He really enjoyed the dish because it was healthy and had a heaping serving of shrimp and crawfish which is rare because restaurants love to skimp out on the seafood. I ordered the Oyster Dinner. It was great, but I enjoyed the etouffee a bit more. My oyster dinner came with yummy veggies and some super gross broccoli slaw. I'm not sure what the heck was in there, but I couldn't even eat a bite of that. The slaw kinda looked purple to me... Service was nice, and the energy of the place was cool. Great size and flavor of the boiled crawfish at this place! Way better size than other places I've gone to this season. The corn and potato were both super good too. No dead crawfish which was a big plus and my bowl had lots of juice(also a great sign). The service was good and the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is they don't give you moist towelettes for after eating these messy guys. Highly recommend for crawfish this season. The crawfish by the pound was excellent also. However, if you go in this place & start looking around the windows, the ceiling & the stuff on the walls there is so much dirt, filth, grime & dust coating EVERYTHING it's completely gross. While hubby & I were there, we accidentally bumped into the wall light & a bunch of dust bunny filth came down & landed all over us. We went during one of the Christmas Drone Light Shows and it was packed. Hostess said it would be 1.5 hours we said okay please put our name down and we'll busy ourselves. She said to come back in an hour just in case some folks decide to drop their reservation. We did just that and were seated within 5 minutes. We know it was by chance so please don't expect the same outcome for your visit. They have two NA beers, and a great selection of seafood options. I got the fried oysters (15), vegetables and rice. Besides the rice being too salty it was very good. Tons of non-starchy veggies and fried oysters were not greasy at all. I asked for the oysters to be grilled because a saw a fleur de lis sign thinking this is a NOLA rooted restaurant, but grilled oysters are not on offer. My husband got the Buffalo shrimp platter and it was delicious too! Our waitress was really nice too and made good recommendations and got me extra cocktail sauce. Stopped in for lunch. Caesar salad was good with really fresh lettuce. Catfish with vegetables & red potatoes: Catfish had a cream sauce on top but I removed a lot of it to cut the calories. The blackened catfish did not have a lot of flavor as you would expect of a typical blackened filet. The catfish really needed the sauce to create the flavor. The vegetables had pepper on them but they lacked seasoning and were quite bland. The blackened redfish also lacked flavor. The red beans & rice were the highlight. They were good. The booth we sat in had the table uncomfortably close to the seat bench. There wasn't enough space to move the table or seat for an adjustment. I talked with the couple at the next booth and their seat to table spacing looked ok. We dealt with it but it could be a problem depending on your size. I believe this issue is only the case with our booth which is the very first booth (on the right entering from the door) This place received a lot of high reviews so I was really surprised & disappointed. Had to take a longer drive to get to this place. Wanted to try based on the reviews and craving for seafood. Small quaint place in the downtown square of Grapevine. Got seated quickly. Our food came right away and our server was an absolute doll. Reasonable prices and good food. My husband had the fish tacos and he claims they were incredible. (some good special sauce) I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp. These were good too. One of my sides was the broccoli and I should've passed on that side. Love this spot! Came to see Christmas lights and shop around but ended up remembering my dinner the most. If you get here on a weekend, it is smartest to put your name on their list as soon as you arrive so you can walk around town while you wait for their call. We were told to expect a 1.5 hour wait but it ended up being less than 40 minutes on a Saturday around 7 PM. It is a loud and casual crowd - especially when we came because there was a live band playing inside and that really added to the vibe. I wouldn't come here for a meeting or anything but it's a perfect hangout spot for friends and family. Booths were nice and service was great despite how busy it was. We started with the oysters on the half shell - SO GOOD. They are served with cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemon and they have a few hot sauces to choose from, too (Tabasco, Louisiana, etc). The oysters are extremely fresh and such a good start to your meal. We got a crab cake stuffed fish special with the rice pilaf and a fried seafood platter with mashed potatoes. Hubby and I arrived ahead of the lunch crowd. Our server was attentive, but we were entertained to watch the young hostesses sitting around on the phones while "working." Downtown grapevine is one of my favorite area near DFW as they offer so many good restaurants and coffee shops. This particular restaurant is located at the chain street at the downtown Grapevine and street parking is available in front of the restaurant. Public parking is across from the restaurant, about 2 minutes walk. Free parking :) They specialize in cajun food. Take my word, and order jalapeño soup. It's not that spicy that you can't tolerate. Hint of spiciness but great flavor of jalapeño pepper made the best soup I've had in a while. I can't eat fresh jalapeño but this one was just so good, I really enjoyed the soup. Grilled scallops was pretty good too. You get to pick your own side and healthy option such as steamed veggies available to make your lunch somewhat healthy. Dined in for dinner on a Saturday night with my partner and my parents and niece who were visiting from out of town. They were doing live acoustic music that night, but we couldn't hear it because we got seated upstairs away from everything else, with two other larger parties. It was a bummer, but not enough to wait for a larger table downstairs. We ordered a few beers and a frozen margarita - very good size and flavor, I got just the plain lime - and plates of calamari and popcorn shrimp to start. Both appetizers were very tasty and seemed fresh. The calamari was not chewy or fishy in the slightest! The provided dipping sauces were also tasty. For entrees, we had orders of fish and chips, catfish, crab cakes, and grilled salmon. All of the seafood tasted great, perfectly seasoned and cooked. As for the sides, we had a mix of waffle fries, hush puppies, broccoli slaw, and "new potato." The fries and hush puppies were standard, nothing special. The broccoli slaw had a weird taste, and the mayo sauce was very heavy. Not much of it was eaten. The new potato was a huge disappointment. It was a single red potato, boiled (or steamed?) and sliced. No seasoning or butter, though both were provided to us to put on ourselves. Very strange, and I would not order it again. Staff was fine, attentive despite us being tucked away from the main dining room. Downstairs ambience was nice, upstairs was pretty lacking. Overall, I would return! Took the in laws here during their visit and we were impressed. The staff was very helpful and welcoming, and the service was prompt. I got a weird vibe upon walking into this almost empty restaurant right after opening. All the prime window seating was available but they tried to squeeze my family of five into a small booth with an added chair at the end in the middle of the restaurant. After I let them know that we wouldn't be comfy there, the hostess proceeded to sit us in the dark area at the very back of the restaurant and added another table. We almost walked out, but were hungry and already there. We started with the popcorn shrimp. Not bad. Crunchy and fresh. Blackened catfish was flavorful, but we had to ask the waitress if the portion was right because we got half of a small filet. She agreed it was small and replaced with a full size, small filet. Everything else... fried catfish, etouffee, mashed potatoes, hush puppies, tilapia tacos... All of it was bland. My daughter had the burger and it was cafeteria quality. When asked how it was, she replied, "the cheese is carrying it". Edit: my husband made me edit this review and add another because the Dr. Pepper was good. On my way out I saw the board with all the specials and felt ripped off. The only reason we came here were the pictures of red fish and salmon on yelp, but when we came in I was so distracted with the seating debacle that I missed the board and our waitress didn't mention any specials. Not a bad spot for a decent seafood fix. This downtown grapevine area in Texas had a lot to offer in bars and restaurants. We stopped in big fish and grabbed a couple apps and multiple cups of Louisiana style gumbo. Service was quick and the recommended margaritas were delicious. I will stop in again for sure. read more

