Still exploring Florida as a Snowbird. Heard that this was a good place to eat. Upon first walking and was very impressed with how big the restaurant was. The waitress staff was very friendly in fact one of our friends was there - it was his birthday so I was going to send over a dessert. When I called his waitress over she told me that they do that complementary. So we did all sing to him and he had a great time. As far as the food I got salad with chicken on it it was really very bland, my husband got the meatloaf and he said he would not order it again. Pretty legit dinner located in Winter Haven! It's not often that I go to Winter Haven, but I've checked this place out, twice and have no regrets. When I work in Winter Haven, I'm usually in a rush, early in the morning and forget to eat breakfast. When I finally get to Winter Haven, before arriving to the office, I call this dinner and ask for breakfast to go. Twice I've had their "two-eggs, any style, with turkey bacon (you have to pay extra for turkey bacon), hash-brown and a buttery biscuit". Less than $7.00, taxes included you say? Yup! Tasty and prepared fresh you say? Oh yeah! Friendly service and a clean restaurant too? Yes, siree! Last, but not least... Breakfast is served ALL DAY! I enjoy going to a locally owned diner when I want good food at a reasonable price. Big Tom's Diner has never disappointed me on either the food or the price. I live in a tourist area with so many franchise restaurant!! In order for the local restaurant owner to compete the food must be good and plentiful. Big Tom's hits that mark. As for the service. It at times can be a little slow. Usually because it is so busy there!! The servers are friendly. The food is hot when it gets to the table. Every server I have had there is very attentive to my needs and wants. Therefore, if at times it seems a little slow that does t affect my over all rating This place reminds me of the diners of my youth!! Please give it a try! I think you will enjoy it!! read more

Great atmosphere and hearty portions. We stopped to fill our bellies while on a trip. Breakfast was very good and service was great.

A typical dinner fare and great service. The chili hot dog is enormous! And I can't start praising their omelets.

My favorite meal at Big Tom's diner is fried fish and eggs breakfast. A big huge flakey piece of white fish and two medium over eggs for dipping my rye toast. The fish is soooo good! I highly recommend! read more

Ordered the chicken tenders and to my surprise I found this BIG ROACH!! Very disgusted and completely lost my appetite, would have given this a 0 STAR!! The staff didn't make it seem like a big deal sadly. I am not one to make a scene but probably should of this is BAD!! read more

I gave Big Tom's another chance. The first time didn't go well. We were a group of 6 big people and they put us in a table for 6 small people. To say not happy. Understatement. You all have to be in the restaurant. but they are holding an 8 top for a phone in. So, I just left it for others. Now, a month later, just 2 of us went back. We got to our table right away it was a 4 top. We ordered and got our food . Yes, our breakfast was exactly as ordered, and the pancakes were fluffy and tasty. The eggs were perfect and tummy. And the hashbrown casserole is better than anyone else's. A good solid place to eat the staff is nice and good. It's clean and the prices are right. Once a week is our timetable. This business is horrible on every level visible and invisible to the customer's eyes. The wait time is incredibly long. The food is a poorly prepared mess on a dirty plate with bacon or hash browns, and omelette ends touching the greasy table hanging off the plate. read more

