Okay, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt because at least they read their reviews and am upping my stars for that reason. An hour or two after my initial post today, the owner of the company finally called my husband back (I am assuming because he saw my one star review and it wasn't a mere coincidence). He told him that his phone has been broken this week. That is a possible legitimate excuse but it should still not take several days and a one star review to motivate a business owner to call back. Meanwhile another exterminator we called since this one didn't initially respond was a no show today because apparently a co-worker died. I am not saying neither story is true, but in this day and age with technology, I am surprised companies don't take better measures to find alternate modes of communication when there are internal issues or emergencies at the company. We will see who my husband ends up hiring and I will gladly modify my review again as appropriate. ----- My husband left a message with their answering service (the 800 number kept giving him a busy signal) a few days ago and still nobody has called back. We are hoping it is just a fluke as there are only 5 star reviews below. We will need to try another exterminator I suppose. read more

Timely response from Steve after seeing 2 mice in my home that completely freaked me out. My cat thought she had some great new toys. Steve did a wonderful job from basement to attic blocking out entry ways for the critters to get in, baiting the whole house with pet proof bait traps and giving me great info to keeping the house mice free. They give you great tips to help other pests and how to stop the problem from persisting on your end vs. just laying bait and leaving. Let's start at the beginning, a natural place to commence. I called Biggins following a week of terror involving mice. It actually wasn't the mice that were the terror, but rather that cat bringing them to us in bed at 3:00 am, but I digress...the mice had to go. Steve was extremely pleasant on the phone, walking me through what he'd do and what I could expect. Biggins wasn't the cheapest option (only by about 50 bucks though) for a one year guarantee, and after a read through of Yelp, my wife and I decided these were the guys to go with. So far, so good. Steve showed up exactly on time. And I mean exactly. I was wondering if he was sitting on my stoop waiting till an alarm went off before knocking immediately. Super polite, covered up his shoes right away, and started walking me through what he'd do. Since I was on a conference call at work he got right down to it after the tour and was extremely respectful of the fact that I couldn't chat. He finished up about the same time as my call, and actually took the time to walk me through the house to show me the results, and then he even walked me around outside to show me areas that I should pay some attention to to prevent other critters. Here comes the up sell, right? Wrong. His sales pitch amounted to "you can really do all of this yourself and save some money." I waited for the "but I could do it better" but that never came. He legit showed me trouble areas, told me a few fixes, and that was that. Again, I digress... With a one year guarantee on the mouse control I'm really confident in the results, but I'll check back in a few months to confirm. Call a few places, talk to a few people, and I'll bet you the last call you make is to Biggins to say "yup, we want you." read more

I had a situation with some rodent friends, and I've never had to deal with that in the past. We tried all the tricks we saw on the internet, the bait, the traps, the trips ot home depot. Nothing worked. We called Biggins' because of all the great reviews online, and Steve was very helpful. He made an appointment to come in the next day, and it was a Saturday! He explained that he doesn't normally do that, but was interested in building the relationship. Long story short, they came, they saw, they solved the problem! Turns out there was a few issues, and we blocked a tiny hole, so we didnt even have to kill any of them, and the problem is solved! No Mice! Big Ups to Mr. Biggins! Ugh, mice in our whole huge apartment building. It was terrible and I wanted to catch them all and free them somewhere else but as "Mr. Biggins" (is that even his name?) explained, there truly is no way to deal with mice with nice. So, he came out first thing on a Sat morning and baited the building, and in 4 days the house was quiet again at night. I would highly recommend them! We heard noises in the attic and had a different company come out and tell us it was mice and they were going to bait with poison. We called Biggins and they came out to do a thorough inspection. They set 41 traps and came back a week later- no mice! It was a squirrel that had gotten in! This is a great family company (dealt with both father and son) that is knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They were recommended by a friend; they will be my first choice for all future problems. I had a bed bug problem in my apartment in the Fenway area. The landlord was pretty accommodating and arranged for an exterminator (not Biggins) to come spray the apartment on their dime. The company sprayed and I believe they took care of MOST of the problem. They never spoke a word to us after the first phone call to set up an appointment, so we had no clue what they were doing or what to expect. I had little to complain about because the landlord was paying. Weeks after they finished spraying we still suspected we had bed bugs. We were preparing to move to a new apartment and did not want to bring any of these little blood-sucking bastards with us. A friend recommended Biggins Exterminating and we called to schedule an appointment. Steve Biggins called me and explained what they do and what we should to (the first company never explained this). We set up a time and his son came to do the actual work. Biggins Jr. (his name is Steve, too?) was prompt, about 15 min early, and ready to get to work. I only had to let him in and discuss the problem for about 5 minutes, which was great because I had to get to work. He was extremely polite and easy to talk to, told me exactly what he would do and where he would do it. He said he would also call me to follow up with what he found AND he would leave a receipt detailing the chemicals he used and the treatment process. Awesomely thorough! He called as promised and really put my mind at ease. If you ever have had bed bugs you know how traumatic of an experience it can be...these guys are very reassuring. We are now bed bug free in our new place 2 months and counting. I recently purchased a home and called to book a pest inspection. I called on a Wednesday and my house was serviced that same week on Friday. My appointment was between 1:00-1:30 and Steve and Tyler arrived within the given time frame. They were so polite. I went over my concerns with them and they went right to work. They inspected my house on the inside and outside. Then after went over a treatment plan with me and treated my home based on their findings. I was super impressed. We recently had the pleasure of working with Steve to solve a mouse problem in our new home. The mice were coming in through the basement, and the previous owners had allowed them to set up shop in the old range and dishwasher. We called Biggins, and they were on site by the end of the week. Steve blocked up all entry points in the foundation, made recommendations for tightening up access points in our bulkhead, and blocked entry points behind our new appliances. He set snap traps in the basement, kitchen, and attic to deal with the mice immediately coming and going. He returned a few days later to collect the snap traps and set out bait stations (non-toxic to our pets) for the long term. After working with Steve, we feel really comfortable that we've sufficiently dealt with our mouse problem and that we won't have any unwelcome guests inhabiting our new appliances. It's worth mentioning that Steve is a GREAT guy. I worked from home both days he was on site, and we chatted for over an hour each time. I wouldn't work with anyone else. read more

Steve is a real pro, extremely friendly, knowledgable, and great to work with. He is the type of contractor who will give you the right advice on things you can do yourself even if it means he could otherwise make more money from you. We brought him here to do carpenter ant treatment, and he did internal and external treatment, explaining everything very well and giving lots of great advice along the way. He was also able to locate the exact spot of their colony, which is not always possible but Steve knows everything about pests so he was able to do it. He's been in the business for 35 years and when it comes to ants, wasps, etc that type of experience makes a difference. He could have charged me to spray a paper wasps nest on my garage but he did it for free. He spotted where I have carpenter bees and let me know how I can treat it myself, so another costs savings there too. I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but I had to this time. Steve was truly my superhero! My husband was out of town last week when I woke up to a bedroom literally filled with dozens of yellow jackets - some dead, some dying, some very much alive and with more "friends" joining them every minute. I sealed off the room as best as I could and started googling "exterminators." Although I was tempted to call one of the "big companies," after reading reviews on multiple sites, my instincts told me to go with Steve. And he was the perfect choice! He came out that same morning, found the nest in my bedroom wall (yikes!) AND another one on the ground outside my front door. Mr. Biggins was the only one of four exterminators that returned my phone call. He was able to come out within 24 hours and took care of a wasp nest we had under our house. Bee problem! After calling, Steve called me immediately back and even came earlier then our agreed upon time.
