We came here a year or so ago....Worth the try. It's nice to have experienced the food here. Intersting menu that's not your typical cookie cut dish. It takes time to look things over on the menu. But I can almost say it's probably all good. Vegetarian options, gluten free, and available gluten free. Very healthy home made American dishes. It's nice to know about this cuisine, it won't be my default restaurant of choice but it was fun, relaxing, great atmosphere and service. Oh and they have chops, lamp, trout, chicken. I dined here on Valentine's Day, and mist say I was really happy with the ease of making reservations, as well as the promptness of the table actually being ready when we arrived. I chose the 3 entree special and was very pleased with everything I had! The scallops were great and my entree of grilled char was phenomenal! Simply put - this place is pure magic. We've been regular guests for a couple of years after discovering this hidden gem with friends. The food is always incredible (try the tomato soup!) and the staff is wonderful. We especially love Heather the bartender! Being a vegetarian who is married to a meat lover, this is one of the few restaurants in St. Louis where my husband and I can both be accommodated. They have incredible options for both of us, and utilize many local farms for their ingredient sourcing! They also offer many gluten free options which is super helpful when bringing guests with dietary restrictions. This has become our go-to brunch spot with friends because it truly is one of the only fine dining restaurants where everyone can find something delicious. And then there's the drinks! The Big Sky Lemonade is my favorite, but if you're looking for something different (and seasonal) this place will not disappoint! Oh, and speaking of seasonal the menu rotates seasonally to highlight all the local ingredients they source. We've never had to wait too long for a table when we've walked in on a Friday or Saturday night (like I said, this place is a hidden gem!) plus they also take reservations. Big Sky is one of my favorite places to go for special occasions. The service is excellent and I love their selections. The hardest part is trying to choose something because there are so many delicious possibilities. I had the spinach salad with squash and pecans, and it was extremely good. I 3 stars only because the food was ok. Prices were a bit more than they should have been based on quantity of food. Service was a bit slow but the place was nearly full, I will give them that one. After scouring the menu for an appetizing looking dish I settled for the pork shoulder. The pork was tasty but dry. Plating was the big issue. Accompanying the pork were apple compote, mashed sweet potatoes and grilled brussel sprouts. Instead of a nice looking plate all components were thrown into a small bowl on top of one another. The 5 stars made me want to try this place, and we chose Mother's Day. Maybe that was the problem? I don't think they are normally open on Sundays? There were 3 of us at 1:30p. They were covid-distanced so not overly busy. I didn't realize that they only served 'brunch' until 2p, closed, then opened again at 4p so the menu was limited. I got the strata, hubby got the eggs Benedict, and son got the country breakfast. The strata was bland and dry. Eggs Benedict was okay along w/the country breakfast. The potatoes served were dry and tasteless even w/the little sauce dribbled on them. Shelly, our server had a dry sense of humor (if she had one) so much so, we didn't have any fun, and we certainly didn't want to ask her anything. BUT, this was upsetting: she chastised another table for letting their grown daughter have a taste of their alcoholic drink! I was shocked so I looked to see if I could tell the daughter's age. Honestly, I think she could pass for 21. Anyway, if that had been me and I was chastised about that, I would have had our family get up and walk out. We went here for lunch (as it was lunch time). We were surprised by their tiny amount of lunch options (literally 3 menu items). They have a separate dinner menu you can't order from for lunch. So don't go there at lunch time. I ordered a lemonade and the waiter assumed I meant an alcoholic lemonade (weird assumption also I can't drink alcohol). We had a reservations at 6:45 pm after the Rep but arrived at 6:30 and whdere seated promptly. I had forgotten how wonderful and eclectic their menu is. I ordered the prix fixe special which consisted of three items for $30: beet and chickpea carpaccio, seared scallops in a marmalade sauce, and hanger steak. Except the hanger steak which was a bit too salty for my taste, it all was not only delicious but beautifully prepared and presented. My companion had the beet salad and NOLA BBQ shrimp and raved about both. We shared an off menu dessert of pound cake with carmel sauce and