TL;DR: Incompetence at its worst. Save your energy and money, support local. My recent experience at this Big O Tires started with hope for a straightforward service--new tires and an oil change. Let me tell you about both. The Tire Service: When I called to book the appointment, I explicitly stated which tires I wanted (Michelin Defender 2s) and was told they would figure out the sizing when I arrived. Despite having three days to look up my vehicle information, they didn't have the right tires in stock. The guy was like, "hey you gave me the wrong tire size and we don't have those". wtf?? I have never in my life given someone a tire size. Until today I thought it was either L or XL. He wrote the wrong size and tried to gaslight me then told me if to come back the next day if I still wanted the tires. I declined and said I would just get the oil change but he called the warehouse and said if I give them an additional 1.5 hrs, they would get could get the tires. I mean, ok...he was so proud of himself like he problem-solved world hunger--it's his job and scrambling to correct a mistake he made is the bare minimum. To make matters worse, the workmanship was sloppy. After installation, I checked my tire pressure (avg 33/34 PSI) and found the PSI ranging between 38-40. I mean, it's a tire shop where you would a professional experience with no mistakes to the tires. Oh then they tried to add a $155 "lifetime tire warranty" or something fee to my bill and I had them take it off. Buyer beware and double-check your invoice. The Oil Change & Inspection: The service was just as frustrating. I was promised a "20-point inspection," yet I left with zero paperwork documenting it and no service sticker in my car to track my next mileage interval. When I called to follow up, I was told someone would call me back in 10 minutes; they never did. When I called back half an hour later, I was told my brake fluid was low--information I should have been given in person so I could have it addressed immediately. When I asked for a copy of the inspection report, I was told they couldn't email or "fax" (?) it because he only had a physical copy and that I would have to drive back to pick it up, which is absurdly inconvenient. I mean, take a pic and text it. Pretty standard. Bottom Line: The only "pros" are that the staff was polite and the online appointment system works. Beyond that, the lack of organization, the hidden fees, and the failure to perform basic professional checks make this place not worth your time or money. I had an appointment at the Big O Tires location on Moorpark Avenue in San Jose for a tire rotation, wheel alignment, and oil change. After dropping off my vehicle around 11:00 AM, I received a call around 2:30 PM telling me my vehicle was ready. During the call, I specifically asked whether the alignment, tire rotation, and oil change had all been completed, and I was told they had. When I picked up my vehicle, I was charged $129 for the alignment and $140 for the oil change. Before leaving, I reviewed the paperwork and discovered that the alignment report attached to my invoice was actually from December 2025, from a previous alignment. I returned to the service desk and asked for the current alignment report. Another employee checked with the technician and informed me that the alignment had not yet been performed. I was then asked to wait another 45 minutes so they could perform the alignment, even though I had already been told the work was complete and had already paid for it. When I requested a refund for the alignment instead, I was initially told that refunds would have to go through corporate. Fortunately, the store manager became involved and arranged for the alignment to be completed that same day. I appreciate the manager's efforts to resolve the issue, but I was disappointed that I had to discover the problem myself after being told the work was completed and after being charged for it. My advice to other customers is simple: carefully review your invoice and service documentation before leaving the shop to make sure all work has actually been completed. read more

This visit, however, was extremely unprofessional. When I politely mentioned that I'd never been charged a certain fee at other shops, Jesus Flores became argumentative instead of simply explaining the policy. He even brought other team members into the conversation to back him up, which felt unnecessary and the worst experience! So now this has become my go-to place for oil change -- NOTE, however, you MUST to tell them to apply the $20 discount to EACH car you bring in or they may forget to do it. That made my Full Synthtic + Filter + tire rotation + detailed all-around check only $70 per car, which is far less than anyplace else I could find. For their complementary check-up they found a minor misalignment on one of my cars and took care of it at no charge, rather than wanting to sell me a full alignment. All other potential issues they just told me about, but none of them needed immediate action and they didn't try to get me to buy anything I didn't need. My work van had a big cut on the edge of my tire and I needed a new tire ASAP on a Sunday and lucky they had my tire in stock and were able to get my new tire installed the same day or should I say the same hour. Went in for a flat repair, no appointment so had to wait a bit, but the staff kept me updated and informed me through the process. I was given the offer to leave my car and come back for it, but I chose to stay. They were professional and also noticed its been awhile since my last oil change so they recommended that I get one. I declined at the time but they did say that they take appointments, and that it would still be a wait it just means that my car is a priority when the next bay or work area (whatever its called) is opened. So yes it still means I am waiting but it means that my car would be worked on before someone who walked in at the same time as my appointment. Then, in their final attempt, they gave me a quote for a valve replacement that was literally DOUBLE what 3 other repair shops quoted me. Last year, I took my car in because my tires were constantly deflating. I kept filling them with air, but it didn't help. They told me there was a needle in one of the tires and assured me they had fixed it. After waiting an hour, I picked up my car, but to my frustration, the tires were still deflating. Clearly, the issue wasn't resolved, and I was left feeling like nothing had actually been done. Determined to fix the problem, I decided to try another Big O Tires, even though it was far away in Foster City. That location was a completely different experience--the staff were so kind and thorough. They actually fixed my tires, and the technician went above and beyond by staying late so I could pick up my car after hours, knowing I had traveled a long way. It's unfortunate that this location is no longer open because their service was exceptional. Recently, I gave my local Big O Tires another chance for a simple oil change and tire rotation (B13 service). The base price was already high at $209, but then they started adding charges for brake lights and a long list of other things. By the end, the total was close to $1,000. I felt like I was being overcharged and pressured into unnecessary repairs. I ended up driving to another Big O Tires in Dublin, where my family goes, and they confirmed that while my brake lights needed fixing, the other services weren't really necessary.
