Loved the energy of the people! They were really friendly and helpful. We ordered 3 bao buns to share and they were SO good. I immediately knew they were made by hand. A lot of the restaurant in the Central Coast just reheat store bought, manufactured baos, but I could tell the filling and the bun was made from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the mushroom and bulgogi bao, but wasn't the biggest fan of the sio pao bao(?). Definitely will be coming back with friends!
Fresh!!!! The buns were made when you ordered , I had pork and it did not disappoint, I only had one but I will be back to try more , great inside seating , I'll try this place again Super friendly folks taking your order , great inside seating, the decorations were super cool .
This is our second time here and both have been yummy. It is expensive, and anyone in the know would like a Bay Area dim sum place in SLO--keep dreaming. This place is delicious. The mushroom bao was freshly steamed. Surprisingly, they have tater tots--more surprising, we ordered it. And they were crunchy and delish!
**Visited on Sat. 8/3/2024 - but have visited multiple times :-) Bing's Bao Buns are located in SLO Public Market and it's honestly a great spot for a quick bite and some different asian snacks. Considering that it's located in SLO public market, it could get pretty busy at times and the line for this spot could get pretty long. You're able to sit anywhere here and enjoy your meal, or take your food togo! The vibes here are pretty chill and I'd say you can definitely get a quick bite from Bing's, a drink from Sequel Tea or the bar here and get some work done at the many open tables available to you. The owner and staff are pretty kind here- they're incredibly welcoming and are so consistent in their customer service. I genuinely love coming here and feeling welcomed & appreciated- call me a sucker for great customer service. OKAY THE FOOD: * Baos! I love the baos here- they tend to change up the flavors which I love, however I believe the char siu bao is one of the staple flavors. I've had their sichuan chicken, chair siu, and their thai basil beef baos. * SPICE - a good amount of their dishes have a good kick to them, so be prepared to get hit with some hot and spiciness. * Duck Fat Truffle Tots - so good. I can't express how good they are and how CRISPY they come out. 20/10 would recommend! * Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork - an absolute banger of a dish. It's super fulfilling and SO flavorful.
The food here is BOMB!!! Seriously SO good. I got a Mongolian beef bun and the ramen fried rice and they were both so yummy. Afterwards I tried some of the mochi ice cream and it was DELISH! I also stocked up on some yummy candy. They have so much to choose from! The gal working there was so sweet too! I can't wait to come back!
Bing's is located on the main level of the relatively new SLO Public Market complex on the corner of Tank Farm Road and S. Higuera Street. This eatery offers the community unique and flavorful bao buns with ingredients that vary and rotate weekly. Each fluffy steamed bao is hand-made using locally sourced ingredients. Beside their bao buns specialties, they offer sandwiches, salads, fried rice, and other Asian/Korean fusion cuisine. Bing's offers over 16 flavors of mochi ice cream for a delicious dessert or anytime treat. In addition, they sell their house-made varieties of delicious kimchi in three different sizes. It's best to check Bing's Instagram or website in advance to see what delightful carnivore and vegan bao offerings they've created for any given week. Their baos frequently sell out. Have a Bao-tiful day!
My FAVORITE place to get food for lunch. I got everyone at work hooked. They are so awesome and so nice! I've never eaten a bao bun from them that I didn't like. They're bulgogi bowls are BOMB and the tots, lord, the tots are to die for. I loved Korean chicken and waffles when they had that on the menu. Maybe one day they'll bring it back Btw, they're located inside of the SLO public market. You really can't miss them, there's a giant panda mural on the wall!
I really like this place, even though this was our first time there. I had the 3 bao assortment with two pork and one shiitake mushroom bao. My daughter had the bulgogi steak rice bowl. The food was flavoured well. I liked the pork bao a lot, the mushroom was fine but not my favorite. But the bulgogi steak rice bowl was really good. It's not the usual beef type used in bulgogi, but sliced steak. So higher quality meat, generous portion. I would have liked more like Japanese or Korean sticky type rice, but it was more non-sticky. But small quibble. A very nice energetic young lady at the register (I think perhaps the owner?). Really would love to try more menu items next time. Fun atmosphere with all the various restaurants and snack places all together. Excellent place and experience, look forward to coming back. This is within the SLO Public Market.

