I was looking for a 12ft ladder online, saw that both Ace and Home Depot had the same ladder but Home Depot was offering it for about $40 less. I called Linda, a supervisor at Ace hardware and she not only agreed to price match over the phone but she was kind enough to assist me when I went to the store. There was another helpful lady who also helped me but I did not get her name. So not only did I get a great deal, received excellent service but they will be delivering this ladder to my house for free. I think I found my new go to hardware store. read more

I cannot tell you how fantastic this Ace Hardware is and the customer service is unbelievable. As you all know customer service has gone down the tubes lately. I inquired about a bar b que that was miss manufactured on delivery. We couldn't figure out what was wrong. Worked on it for hours. Since moving back to the Bay Area two weeks ago, I've been in the store at all hours to buy wire management kits to drill bits to today's purchase a new(to me)Big Green Egg. While already reduced in price since it was "used"(barely), they knocked off a bit more off on the price,delivered it(with a courtesy call prior)and threw in a bag of charcoal with a bow as a birthday gift. It went through the whole store with but at the same time helping others. If i would have Employees like him at the last company I worked for we would have made every Bonus the company had. I needed a few basic tools and tried Walmart at first. That was not good. Everything was behind locked up glass and it was nearly impossible to get someone to unlock the glass doors. I drove to Ace Hardware over by my house and they had a very impressive selection of tools. Great price ranges also. I think they could compete with Harbor Freight. This is exactly why I go to Ace Hardware versus Home Depot or Lowe's. I came in with my Stihl 16inch Chainsaw with the intention to either purchase a new chain or to purchase a new 18inch bar and a new chain. The 16 inch chainsaw is a very popular product and the chains are often out of stock, Not just at this ace hardware but online (Amazon) and through the Stihl website. The first ace employee (Sorry I didn't get their name) I worked with today was lovely, very kind, very professional and told me that Ken was the best person to help me and he was! We picked out a new bar for the chainsaw but unfortunately my model of chainsaw would not take the larger bar, but Ken was able to help me purchase a different brand of chainsaw chain that would fit the Stihl product and he even installed it for me which was terrific that way we knew it worked before I left the store and I didn't have to come back. Usually this place is great. Today, not so much. With the poor air quality, I called to see if there were any masks left. The lady that answered said yep, there's two - they will be gone soon. Okay. I was there in less than 5 minutes and I saw the same lady (name I will not mention) put a box underneath the counter and say "sorry, this last one is for the manager." Have to thank Tom and his team for a great experience! Decided to purchase new Weber Geniuses grill. Went to 2 Ace stores in Walnut Creek, at both stores staff pointed me to Weber's and went about doing store activities, never asked me what I was looking for. Here completely different experience, greeted shown what was available including sakes items. Sakes person said let me get Tom to help. Tom started asking questions, went to catalog and says he could have delivered in a week. Purchased Tom introduced me to person who would complete sale was offered discount coupon to use for any grilling need that might come up in next 30 days. Delivered set up and demonstrated how to use new grill. Week later had small issue with grill lighting, called Tom he sent repair person out in 72 hours! Favi on the sales floor- available and does her absolute best to ensure she located what you came to buy. She goes out of her way to ensure the product is sound and arranged for delivery. Spectacular! Thomas in store management- available at 8:00 am to arrange for delivery. Checked the truck to ensure product was onboard and ready to go. Confirmed delivery window and told me who to expect at my door. Superb in terms of safety and service. Jordan and Cory for delivery: so polite, nice, and strong! They provide the best in home delivery I have experienced in a long time. They wore masks and were so careful so as to not knock my items nor mar any surfaces. Bravo! Instead of buying 24" florescent white light-bulb at Home depot, or Amazon, I decided to support by local merchant at Bill's Ace Hardware. I needed a tube light and found it at Bill's Ace Hardware. I expected to spend about $8 dollars with taxes. Bill's Ace was selling it for $11.99 plus taxes. I bought the tube light at around $13.00. This is the last time I will shop at this store. I went to Bill's Ace Hardware for just a little screw to secure a handle on my tub. I didn't know the length or size, so I was at a disadvantage from the beginning. I entered and not being mechanically inclined I just walked the isles. A wonderful young woman named Hayley came up to me and asked me if I needed some help. I told her my dilemma and instead of just giving me an isle number, Hayley took me to the right isle, not only that, but she measured and sized the screw to be accurate. Hayley's attitude was not rushed or vague but helpful and friendly to which any patron would appreciate. After Hayley found the right screw, she asked me if there was anything else I needed. STOCK and SERVICE There's just about nothing we've not been able to find at Bill's. From the common to