Mothers Day on service is stressful - I get that and grateful they take the time work for the public but rudeness upon our arrival and NOT utilizing the Toast app correctly wasn't helpful either. We joined the waiting list using the Toast app like I've done for many other Bills Cafe locations and let them know I was on the list and instead of "any" seating, we needed indoors because my 75 year old mom was cold on this overcast day. The hostess and two waitresses looked at me like I was bothering them and just said OK just be seated and we'll get to you. I said OK and I sat down. We waited for an hour and a half and I noticed that people were leaving and being seated, and the number of people on my app had not changed. Finally, when I let them know, she says oh you should've told us you were here and that's why you did not get seated. I tried to when I arrived but ... 15 minutes after we were finally seated, then the app texted me and told me that my seat was ready. Which also means that after finding out, I had use the app and they finally seated me, they did not remove me for the list. This location was not using the toast app correctly and costed us an hour and a half wait unnecessarily. The food was good, but the Service could use some work. read more

Worst first impression ever. I walked in and got seated, but right away I noticed a small bug crawling on the table. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and told a nearby waiter, who removed it. I went ahead and ordered the chicken and waffles, but I was already feeling a bit uneasy. When my food arrived, I started putting butter on my waffle, and then I saw a bigger bug fly off of it. At that point, my appetite was completely ruined. I asked the waiter to take the food back, and while the manager did come out and offer to replace the meal, I wasn't interested anymore. This location fills up quick on the weekends so there's a bit of a wait usually. With busy places comes spotty service. The family next to us was rowdy and took up much of the servers attention the whole time we were there. We had to ask several times for utensils and for water. They also sat us at a uncleaned table and they were cleaning it as we sat down. I would've waited an extra couple minutes to arrive at an already cleaned table but to each their own. My party and I are pretty basics and ordered all the same thing with differently cooked eggs. We love a chicken fried steak. The food tasted great though. It was just the service and environment that made the experience pretty bad. I think it's criminal to serve biscuits without any water and to have asked 3 times is quite sad. Super solid breakfast place with lots of offerings and great portions! In a weekday around brunch, we waited 5-10 min for a seat - the place was bustling! Food: - Hash brown skillet (5/5) - so good with two sunny side eggs. The skillets don't done on a skillet, but it was a hearty portion of hash brown, potato, sour cream, and cheese. The tomatoes gave it a nice freshness. - Bill's original skillet (5/5) - Pancake (5/5) - this is where bill's shines, I love the fluffy pancakes that are HUGE! They also have a "mini breakfast specials" option where you can choose half a Benedict, scramble, or a partial order of pancakes which is super neat. What happened to this place? Bill's used to be my go to spot for brunch and it was amazing. I went this past weekend and it's like a mad house in there, to its credit the food was still good but that was literally the only good thing. Upon entering they have a QR code to scan to add your name to the waiting list, we did that and then waited to be seated, the hostess came around asking people how many were in their party which I felt was a bit weird since if it's all on their online que why would she need to go around asking that? Not a huge deal though (especially compared to the rest of our experience). We got seated in the corner table next to the bar, we sat and sat and sat... nobody to greet us, the coffee and water guy was the only good service we got. My wife had to literally stand up to get someone to come take our order, after our orders were put in my wife's food came out after a reasonable amount of time and I told her to get started since I figured my food would shortly follow.. boy was I wrong, she was almost done with her meal and I still hadn't received my food. I had to flag someone down again to ask what was going on with my food, finally the food came, no apology just some excuse about how the particular dish I ordered takes longer.. (I had the crab cake benedict, were they out in the ocean hunting for the crabs?) give me a break. After we finished our food nobody came to give us a check, not a single person came to check up on us during our entire meal, after waiting for an extremely long time for our check I decided to just walk up to pay at the host stand and leave, right when I get to the host stand one of the staff members runs up to me with the tablet to pay, I pay and am about to walk out when I am stopped by another lady who clearly thinks I was trying to leave without paying despite me showing her that on the tablet it says "PAID", she makes me wait while she verifies that I paid, I don't mind that so much but where was all this attention when we were patrons? Like I said, food was good but service was absolute trash, servers just chatting with each other and laughing at the bar while we were left unattended. read more

