I can't believe this place exists here in riverside! I'm so glad we found this place. If you want authentic Chinese food, this is the place. The portions are huge, the menu is a representation of the best Chinese dishes. My friend and I took our kids there and we devoured everything that we ordered. The food is served on a big lazy Susan, so you eat family style. One order of Congee soup served 6 of us! The dumplings were full of flavor and melt in your mouth. Ordered mapo tofu and shumai. Shumai was great but the mapo tofu was a total disappointment! I did research on what the dish was beforehand so I was expecting a spicy, numbing classic Sichuan flavor. Probably will be the most unconventional 5 star review I'll ever give. First off, this place always looks like they are closing. The front entrance is always blocked off so you have to walk around to their side door to enter. The interior at times can look a bit like a mess and their staff is always rushing around busy as ever no matter how many people are dining in. Why am I giving them 5 stars? I'm giving them 5 stars because this place has some of the most authentic Chinese food in Riverside. The busyness of the staff goes to show how attentive and quick their service is and this place always reminds me of when I travel to China. Located a few blocks down UCR, Big Sky is a Chinese restaurant that also offers Dim Sum and Chinese BBQ, a rarity in this area. It's a nice and clean restaurant, a very large space. Great Dim Sum here, it's a little different than the places I'm used to in that everything is cooked fresh to order, rather than other places that expect you to hail a cart to get your food and giving them a stamp card in return. It's a little pricier, but the size and quality will quell your initial impressions. My favorites are the har gow, siu mai, spicy wonton, soup dumplings and fried potstickers. Chinese BBQ is also really solid here as well. They offer the meats a la carte, or you can get them in a rice plate with bok choy. I usually do the latter when I'm trying to pick up something quick. If it's your first time here, I highly suggest trying the Crispy Roast Pork, it's one of those foods that will make you wonder how you lived so long without eating it. Crispy skin like a pork rind, beneath layers of lean pork belly and fat. In my opinion, that's the best thing on their menu. Some of my other favorites here included the French style beef cube, pork chops, roast duck, sweet and sour fish, and the BBQ Pork. Service has always been pleasant, a welcome change from the grumpy aunties pushing the carts at my old spots. Waiters are always quick to bus your tables or fill your water. They even made the effort to remember my name, my favorite dishes and even some of the specific orders when I'm ordering for people with dietary restrictions. Really top notch. It used to be that you'd have to make a day and drive out to LA/SGV/OC if you lived in the Inland Empire and had a craving for Dim Sum or Chinese BBQ. I haven't felt a need to make the drive anymore after finding this place, It's a great restaurant that offers stellar food, owned by a good family. I'll definitely be back. read more