At Bing's Bao Bun enjoy more than fresh steamed Bao buns but a sensory experience, a flavor explosion in every bite garlic green beans, kimchi rice Korean corn and more. Located in the front inner corner of the Public Market. There is a huge variety of food to tempt you. Even if you want to grab a snack Bing's offers many different international snacks, drinks, ice cream mochi and sometimes Unimacs Macaroons. Sam is usually front and center so you can expect service to be impeccable. Even at their busiest Sam is great at shouting out your name like your Mom would when you forgot to do something.. lol and I love her for it!!! The ambiance is bright, friendly, cheerful! Bring your taste buds these ears are hitting all the senses! I never leave hungry portions are filling! To add Sequel Tea has a pop up on the weekend, check for hours. If you can't handle a lot of spice I recommend one of their sweet drinks or a milk shake from the scoop or a Thai tea from baht. Or start building a tolerance because this place is not slowing down ;)
We came here in a Friday around 1 pm. It was hard to find a parking spot so it took a bit. I ordered the fried rice with mushrooms. The bowl was big enough to feed me for more than one meal. It had spice but not enough to stop me from eating it. The egg was almost cooked completely through so I would have preferred a raw egg. I think the homemade kimchi accelerated this dish.
My husband will not stop raving about the Monday bulgogi steak Sando until I update my review to include it!
Came here on a Sunday in May. We arrived around 11am, when it opens. I suggest getting there early, the public market started getting full shortly after. We got one of the beef buns and one mushroom. They were really good! Warm and fluffy with LOTS of filling. Most bun places have too much of the dough, not here! They came with a spicy sauce which was good, but wasn't needed, the buns were already full of great flavor. Beef had a little spice but not too much. We also got the poke bowl, fish tasted fresh and good flavor. The spicy cucumbers were just ok. Staff was friendly. I recommend this place if you go to the public market. We enjoyed our food with some beer from the Bottle Craft brewery and other food from the different eatery's. Foodies dream!

Had the chance to visit Bings Bao Buns this weekend and I unfortunately left a bit disappointed but mostly because the Philly cheesesteak and bulgogi buns were sold out which is understandable. We chose a few different options instead which I believed lacked depth in flavor. Overall the food was not bad so I'm hoping to come give the sold out option a try sometime in the future. The staff was kind and informative which was nice and I love the environment in the food hall which allowed for variety in food. read more

Bing's Bao Buns are hand made and super popular for good reasons They have several interesting flavors with Cha Siu Bao (BBQ pork) as the favorite This week they also have Thai Basil Beef bow and Thai Basil Mushroom bow for Vegans and mushroom lovers. You can buy several bows to take home for easy Burger substitutes. They freeze well too. Sam gives outstanding service, which contributes to her recipe success. read more

Located on the first floor of the SLO Public Market, this fun, little bao and dumpling vendor was friendly and helpful in selecting our buns. Looking for something to tide us over until dinner, we chose the Kung Pao Chicken and Philly Cheesesteak bao buns. Prices were reasonable and the buns were very tasty. My favorite was the Philly Cheesesteak...I could eat a dozen of those! Would definitely return when in the area. read more

