The nastiest "taco meat" don't ever go there for your taco meat! This looks like chorizo! This is despicable!

I like this place it's a good little store. Lot's of good fresh veg./ and such. Come here all the time. But on my last trip I made the extra bad chose of setting my phone on top of my truck due to a hand full of groceries and a phone call!! A never do but this time and one and only time no no. So now my phone is on trips I'm not. So mad but my own fault any way the phone just a side note the store is ok.

My first time at this store bring in da hood not good for all ur shopping. This like gaving Ralphs or Vons in this part of town so for them its great. I spent 20 bucks the stuff I got was the same price no matter what store I would of went to. This store is very small over priced and produce was not great Food for Less has fresher and nicer with better prices.

Be cautious when purchasing meat!! No glass door on their meat counter.

We stopped here yesterday just for spaghetti and happened to walk by the meat counter to see it was not closed it was an open counter with flies just sitting on the fish. The fish also looked old and dark. Every meat counter I've visited has been closed with glass doors to keep the meat enclosed and protected from air and flies. We also seen a huge fly just sitting on the package meat. Once we got to check out counter the lady in front of us was told by the cashier that her packaged drumsticks had a odor. To see the cashier smell the meat and then to have the odor from the meat to hit our noses was disgusting. Some of the liquid from the meat leaked on the counter and the cashier had to stop and wipe it down. The smell was horrible. Be careful when purchasing meat here. They really need to be inspected by the health department.

The inside was hot and thick and all of the meats in the case were vacuum sealed. They have a paper menu on the counter and sides listed on a chalkboard to the side. I thought it was humid in there but this couple came in after me and they were gushing about how smokey the air was so I think maybe I didnt appreciate the atmosphere for what it was. I got a brisket sandwich (add pickles) and when I asked about sides, he told me mac salad or potato with a preference on the potato so that's what I got. He then gave me a sampler of their smoked dips on crackers and I gotta say the chicken was the best one, but it was pretty expensive. I think it was like 22 dollars for 8 ounces, so I passed. While I was waiting for my food, that other couple came in and they were ordering a LOT. When they asked about sides, the guy gestured to the menu and told them all were available. I was like wait what, I thought (based on the time of day) they only had the two he offered to me. He was like, nah we have more. So then I put in a second transaction to get a side of their chili and red beans and rice. I felt a little weird about it because it was served in the same plastic containers as the cold items, but heated so the sides and lid were all suctioned in. Overall I thought the sides were delicious and service was very kind despite the previous lack of clear communication but my sandwich was just kind of whatever. Plus the menus didnt have any prices so I didnt know how much anything was until it was time to tap my card so it was a little $$$.

My own parents lived around the corner for 30 years before recently moving. My dad and I always used to race here to get our weekend dinner supplies. All in all, this is a great shop. Personable people (family owned for sure), affordable prices, GREAT quality food, clean and full of history. I've even heard from other people who grew up in the area all the way at my work in LA county who rave about that store. My folks may have moved to another state and my father in law is no longer with us, but I for one will keep getting my best meats at this butcher's shop!

Staff is helpful and if you aren't sure what cut you want to buy on the raw meats...just ask! The customer behind me said his Dad wanted pork chops to smoke on the Traeger. They helped him pick the right cut & optional if you want it seasoned or as is. There's a few potatoes, onions, and seasoning in the shelves. A great one stop shop option! (The Char crust brand is great.)

They have high-quality cuts of meats and a small, but nicely curated shop with delicious snacks and pantry staples. I like to come here for their picanha, priced at $19.99 a lb. Usually $20 allows me to walk out the door with two modestly sized steaks that become spectacular when they're finished on my stainless-steel pan at home. I also like their frozen meatballs in their freezer, which adds some really nice savory flavors to my spaghetti and meatballs. They have really high end cuts of meat like wagyu and Japanese A5 meats here; however, that's not really what I come looking for. Their pantry is nicely stocked with quality ingredients. It's hard to not pass up their delicious pork rinds (from 4505 or Southern Recipe) or Mutti marinaras. And if I don't feel like cooking, I can come for lunch in order to walk away with a sandwich that they can make for me. Overall, this is a small shop, that's thoughtfully stocked with some really high-quality ingredients for me to make a nice dinner at home!

If it isn't impeccably clean, clear, and free of any off flavors, the meal is over before it starts. For at least the past four years, La Perla Tapatía has never missed the mark. Every fall and winter weekend--and even on a few summer mornings--it's my destination for a bowl that consistently delivers. The broth is remarkably clean yet deeply savory, allowing the slow-cooked flavor of the tripe and spices to shine without feeling heavy or greasy. Finished with crisp white onion, fragrant cilantro, and accompanied by warm, hand-rolled corn tortillas, it's the kind of meal that reminds you why menudo has earned its place as a beloved tradition. The heart of this experience, however, is the señora behind it all. She prepares, cooks, and serves every bowl with the unmistakable touch of home cooking. Her care is evident in every bite, and if she ever leaves La Perla Tapatía, I suspect my loyalty will leave with her. She is the soul of the kitchen, and her cooking is the reason I return time and again. The setting is exactly what you would expect from a neighborhood Mexican bodega--unpretentious, welcoming, and stocked with the everyday ingredients and staples of Mexican cuisine. It's not polished or trendy, nor should it be. The authenticity of the food is what matters, and on that front, La Perla Tapatía continues to excel.
