What an amazing experience, start to finish! We (5 + a high chair) arrived around 5 PM and were seated immediately. Our 18 month grandson decided to throw a fit immediately upon sitting down. Wife and I had supper there first week of February. Went soon after opening, so we're immediately seated. Steak I ordered tasted good, but both my wife's and my steak had a lot more fat than expected. Cut of steak was not what we expected for that price point. This was my third time coming here, and I'd give this place five stars every single time. Absolutely the best steak I've ever had -- always juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I do wish the bathroom setup was a bit and a bigger bathroom and that reservations could be made ahead of time, but aside from those small things, I'll definitely keep coming back to this location. read more

This was easily the best place we ate on our trip to Orange Beach. We had the filet and shrimp skewer. The filet was melt in your mouth tender and the blackened shrimp had great flavor. If you go, expect to wait a while to get a table. If it's just a couple people, the bar is the way to go. We walked up and were able to sit at the bar almost immediately. The bartender was great. Absolutely one of the best steaks in the area. The food is great. The service is phenomenal. However, its a bit disappointing when you give up $60 for a great steak and you get a dinner salad from a plastic bag. Have not been in quite a while and I had dinner as a single tonight. I ordered a baseball cut top sirloin with a baked potato. Also came with a side salad with Italian dressing. I usually have ordered a ribeye in the past and have not been satisfied as they were too fatty. I started with a La Crema Pinot Noir which hit the spot. The salad was tasty as well. The star of the show though was the steak which was cooked perfectly and tender, more than I expected. The potato was hot and plentiful. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal. Only nit is that it seems they narrowed the menu a bit and eliminated the smaller filet mignon and dramatically raised the price on the big ribeye for two. Service from Aubrey was top notch too. It was just okay. Very expensive for just okay. We waited an hour mainly because the place is small. Got the crab dip and that was a pass. Tasted like thick Alfredo sauce and was cold. The cheese wedges with marinara was good. We ordered 2 steaks and to be honest, the taste was good but it was borderline chewy. My sides were just mid especially since they charge extra for every single side worth it (Ceasar salad extra charge and 90% parm cheese, asparagus extra charge and bland). To share a steak, they charge $8.50 on top of extra charges for the better sides. It was just a lot of charges and a big bill to leave with okay steaks and mid sides. We arrived at 4:30. The wait for our party of six was an hour. It took about 40 minutes. Our server was warm. We had chopped stake, Tuna Jonathan, a fillet, a kid's shrimp, and a ribeye that my husband and I shared. We decided to spend the last night of my birthday vacation at Big Mike's Steakhouse on the recommendation of my dad. We got there around 6:45 and it was PACKED and we were told that for our party of four, there would be a two hour wait. We anticipated this so we put our name in and went back to our condo only to return within about an hour to find that we were next on the list to be sat. The hostesses were awesome! We get to our table and our server Erica greeted us promptly and took our drink and apps orders. We tried the Fried Onion Strings and the Fried Mozzarella Wedges. The onion strings came out piping hot and were paired with this sort of kick-ass comeback sauce. Absolutely delicious. The wedges were kind of cold in the middle and sadly, no cheese pull at all. Still good mozzarella though. Next up was probably the best side salad I've ever had. Simply done, but well executed; and that blue cheese dressing was on point. Then came the best steak I've had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked to a superb medium rare. Melt in your mouth ribeye perfection. Well marbled. Absolutely excellent. And the loaded baked potato was a stand out, too. Then Erica, who served us so well and kept our drinks full the entire time, brought out a fried bread pudding for my birthday dessert, and when I tell you we couldn't have ended the meal any better, I mean it. 5 stars all around from top to bottom. They need to clean the place up. Dust everywhere. The fans and AC vents were crusted with dirt. The steaks are very expensive but good if cooked the way you order them. They need to invest in some butter knives. It would be nice to have a knife to cut your salad before the food comes out with a steak knife. read more

I was kind of surprised that the sound level in the building was so good being that there was tin ceilings. Wow! Drove by this on our way in for the week and the place was PACKED- put it on the list to try. Expect longer wait times, but it's worth it! (Our wait was 1 hour/1.5 hours on Monday night at 7pm... and Line halfway out the parking lot at 5pm on a Tuesday when driving past again). Food options for everyone- steaks, seafood, combos, salads, chicken, etc. They start you out with warm bread and the best butter to top- think homemade butter with honey, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Yum! I got the filet, with sweet potatoes and asparagus. I got the added topper of smothered- which was herb butter with caramelized onions and mushrooms. The rest of the group did the ribeye and did the "split" option, to have their own sides. They have other toppers they tried that was lump crap in a creamy sauce. They homemake their ranch and thousand island for the salad dressings. The steaks were so flavorful and grilled to perfection. The filet melted in your mouth. Sweet potato was topped with butter and brown sugar. Asparagus was buttered and cooked perfect! Sad I didn't snap more pictures but I didn't have a chance! Wanted to dive in! read more

This is an old-school steakhouse - not a ton of frills and they put their effort into doing a few things the right way rather than 1000 things mediocre. The steaks were very well cooked and tender, I would prefer just a bit more salt/seasoning, but keeping it simple as good also. for sides you get either a baked potato or french fries and a house salad, very traditional. They do have some other sides you can choose from. We got the char grill oysters, which were also very delicious. For dessert, we got the bread, pudding, and I highly recommend getting the ice cream as the waiter suggested. It was very good and enough to feed the 3 of us. They don't take reservations so the wait can be a while, we got there about 30 minutes after they opened and only had a 10 minute wait. If you are looking for a good authentic steakhouse, this is a great choice. read more

Judge for yourself, this was our experience... We arrived at 8:50pm. We were seated around 9:15. The server did not come to our table until 9:35 to check in with us. 20 minutes looking at a one sided menu. We went ahead and ordered our food with the servers first visit to the table to try and expedite the process and we did not receive the food at our table until after closing time. So before we got the food, they were preparing tables to close up for the night making us feel a little rushed. The steaks were just ok. Depending on how much seasoning you'd like...if you don't like seasoning then you will love the steaks. They're were cooked to perfection though. Overall it was just a bad experience for us visiting this place and I doubt we will be back unfortunately. read more

Big Mike's is the Chicfila of Steakhouses. They do it right from start to finish. No reservations but this is where they thrive. When arriving you check in with the host stand who takes down your number to alert you when your table is ready. They'll provide you with an estimated wait time but not to worry if its long, there is a whole waiting deck that has a miniature bar with some tasty signature cocktails. The best part; they also take appetizer orders! This really keeps the tables turning as many customers have already had a bite to eat and a drink or two before sitting down to actually dine. Our waitress was very kind, attentive and quick. We had a nice evening. Food was delicious. They really have a plan when their doors open and do it well. So let's start this one off the night I went it was remotely busy, but my expectation of restaurants is they're prepared when they see you if they're shortstaffed you may have to wait a little longer for a table that should be an indication that they're not ready. With that said the food was excellent. The onion rings were awesome. The bread was good. The steak was amazing. The service was not good. The drink was OK. Those last two really had a strong impact on my visit based on the food itself this would've been a four possibly even a five star review, but with the service it brings them down to a two. read more

Food: Daughter's steak kabob was burnt. And my espresso martini sucked. Service: Espresso martini was still charged unbeknownst to us that it would be, I would have tried to doctor it myself. Server told me ok no problem would you like something else instead and so I ordered a Chardonnay. I was charged for both. Server never said I would be charged til I got the bill and then manager said well we had to make it. Umm yea but it wasn't good. Instead of owning that they didn't make it right they made it a me problem instead of a them problem. So poor customer service in our book.
