Fries were waffle fries, but good. I thought they were sweet potato fries at first because of the color. But regular. Bun on the burger is soft- brioche like. Burger seasoned nicely- not too much. The burger is big. We are both full. Only thing I didn't care for -- the sogginess of the bottom bun because of the lettuce, tomato, and onion. I'll request that on the side next time. We stopped in last minute to Birdie's Eastside for brunch. We did not make a reservation just showed up on a Saturday and we were sat immediately. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating. We started with the deviled eggs, highly recommended they were amazing. Then we got the Southern fried Bird Sandwich and the Tikka Fried Chicken Wrap. The Tikka Fried Chicken Wrap is one of the best wraps I have ever had. I can't recommend it enough, absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich, the sandwich is huge but with pimento cheese it's so good. This place is a perfect place to come watch football. They have happy hour all week and they even do a reverse happy hour at night and the kitchen stays open late so would be the perfect place to grab a late night snack. When we are in town to visit we will be back! 10/10 recommend. read more

This is a great place for family and friends to hang out comfortably to watch a game or visit over a great meal! Love the comfortable seating outside as well as the bar area. The service was excellent, with knowledgeable servers to help decide what to eat or drink from a menu with many options that sound/look so good! We tried the wings ( buffalo and kung pao) which were very meaty and great flavors! The flatbread Brisket/jalapeno pizza was a hit, perfectly cooked crust (thin/crispy) with appropriate amount of toppings, and the flavors were perfect together! But Expresso Martini topped it all off and was excellent! Didn't expect it to be frozen but it worked! Best Expresso Martini I've ever had! We were seated in a corner of the patio on a week night and we were clearly forgotten about. When the server took our orders she asked us if we would like the appetizer first or for everything to come out all together. We got our appetizer. an hour passed and no other food had come. At that point I had to tell the server that we were ready for our other dishes. She was bouncing around the busy patio and by the time she returned and asked what she could order us, I reminded her of the food that we were waiting on. Apparently it hadn't been sent to the kitchen! By that time it was already 9:50, we were ready to go home and the restaurant was about to close. She offered no other solutions other than it being "a busy night". We canceled the order. I still tipped-- far more than our service called for--because I know that's important in this economy. I'm not really sure what the craze is about this place. I found it to be average at best (and in some cases, not great). The outdoor area and inside space are both nice and open, but beyond that, I'm not sure I'm coming here for much else. The food was subpar at best but presents as quality bar food; I didn't get that. The service was fine; our waitress was friendly but also struggled to offer thoughts on the food and menu (besides everything is great). Stay away from the queso and fries (way overrated); get the popcorn chicken. We didn't try much else after that because it wasn't all that good. read more

