This moving company was impressive and affordable, a hard combinationto find. . They worked with my scheduling which I had to change 3 times due to escrow challenges. I frequently move, I have used 3 different companies. This one by far has been the best and worth every penny. The guys were extremely efficient. Not one time did I see them standing around doing nothing. There was only issue with damage however mistakes happen so its not that big of any issue for me. I will definitely use them again. UPDATE: I received a call back from Greg after he saw my post on Yelp. He educated me on the insurance that movers carry, subcontracting with other moving companies, and small business operations. As a small business owner myself I felt that taking the offered compensation (one hour of services) I'd be putting both he and his subcontractors in a difficult position. I will be MUCH more diligent the next time I hire a moving company and make sure I understand what happens when things don't go as planned. So I have given Big Deahl's an average rating between one star for customer service and five stars for the team that was sent out to help me move. I only needed moving help to load a UHaul for an out of state move. The men showed up on time and worked EXTREMELY hard. They were professional, funny, efficient and extremely careful with my things. Unfortunately, the very last piece to go into the truck was my mother's fountain, and when they went to set it down it broke. I asked what their policy was regarding broken items, and the movers called Greg to ask. Greg offered the last hour of time for free, which I felt was very appropriate. However, I found out that Greg would not be hit with this hour, rather, the movers would have this taken out of their pay. This was mind-boggling. I said, never mind - I could not in good conscience take pay from these three gentlemen (and they WERE gentlemen) for a very honest "oopsie". Greg called back a few days later to discuss this, but had to end the call about 30 seconds in. He said he'd call me back. I'm still waiting for that call. I hope to be able to revise this review accordingly. read more

Recently moved from a 700 sq condo to a 1100 sq apartment (less than 5 miles). I hired two person crew. Greg and Erric showed up, friendly, and ready to get to work. I had already rented the truck and had all of our boxes moved throughout the week so it was only the big stuff they had to move (couch, chair, plants, bedroom set, table and chairs). You don't realize how much stuff you really have until it's loaded into the truck! Greg and Erric did a fantastic job making sure all of my things were packed into the truck safely. Just had these guys move a really large item and needed it the same day due to restrictions i had for the move. Gregory and his crew were able to reschedule for me and just like the other comments, he responded and communicated the whole time. They seem like a smaller outfit but i like that. I had 3 very heavy items that needed to be moved. I chose Big Deahl's movers because they seemed to specialize in big, heavy items. I was pleased with the appointment setting and the quote was reasonable. However, the movers themselves were the best. They took great care to not make a mess of my floors, and to protect my tile flooring and furniture from being damaged, and also took great care with the items they were moving. They were also friendly, but got the job done professionally and smoothly. If I have to ever move again, I would definitely use them and reccomend them to others. read more

