So happy to have this awesome hardware store right in my neighborhood- I go here very often! Being a new home owner and a woman I always need help finding odd parts and they always have what I need and are super helpful in explaining and answering my thousand questions. They also have great home decor and outdoor furniture. Only once have I had to go down to one of the big box hardware stores because Ace normally has everything I need and they are much more helpful :) They also always welcome my dogs in the store which is nice! read more

After shopping here for 25+ years, I thought it was time to sing its praises. ACE always has what I need. It is extremely well stocked and if something is not in stock, they will quickly order it. Most importantly is their staff! There is always a very knowledgeable staff person to answer my questions. And they all know who is the expert for each department. Sometimes they explain how to fix my project without buying anything. Sometimes they will suggest a better solution. But I know that ACE's staff is always available, friendly and helpful. read more

I must preface by saying I have enjoyed this store since 1993! Today was exceptional due to the service, friendliness and assistance from Marta, Sunny & Mae. Our kitchen sink hose sprayer black button broke off. I had been looking for the brand replacement sprayer only, at other Ace stores and amazon, since we had just purchased and installed the faucet last summer. I couldn't find the Oakwood brand replacement anywhere. There was a display faucet. After learning that it had been discontinued they stopped my search and gave me the sprayer complimentary!! I always love these people as they are always helpful and accommodating. On my way out I purchased 2 wicker outdoor rocking chairs and 2 side tables. Only 1 would fit in my Chevy Volt, but another staff member who drives a Chevy Bolt, offered to follow me home with the other chairs, but alas it didn't fit in her car. I came back for the other chair and. I also dropped off my knives and they were sharpened at just $3. each. I used them last evening and they are sharp!! I also picked up some floral items to Easter up the yard. I detest big box stores of any kind. This is always so easy and convenient in my own neighborhood. We live near the Ace on Clayton Road in Concord. Although we also shop at the big box stores, this is our 'go to' store for every day hardware needs. They have always been helpful, but today they outdid themselves. I had all the parts to install shelving in a Rubbermaid garden shed. I had watched all the videos and read all the instructions. So had my husband. Things just would not fit properly. I took some photos and headed to Ace. Mario and Paul took me under their wings and started to figure out a workaround. They were amazing as it was not an obvious fix. (I had the impression they were enjoying the challenge!) I now have a working shelf in the garden shed. A BIG shout out to Mario and Paul. Bill's Ace Hardware on Clayton Road rocks!! One again, the staff provided amazing service. I needed a replacement tire for my wheelbarrow and the axle on my rim did not fit any of the premounted tires. The salesperson found someone who had experience in this area. He helped me select the proper tube, offered great advice, popped one side of the tire off the rim, greased the axle and provided me with a few paint stirring sticks! I went home, used the advice to complete the task and my wheelbarrow tire now holds air. I now have a working wheelbarrow after struggling with it for one year. Ace Hardware is the best!! read more

I wish I could give them a 10 star rating! From the time I entered the front door I felt like I was an important person, even though all I needed was a key made. Gerard was not only a great help, but a friendly and knowledgeable employee. If the employees are a reflection of the management then management is definitely doing something right because everyone was a step ahead of any one I have dealt with previously at other stores. At a time when Big Box Hardware Stores and Amazon seem to absorb so much of the volume in this retail category, you have to admire and be grateful for the locally owned Ace Hardware Stores and the extraordinarily competent and pleasant people they employ. Today, for example, I had the good fortune of being served by Katie at the Bill's Ace Hardware on Clayton Road in Concord. Katie's positive attitude, creativity, and seemingly unlimited knowledge on how to fix the most obscure equipment problems imaginable held me in amazement. You won't find people like Katie at Big Box Stores. People like her, able and willing to help you even when the cost of the parts involved is modest, are few and far between in this day and age. (How they attract and retain people like Katie is another story in itself that's worth pursuing.) I was so grateful for her assistance, I bought a cordless power drill I really didn't need, just to show my appreciation. Next time you need some advice on fixing something, make sure you ask for Katie! read more