After hearing all the positive reviews I knew I had to check bing bao buns out! With a filling every week I was excited to try out some new flavors. Loved that a vegetarian option is always available. This week's lions mane mushrooms. YUMM, the menu also said these mushrooms are sourced locally! With all the hype surrounding bings my group wanted to order some side dishes as well. We went with the gochujang carrots and honey glazed potatoes. They used baby carrots which gave off a Korean spicy rice cake look but with carrots. We found the flavor to be underwhelming, and the carrots were still a bit crunchy which was off putting to us. The potatoes were super creamy but also a bit short on taste. The bao texture is nice and fluffy and comforting to eat. The filling to bao ratio was great, our baos came packed with mushrooms! Sadly, we found that the filling needed a bit more salt. Overall, this spot satisfies the bao craving in SLO. Excited to see what new flavor combos are next in the line up! read more
Local Take: Brillant Bao-mongers Blast-open the Buniverse! The local Buniverse will never ever be the same since the Bing's are here. This charming Mom & Pop & two little Kid-uns super-team are just what the "cultural wasteland" of the Central Coast needed. I literally have eaten Buns & all kinds of Dim Sum thousands of times, all through the USA, Europe, Asia, & Hawaii....and have yet to have anything close to Bing's Baos. I will now never look at a Dim Sum Food Cart with envy for pedestrian Buns, since the Bing Family has ruined me for life. The Mushroom Baos were Bursting with savory Chai Sui yumminess, that one cannot find on any cart that I know of. The filling to dough ratio was beyond anything I have dreamed of before, and they must have modeled them on ambrosial versions found in the heavens. Originally, I was going to go for the pork version, but apparently, it would have taken more than an hour for a new batch. The owner was wonderful & offered to give my money back or switch to the Vege Bun. Since I read every Facebook post from the Bings for the past several years, there was no way, I was walking out without trying some Buns. So while I waited to get eats from two next door vendors, namely Baht's great Curry & CCC's wonderful stinky Cheeses, I also waited for the Buns to be. Yes, one may have to deal with a wait, or even lines, or even a sold-out situation, but it is all well worth the wait. Once you sink your jaws into a succulent Bings Bun, all is OK with the darned world. This hardworking Mom & Pop, went from selling Buns from the home to running this start-up business, while raising two little Bings, & working two other jobs...so please applaud their can-do attitude, especially in these times. The mom hails from NJ, right near where I grew up in the Big Apple. Both Mom & Pop missed great Dim Sum-type eats in the Central Coast and decided a few years back to actually do something about it. Amazingly, despite being new at this Bun-fabrication, they somehow made major advances along the way. It may even make you forget we have a Pandemic or even a pending Apocalypse! Don't worry, look up...there are Bing's Bao Buns... Yes, they are that amazing. I might just get BBB tattooed on my Bun....JK :) read more

I highly recommend Bing's! We've eaten here many times before and this was just another delicious visit. This time we ordered one pork bao, two mushroom bao, and a crab salad. The salad dressing was perfect and the colorful pops of the nasturtiums and roe made it visually appealing too. Sam and Mike, the Bing's owners and creative masterminds are always kind and nice to talk to. They make sure everything that comes out of their kitchen is something they can be proud of. They are always happy to see people and are a joy to interact with. They worked specially on the API Month celebration held at the Marketplace earlier this year which was a great success. The rest of the staff is kind and knowledgeable of their inventory as well. In addition to their house-made items they offer a selection of crackers, chips, other snacks, beverages, and mochi ice creams. We got the red bean, chocolate hazelnut, and birthday cake mochis this visit and all three were yummy. Bing's is a takeaway style spot, the same as all the other places in the SLO Marketplace. It is always clean, with good signage easily describing their items and pricing. I like that you can see through to the bright and organized kitchen area. In conclusion, this is a great spot to stop by and have a delicious lunch or dinner. Their Instagram is always updated with their new offerings and bao flavors. Be sure to get there quickly if you see one you want because they do sell out. They are that good! read more

Update: tried the vegan scallops today and they were fantastic! Another gorgeous meal by Bing's. They even garnished them with little mustard flowers. I found the owner to be super friendly and she appreciated our return business--we felt so welcome and will definitely be back! read more

I ate 3 blue crab baos within 30 minutes. It was that good. Price on the board listed $19 for 3 of them. Prices online on their website were different than what it said on the board. It was probably because it depended on the ingredients. For blue crab that tasted pretty fresh, I felt that was worth it. I would come back again! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! First of all, this is the only place in SLO that I know of that has freshly made and steamed buns!! I love this place so much for their vision and taste; they even use local produce in their food options and the menu changes weekly depending on the produce/season!! My favorite by far has been their Kimchi Stuffed Pancake, Chicken Baos, and Thursday Korean Fried Chicken Bowl!! They sell Baos Fri, Sat, Sun on first come first serve! Thursdays are Korean Fried Chicken days where they have LARGE AF FRIED CHICKEN and you choose from 2 sauces which are both phenomenal!! I was really surprised by the Size of fried chicken they have!! The fried chicken bowl has salad and rice at the bottom with crunchy fried chicken on top! These are the first steam baos my boyfriend tried and he absolutely loved it!! The owners are the sweetest and I love coming back again and again to try their new flavors!! read more