I am so mad at myself that it's taking me this long to try birdies but I ended up trying it finally and I was pleasantly surprised. Of course I had to stop by for their happy hour to test out the menu and see if it was worth coming back. They know how to put some liquor and drinks is what I have to say. I ordered their Sauvignon Blanc, frozen drink and had a frozen margarita. I would skip on the frozen margarita as it wasn't my favorite, possibly due to the liquor used, but the Sauvignon Blanc hits the spot. This was such a unique take on a frozen drink that I don't find at restaurants quite often or at all so it was a nice touch as it seems like a pretty exclusive menu item to try. This plus the hot Texas sun and sitting on the patio was definitely an afternoon staple. Now for the food, I simply ordered an order of the wings. I love that I was able to just order flats only and it was lemon pepper flavored the wings were actually pretty solid. I would ask for them extra crispy next time, however, still enjoyable in the perfect bar food to sit on the patio. If you're looking for a chill spot during the week, whether it's solo or with friends, I would definitely recommend I came solo and brought my Kindle to read and just people watching and had a great time. I also ended up talking with some neighbors sitting next to me and had some pleasant conversations. My only acts to the restaurant is for the servers to be more attentive to the guest because I was here for happy hour. I really wanted to order a lot from the happy hour when it came to drinks. However, my server only came to me twice during my three hour duration, and I wasn't able to take advantage of the happy hour and what I came for. Wowwee this place gets BUSY!! I'd heard about the incredibly large outdoor space at Birdie's Eastside and was happy to finally check it out. We took our little ones (2 year old and 5 month old) to meet up with a group of friends for playdates. So, showing up on a gorgeous sunny day of 70 degrees at 5pm pm a Friday in Lakewood...I should've known it would've been packed! The parking lot alone was completely full. They have a large turf lawn in their outdoor space where kiddos can run around. I felt bad for the staff member in charge of that area. It was a madhouse. Kids of all ages were smacking into each other. My husband and I were nervous to let our toddler play there. If I could offer any feedback I'd say maybe keep the age groups separated to avoid some very anxious parents from screaming at each other. The cocktails: tons and tons of beer options which were cold and crisp. I enjoyed their jalapeño margarita. It made for a refreshing drink outside. Apps: the deviled eggs were delicious! They're served on a bed of arugula and crispy bacon. Get this. We also order the pita and hummus dip and queso. I can't speak to the latter but the dip with veggies was great! Entrees: I ordered the chicken tikka wrap filled with seasoned rice and seasoning. This came out fresh and crispy with a side of Caesar salad. I'd definitely order again. Friends ordered the burger, flatbread, and steak. Pretty much everything was great. The burger was just "okay" apparently. Overall 5/5. Then, as the new owners were developing the site we were excited to see how things were taking shape. The restaurant does look great, it has a nice vibe and a great patio. However, the food was nothing special and overpriced. Nothing was worth writing home about and definitely not worth what they charge. Judging by the other reviews, it seems I am in the minority so maybe we just ordered wrong but at a better restaurant that wouldn't be possible. Super disappointing experience at Birdies. Was really looking forward to trying this place as it's new to the neighborhood, super cute, and has lots of tables and parking. I will preface by saying that we went at 5 o'clock on a Friday, and expected it to be busy. The wait was one hour to sit on the patio and we were able to get seated immediately inside. It was one of the most chaotic dinners I have been to in my life. Even though we were seated inside, we were adjacent to a patio, and there were children running, absolutely everywhere. We are not at all opposed to children, have a newborn of our own, but this was absolutely wild and so in unenjoyable. It was so loud, my husband and I could not have a single conversation. Overall, the food was pretty bland. The best thing that we had was the deviled eggs and mac & cheese. My fried chicken sandwich was nothing to write home about. Thankfully, the waiter that we had was very nice and served us quickly, so we could get in and out. Maybe we will try this again another time, not on a Friday evening, but for now I'm scarred. read more

We went to birdies and it was freezing. We chose to sit outside because the inside had too long of a wait. The waiter was very nice and moved multiple heaters closer to us but we were still very cold. Our waiter was nice and recommended food for us that turned out to be incredible! All of the entrees were very tasty and one of our friends is a vegetarian and they were able to accommodate her! I only give it four stars because it was so cold outside. Tried this place on a Monday. So, we didn't expect such a crowded patio, but given the fact that it was a holiday, Columbus Day, and the weather was perfect for outdoor seating, there wasn't a table available for us at the time we arrived. We considered dining at the outdoor bar, but opted to sit at a booth inside. Once seated, our server quickly took our drink order. I started with the blood orange margarita and my husband had a beer. We decided to try the prosciutto, fig and arugula flatbread to start. It was good, but really could have had more prosciutto. As you can see from the photo attached to my review, there were literally three small slices with an overload of figs and arugula. Moving on to our main lunch courses, I ordered the salmon and grains bowl and my husband opted for the southern fried bird sandwich. My grain bowl was exceptional. It featured a sizeable portion of perfectly cooked salmon. I loved the mix of grains and the brussel sprouts along with the portabella mushroom were tasty. Our server Lauren was FANTASTIC! She is a kind & hard worker who helped us get our table set up for our growing party. She truly was great! We were seated immediately. The hostess started to seat us in a sunnier location but asked to be seated in the shade. No problem we were moved. Once our party arrived we ordered food: wings, birriria sliders, Asian chicken salad, queso & chips, kid's pizza, steak & eggs, and loaded fries. It all looked good. I personally ate the loaded fries (YUM) and the Asian chicken salad. The salad was small for the serving. It was just ok. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. The steak and eggs looked particularly delicious. The environment here is great. We says outside in the shade. There are multiple umbrellas everywhere as well as a patio cover. TV's are viewable from about any direction. It's great to watch a game. Outside is dog & kid friendly. There's plenty of space for the kiddos to stretch their legs. Inside is probably a more adult vibe. I'd return for the vibe and definitely order something different. It's a fun place for a large group. read more