Ate dinner here with my boyfriend and our friend! I would always pass by this place and hear all about it, but I never went until recently. The restaurant was fairly empty when we went so we were seated immediately. I was excited to try out their dim sum, but unfortunately they only serve dim sum for lunch. So since we dined here for dinner we were only able to order the dumplings they had as an appetizer. My boyfriend and I ordered their Three Item Combination Rice Plate and chose their Peking Duck, Roasted Pork, and BBQ Pork as our three meats. It came with a side of rice, baby bok choy, and sauces. It tasted delicious! My favorites were the roasted and BBQ pork. Their Peking Duck was just ok. I would have much rather ordered a different meat since I didn't enjoy it too much, it felt a little dry. We also got their Shanghai Juicy Dumplings to share! This was the only thing we could get on the menu that was reminiscent of dim sum for dinner haha. Those were really good! Great for sharing. And finally for dessert we ordered their cute Little Pig Buns filled with custard! Oh my goodness, they are so cute and taste just as delicious as they look! I love custard so these were a great way to end our meal. Highly recommend ordering those here. I would love to come back! Decided to come here last min for a late lunch with some family and went all out. Ordered everything from lobster, noodles , dumpling, buns and all . Everything was amazing ! My family and I are really into dim sum but since moving out to the IE it's been difficult finding a local spot without having to go to drive to dim sum row. I came across Big Skyy Bistro on Yelp - as per usual lol - and decided to check it out. Mom and I came in on a Saturday during lunch time. When we walked in, I was immediately surprised at how large the place is. It is HUGE - there are plenty of tables. I did notice however that there weren't a lot of people. I mostly attributed that to the area and not a lot of people in the area may be exposed to dim sum. It was odd because the dim sum places I have been to have been packed to the brim, especially during the weekends. I also know they're pretty new as well. We were seated and, unlike some dim sum spots where there are carts being pushed around, here you order and they bring it out to you from the kitchen. I prefer this style because the food just seems more fresh. Our waiter was nice and payed attention enough. There was one waiter that was really happy lol which I liked. We ordered the har-gaw, shumai, shrimp rice noodle, chicken feet, shrimp wanton noodle soup and beef noodle soup. Everything was indeed fresh and tasty. I docked one star because I found that they were quite pricey. I've eaten at A LOT of dim sum spots and Chinese food and when I opened their menu and glanced at their prices, I was a little shocked. I think their dim sum prices are about $1-$2 more than typical and their dishes probably $2-$5 more than normal. And normally it wouldn't be an issue but if you're ordering a bunch then that does add up. I think the food is good but not worth the price. I would recommend this spot but I probably would refer people to go somewhere else first rather than here. Parking was plenty and easy to get to. Blown away by my experience here!! My family and I were looking for an Asian restaurant around UCR and came across this place and decided to try it. And boy, aren't we glad that we did. All the food we got was DELICIOUS. We got the Thai Style Butter Crab Fried Rice, the Braised Beef Ribs, the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, the Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Sauteed String Beans, and the Crab Meat with Fish Maw Soup. My favorite was the fried rice and the shrimp dish, but everything was incredibly tasty. My only slight complaint would be that the beef ribs weren't very tender and a bit too chewy, but the umami seasoning made up for it. The service is outstanding, and probably what I was even more impressed by. Everyone is so kind and fun and checked up on us multiple times. Food came out so promptly, and one of the waiters gave us a 10% discount because my sister is a UCR student (so take advantage of this if you go to UCR!). My family and I loved our experience here and will definitely be back when we visit my sister. We ate there for dim sum. They do the dim sum from 11a-3p. You order on a paper, which is easy. I wish they had the ladies with the carts but they do not. It does take a little bit for the food to come out but that is because everything is fresh made to order, which is actually cool for dim sum. The food tastes great and the portions are all as expected or much bigger! The shrimp balls are huge. Even the pork buns are big. My absolute favorite was the shrimp paper one. They flavor it with onions and their version is better than I've ever had at any other dim sum place. A big plus for me was how nice the whole staff was. We will return! read more

It was Christmas day, and I had a huge craving for dim sum. Unfortunately, anything good required at least a fifety-five minute drive, and with a baby, that seemed impossible. With the help of Yelp, my wife and I found Big Skyy Bistro in Riverside. When we glanced at the dim sum menu, we couldn't help but notice the really expensive prices. One large dish was upwards of $7-$8. It was either really delicious and with the price or overpriced. The other thing that we noticed was that there were a lot of dim sum items that were missing such as my favorite "lao sa bao" (runny duck yolk bun). We ordered about seven dim sum items and two noodle dishes (my father-in-lawlaw loves noodles). Strangely enough, the noodles came out first. The portion was really small in comparison to other Chinese restaurants. The taste? Lacking. The dim sum items came about twenty minutes later and they all tasted of white pepper. The best item we had would have to have been the char siu bao. Until our baby daughter can handle longer car rides, this place will have to suffice, although Rancho is better. read more

A co-worker insisted I try this place out, and I'm so glad he did. While the ambiance isn't high end, the service and food are exceptional. I ordered the BBQ pork steamed buns, absolutely heavenly, dumplings which were tender and flavorful and what you expect from a high end restaurant, king Pao shrimp which was perfectly cooked and had a nice spice level to it (not too spicy), beef chow fun and delicious Peking Duck. Our server Lai was so incredibly friendly and made our dinner a special one. The restaurant had fresh live lobster, which I didn't order but another table did, Lai came to the dining room to show to the live lobster to the kids and all the diners which was really fun. This place was a first for us. We're from out of town and was searching for a lunch spot. We came in when they opened. They didn't have the lights fully on when we were eating till another family came in. The food was really good. Not all dim sum selections but enough for 2 people.