pineapple. Again superb. If you are adventurous enough to try their menu items, Big Sky is a great experience. Their courteous wait staff is always there to guide you and make suggestions. Dinner for four and couldn't have been better! We decided to split a variety of foods: Brussels sprouts, BBQ shrimp, Scallops, Mac and Cheese, mussels, and tomato soup. The food was very good but took quite a while coming from the kitchen. We didn't mind that so much as we did the attitude and demeanor of server, Phil. We felt treated like second-class people and he spent the entire meal looking down his nose at us. We will never go back if he is in the room. Big sky is a great place for people who like interesting food. The menu is well-constructed, with something for most people at reasonable price points. A lot of the food is locally sourced and the menu is clearly labeled for vegetarians and for those gluten-free. This visit, my wife and I split a small fig tart as an appetizer. I had pistachio-encrusted fish with beets on the side, and we shared a dish of mocha-cherry ice cream with excellent flavor for dessert. It's not a perfect place for everyone or all occasions, but it's certainly a very good option for many people and many occasions. The food was absolutely incredible - 5 star worthy - but it was so noisy and crowded (we came around 6:45 pm on a Saturday, after the Rep.) I have seen others mention the romantic atmosphere...I couldn't disagree more. Tables are close together, it's loud - all fine if you're just looking for good food (and the food was indeed VERY GOOD) - but a major disappointment if you're trying to celebrate an occasion such as an anniversary, as we were. We will probably be back if we come around Webster Groves in the future, because who could turn down another chance at food this delicious?! This is as close to slow food as you will find in a restaurant setting! Cozy atmosphere, gentle music, pleasant staff, NOT CROWDED! And the food is locally sourced, organic if available, and prepared with care! Artwork changes regularly and is for sale by local artists. Water by request only, and check out their Charity Water contribution bottle on the way in. Mostly intimate groups of diners--2 to 4 people; they can accomodate larger groups, but give them a call first, just to be nice. Prices look high, but you are paying for QUALITY food, not frozen or microwaved slop. Also, you don't BOTH need a salad and main dish... "Large plates" are great to get and split between 2 people. "Small plates" if you aren't too hungry, or want to try several items. Table of three, we got Kale Chips, Pot Roast, Dried Cherry and Spinach Salad, Mushroom pasta, Flourless cake and handmade espresso ice cream. Including generous tip: $80 Kale chips alone are worth the trip...they won't fill anyone up, but as an appetizer with the complimentary hummus and artisan flatbread...wow! My boys have enjoyed the hamburger. Husband had the pot roast. Chicken and seafood options as well. Interesting recipes. Ask staff for recommendations or descriptions if you are unsure. NO KIDS MENU but that doesn't mean don't bring them. Saw a couple very happy looking 5-7 year olds out with Mom and Dad. Gluten free items (they have a flourless chocolate cake) are clearly marked, as are vegetarian choices. Menu changes often enough you won't get bored, but not so often you are left without at least one favorite. I hesitate to tell you to go soon and often, because then I might have to wait! Kind of like that it is 'Webster's best kept secret!' But if you want to enjoy the food and not just scarf down the same-old-same-old and connect to your tablemates, give them a try! I'm not sure how I have missed this place but it is phenomenal! I was craving soup so searched in Yelp for "best soup" and they were on the list. For sure the best tomato soup I have ever had! I ordered curbside and got tomato soup, caesar salad and I love mashed potatoes so wanted to give theirs a try. The soup is rich and has so much flavor. I can't put my finger on what I'm tasting but I would guess some type of wine maybe. The Caesar salad was fresh and very good.. The mashed potatoes again not sure what to say, the gravy is almost like a herb cream.. It's amazing big fresh herbs. They also gave me fresh crackers with some type of hummus. And I was surprised and thrilled to open a box they had written "thank you" on and they had put 3 little carrot cake cupcakes in it. Big sky cafe has a delicate Mac and Cheese that was quite enjoyable. Overall, a pretty good experience.

Love love love Big Sky and have for years! The pot roast is my go-to when I'm feeling like I need some comfort, but I've tried near all of the menu and have yet to have anything I disliked! Servers are very attentive, the wine list is so much fun (LOVE the wine flights!), and the food is downright amazing. Try to save room for dessert.