the somewhat obscure, we've been able to find everything for our home projects. We visited them quite a bit within the first six months of our new home purchase. I'm sure they recognize us well by now :) One of the things we really like is that they're shelves are very well organized and maintained. It's pretty easy to find stuff and if you have that "where is it?" look on your face, someone is always available to help. We've had one or two instances where something was missing or out of stock and was then ordered for us. AND AND AND they actually followed up with a call when it came in stock. My husband came in to get a key replacement for our Toyota Camry and worked with Monica. This was his third stop (his first was Toyota Antioch and they were just too inconsistent with their pricing for us to do business with them). Monica knows her stuff, straight up! She's super familiar with the store inventory and all things Ace hardware so that was great. She helped him order a new key and then suggested an affordable little crafty temporary solutions that will hold us over until our key is ready next week. Tue May 9th around11:00 a.m. I came in not knowing exactly what I was needing to repair my RV parking gate, because it wasn't going back to the original state. Or at least I didn't think so, till this little older lady Sally came along with both hands full, she stopped, asked me about what i was looking for, at this point i had to real idea what i was doing and took the time to help me find everything and explain what i needed to do to patch my gate up into a good working order! I was in the clayton rd. store this morning 12-14-21 to return some hose that I bought yesterday that was the wrong size. The casher didn't know how to ring it up so she called the ass. manager who came wright up and told me that this was not 5" of hose because she was 5-4" and it was not close to her height so I must be trying to rip them off. Then she told the casher to just give me back 4" worth of my money . I have never been treated like that in my 66 years, Thankfully the casher never minded what she said and gave me a full refund. I love this place. I purchased a Stihl chainsaw the other day and I probably flooded the engine. I brought it to the store to get it checked. The team there also tired to get it to start but we're not successful. Instead of asking me to come back he next day, they swapped out the chainsaw that I had bought and gave me a new one. Most impressive of all was how Thomas, the store manager, carries himself and manages the rest of the team there. He has a commitment to excellence and truly strives to make the customer happy. I frequent Bill's Ace Hardware in Concord for hardware, lawn & garden needs, and greeting cards and gifts! The staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful, no matter how busy they are. My most recent visit was to get a replacement key with chip for my car. Even though it was very busy, Ken wrote up the order, took it to the office, and accompanied me to the cashier to make sure the order was rung up correctly. Customer service literally is Top Notch. Monika and Tim deserve a 100 score on a scale of 0 to 10. Did you know that Ace Hardware can program chipped keys? YES, they do!!! I recently bought a used truck and the dealer only handed me one key, has that happened to you? Or maybe lost a key yourself? Dealerships that I went to wanted to charge about $200 for a key and another$200 to program them. Monika and Tim took care of me with my dilemma and I paid half of what the dealership wanted. Wow. Had to buy a washing machine pan and also needed to have a hole drilled in. Katie in plumbing totally helped in drilling the hole even though her shift ended and she was late. I had an awesome experience at this location! My car key broke and Toyota quoted me a few hundred bucks for a replacement. I called Ace & Monica was able to walk me through the problem, explain the details and helped me get a replacement. Not only was it extremely cheaper than the dealership but the customer service was phenomenal. This Ace is a little lacking compared to the Walnut Creek location. Their garden area leaves a lot of desire. Honestly I didn't even know they had a garden area! Just a little fenced off area to the left of the entrance. They do get a larger area that pops up in the parking lot in the spring but I'm a crazy plant lady and want them all year. On the bright side though this ACE is now the closest hardware store to us. We can pop down for a quick run when we are missing a part, I buy my canning supplies from here and you also can fill up your propane tanks here. They also have great customer service. I do not think there has been 1 visit where I haven't been asked if there is anything I need help with. read more

Bill's is a great store and I've been able to find pretty much everything that I need. Katie has been especially helpful and seems to know where every thing in the store is located and how it is used. I had a particularly tricky project that I really had no idea how I was going to do what needed to be done, but working with Katie she was able to help me develop a great solution, assemble all the parts and make sure nothing was missing. "yelped" propane delivery after calling a few closer distributors. Bill's popped up. Sent a yelp request for service info. Bill called back said he'd send his son over today to exchange my two used tanks for two new tanks. He asked what time worked for me. I said anytime today except between 2:30 and 4. Tanks delivered, one set up, two taken all by 1:30. Bill's son was a very professional and polite deliverer. read more
