Chicken Breast
Shaina F.

I was excited to try Bird Bird biscuit after hearing such great things about the place but my experience left me a little unimpressed. I ordered the Theodore with an egg added. When it arrived there was beautiful presentation. Once I bit into the sandwich came the dissatisfaction. The breading on the chicken was thicker than the actual chicken itself. The breading was not sticking to the chicken which made the sandwich slip with every bite. I eventually just tossed the chicken out. The biscuit itself was delicious nice thick and buttery homemade but the in between ingredients just ruined the experience for me. I will give another try being that my friend states it's usually not like this.

Out of everything we ate in Austin, Bird Bird Biscuit was hands down the best! Yes, even over the BBQ. This place completely blew me away! We ordered the Firebird chicken biscuit sandwich, and it was absolutely incredible. The spicy chicken breast was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the combo of fresh dill mayo, house pickles, and cilantro tied everything together so well. Every bite was bold, fresh, and seriously addictive. And the biscuits... unreal!! They were so buttery and flaky that I couldn't leave without taking some home, along with their house jam. Easily some of the best biscuits I've ever had. If you're in Austin, this is a must! No question!

Don't sleep on this place while here in Texas. We definitely did not, I saw this place on someone's food blog and it look great and it sure was. If I live next door to this place it would become a daily habit! Great job guys keep up the great work.

Excellent service. You use a machine for my order. They had a lot of good choices and you can customize your order. Then you get a text from them when it's ready. The orange juice is fresh squeezes. I got the bird bird biscuit.

Queen Beak & Firebird

I've been here twice and loved it both time. This time I got the Queen Beak & the Firebird. I loved the Queen Beak since the honey made it a little sweeter. The Firebird was really good too, it has a little kick to it and my boyfriend loved the pickles they had. The chicken on both was so tender, juicy, and so crispy. The biscuits were amazing. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, and wasn't falling apart at all. The only "cons" was that the food was so big making it hard and messy to eat. I went at around 9am so there was no one there, it was so peaceful and the food didn't take too long to come out at all. I would recommend coming here early since it gets crowded later on.

This was my favorite meal from my very short trip in Austin. Bird Bird Biscuit is serving up some serious eats! There is a small parking lot and then street parking in the nearby neighborhood. Scan the QR code to order or order at the kiosk. On a Monday morning there was no one in line. They have a few bar seats of outdoor dining. No indoor dining here. We decided to go for the most popular item which is the Queen Beak. I paired it with an unsweetened apricot tea cause when you do see apricot iced tea often? They text you when your order is ready for pick up and you go to the pick up window. Each order is made fresh. They have a few breakfast sandwich options if that's more your jam than chicken. The Queen Beak might look simple but it is a flavor punch. The biscuits are so fluffy and soft, and the chicken is so tender on the inside. The breading is crispy and the sauce gives it a sweet and savory flavor profile. Even though there isn't anything else but the sauce, chicken, and biscuit, it works so well together. Wash it down with unsweetened apricot tea to cut back some of the heaviness. The apricot is subtle but there. Such a great refreshing beverage! Would definitely return and recommend to anyone visiting Austin!

The biscuits were amazing and so were the donuts. Definitely would be back. Cute little vibe in Austin. The service was outstanding as well.

This is my second time having this and it's consistently just as good as the first time I had it. I ordered the firebird, which is a spicy breaded fried chicken on a biscuit with herb mayo/sauce and thick cut pickles. The chicken was perfectly fried and full of flavor. The best fried chicken in Austin IMO!

Lovely Day (House-Made Chicken Sausage Biscuit)

Came here during the morning of the Austin International Half Marathon during the Texas Cold front around 740 AM. A friend highly recommended this place so I had to give it a try. You order at the kiosk on the outdoor patio, and receive your order at another window. All seatings are outdoors. I placed my order, waited for approximately 15 minutes, and later found out my order did not go through due to the system being down. I suppose the 30 degree weather interfered with the network, but the friendly staff quickly addressed the issue and made my food within a few short minutes after. I ordered the "Lovely Day" (House-Made Chicken Sausage Biscuit with Cheddar Cheese) and absolutely fell in love. The chicken sausage and cheddar cheese are a match made in heaven, and the fresh biscuits wrapped it all together. Truly the best biscuit I've ever had in my life. I finished eating closer to 8 AM, and a line of customers were forming. This place is absolutely the spot and I highly recommend for all biscuit lovers!

Our family was visiting Austin during the weekend when a winter storm was approaching. A lot of places were closing early but thankfully Bird Bird Biscuit did not or at least they were still open when we stopped by around 3 pm. There is no indoor seating otherwise we would've dined in. Instead we took two Carolina Caviar sandwiches and two order of fries to go. With a lot of places closing early for the day, these were the perfect homey and comfort food to stay in and relax with, especially after a few hours of video games.

