This was my first time coming to Big O after being in Healdsburg for 3 years. My Husband is a Healdsburg native and when I found a nail in my tire he told me this is where we should go. I brought a vehicle in for an alignment, the previous owner had the torsion keys turned up so the truck sat level. As a part of my overpriced service at big O I had them "return it to stock". However when I got the truck back neither of the services I asked for were done correctly they were 1/2 assed at best my vehicle pulls to the right pretty severely because they said I needed a part, when asked why they didn't contact me about getting the part they said they assumed I didn't want to spend money on it. Now as for the torsion keys being returned I was looking at the vehicle because something didn't look right and I noticed that right side is a full inch higher than the left. I went back in to talk to the horrible excuse for customer service and he told me that he didn't see anything wrong with the Vehicle then proceeded to get angry with me when I called their work what it really is (1/2 assed and straight up unprofessional) I wouldn't take my worst enemy's vehicle to have any work done here. read more

I just wanted to compliment one of Big O's employees. Nobody likes car problems, especially first thing in the morning and in freezing cold weather. I was late as it was for an appointment and when I got into my car the red and yellow lights alerted me that my tires needed air immediately. Ug. I thought oh no, there goes my day and I will have to cancel my appointments. I drove to Big O and I told the smiling young man behind the counter my woes. He sympathized with me and asked which one was my car. With a reassuring look on his face, he took the keys and told me to enjoy the free coffee and he would be right back. Be right back is an understatement. I barely had time to sit down and Troy was right back with my keys in hard and said "Fixed". He put air in all my tires and said there was no charge. I made it to all my appointments on time but that wasn't the best part. The best part was the smile Troy put on my face. Typical Big-O!!! Let me explain how the world works to Danny the uneducated hometown kid they let run this particular Big-O. I was originally a bit put-off by the chaos of the parking lot, but chose to give these guys a chance just the same. I actually came in a couple months back just to give the place a shakedown. Last month I came back (the manager Danny, whom I spoke with vis-a-vis at length a few weeks earlier, didn't remember me) just the same, I had service done to a VW Passat Wagon - it went well enough - they did tire balancing that was not discussed with the rotation and charged for that - pricing was OK, but not pre-approved. They tweaked a little too much not knowing the car, and actually through off the timing belt tension somewhat. Today I stopped-in to discuss if it were possible to get service on a pickup truck while waiting an hour or so, as I had been informed in my earlier interactions that this was common. Danny, of course didn't remember me, or greet me as a returning customer. While fully expecting to wait, I was informed that they were swamped and would be the rest of the week into next week - thus, no chance for service today, tomorrow - best make an appointment for later next week - really, for basic service! Business it seems, is so good that they were not interested in rescheduling or retaining mine. Already being there, we went on to discussed several other jobs - both maintenance & repairs for both car & truck - with the overall work involved being about $2000 - 2500 worth of business to be executed in the next month more-or-less. Irregardless, I was given the same impersonal we don't need your business vibe and alas, went on down the road to my former mechanic who specializes in German cars, with a new found appreciation of the smaller specialty shops in tow. Being a business owner myself, I can't imagine taking the approach I experienced at this particular Big-O. Under no circumstance will I return given the apathetic - blank - indifference encountered at this poorly designed, mismanaged location. The way of the world Danny, is that people like bringing their return business to folks who treat them like people whose business matters - and not as objects that managers / owners can't be bothered to remember. Perhaps there will be more time to ponder this, when the eventual slow days or weeks that ultimately come to every business now & again return. These guys are the best. I've gone to them twice within the past few months and I will continue to use them for future maintenance. I was originally using a different local place that was good but they would take your car for a week just to do a simple tune up. Big O has the best service with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I came into this place mid afternoon on a busy Tuesday but damn near tears my car freaked out and start turning on all these lights. They gave it a full inspection checked out all the codes everything is fine and even did a full break inspecting. No charge!! Worst place I've ever taken my car. Here is why: Forgot to put back all the lug nuts after a tire rotation. Installed the window wiper replacement blades incorrectly and they flew off when I was driving down the road. oil change was not completed properly and the engine was destroyed. Management was nice though and fixed the issues but it took a month. Beware. read more

