Amazing! Whenever I am in town, this is my go-to place. Must tries: bang bang shrimp, shrimp egg roll, peanut butter pie, and the apple cobbler. The portion sizes are also huge! We called at 6pm on a Sunday evening. We didn't see any gluten free options on the online menu, so we asked about their gluten free options. The gentleman on the phone took the time to explain the dishes over the phone. We were so impressed with the large selection! He was so polite and friendly. We needed more time to go over the options, so we asked if he could possibly email us the gluten free menu. He said he could do it within 15 minutes. We were hoping to get our order in ASAP, so within a short few minutes, we got an email from Sean with their gluten free menu. We placed our order over the phone and came to the restaurant to pick up our order. We weren't greeted right away, and the staff at the front desk didn't seem as friendly. Even though it was busy on a Sunday night, it's nice to feel acknowledged. But when we got our food home, we were blown away. We got everything that we ordered (nothing was left out or forgotten), and everything was SO TASTY. BEST Cream of Crab soup I've ever had! And if you have room for dessert... the peanut butter pie was to die for! :) I would definitely come here again, and I would recommend this place to friends and family. read more

1st visit and have to say very disappointed, maybe just an off night. Staff was friendly but not on top of their game. Ordered a vodka & soda to start and it had the awful taste of chlorine/sulfur water common to a lot of restaurant's water in this area. We order steamed spiced shrimp, hot, and it came out cold (was still very tasty). Wife's meal arrived 5 minutes before my meal and 10 minutes before my daughters. Wife ordered Poke, was decent, although she was not a fan of the cold rice. I ordered blackened Mahi ($30.00), rather small portion and texture was off (seemed undercooked). I sent back to kitchen to cook a little more and was still disappointed when returned. Was not looking to get it taken off my bill just would have been nice if staff followed up to see if it was to my liking. Not a question asked when they removed my plate w/entire fish still there. Daughter ordered Fish and Chips, this was start of dinner. Batter was excellent and great portion size. All and all extremely disappointed with what $140 got us, unsure if we'll give it another shot. read more

Love this place. Drinks are worth the price. Strong and tasty. The scallops appetizer was cooked to perfection. I had the cod sandwich which was delicious. It was served with pineapple and roasted red pepper. The combination with the sauce and fish was genius. Dessert of apple cobbler was a perfect end to the night. Service was great. Great place out of the way in Ocean View but worth the effort to find and repeat visiting. Friday night is Buck a Shuck. I am having a dozen as usual. The Grilled Scottish Salmon is my favorite with two sides. I always get the Sauteed Spinach and sometimes the Creamed Spinach. Tonight I am going with the Mashers. We have been coming to Big Fish for years and can say we were seriously disappointed in this last visit. First they seat us (party of 5) at a booth with a crappy chair for the unlucky person at the end- there were other booths with ample space. Food was OK- it's been better before. My daughter orders a sirloin medium well and it comes out super well done and is so tough she cannot chew it. We kindly point it out and the serve checks to make sure she put it in correctly and apologizes. She doesn't come over to check until the rest of the party is about done eating. Manager comes over apologizes first offers a new steak- we decline as we are all done eating so she says she will take off $10 of the $27 meal- WHAT. The plate had the steak and the under cooked broccoli still in it and she offers us $10- again WHAT? We say we would like a slice of pie to go. Guess what they could not even comp the pie. 4 of the 5 at the table either worked or are working in a restaurant- this would have never happened- comp the meal or at least people comp the dessert. THE FOOD HERE IS OUT OF CONTROL AMAZING!!!! Like seriously I left there wanting to come back again as soon as possible! Beautiful new restaurant and very clean and the food was fresh and tasty in every way. Highly recommend the quesadilla (if that's how you spell it) and the spinach salad was out of this world. Everything on the menu is excellent.. All seafood is outstanding.. Highly recommend starting with the Wedge or Caesar salad.. Crab soup is also great.. The cioppino is amazing.. and the toasted garlic bread--well everyone will want some so order a side! Desserts are huge.. we get our packed to take home for later.. Bread pudding is huge and can serve 2 or 3! Key lime pie is another fave. Nice size wine by the glass-- good selection of wine and beer by the glass.White sangria is very good too Crowded and popular so be prepared to wait. read more