Had the opportunity to recently give Bing's Bao Buns a try and was very happy for the experience. Located as a "food stall" in the SLO Public Market located at the corner of Tank Farm Road and S. Higuera St...they were fairly easy to find and the location provided for easy , no problem parking and access. Some of my fellow Yelper's have stated that the hours are limited and the Bao(s) are difficult to get due to the eatery running out of their offerings, the food was "this or that", too spicy, too sweet, the owners were short or rude to them...etc, etc. Personally, I can not substantiate any of those findings...(ergo, the Star rating). We arrived on a Sunday at 2:11PM. Yes, Sam (all smiles, Wife to the Husband of the "Owners Team"...hubby/Chef was in the kitchen cooking) confirmed that Boa (2 varieties) were still available. We ordered (to go), 3 Bao (5/5, two Thai Basil Beef and one Vegan Basil Mushroom) all of which were "just right", flavorful, utterly delicious and fabulous! As well as, an order of the Spicy Squid Snack (4/5). The Squid Snack was very flavorful and "powerful" in taste. Also very "chewy". Once home, as a meal...we warmed up the Bao and as the "side dish", used the Squid Snack as a "topping" on "cold" Red Delicious Apple slices. To be quite honest, I was astounded by the "FLAVOR SYMPHONY" I experienced on my palate! Outstanding! Our order was plenty for the two of us and the bill was very reasonable at "under $20 dollars". No disappointments here, but our visit was not done on the spur of the moment. I had visited ahead of time (a day or two earlier) to make sure things would run smoothly for our actual visit. Needless to say, we will definitely return...because on this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion...Bing's Bao Buns in SLO, came up with excellent service (by Sam), and the "quality goods", truly earning this "highly recommend" 5 Star review. read more

I had been looking forward to trying these baos. I got the kimchi carnitas. It was very flavorful. Only complaint I would have is that. It was a bit cold in the middle. Other than than it was delicious. I also got the cucumber salad and the celery salad. Both of which were delicious. I also picked up the cutest panda and pig macarons. Overall. Great place. read more

This was my first time buying and I have to say that I am happy with it! I guess they cycle through different kinds and today I had the beef bao and garlic chicken bao. I loved the beef bao but the garlic chicken was even better! Definitely recommend both if I'm being honest. Not sure what the sauce was called but went well with these baos though if you want to eat them by themselves you definitely can and it will taste good. My only complaint is that for the price, I wish I got 4 instead of 3 baos. Otherwise, it was overall great! The man taking orders and ringing me up was kind and helped explain to me what I was getting. This place is located in the SLO public market so similar to my last review in this area, the location was nice and busy but not overly crowded. I'd recommend this place! read more
If you are lucky enough to snag one of these amazing bao buns, then you are having a good day! Bing's Bao Buns is so popular, that they routinely run out within the first few hours of business! Regardless of being a brand new business in SLO, they have quite a large cult following around town. People go crazy for these baos! Everyone's obsession with Bings is completely and utterly logical. These bao buns are hands down one of the best Asian foods in SLO County. They are carefully crafted and made with such care that you can feel it! Their owners spent years perfecting and teaching themselves the best possible way to make bao and it shows. Some tips before you go: 1. The flavors of the week change regularly so make sure to check their instagram with what flavor they are offering that weekend. 2. Show up EARLY. They sell out so quickly! 3. Bring your friends! They only allow 3 baos per person right now so that they do not sell out so fast! If you want more than 3, bring a buddy so you can get their 3 as well! 4. Be open to their vegan options! They always provide a meat and vegan option for the bao flavor. I can confidently say that the vegan is just as good as the meat! I am so happy to have Bings in my town! I hope to see them grow and thrive here! read more
