enough of everything. Indeed, my one concern is that we did end up with a ton of leftover ribs and chicken. Thank goodness for my giant freezer; MIL and we are still enjoying these leftovers and will through the rest of summer at least. But equally if not more important as the food, to my husband and me as hosts was the outstanding service and value provided by Brian and Liz, the owners and catering coordinators, and by their staff. Brian was extremely helpful in advising us on quantities to order and completely cooperative in fulfilling my specific requests for how I wanted the ribs and chicken portioned. All went exactly as promised. Even though ours was a pick up order, they supplied everything we needed, including serving utensils, chafing pans with sterno, even the carving knife and board to slice the tri tips. (They supply these unsliced to prevent the meat drying out). No detail was missed. Thank you Big B's for helping us throw a fabulous party and, most importantly, making our mom's 90th birthday such a memorable occasion for our family and lifelong friends. read more

I came here for the first time last night, & I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this place! Plus I rarely take the time to write reviews but my experience after going here from last night was absolutely AMAZING! The gentleman that was working and taking care of me, made the experience beyond satisfying! Since I hadn't been there prior to last night, I was debating on two different meals that I couldn't seem to make my mind up on by my self, but the gentleman that helped me out over the phone went out of his way to help me choose the delicious pulled pork sliders which came with three, along with a side, which I chose the tasty French fries. He managed to answer all of my questions over the phone with such a great, positive attitude! Plus I couldn't believe it! Once I got there to pick up my meal, as I was handing over my card to pay for my meal, I couldn't believe to hear, "You're all good! Thanks for stopping by. We'll see you next time!" I was super surprised to hear that, which I ended up leaving with a huge smile on my face, as he had insisted for me not to worry about it. I honestly couldn't believe it! I don't remember the last time something that awesome happened to me! But I gotta say it was a super nice feeling. The sliders were absolutely delicious, along with the fries, not to mention super filling! I can easily say that I would definitely recommend this place to my friends & family, as well as anyone else that enjoys BBQ food! Went here for the first time with Wifey, who loves ribs. I can take them or leave them. ATMOSPHERE: GREAT, it is a beer bar with plenty of character. Pictures from local sports team adorn the walls, Angels, Titans, Rams, New York teams, autographed memorabilia, etc. Good stuff. Plenty of TVs, the bar and tables made of solid sturdy wood. The bartender was great and the service the same. FOOD: OK Wifey ordered the BB Ribs a la cart with a side of cole slaw. The ribs were very good, smoky flavor and very tender, she loved them, she would know. The cole slaw, on the other hand, was nondescript, bland and tasteless, like something you would get from Ralphs for a quickie picnic. Could be way better, if they make it there then shame on them. I'm hoping it's brought in. Me ordered the "oven roasted turkey breast" with swiss cheese. It was cold. Silly me was thinking freshly carved oven roasted turkey breast ( instead Buddig, or another prepacked ziplock turkey just like I have at home for lunch when all else is gone ), swiss cheese has holes, right? ( instead individually wrapped Kraft swiss cheese food, disgusting, even to look at) on a toasted roll? ( cold Ralphs bun ). I was expecting a good roll with hand carved meat, real swiss cheese toasted, with lettuce and tomato, not so, oh well. The onion rings were the real deal though. SUMMERY: Thumbs up on the Ribs and Onion rings. Thumbs down on the cole slaw and "oven roasted" turkey sandwich. On the flipside, if you get it to go, the aluminum foil is very heavy duty, you can use it again. A far better bargain then the cole slaw. There You Go! read more