We had really high hopes for this place. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. My family and I came here for dinner during our vacation and were super excited about the menu. When we got there, the restaurant itself looked really nice, the decor was awesome. The reason this place sucks is the service. It was awful. Our server was terrible and the whole staff overall were arrogant and didn't treat us well at all. The bathrooms were also a mess with toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor. It's a shame because the food is actually excellent! Too bad we won't be back because the service was that bad of a turn off. read more

We tried this for the first time this year and loved it so much we went again two days later. Everything is excellent. The lobster/jalapeño soup is amazing. You can have the fresh catch of the day pretty much any way you want. We ate at the raw bar and had huge cold shrimp already peeled and perfectly deveined. The bartender was extremely friendly. We come here often as we live in Salt Pond.....nice to have something really close by. Food is always delicious, drinks are great and service on point. My one gripe is when you order a 6.00 salad and want to add chicken, or a protein to it, it is 15.95 for the chicken upcharge !! That makes this salad $22.00 which is really outrageous. First time in Bethany. First day we arrived in monsoon. Looked this place up to go to dinner. Was the best place to eat in the entire week. Long wait but worth it. I liked fact that if you didn't want what was a arranged dinner you could ask for any fish cooked any style. I had sword fish blackened with sweet potato mashers and sautéed spinach. We went there on vacation and had 3 people who were gluten free. The manager came to our table and assured us that they were aware of the allergy. One person didn't like her meal and the manager took it off the bill and gave her a dessert. The staff were very attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant especially if you like seafood. Only issues were that it was a little chilly and we were seated away from where most tables were. Great service and atmosphere, but some issues with the food. We were first served tuna and crackers, the tuna did not taste good and I thought that fresh bread would have been nice instead of crackers. We then received a pound of steamed shrimp, which were delicious. Then my main course came, which was Swordfish over Risotto. I had to cut out half the fish from the swordfish because it was grey throughout the whole center of the fish, but sometimes this does happen, I probably just got a bad fish piece. I'm looking forward to going back and trying other food. I think I might have just order things that were not specialities. I wanted to get the Mahi Mahi, but they had run out. Giving 5 out 5 stars because I think I just need to give this place another chance to impress me, I don't want to bring down their rating by giving any lower especially since they just opened. read more

We called to find out the wait. 35 minutes. We arrived 20 minutes later. Now we are told 1 hour and 30 minutes bc there is a party of 50 coming in at 6 and a few tables have come in since we called. We leave and go to another restaurant. We got the text 40 minutes after checking in. The people at the front desk need to have a better understanding of the wait times and what to properly tell customers both when they call and are there. We just spent $130 down the street for a wonderful meal at Matt's Fish Camp that we also had to wait a half hour for...but were told a half hour and they stuck to it. read more

Called Big Fish Grill in the afternoon to make reservations for our party of 11 @5:30pm (5 of which were children under 6) for a Saturday evening. When we arrive they don't have our reservation, they don't take reservations. The girl at the front desk instead of saying "The wait is only 20 mins are you willing to wait?" calls the manager in the back who comes and rudely speaks to us is on the defense, "There is no way you called us!" This went on for at least 5 minutes. Finally, the floor manager, who was very polite, comes and says she can accommodate us it would only take a few minutes. Once seated our waitress Kathryn was very enjoyable and the food turned out nice. Had we not had to encounter the hostess or the manager in the back it would have been a very lovely evening. read more

Not a fan! Just got back from dinner at Big Fish. I had the grilled salmon with a dijon cream sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked but had NO flavor...no grill marks and the dijon cream was all I could taste...very disappointing. My companion had the sautéed soft shells; also very disappointing; the smallest soft shells I've ever seen; it came with a risotto which was a gluey, pasty, flavorless mess....not edible. I would not recommend this restaurant. The decor was very nice, however, the acoustics are terrible....very loud.....Service was also lacking but it was not very busy. I wouldn't go back. read more

My daughter and I were thrilled to learn that Big Fish was now in Ocean View, a much shorter drive for us. We ate there last night and were extremely pleased with the ambiance, food, beverages and staff. My daughter and her husband own and operate eleven restaurants in the DC metro area so we know when other restaurants are good. We had absolutely no complaints about last evening's meal and big kudos to Jamie: she is an excellent server.We also know your GM, Katie Lively, from "back home" in Bethesda, MD., another good representative for Big Fish.