As this restaurant had been on my list for some time, I decided to take a detour during my evening commute. Only a few seats at the bar were taken, so I told the hostess I would sit there. Once I sat down, I was surprised how high was the bar. I am 5'8 and it almost reached my shoulder. Once the bartender informed about the specials listed on the back wall, I did not bother to look at the menu. I saw a couple of blackened fish dishes and chose the Jumbo Blackened Scallops. Do scallop dishes usually come in four? That seems to be my experience when I order them. The scallops were nicely seasoned and tasted great; although I wished there were more. Fortunately, there were sufficient rice pilaf and mixed vegetables to satisfy majority of my hunger. For the remaining amount, the Chocolate Truffle Cake took care of that. There is something to be said about ordering a slice of cake. Once I ordered it, it was served a few minutes later. Went here for my Dad's birthday dinner. Ordered the oysters and they were amazing. Ordered the blackened scallops with rice and potatoes. There were a total of 7 of us, everyone received their food and I waited another 10 minutes before my food finally came out. One of my sides was wrong and I told my server. She offered to bring the correct one and I said no, that's okay. She brought it anyway. It was wasted because I didn't eat it. Then we all ordered dessert. I ordered the key lime pie which was awful. They add some sort of additional topping to it and some awful green sauce. To top off the evening we saw a roach crawling across the floor. Gross! Will not go back. read more

With two empty tables next to us, and more than enough chairs. We had to stop feeding the baby and pack up the stroller and our belongings. My family and I were excited to try Big Fish and we loved the service and atmosphere. But unfortunately, the food was not great. My husband ordered the clam chowder and it was bland as well as very low on actual clams. The soup came out in a messy way oozing out of the bowl. The soup had no garnish and was not accompanied by oyster crackers. My fish "tacos" were on a four tortilla (not the traditional corn) and folded/ fried in a burrito form - kind of like chimichanga. The "fried" fish was soggy and bland. I ordered a Prosecco, which the menu said was serviced in a split bottle. The Prosecco came in a glass - when I asked the server why it was not deliver in the split - she was very confused and I had to explain to her what that entailed. Then she took my glass away and returned with just the bottle. The server was very sweet about the confusion and brought the glass back ASAP. The server was very nice, cheerful and took care of us as best she could. Unfortunately, we will not be back until they have a new chef. read more

We came here last night for the all-you-can-eat crawfish special, which happens every Wednesday during March, April and May. Great experience. Our server was super attentive and friendly - between her demeanor and the Happy Hour beer prices - we knew we would have a great time. The crawfish came out quickly - hot and perfectly seasoned. The refills happened almost too frequently to keep with (not a bad thing), and the trays of shells were cleared just as quickly. After the meal, the server (I am an idiot to be writing this without her name from the receipt in front of me) came by to ask how the meal was, and how our experience was. She also asked how often we go there and what we thought of the Wednesday special. We had nothing bad to say. If you go to check out crawfish night (of which there are only a couple of weeks left), I recommend you get there early. Right at around 6:30 PM the wait stretched to about an hour - we were told at 5:30 PM we had a twenty-minute wait, when we waited only about ten minutes. The only drawback to crawfish night is that the place can get super crowded and it gets a bit too congested. There is plenty of space outside to wait, with some benches available, but people can get cranky when waiting on crawfish. Get ready to maybe throw some elbows. read more