I have been going to Bill's Ace Hardware for years. The help at this store is always so friendly. If I ever need any help with a project or problem I can always get the answers I need. "John" is my "go to" person he has the answers to everything I ever need to know. I believe he has been there the longest. Although every sales person at this store either has the answers or will get the answers for me. The last time I was in I met a fairly new person named "Marta" and she was so friendly and helpful along with "Monica" who has been at the store for quite a while and checked me out. I bought plumber's putty Ace brand. On the front of the container it states " Satisfaction Guaranteed Ace Promise". It says on the back Ace Putty NEVER cracks harden flakes crumbles or shrinks. I kept the container on a shelf in the garage. and after a few months it did all of the above. I took the $5.00 product to get an exchange. The girl at the register asked for my receipt I explain I dont have one but it says it's an Ace product and pointed out Ace promise and satisfaction guaranteed and what it said on the back. She refused to exchange it or honor Ace's guaranteed. But pointed out the crack shrink hardening and flakes were some how my fault. and I could still use what was at the bottom of the container. She refused to honor Ace's "Promise Satisfaction Guaranteed". For $5.00 I didn't want to argue and ruin my day. Went to Orchard supply spent $100.00 on plumbing supply's at Orchard Supply. Bill's Ace lost a $100.00 to save $5.00. read more

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by both the cashier and the guys selling the children's hospital buckets, Gabe was especially helpful, he told me all about the 20% off promotion and even walked around with me and helped me find everything I needed and more. VERY disappointed in the customer service at this location. Was told they have professionals that know how to assemble BBQ grills. This is false. They do not know how to properly assemble a basic BBQ grill. Better off doing it yourself. Management needs to improve their ability to provide true value in their work. Don't make the mistake of buying a grill from here, go elsewhere. read more

I absolutely love this Ace Hardware store! It is jam packed with everything you need from a hardware store. It has tons of great home decorations and is great for every holiday season. It is an "easy in - easy out" store. Not like the big box hardware stores in town! And of course, you can always get assistance from the "helpful hardware man" ... A customer who recently reviewed this store sent me a message about my earlier review, indicating that people "need more context", specifically, asking what I was wearing the day that the Ace worker made inappropriate comments and checked out my butt when I stooped down to get an item (suggesting I may have been dressed provocatively). Well, for those who need to know, I was wearing loose-fitting jeans, flats and a sweater that day (I had friends visiting, so I have pics of myself after the store visit). So, no...was not drawing attention to myself. On weekends, I don't even wear make-up. While I'm 'here', I'm afraid I can't give them a better rating since my previous review. I tend to go to Osh now, which is closer to my house. The selection is not as good there as Ace, but I still have had mixed feelings about the service at Ace since my first review. read more

I usually don't review store but this store affected me so much that I want people know about it. Not just one time but three time I was disappointed in this store. There is absolutely no help in the store, the employee hides between rows and when you approach them they look at you like they do not want to be bothered and went you ask they makes you feel bad in a certain way and regret asking them. The employee are ALL old people they must know about customer service but no they ignore you. One time I asked a lady to make a cut for me I wanted 6ft long of the item and she said with out stop walking away from, no we have them in 5ft long in boxes until another female employee came and did the cut for me. Another time I asked I was looking for an item and asked an employee for an item that was hard to find in the shelves and he was trying to avoid the row I was in, funny and sad, until I saw the item and he goes hey you find it and happy to don't have to look for it like he wasn't interested in helping customer. At all time you get into that store the employee look like they are busy doing nothing and avoiding customers in between the rows. The third time I was there in need of paint, the lady who does it was busy talking to her college about the Halloween costumes and laughing leaving two customers waiting for help on the paint and went I went and called her she finally come to help me I was asked to come back in a bit until they mix the paint. after a while I returned to the paint area, the lady and another man where mixing the paint and redoing it again and again because they did mistakes and the man talking to the lady in a rude way he didn't listen to her and he did the mistake. After a while I saw my paint ready and waiting on the counter for more than 10 mn I asked the man for my paint and he said I am busy as you can see and I told him my paint is ready just hand it to me, you know what he said? get it yourself ! at that moment I was pissed off and told the lady why he is so rude and the man reply to me is there a problem and at that moment I got really mad... did I said disappointed three times? well I was wrong a forth time I went there to return a product that I needed 10 of them and bought some only because they were expensive, you know what I went that morning to home depot and found the same items three for the price of one at Bill's ace what a rip off !! I rushed to return them and guess what another problem again. the young girl who did the return call not just one time or two BUT four time for a manger approval and none answered her until she got pissed off her self and when answered the assistant or the manger didn't bother to come to the register they just authorized her over the phone and that was really weird thing I never saw before. In conclusion I will never go back to that store again and I will always discourage people to go their for their BAD customer service, no help at all and no courtesy or smile. read more

