I really wanted to enjoy our experience at Jim's Cafe because the food itself had some positives, and I appreciated that they were even open and answering phones on Memorial Day. Unfortunately, the overall experience felt disorganized and lacking in customer service. When we called, we were encouraged to join the waitlist, which initially seemed like a great system. There were 17 people ahead of us, but the list moved extremely fast; our name came up in less than 15 minutes while we were still driving over. Since parking is very limited and we weren't close enough yet, we added our name again and waited in the car once we arrived. We then received a text saying our table was ready. THREE minutes later, we got another text saying we had been removed from the list. Considering the parking situation and the fact that there's a walk involved, that felt unreasonable. I immediately called and was told they only give people about 4-5 minutes to arrive depending on how busy they are. However, my phone clearly showed we were removed after only 3 minutes, and I had called within 4 minutes. When I politely asked about the policy at the front counter, the employee explained that management tells them to remove people after 3-5 minutes depending on how busy they are. The interaction itself also felt dismissive; there was little eye contact or customer engagement while speaking with us or seating us. As for the food, I ordered the California omelette with egg whites, hashbrowns, and sourdough toast. My date ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of hashbrowns. The biscuits were soft, and the hashbrowns were honestly the best part of the meal: fluffy, homemade, and delicious. Unfortunately, the gravy itself was not very tasty. There were also some cleanliness and service concerns. The silverware was not very clean, and we had to replace our coffee cups as well. Our server was not very attentive, and we eventually had to look for him just to get our bill. Unfortunately, this feels like a restaurant that has become so popular that it can no longer consistently provide quality customer service to match the demand. Customer service and cleanliness is as important as the food for me, so I won't return. If customer service details and attentiveness are important to you, this may not be the place for you. If you're mainly coming for the food and don't mind the service issues, you may still enjoy it. read more

Chicken and waffles- The chicken was delicious! Nicely seasoned and perfectly crispy. Smothered in syrup made me yearn for the perfect blend of savory, sweet, and crispiness even more. The chicken was juicy and not dry at all. The chicken all came with dark meat, wing, drumstick, and thigh. The waffle was soft, but could be a tiny bit crispier. Overall, I would order this a hundred times over. Hash brown skillet - This was okay. The hashbrowns were decent but they seemed a bit too soft and a tiny bit soggy. Solid brunch spot! Came here for the first time with family on Saturday. It was my first time inside a Bill's Cafe and overall had a good experience. They have the right amount of food and drink options. My family all enjoyed their dishes: chilaquiles, fried chicken benedict, California omelette and garden delight scramble, plus a pancake and waffle for the kids. Service was good, wait for food wasn't too long, and our waiter was friendly. Fun fact: The espresso martini has no espresso! One thing they could improve on: Communication on large parties of 6+. We were a group of 8 and their website asks to call the restaurant ahead of time. I did that morning and was told to call 30 minutes before I planned to arrive so I could get my name on the list. And when I did call, I was told my table would be ready in 35 minutes. (On the way to the restaurant, I got a text that my table was ready, but when I called the restaurant again, I was told they sent the message by accident.) When I arrived, I was told to wait another 30 minutes until another table was cleared up. It ended up being a 20-minute wait, which wasn't bad. But it still left me confused: I didn't expect the additional wait time after checking in at the front desk. Takeaway: Even if you do call ahead for a 6+ person party, expect to wait after you check in at the front desk because they don't have a reservation system. The website and hostesses can do a better job of communicating that. That aside, the rest of my time there was smooth. read more

Typical breakfast place serving delicious food. Huevos Rancheros was really good. Eggs Benedict is as good as it gets. We loved Hazelnut Mocha, "Adult coffee" with a generous amount of Bailey's in it. Veggie skillet was okay, there was too much potato and very few veggies. Overall experience was great! Food ordered was the medium rare steak and eggs with hash brown and California Benedict added mushrooms tomatoes and spinach with potatoes. Drinks added were orange juice and green tea. The environment is a bit noisy when it gets very busy and seating at the booth seats are very comfortable. Waiters mostly spoke Spanish so we found one who spoke some English and they were all very friendly. Total was about $65 before tip. read more