Firebird Chicken Sandwich

I've been living in Austin for almost 5 years, and I can't believe I was today years old when I finally tried my first biscuit sandwich at this iconic staple! I absolutely loved my Firebird Chicken Sandwich -- it had the perfect ratio of dill flavor (from the mayo) and spiciness. The thick-cut sweet pickles added the perfect bite of sweetness and crunch that took the sandwich to the next level in my opinion! The spicy fried chicken breast had just the right amount of crispy batter without making the chicken dry. Overall service was quick for a late Sunday lunch and I enjoyed how you order at a monitor and pick up your meal at the counter. All the seating at this location is outside and on their deck/patio, but they do have a bathroom inside in case you need it. I loved the casual ambiance while eating these delicious sandwiches -- I'll absolutely be back soon! :)

Such a great breakfast spot! This is a grab-and-go spot with limited outdoor seating, so just keep that in mind when ordering. You can order online or call in and order ahead of time or walk up to the order window. I got the lovely day and my friend got the queen beak. The lovely day was so yummy! It was my ideal breakfast sandwich. The chicken sausage patty was well seasoned and the egg was perfectly cooked. The basil pesto was also a nice touch to a traditional breakfast sandwich and was super fresh. The cherry on top was definitely the biscuits. They were so fluffy and pillowy, some of the best biscuits I've ever had. The only con is that it is quite a filling/heavy breakfast. (8.5/10) I also got to try my friend's queen beak and the fried chicken was really moist and well seasoned. The chipotle mayo was a bit more tangy than I expected, but overall a great sandwich. (7.5/10) The service was super friendly and helpful with the menu. I will definitely come back when I am in the area.

THE BESTTTTTTTT. I loved both of them. And so so worth it. It's a must if you come to Austin. I always drop by this place if I'm looking for a heavy meal for a drive back or a long day ahead of it. These two were our favorite. With firebird being #1!!!!! Service was quick and efficient, ambiance is okay. It's an outdoor seating or more like a to go thing.

Ask the Community - Bird Bird Biscuit

Are you still operating takeaway only? Thank you :)

Take out only. I drove there hungry and wanted a sit down meal. I left.

Are the gluten free versions' chicken battered in regular flour? Is just the biscuit gluten free but not the chicken?

Right, the fried chicken is not gluten free.

Are all your chicken spiced like in a hot flavor? Are there regular chicken with no hot spices?

Spice is in the sauce, not the chicken. The chicken itself is seasoned, but not spic(y).

Is there a vegan option?

No but the have plain biscuits and egg biscuits.

Any update on the gluten free biscuit?

They have a gluten free biscuit option as a substitute for any sandwich

Can I place large order for pick-up in advance (2 weeks prior)? I've called two days in a row and left a voicemail and no one has answered, and the online ordering isn't allowing orders!

I doubt it. They sell out on a daily basis, and typically volume restaurants like them don't take orders like that simply because they don't have to

Are your biscuits vegan (dairy free)? Are vegetarian biscuits allium free?

They are not vegan. They are vegetarian. We use clabber girl for our baking powder and at they announced a new formula that is allium free. As soon as it is available in bulk, we will make that switch.

Are dogs allowed in patio area?

Yes!

Are there any gluten free options?

There are GF biscuits now. :)

So you have any white meat sandwiches or all thigh meat?

Thigh!

Do y'all think y'all will sell alcoholic beverages in your future?

I'd definitely opt in for a mimosa if you offered it. I overheard a few tables discussing how it was the best place to come after a late night of partying so perhaps there are those that would go for a bloody Mary or Mimosa with their biscuits for… Read more

Got gluten free biscuits?

Yes! They are currently on the menu

Do your biscuits contain milk?

They do indeed

Are you guys ever going to bring back a vegetarian sandwich option?

We have a couple options on the menu currently :)

Will you be open on New Year's Day?

Hi Kayla! No we’ll be closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and open normally after that. Thanks for asking! :)

Will you guys be open post Thanksgiving Day?

Hi Jenny, yes indeed! We’ll be open normal hours every day this week except Thanksgiving Day, when we’ll be closed for the day. Hope to see you!

Do you take reservations?

Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

The parking is shared and gets packed in the evening or you have to pay to park if you are unable to find anything in the lot or on the street. Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.

Kitchen and smoothie room in the back. The staff running this place are quite nice. The choice of artwork adorning the walls appears to be different from other Soup Peddlers. What's good about Soup Peddler? Despite their name, I prefer their smoothies over their soups. Their soups are prepared offsite and delivered in the morning to all Soup Peddler locations. Thus, no location is aware or can predict what will be on their menu for soup specials each day through the week. However, other than their daily specials, they usually have a set soup menu. Their soups are served in a paper cup, and you can get crackers and oyster crackers with them. They also offer grilled cheese sandwiches. Those sandwiches are, well, pretty small and simple. I've had their Apple-Muenster Grilled Cheese, no complaints. Don't expect to be filled up on that though. Again, smoothies are where it's at. They offer monthly smoothie specials, discounted daily smoothie specials, and staff favorite creations. Of course, you can always create and customize your own. I tend to get their matcha, turmeric, or banana and nut based smoothies. Any sweetness is obtained from their fruits used, but sometimes date syrup is used as an ingredient.
