This is a cool little sandwich shop a few businesses down from the towns main supermarket. It's a small shop but we didn't have any trouble seating ourselves as a large group. The customer service is great and the wait time for our food was surprisingly fast. The food is made to order and you can tell they use fresh ingredients for each sandwich. They have a lot of local flavors that at first seem kind of odd but taste very good. The employee taking our order explained the sandwiches we were interested in and ultimately chose a few he recommended. The sandwiches are big and even if you have a bid appetite you will get full. Biggies serves local, ethical meat and their prices are lower than Subways! My husband and I got the steak hoaggie combo. They offered to serve it on two plates for us without us asking, and brought it to our table. It was a lot of food for the money and the sandwich was awesome. The reason for the four star rating is the fries were a little underdone. I think they should raise the temperature of their oil a bit to get crispier, less greasy ones. I wanted so much to give them fives stars, and if their fries were great or good instead of alright, definitely would have. read more

On vacation and looking for a quick sandwich place as we were driving through town. Found this place doing a quick search on line as we entered town. What a great place! Subs were just simply awesome. I recommend the Green Chili Philly! Awesome choice and so delicious. Biggie fries was a big hit as the serving size was perfect for the 4 of us! Plenty of fries for everyone! The cool thing about their fries is they are real potatoes. Weird I know. Testament to these types of places is when the locals eat here, it's usually a dead giveaway. I live in Wisconsin and I traveled to the Buena Vista area for a fishing trip with my buddies this summer. We happened upon this place by chance, and ended up eating there three times in a week. The owner is such a nice guy, and their food is outstanding. Best sandwiches I have ever had. The food was delicious; however, I will NOT be back. The lack of cleanliness was disturbing. From watching an employee remove his mask, wipe the sweat from his forehead and hair, then grab French fries from the fry basket with the same gloves...I was done. Then, another employee answered the phone, handled money, opened doors, and touched patio tables with the same gloves...and went back to cooking. I was hesitant to eat the food, but did, and it was really good. I just couldn't shake the lack of cleanliness. I called code enforcement with the city to file a complaint. read more

3.5 stars for me. 3 for the food and the extra for the friendly folks runnin the place and the fact I like small town places like this. Definitely not as good as alot of reviews here - that or they haven't had a really good sub place and only frequent Subways. Compared to Subway, definitely better all around. No Planet Subs or Snarf's, not close. Had a BLT sub and it was ok. Nothing special really. Ok bun - not freshly baked, ok lettuce and tomato. Tasty bacon but not the really good thick local farm kind. Decent and I'm sure very tasty if I just hiked Mt. Princeton but not so much otherwise. That said you are in Buena Vista so your options aren't expected to be great and it does the job. Will definitely try some other options when in town again. read more

A unique spin to subs/hoagies/sandwiches you'll find in Buena Vista. My husband and I stopped by after an all day hike in the mountains so we were hungry and wanted something filling and satisfying. We ordered the Biggie and the Green Chili Philly with an order of large fries on the side. They were nice to accommodate subbing and omitting certain condiments and sides. The sandwiches were filling and delicious. Fresh and made to order, they were hot and just what we were looking for. Yesterday was our 3rd time to Biggies. Over the last few years it has been a great mid-way stop after a long motorcycle ride or a hard hike. They haven't cared when we've ridden up in smelly biker leathers, or when we've trudged in dusty and sweaty and exausted, and they've always been friendly. You order at the counter and they'll bring your food out to you on a plastic tray and paper plates. The place is a small aging building with a very basic, no frills interior complete with two mounted elk heads, a lynx (or maybe a bobcat, but I didn't look that closely) along with an old wooden screen door, one bathroom. Outdoor seating consists of two picnic tables right outside the front door. I like their wraps and hoagies - nothing special but hearty. The fries are fresh, though somewhat greasy (but by the time I get there I've usually burned several hundred calories so I relish it), and one order of these, even as part of a combo, is enough for two to share. Inexpensive. I rated it for what it is and no more, and based on how it has satisfied us. read more

Excellent food. I got a salad which was fresh and tasty. My kids got chicken tenders which were huge. They give large portions of the fries and chicken so think smaller if your not super hungry.