Every time I have an issue with my tires or need an oil change I take my car here. I always get the best customer service availible and they always make sure to tell me everything that's being done to my car and why. They also have always givin me a heads up a few months in advance when I'm about to need new brakes, or a transmission flush so that I have time to save up some money to afford it. These guys are all extremely polite, always do what they say they're going to do, and 9 times out of 10 get it done faster than they say they will and all for extremely reasonable prices. I've previously been a Les swab customer, I thought I would get a better deal at Big O tires. I spoke with some one the day before and made the appointment. The day of the appointment I went in and I got told the tires never came, the employee called another location asked if I had they the tires and told the location that I would be over shorty. I get there and they can't do the tires. Both locations had poor customer service. At the first location the associate barely even apologized that my tires didn't come and was nonchalant about the whole situation. I then called Les swab and they took care of me non problem. We took a truck that was recently purchased that needed repairs. We requested that the truck be inspected for any additional issues that needed repairs. We specifically asked to see if there were any fluid leaks while they performed an oil change and power steering repair. We were given a list of other items that needed attention (nothing on gasket leaks or fluid leaks) and paid $1700 for repairs that were up charged from a simple power steering replacement. A week and a half later a check oil light turns on. We check the oil and it's empty. We go back to Big O's and I speak to the Manager Sean and showed him a photo of the oil pan soaked and the plug leaking. He said he would take care of it. Next day he claims the vehicle needs $900 additional work on a leaking pan and valve that their incompetent inspector mechanic apparently missed. When I complained about why they did not catch such and obvious leak the incompetent manager Sean made excuses. Their lack of leadership shows in their lack quality and customer service. I believe it is a possibility that they could of deliberately sabotage the vehicle to slowly leak to create more repairs or their incompetence has saturated the entire shop due to incompetent manager Sean. My elderly mom and I were out for a drive and had a tire blowout. Because of the type of vehicle and nature of the blowout, the car had to be towed. We ended up at Big O on Healdsburg Ave (cross street is Monte Vista). They took the car immediately and patched the hole. It took a little over an hour as they were quite busy. Various staff went by to get coffee and use the facilities and everyone of them smiled and said hello and most chatted for a few seconds. When the car was ready, Rick, the manager, came and told us we were good to go. All it cost was a handshake and a smile. Wow, we were not expecting that at all. Love these guys!!!!! I get treated like family. RICK is helping me today. Tire had nail in it. (mini Cooper. reg tires) flat got too low (Low Profls) gouged sides. So he put me in Cooper (tire brand not car) for a better ride and $17 warranty that covers all the stupid stuff plus I get free tire if this happens again. They have always fixed my flats for free and gone above and beyond to fit in my schedules. We blew a tire on another car the day before we were to leave for a vacation. DANNY didnt have tire and it was a couple days out to get my kind. He put another tire on my car so we could take off and be safe. When I came back, my new tire/s were put on. Proceed with caution, something has changed there! I have been using Healdsburg Big-O for almost twenty years and have generally been satisfied with the service. Recently, they seem to be trying to drum up extra repair business with inflated quotes and unnecessary repairs. It has been a surprise to me. The latest was a recommendation to replace a part that was not broken, and for thousands of dollars. All that was needed was to replace a couple of hoses. Before this I would have given them 5-stars and it would have been deserved. My advice: do not accept their repair advice - let them stick to tires, which they do well. read more

These guys are great! Mark has owned the business for 20+ years and that kind of longevity in a small town like Healdsburg is saying a lot. On this visit I had originally planned to only have a tire patched, so I was only prepared to wait for my car but there were a few other matters to be attended to so Mark offered to give me a ride back to work which is about 15 minutes out of town. I was making conversation during the trip and asked Mark if they also did oil changes. "Yup". I wanted to have this service completed as well so he used his cell to have the guys also change my oil, so he "wouldn't forget". :) I'm really happy with the customer service I received and plan on taking my car back for oil changes and tire rotations in the future. read more

I took my car there to get my brakes inspected and they told me I needed to replace my brakes and two front tires immediately, for a price tag of almost $1000.I found that very hard to believe so I took it in for second opinion to another place,and I was told I had 20 percent left on my front brakes and my tires had at least 10,000 miles left in them, if not more.. With such a huge difference I took it to a third person and the third person confirmed what the second person said. This place is a dishonest. Proceed with caution. read more

I have been going here since 2003. Always used to get good honest service. Over the last week we had to replace one tire on my wife's car, and all 4 on my daughter's car. As I have done in the past I bought the tires at Tire Rack and had them shipped to Big O for installation. 1) On my wife's car, they installed the tire and grossly overinflated it to 48 lbs. It is supposed to be 36. The proper tire pressures are clearly visible on the placard on the door post when you open the driver's door, as they are on ANY modern car. 2) When I dropped the car off Miguel handed me an estimate including a $64.95 charge to "reset the tire pressure monitoring system" I asked him about that. He said "We have to connect it to our computer." The system is easily initialized from the car's user interface, and is clearly explained in the owner's manual. No connection to a diagnostic computer is required. This is a BMW - I'm sure these guys have seen a lot of BMW's over the years, including mine. The procedure hasn't changed. This was, as far as I'm concerned, an out and out attempt to take advantage of me. I'm a mechanic. They didn't "get" me. But I worry for others less familiar with how cars work. NOTHING makes me more angry. How short sighted! Now that I'm here I see I'm not the only one who had bad service recently. 3) My wife dropped off my daughters's car. The tires were already there and the appointment was the day after we got the other tire fixed so we went ahead and had do this work despite our 1st bad experience. My wife told them they had overinflated her tire and asked them to be sure to get right this time. She felt she was treated rudely in response to this request - Miguel said "Of course We are professionals!" (in a condescending way) When we brought the car home I checked the pressures - they were at 44PSI!! They're supposed to be 32 in the front, 35 in the rear. This is simply inexcusable. Tomorrow I will get out my torque wrench and confirm that they properly installed the lug nuts. Ordinarily I wouldn't do that but in this case I don't trust them at all any more. What a shame. I bought tires from Tirerack and had them delivered to Big O Tires because it's a local Healdsburg place and I thought it would be convenient. This turned into a week of extremely poor customer service. I confirmed that my tires arrived and that I'd be there the next day for installation. When my wife arrives to have the four tires installed, the attendant Miguel tells her that they didn't have the tires and that I must've sent them to Santa Rosa. After her leaving and hearing about it, I called back and spoke with someone else that said yes they have my tires. She returns, the tires get installed and I ask that they save the best tire to use as an emergency spare in the future because they're newish tires and only had four replaced because that's what people said to do with AWD cars. I get home after work and find that they did save one tire for me, the one tire that had the nails in it and the very purpose for getting new tires in the first place... This leads to several calls and promises to check on the tires and get back to me, no return calls or urgency for the customer's requests. Finally I show up at the place a few days later and Miguel tells me they've already disposed of my tires and tough luck. I didn't know changing four tires could lead to a poor review but the amazingly poor customer service at Big O Tires was astounding. read more

As an additional "oh yeah, while your'e at it" moment I had them change a squeaking belt. The belt started squealing again within a few months so I took it back. Called and got a great price for new tires (I checked around), went in the next day at 8AM, got a shuttle ride to work from a super sweet guy, and then got a call at 9:11AM that my car was ready!