I came here with my family for brunch. This is my 3rd time coming and the portions are big! There was a lot of people eating indoors and there is outdoor seating as well. The service was very welcoming and attentive. He made sure we had a great experience. There was a 20 min wait for us. We went around 12:30pm. I ordered the custom omelette meal. I added sausage, avocado, mushrooms, bell pepper and jack cheese. It was delicious! I split it with my boyfriend and I'm glad I did. I definitely couldn't finish it all on my own. It came with hashbrowns and toast. We upgraded to a Hawaiian pancake for $2.75. The pancake was super fluffy with a lot of bananas and macadamia nuts. Both were incredible! The Skillet was savory and cheesy with tons of hash brown, i would ask to get the hash brown crispy if you enjoy more of a crunch! We've always loved the Bills Café in Pleasanton. Excellent food and exceptional service. While visiting family, we decided to try the Fremont location, and unfortunately, it was the complete opposite. The food was bland: the country potatoes tasted like they'd been fried in old oil, the biscuits were stale, and my wife's burrito was packed with veggies but short on meat and eggs. The service was even worse. Our server took our order, brought our food, and then disappeared. I had to flag him down just to get the check and to-go boxes. For a coffee refill, I had to ask a runner who was standing right next to our table. My wife wanted another mimosa, but since our server never came back, that never happened. I've been to Bill's Cafe in Fremont many times. I have never walked away disappointed. This is definitely one of the best brunch spots in Fremont if not THE best. Their menu gives plenty of options for all palates and dietary needs. I often get the veggie scramble or skillet (they are very similar). I love how much vegetables they put in it. That's why I keep going back for this one. Some days I'll forgo the toast and get a pancake instead but I always end up with leftovers. Yay for leftovers! I've never been disappointed by the food. It comes out pretty fast and is always tasty! They keep my coffee hot. Sometimes I actually have to say no because I end up over-caffeinated. LOL! I also like that when they aren't too busy, they won't force the "every must be present to get seated". Sometimes we just have one person running late but everyone else is there so that's nice. And I've had a waiter tell me he won't rush us, that we are welcome to stay as long as we want. Even if we don't, it's nice to know we can enjoy our meal at our pace. This really ads to building good relationships with the people we are dining with. And the patio space is also a lovely place to dine. I came here on a Thursday morning, around 9 AM, and it was pretty busy! Considering it's a holiday break, there was no wait and we were seated immediately. They still had their holiday decor up, and it's a very large space so there's no overcrowding at all. I ordered the Fitness Group Omelette (for the protein goals of course) and it came with a side of fresh fruit and (optional buttered) toast. It took around 10 minutes to come out, with the toast following soon after the main dish. I'd give the taste a 6/10- the omelette itself was very bland and the ingredients inside of it were sparse. It was probably like 80% egg white, 10% meat, 5%, mushroom, and 5% tomato, so I had to use a lot of hot sauce to give the dish more flavor and life. If it had some sort of salsa or pesto in the omelette, it would have boosted the flavor profile. For the side, the fruit was fresh and had a lot of variety, so I enjoyed it as a side. Overall, I would love to try more from here. There are a lot of options for breakfast/brunch lovers, so I think I'll stay away from the health side of the menu for now. read more

When you don't feel like making breakfast, Bills is a great choice. We got here early enough on a Saturday morning that there wasn't a wait. A great option for this location is the ability to add yourself to the waist list through Yelp. I had tried this but it would not let me since there wasn't a wait. We ordered the : Hash brown skillet, Bread pudding French toast,Fried chicken Benedict (new item). We both couldn't decide if we wanted sweet or savory for breakfast so we chose two options that were savory and got the bread pudding French toast to share. Hash brown skillet was very good. Fried chicken Benedict was good as well. Just the chicken tasted a little under seasoned but that may be with the added sauces on top not to overload on seasoning. Both portions for skillet and Benedict were huge. The bread pudding French toast was delicious. I wasn't keen on ordering it since I wanted to omit the raisins but they said you couldn't. Honestly however I don't remember eating any raisins so it may have already been inside the bread since you cannot remove them. Dense bread with amazing flavor and the caramelized bananas were a great added touch on top. My only complaint, which isn't really a complaint just something I noticed, service lacked a little bit. Unfortunately like always, when you order Hashbrowns Crispy from Bill's - one side, the side facing up, will be crispy but the other side and the middle will be uncooked potato. This is not the first time, every time I have selected the Hashbrowns Crispy option, the top layer is crispy but the center through bottom layer is soggy and uncooked. So many choices to pick from and portions are quite large! We got the cowboy skillet and it was delicious, yum. Only improvement would be to have this dish served in a skillet instead of a bowl. The strawberry oats pancakes were cake-y and pillowy. These were some of the biggest pancakes I've ever ordered anywhere. Service was fine. Perhaps we're not used to it but in the past, when we go to cafes where someone goes around carrying coffee and asking folks if they want coffee, typically the coffee is complimentary. This is our first time to Bill's Cafe so we don't know if the coffee was always an additional charge or maybe it's a change since our younger years at other cafes. Saturdays are for finding a good breakfast to enjoy. The wait was not longwr than a few minutes which is often the case at any Bill's Cafe. The only thing we ask for is enough room for plates and drinks and a tiny two seater is not that. They were gracious to move us over to a booth instead. First up is water and a good cup of coffee. The coffee is fresh and our cups were being refilled regularly. I hadn't drank that much coffee in a while but was loving it. Bussers picked up trash from our tables regularly as well. Our servers tag teamed on covering between breaks. I was surprised to see the food coming out quickly for the tables around us. The food was all delicious. The poached eggs on top of my dish was amazingly good! Hashbrowns were slightly soggy but country potatoes were on point. Hawaiian pancakes are different. I come to Bill's for breakfast about once a month and not only is my food delicious, but the customer service is always great. The ambiance is good even when it's a little bit crazy on a Saturday.