I used Big Deahl on the recommendation o fmy realtor. The one star is for marketing skills. Greg was very smooth and professional when he came to assess for a fee quote. He suggested a one truck, two man move with packers to assist in the packing before the move at a rate of $399 for the first 3 hours and $90 for everyhour thereafter with time and a half for overtime after 8 hours. I accepted his advice and took the deal. I am a one person houshold moving from a condo to a single family home less than 4 miles away. Let me share my experience with this company and his packers and his movers. I have nothing against the persons he sent but I cannot give any stars for their services. Here's why: 1. Packers were inexperienced and sloppy in their packing. I was on hand with a friend to answer questions about the packing. They packed my garage and study in three hours. I tipped them generously as I assumed they did a good job. I was so wrong. When I began unpacking my stuff I realized they threw everything into boxes that did not fit and used tape to ensure they stayed in those boxes. See photo of box ghey used for a helmet adn how they taped it up. Totally unprofessional. Then they put different things in teh same box. Like they put my shredder in with my bed cushions from the study! Now why would they do that? Nothing was lablled with the contents so I had no idea where anything was when I began the process of unpacking. 2. Next the movers, they came and took their time. I realized why later in the day. One of them was a newbie who needed instructions from the other what to use to do what, how to lift a washer, how to slip cardboard under the washer, etc, where to step to move into the laundry room with a standard size door. I liked the two young lads. They worked hard but I felt shortchanged by the company who I paid to teach their apprentice. They took alll of 10 hours to move my stuff the 3 or so miles or so to my new home. They shrinkwrapped cardboard boxes onto the shelves from my garage i moved but when i unpacked them they were all non-fragile stuff which did not need shrinkwrapping on a shelf they loaded wholesale onto the truck. No wonder they took 10 hours and ran out of shrink wrap.3. I had a whole roll for them and the boss said they were not paying for any more shrink wrap as it costs more than $30 a roll. I had paid for movers, not laborers, so I would imagine theat shrink wrap was the mover's responsibility. NEvertheless I could not argue with their boss who refused to budge and asked my friends to go out and source the shrink wrap. Now this was close to 4 p.m. on a Sunday and very few stores were open. So it took about an hour waiting on the shrinkwrap which I had to go buy. And I was paying these movers by the hour with overtime time and a half for anything exceeding 8 hours. 3. Finally the customer service from the boss after the inital marketing spiel was very sad. He started blaming me for not being ready for the move. He said hte packers had told him i was not ready. I said they were there a few days before and 95% of the packing had been done by the time the movers arrived on the morning of the move. My friends had come to help with the last minute packing of the final 5%. They were totally done within two hours packing the things which could not be packed until the last minute, and the movers were NOT waiting around for the packing to be done. They had not even loaded the stuff that were already packed before they arrived when my friends finished packing that morning. My friends stood around waiting to help with the unpacking on the other side. In the end their patience wore out and they left because my friends did not have 10 hours to help, with a move that could have taken 4 hours or 6 hours at the most. I had to call on other friends to help on the other end, as it was dark by the time the truck set out for my new home. And i found the boss' attitude with the shrinkwrap and the novice mover very unprofessional. As i said, i hired movers at an hourly rate of $90 after the first 3 hours which cost $399 and $135 after 8 hours. That is not the rate for unskilled laborers. He even started saying things about the realtor who had used him for her move and said that she had not been ready to move when the movers came. I found that totally irrelevant and quite offensive. I paid all the workers and tipped them very well because I believe that they were not to blame but what happened but I will never use this mover again. read more

If you are reading this to find out if you should use them, the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES!. Today was the second move they made for us. The first move was painless and went very smooth. I was extremely pleased in all aspects. The second move was just as stress free as the first. Clarence was the driver for both moves. He took control of his crew and made sure they handled all items with care. I could not have been more pleased. Elana didn't disappoint either. Her communication was superb and consistent in both moves. The company runs the way it does because of the owner, Greg. He is a "hands on" owner, who instills exceptional work ethics in his employees. If you asked me to tell you something that didn't go well with either move or something that I did not like, I couldn't think of anything. Pricing is very fair. read more

Sometimes circumstances occur that you have no control of ...this was my situation... Initially, there was great communication with the schedulers; each kept in contact with me. Although the schedulers were aware my husband and i were moving into a storage unit for approximately 6 months, neither scheduler advised we would need blankets to protect our furniture or the fact, Big Deahl, would not protect my hardwood floors as they moved my personal effects. Each of these concerns, was discussed with Chris, manager/owner, the moment the movers arrived. The movers did not even carry extra packing blankets; which, we could have purchased if necessary. The movers, themselves, lacked skills to set up a truck and to place our items into storage, appropriately. Although boxes were marked "FRAGILE"; once we moved from the storage to our home, after 5 months, most were smashed, including antiques wrapped securely inside. Additionally, two antique dressers were stored on their sides, causing damage to the ends, rendering the top drawers useless. Most of our items were scratched and the care with which the movers placed items into storage, showed a lack of respect and concern. If i knew these "professional movers" needed direction, i would have done so and after seeing how the storage, itself, was packed, I would have saved the tip and initial review for the move from storage.
