The bread was the ideal amount of crispy, they were generous with their avocado portion, and the overall sandwich was (relatively) large- satisfying/filling! The latte was decent, it would've been perfect if it wasn't watered down (the ice hadn't melted at all, so it wasn't due to the ice). The employee at the register was unwelcoming, appearing very bored throughout our entire interaction. She was somewhat helpful when I asked for a recommendation and what ingredients were in the sandwich, however, she seemed irritated that I even asked. The cafe was quiet, clean, and beautifully decorated showcasing local artists and events. It was chilly due to the AC, however, it was tolerable in a T-shirt; I would recommend bring a jacket inside. Checked out Yelp for a brunch resto near by my Keystone appointment and this came up ! Was packed and busy with mostly which seems like college students hang out. Ordered a breakfast croissant with salami, ham and pepper jack cheese ! Had to wait for an available table and by the time we got one and our order was about 30 minutes since order was taken! Piped in Music not so loud and conversations among the customers are pretty mellow! An Art Cart Corner provided art supplies to entertain young artists as well as those adults who are young at hearts !! Comics display everywhere the cafe to browse for in house reading as well as purchasing them !!! The croissant was deliciously toasty which never had it served that way ! Came here on a Saturday morning to get some work done. The place has a lot of decorations with a nice vibe to it. I chose a table although they also have couches to sit down at. I ordered a lemonade with lavender as an added flavor. They had many different flavors to choose from. It had a nice subtle flavor. I also ordered an Italian sandwich and it was really good! Came on a weekday for brunch and to do some studying! There was plenty of parking spots as well. All the workers were very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The air is super cold in here too! My party and I were able to walk in around 12pm so peak lunch hours and found a table being occupied by a single charging iPad. This belonged to a group of what I deem students that already occupied 2 tables (1 for them and the other for all of their items). Other than an uncontrollable factor by the establishment, we had a nice spot to study while we ordered their food and drinks. The interior is very chilled, very spacious, and the noise is reflective of the amount of customers they have. The latte matcha was good! The quality of the matcha was nice paired with the overall mix. The turkey sandwich was flavorful and a good hefty size. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and hit the spot. I also had a hazelnut latte that was hot, but the quality of the coffee was definitely better than what you get at the big name companies. I will definitely come by again when I want to study and grab a drink as it's a wonderful place to hang out and be productive. 5/5 read more

Staff was helpful in deciding drinks and giving recommendations. The place is a hidden gem. Plenty of indoor space to sit and talk or possibly study. Not easy to spot, park in the back. I loved the idea of this place, and isn't that what we look for in local coffee shops? The soul and vibe and the owner who helped take my order gave me such a welcome and connected me immediately to what inspired and keeps this place vibrant. Looking forward to attending their workshops and open mic nights. The chairs are a bit cold and loud, but that's easily remedied with a jacket. The outlets were plentiful and the guests all seemed to get their orders fairly quickly. The croissant soy chorizo was small, but delicious, and was even featured in the comic book that explained the origin story of this business. Way to go! read more

Second time coming an ambience is really great it's nice and quiet, there's plenty of chairs, it's kind of dark but it's fine. Nice AC, plenty of comics to read and buy, and there's resources as well (flyers, pamphlets, masks, covid tests). The service is great, they're nice and patient and you can tell they care about the community. They are a bit slow I waited about 15 for two coffees and I was the first in line. Not a fan of waiting when it's to go and quick. Now the food, I don't know I haven't tasted it but the drinks are so mid. They use Costco brand oat milk and almond milk. They have no house made syrups and everything is artificially flavored. It's not something you can't do at home. They use syrup brands you can find at home goods, buy the milk from Costco, and just get some mid espresso. It's not appetizing at all the way they do it. I am giving them 3 stars for their customer service and the ambience. I would give them 3.5 because they care for their community. Drinks are a no no no here though. I genuinely go out of my way to support small businesses, but I won't be returning to The BirdCage Comic Café. I ordered a breakfast sandwich *without egg* a very clear request due to an allergy and drove off to work only to discover yet again that my sandwich contained eggs. I had to turn around, be late to work, and get it replaced. This isn't the first time. It's not even the second. This is the third time this has happened. This time I did not get it replaced I asked for a refund. I've given this place more chances than I normally would because I believe in supporting local spots, but repeated mistakes like this especially when allergens are involved are not just frustrating, they're dangerous. I wish the staff and owners the best, but my experience has been consistently disappointing and frankly, a threat to my health. read more

A friend was in the area and suggested this little very unassuming and out of the way cafe to catch up at. Plenty of parking in the back area. Walked up after my friend said she was inside and it was "nice and dark and cold" those are some of my best things when it comes to the inside. We ordered our drinks. She, a blended mocha something with extra chocolate. And I got a sugar free English Toffee latte. I'm on the hunt for SF coffees and when she offered that I was sold. The coffee it self was delicious but what sets this aside is the ambiance. The music just so slightly turned up to where you can mention "oh I love this song" and continue with your banter. The comics are definitely what makes this more than a cafe. We spent about 4 hours there and I wish we would have grabbed a salad or sandwich. They looked good from the glances I stole from other people's plates. I didn't get a chance to browse the actual comics as much as I probably should have but it seems to have a great range of categories and genres. Recently I saw what I figured out today was the OWNER berating and belittling a staff member, then attempting to have the woman in line in front of me side with his disgusting behavior. (She didn't, thankfully.) This man (who I now know to be named Daniel because of two more recent experiences) disrespected his staff member's personal space and completely destroyed the energy in the room for staff and customers. Since then I have seen this behavior with two different staff members (once inside the business and another time outside) who all appear to be stressed, uncomfortable and broken down all following their interactions with him. The staff is lovely and doing their best, but Daniel's vile and unprofessional behavior often has me picking a different stop. Hope to run into some of his current staff working in a healthy environment somewhere else soon. read more