I needed lots of LED Christmas lights so decided on Ace Hardware, Concord after reviewing their website selection. Upon arrival, I noticed that the price listed online was lower than what it was tagged in the store. Puzzled, I checked the product #, same one. Hmmm. A very helpful clerk, Tex, checked out the website to make sure what was going on and assured me that they would honor the website price. He started to look for the number of boxes of lights i needed, but was called away and someone else, K.K. was sent over to help me. K.K.has helped me many times - she knows her stuff and is very good at what she does. I have to say that most of the people there really work at satisfying the customer. Anyway, K.K. was tasked with searching for many reels and boxes of lights for me that were tucked in various places in the store. Then because I had 2 carts of stuff, and only one of me, she took one cart out to my vehicle and helped me load. Such good service. thanks!!!! read more

In fact i flip houses for a living and probably make more per year than all of your employees combined. I am in your store once or twice a day spending a good deal of money, or at least i used to be. Today I feel like i was being treated like a common criminal having to be escorted to the cashier with a precious little $11 paint brush.......really? Do you think i need to steal a paint brush?.........have a little more respect. I went into Bill's Ace Hardware on Clayton Rd today out of dire necessity. My car keys slipped out of my pocket in the Food Maxx parking lot. As I watched them drop through the iron grate 4 feet into a disgusting pool of standing, dirty water I felt utter despair. At the suggestion of a stranger in the parking lot I went into Ace asking if anyone could help me. Mark immediately went out to the parking lot. My car was partially on top of the grate and being unable to move it, he was forced to get on his hands and knees to try to remove the grate. When he removed the grate and it fell into the hole he went back into the store for help. Thomas, the manager returned with Mark. Between the two of them they retrieved my keys and replaced the grate. Then they took me back into the store, opened my key fob, cleaned, dried and put it back together for me. This was service beyond my wildest dream, to a stranger who walked in off the street. Imagine the service their customers receive! I am an Ace Hardware customer and have always received excellent customer service. if I were not a customer already I would be now, based on my experience today. Plus, if they don't have it, you don't need it. I am so thankful for Mark and Thomas today. read more

I love this location. It's a lot closer for me then a Lowes or HD and I can actually find someone to help me if I need it. I was in there yesterday and had at least 4 people ask if I needed help in a span of 10 minutes. Yes, you aren't getting dirt cheap prices, but that is because you are paying for the knowledge and help of their well trained staff. It's great if you are doing small projects around your house or need something a little unusual (glass chalk, small animal traps, etc). read more

I love this store! I go to Home Depot or Lowes when I need lumber, but for everything else I go here. There are always several people to help me. Even my husband, who would never ask for help, gets the help he needs because the employees come up to him. The employees have gotten me through many projects and have filled the gap left when Yardbirds closed. We really appreciate a store with old fashioned friendly service! read more

This is one of the last good hardware stores around here. They have a great selection of repair items that are becoming difficult to find at big box stores and fake hardware stores like OSH. Their real asset is their employees though, especially the older employees. They have an older gentleman, John, who works there- he is an absolute human encyclopedia of hardware knowledge. I've never been able to stump him, no matter how obscure the item/question. There's another guy, whose usually around plumbing (I think his name is Don), who's also very knowledgeable. Been going here for years to keep my house in good repair and plan to continue going here. read more