We're regulars at the Fremont location and come in every couple of months, usually with my wife, and now for some one-on-one time with my daughter. Bill's is a 30 minute drive from where I live, 45 minutes with traffic. But it is definitely worth it! The food is amazing. Everytime I come I get the Hazelnut Mocha iced coffee but today I was feeling like trying the mimosa. And I am so glad that I did. They have a mimosa flight that comes with 3 flavors that you choose from. I ended up getting a Pineapple- Peach( I think), a Paloma, and a pomegranate. The pomegranate was definitely my favorite ! Unfortunately I didn't get enough pictures but here are some of our favorites. You can NEVER go wrong with the Nutella French toast, Country Fried Steak with Country Potatoes, or the Chilaquiles. My daughters and I love how delicious the food is, how fast the service is, and how welcoming you feel here. Everything is always clean and everyone works together as a team. I'm new to Fremont and have been to Bill's cafe 3 times. Each time I've been, the restaurant has been packed with lines out the door. Despite how busy they always are the food is always consistently prepared quickly and is SO good! The service is unmatched! My coffee cup is NEVER empty and even if the staff perceive something to be not quite perfect, they'll offer to replace it. One time they served us some soft hash browns on a busy, holiday weekend. We didn't mind and were eating them without any issue, however because the staff noticed they commented on it and offered some well done, crispy hash browns and then also offered us an additional side of bacon. Despite being so busy the restaurant is clean, cozy and well maintained. I'm consistently so impressed and always have such a fantastic meal and dining experience everytime we eat here! read more

The interior looks really nice especially how angled the ceilings are. Based on a glimpse of it, it's not an old-fashioned American diner because of the colors and the materials of the furniture. Our family is a long time customer here since my son loves to eat at Bills. We come here every weekend to eat. There are are some weekends that they are quick and there are some days that they are chaotic. The services became inconsistent and ran down. The last straw for us was a visit on 05/25/26 Memorial Day. We arrived at bills and joined the waitlist for 5. We actually waited for 5 minutes which was pretty good eventhough there were lots of people waiting. There were only 3 set of utensils on the table. We were not given a water and coffee and waited 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. Undestandable since its busy so i gave them benefit of the doubt. The server took our order which we ordered Country Fried Streak, Petaluma Scramble, California Eggs Benedict without tomato, Waffles and BYO Omelette. I ask for two additional set of utensils, a water and coffee. I waited 5 mins. after 20 mins of waiting, they gave us 2 pancakes with eggs and bacon and hashbrown. I told them this was not our order and this is a mistake. The server was confused and reminded her that this was not our order and gave our orders again. She remembered it and took back the wrong item food. Then 15 minutes after the correct order food came but was so disappointed on how they prepare the food especially the California Eggs benedict. SEE PHOTO FOR REFERENCE!! They eggs should be runny with hollandaise sauce. This was dry. the eggs is actually cooked with little sauce plus the hashbrown was almost burnt. My son still ate it but when the server came back i pointed out the problem but she was not even offering the alternative solution. Our water were not refilled and same with the coffee. It was so chaotic that day. I dont think they deserve to get a tip at all for 18% since they did a bad service.. I told my kids this is the last time we are going back to BILLS or we wont be back for a while. To bills cafe staff and employees please get back to the old great service and great food. Best breakfast / brunch spot in the area. The building is unique-- it used to be a Pancake House. Servers are attentive and food comes out quickly. Their breakfast plates are huge; both the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros are enough food for two especially if you get a small side with it. And both are spicy. I drove all the way to Fremont from Sacramento area to have brunch with some lady friends. We chose Bill's Café in Fremont because usually Bill's Café in San Jose area is great. I will say this was not the same experience. We sat on the patio, which was nice, but the service was not great. Our server lacked the awareness to tell when we needed something and lacked social skills. It took us until after we got our food to get waters despite having that be the first thing that we ordered also, we had four people and two of the meals came out and then we waited another 10 minutes for the other two meals to come out so the timing of food coming out was not great either. Lastly, the server failed to check on us throughout the meal so we were constantly short on coffee and water and it was an overall unpleasant experience in terms of service. As usual though Bill's Café food is delicious, but I'm not sure I would go back to this location based on the service we had. read more
