An accidental find while the family was en-route to Sedona. I had the Black & Blue burger - Yum! Kids had the fries (wow! a different taste than what I usually get from the chain stores - a welcome). The staff is friendly... And the ambiance is down-to-earth, no pretense/no facade. read more

You can't drive by Big Earl's and not stop in. What a cool spot! An old service station that was purchased and renovated into an awesome little diner in 2001. The original gas pumps are still in the patio seating and the sliding garage doors are still on the side of the building. They have a great menu- lots of selection. They also have a bar, milkshakes, Italian sodas and more. I stopped in 1) to be nosey and see what it was and 2) to grab a drink. I opted for a strawberry Italian soda because they aren't available everywhere.it was prepared quickly and perfectly and only cost a couple dollars. They have a huge front patio and an even bigger "backyard" space with games (think giant size connect four and jenga). The patio is of course furnished with fans and misters :) Definitely stop in for a burger and cold beer, you won't regret seeing this unique little place. read more

My family and I drove up to come visit this place for lunch. The weather was perfect for enjoying the patio. The burgers we got were delicious and the chicken strips were really yummy ! I may get those when we go back. We were to full to try any of the delicious sounding milkshakes but will have to next time. Great family night option. For starters, the burger was amazing. However, I had to add Jalapeños to spice things up a bit. Fantastic vintage ambiance, including the classic gas pumps to the collection of old license plates. Great destination when you have family in town. Meh! Been by this place quite a few times. I must be a hamburger snob from the Midwest. I didn't care for the hamburger here. I don't care for the Arizona phenomenon of In-N-Out burgers either. I guess if you put the word greasy in your restaurant title, it excuses all bad foods and greasy stuff and makes it acceptable. My next restaurant will be called Brad's terrible dining - so that should excuse me if somebody doesn't like my food right? Well, the food wasn't that greasy, but it wasn't anything great either. Burgers are 1/3 pound and average about $8, not including fries. While I appreciate blue cheese, way too much was put onto my blue burger and the wet onions did not help things out much. The patty itself was again just average and the onion rings were empty, just like an air ring. Outside patio is nice, but this seems like a place for tourists, who will be amazed at the slogans and "legendary" burgers. We came here for dinner and the drive in movie tonight and it was a wonderful experience! The back patio was perfect for our kids with all of the yard games, and the food was delicious! We had the buffalo chicken sandwich and the mushroom burger (and fries) and we both commented how tasty it was. The staff was also very friendly. About 2 years ago we came here and the food was fantastic. Today we decided to try it again since we had a good experience last time. The food was terrible. We order 2 black and blue burgers , 2 kids burgers with fries and 2 strawberry milkshakes. The milkshakes were made with some strawberry syrup , the black and blue burgers tasted burned and the kids burgers tasted horrible. The fries tasted like dirty oil and had a nasty flavor to it. Our granddaughter had stomach cramps after eating the burger and my husband and I had to make several trips to the bathroom after we came home. Sad that this place has gone down hill. I will not eat at this place again nor I will recommend it to any one else. read more

Was up to Big Earls last night with the car club. Maintained our social distancing and all that. Great place, we all sat outside in a big area. Besides eating there was lots to do. They even have an employer stationed at a popcorn machine who will make and give you fresh popcorn. You enter and make your order right there, straight away. You are given a number and your food is delivered to you. Prices are good and the food is also good, everyone who had a burger raved about it and burgers are one of their best sellers. The young lady owner started off as a server and somehow (I know there is a good story behind it) ended up buying the place. She apparently fixed it up quite a bit and looks like it is paying off. Wow! What a cool spot to enjoy a burger! I ordered the cheeseburger and it was a 10! Buns were very soft and burger was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Don't forget to order a beer, they are ice cold with a huge selection - 60 beers advertised. I enjoyed a vanilla porter and barrio rojo. It was a very busy Saturday and the service was on point! Love this fun place! Haven't been here in awhile, even though we're in Cave Creek & drive by Earl's all the time. We decided to eat here again tonight, and we're glad we stopped in. The patty melt is the best I've ever had...thick, grilled bread, sweet onions, cheesy, with a big slab of ground beef patty. As a burger connnoisseur let me tell you, this joint is overpriced and underwhelming. A huge dissappointment. The burger was very small...practically could have been a slider. I was not given an option of how I wanted the beef cooked, and it didnt even look nor taste like real steerburger or ground beef in general. The only tasty items were the fried zucchini and the almond joy adult milkshake, which was $10 and shockingly in a very small plastic cup.. I'd have at least expected a full size beverage cup for a milkshake, even with the small amount of alcohol. The others with me shared the same reviews. We even returned a burger and it still came back undercooked..they are absolutely not following food safety standards. Please adjust your standards to include temperature probe. During our Thanksgiving escape from the USSC (United Socialist State of California) it was suggested that we visit the famous gas station burger place First time there. Had the Big Earls burger, I'm kinda a no hassle type and just enjoy a simple burger. I'm pretty much thinking that this burger is so far the best I've had. My wife and I got together with a friend who said she wanted a burger, so we all decided to give Big Earl's a try on a beautiful Friday night that was pretty great for eating outdoors. I had suggested eating here because I read good things on Yelp and appreciated that they actually use some pretty high-quality hormone-free beef, which belies the "Greasy Eats" name and the extremely casual 40s/50s-gas-station-diner vibe. Although our friend ultimately opted for the BLT once she saw that they had one on the menu, my wife and I chose burgers: me, the Cave Creek BBQ burger (topped with cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce, and fried onion rings), and she, the Big Earl Burger (their standard burger, which she ordered with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and American cheese). I was impressed that Big Earl's offers you a choice of cheeses (including American, cheddar, and pepper jack), and a variety of bread choices with the BLT (including white, wheat, and sourdough). We also ordered a side of regular fries and sweet potato fries to share. We all enjoyed our sandwiches. My wife loved her burger, and I really liked mine, though I could have used a bit more BBQ sauce on it. My burger was just the right amount of pink in the middle, which was great since I hadn't specified how to cook it. The patties are not the super thick kind, but there's plenty of burger to eat. Our friend seemed to like her BLT on sourdough bread well enough, though she didn't seem bowled over by it. She did say that they got the bacon right, since she had requested that it be crispy. She and I commented on how good the fries and sweet potato fries were. Not too thick or thin, cooked just right, and tasty. Service was friendly, and the food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. It's a great place to sit outside and eat when the weather is nice, so I would recommend you give it a try. Fun & Funky in Cave Creek! Great visuals within this tiny establishment and to the backdrop beyond. The girl behind the counter was kind and seemed really happy to be working there - not something you find often at a burger stand & it was a nice welcome! So, let's get to our menu....the regular fries left a bit to be desired, but the sweet potato fries were AWESOME. The patty melt was kinda average (could use more seasoning in the beef) but made with naturally-raised beef, which is a plus.....My son's burger had creamy pepper jack cheese and black pepper chipotle mayo (I think that's what the ingredients were) which was yum.....and we both had plenty on our plates. Fun environment, too - little shacky place with almost no indoor seating, a big outdoor area, and a drive-in movie theater in the back. I vomited super hard several hours after eating here but I am 99% certain it was from pounding bourbon all evening, rather than anything to do with food quality. Highly recommended! read more

Literally one of the best burgers I have had in Arizona. It was so big and juicy. The fries were delicious too, but I heard next time I have to try the cajun fries.