First visit to Big Toms, won't be our last! Stopped by for a brunch-time meal, and ordered top sirloin and eggs with hash browns. The steak was much bigger than the 6 oz on the menu, and fire grilled, making my mouth water, thinking about it. A very busy restaurant, but plenty of real professional servers. If you are looking for a place to get a good breakfast for a decent price this is the place to go to. The food is good. The portions are good size and priced right. The biscuits are nice big fluffy ones. Add gravy and that is the start to a wonderful breakfast. The wife and I ordered the BIG TOM and shared it for a very filling meal. Nice Place. Decorated with retro signs, checked tablecloths, wooden everything. I got there just in time Sunday morning, only a few people waiting. When I left, 30 people were waiting. Best to worst on the plates/cups: Hash Brown Casserole - not sharing; don't even ask! Coffee - good and strong. Toast - quality bread toasted perfectly, served buttered. Eggs - done as I asked. Pancakes - Okay, see Big Nit below. Pork chops - thick, dense, kind of dry. Flavorless except for the strong char from the grilling. Won't order these again. Other - Attentive service, pay at the table, coffee topped up often. Asked if I wanted a glass of water when I ordered my coffee. Asked if I liked lemon in my water. Extra points for those two. Big nit - If they serve real half and half why do they not serve real butter? The oleo spread offered at the table would spread, but not melt on the pancakes, and DID NOT TASTE BUTTERY. Really enjoyed our trip to Big Tom's Diner yesterday. Not down that way often, but had a 5 hour wait for a COVID test up the street (rapid - came back negative!) and we were starving!! Being from NY, the FL concept of a diner is typically a bit different, but this was a great local representation of our normal local diner back in our hometown. Huge menu, disco fries, ton of great apps and desserts, and of course, breakfast all day. Hubby got the corned beef hash and eggs - came with toast, a potato product (he for hash brown casserole), and toast. He said it was very tasty!! I got the chicken gyro - sliced grilled chicken, veggies, tzatziki sauce, all on a nice fresh pita. Great crinkle cut fries as well!! Everything needed some salt, but it was right there on the table for us, so no worries! Definitely recommend and would come back again if we're down in Winter Haven! read more

This used to be my favorite place to eat. But while we were just there My Husband felt a bug on his leg picked it up and was like babe what is this and I knew instantly that it was a bedbug. I told her waitress and she got the manager/owner the owner decided that we should just move tables. So we moved tables and then decided that it's just so disgusting we had to leave. On the way out there was a bedbug still biting my ankle I showed the owner and he begged me not to call the health department. Offered me a gift card to keep my mouth quiet telling me that it's a small family run business please don't destroy them. All I wanted was to enjoy a good lunch with my husband and son and said we got a minimum of two bedbugs. Sitting at a booth near the Havendale side. We will never be back. sooo much anxiety I have a terrible fear of bedbugs I'm 1000% sure it is bed bugs in there. The portion is pretty generous. Do not order an appetizer unless you have like a party of 4. It'll fill you up pretty quickly before the entrees arrived. The price is very affordable. Me and the kids usually come here very often, we had a party of 7 majority was kids. We checked in they asked to wait outside okay that fines. Here goes 40mins goes by mine you they said 30mins wait as they got busier. So I came in to checked how much longer tell me why people that came way after getting seated, when I asked them he say I have two tables but y'all have to sit separately, at this point it been an hour passed kids are hungry and hot. Moral of this is when you minority people tends to treat you as if you not human. I've not ever step foot in that restaurant, I will not support racism to get treated as less we deserved way more than what is served. read more

Big Toms Diner is a very good place to eat for me and my wife because the portions are a good size for the money. the food is always hot when brought out to our table as a lot of people deal with is cold food when it is to be hot at other restaurants. stop in and you won't be disappointed. read more

I was really disappointed after reading all the good reviews. My pancakes were pretty awful, the eggs were rubbery, and they didn't have real maple syrup. The bacon was good, well cooked and crispy but not burnt. My husbands hash browns were soggy, no crispy bits in sight. His eggs were cooked nicely over-medium, but they were very salty. Maybe it was a bad day, I might try it again in the future. read more

Only been here once since moving to Winter Haven from Miami. The prices are fair especially for the large portions. We ordered like we normally do, couple appetizers, couple entrees and let's just say a large portion of the food came home with us. I wasn't a fan of the brown gravy on the chicken fried steak but everything was delicious and we'll definitely be back. If I could make one suggestion to management, it'd be to sign up for Uber eats. I'd definitely be ordering from Big Tom's several times a week if I could have it delivered. read more
