If you want to find a great local spot for the whole family, then go to Birdie's Eastside! It features a huge dining space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, covered patio, full service bar, and several TVs. Admittedly, when my family originally went after it first opened, we felt disappointed with the atmosphere and service. More specifically, other patrons and their inability to watch their own children ruined our first experience. A preteen age child running around the restaurant knocked into our table. We heard lots of screaming, etc. It felt like eating at a playground and not a nice new restaurant. One parent even brought a football to throw around on the patio. We felt bad for the staff because they needed to act like babysitters rather than servers. After a few months, we gave Birdie's Eastside a second chance and we feel glad that we did! It appears they mostly got the unsupervised children situation under control. Plus, they created an adults only area. Overall, we enjoyed good food as well as attentive and friendly service the second time we went. I feel that Birdie's Eastside can be an excellent choice for brunch, dinner, happy hour, etc. with family and friends. Note: It gets popular on week nights and weekends. Birdies has become a staple for me and my boyfriend over the last year. Always has amazingly quick and friendly service, great ambiance with lots of seating options (indoor tables/booths/ bar seats, and outdoor bar, tables, casual heated seating), and yummy food! Their menu is not enormous which has its pros and cons but I will say that we have not been disappointed with anything we've ordered. Our favorites are the brisket tacos, shrimp and grits, spinach and artichoke dip, and the birria sliders. Their drink selection is great as well and we love their margaritas! We have unfortunately moved out of the Dallas area but Birdies Eastside is our first spot back for an easy brunch/ lunch when we are in town again. read more

First time visiting this casual, unique restaurant. Daughter & boyfriend moved to new area of Dallas so we met up for dinner. Genon was so upbeat, funny & told us all about the menu. His food favs & drink recommendations were spot on! The menu is set for any tastebuds. We tried the yelp recommended deviled eggs & artichoke dip to start off. Deviled eggs had unique flavor & dip/chips were quickly devoured. The fig & prosciutto flatbread a winner along with brisket tacos & burger. Daughter's side of mac & cheese tasted like Grandma would make. Genon told us the building once held a Luby's cafeteria. Interesting! The 4 of us were seated in a comfy booth inside. I love this place usually but do not suggest ordering it for to go. We ordered to go because we have a newborn and didn't want to cook. My meal was half the size it usually is, the salad dressing was 1/3rd full and was not enough and the fries were tough and stale. $17 for a salad that doesn't even have protein I'd expect it to be decently sized at least. read more

Such a good edition to the neighborhood!! Great after church spot! Everything on the menu was so good! I HIGHLY recommend the artichoke spinach dip it was the best I've ever had. The loaded fries were also amazing, I loved that they put queso at the bottom & on top, but not too much to make them soggy. My friend had the burrito bowl and she loved it, especially the egg. Salmon in the grain bowl was really soft, buttery, & flavorful. The only thing I didn't like was how little grains came in the salmon bowl. The service was great, and the atmosphere is good. There were a gang of little kids on the patio. However, the food isn't good. I had the deviled eggs which were bland, tasteless. We also had the spinach artichoke dip that had a slight sweetness to it which was weird. The chips were also stale. I had the bbq chicken flatbread that was ok, but barely warm when it got to the table. They wouldn't have been good even if they weren't stale. My daughter had the fried chicken sandwich. She took 1 bite and said it was nasty, but the fries were good. I also ordered a drink when I sat down that didn't come until I was about to go. Our server was great though. I admit that I never went to the Luby's on Mockingbird, I was intrigued about the redo and new spot Birdie's that took its place. I drive into the huge parking lot and was shocked how full it was. I did snag a space in the back. I thought the restaurant was going to be packed. Outside, it was, 45 minute wait and lots of kids, Inside was immediate seating and not busy at all. Perfect!! We were celebrating a birthday, great environment for family gatherings. We had a table outside and the weather was great. We had the best waitress she fall in love with the birthday boys niece. First of all, I will begin with the fact that I am an empty nester. To anyone wanting to eat out with kids aged tween and younger, including the stroller army, this restaurant is your wet dream. It's loud, and tons of patio seating that features tower heaters sprinkled around "the lawn." You can see by the double-sided menu that Birdie's has high regard for their offerings and are more than happy to accommodate any request to a food item (e.g., Brussels sprouts in lieu of fries) , for an up charge. Mixed drinks are hit or miss - lots of mixer but less than the price warrants. There's a great sign at the entrance reading the riot act towards parents to keep their kids under control. Nice reach but not enforced because they're making too much money off their clientele. May be a different story after 10pm, but we won't be back to confirm. PS - Neighbors have to be pissed about evening traffic just to get to their homes! TIP: Get there for dinner before 4:30 or just step into the bar to the left'cause you ain't gettin' in for at least an hour! read more

We tried this place recently for dinner. We went around 5 and the place was pretty busy, but we were seated without a wait. They have a large patio, which would be a cool hang in the summer or to watch a game. The queso appetizer was a great starter. We added brisket to it and it had really good flavor. The smash burger was tasty and the waffle fries were hot and well-seasoned. The chicken salad sandwich was just ok. The croissant was hard and crispy, so it wasn't my wife's favorite. We have come to this restaurant three times hoping each time that it will get better because we love the other restaurants that the owner owns. Today we went in, and the waiter told us that it was happy hour, and that these were the specific items on the happy hour menu yet when the bill came, it was not given the discount. He gave us ample time to decide and the drinks came back almost immediately! Almost too fast. The food was good and I'd rate it a solid 8.5/10. Try only suggestion for the chef and other patrons is to try the Caesar deviled eggs with a small side of Caesar dressing. Just beware, they can be totally unfriendly if you're handicapped. There is basically one section that has low tables that can accommodate those in wheelchairs or those who can't sit at a tall table. At times the whole section is reserved so you are out of luck. We've had it happen twice. We'll chalk the wasted time up to lessons learned. read more

This place has great food,a great bar, and outdoor seating. What they lack are many indoor tables that are not booths and are not higher than average. My disability makes my options here few and far between. My main complaint is the flies. The inside seating area has tons of flies who certainly enter when the door from the outside is opened or they come in through the open window at the bar. I am tempted to bring my own fly paper or Zevo device... that's how bad it is. read more

Very nice young lady met us and I inquired about the sign at the other door and she said she had been talking to Mgment about the sign but not got a response. The wait staff was everywhere many of them all dressed like they were homeless serving tables!! Again not great in my book. We have been fans of this local restaurant since the first week it was open, but haven't reviewed until now. Since then we've come back at least a dozen or more times, with various groups of family and friends. Well folks, management must have been reading those because today we had the BEST chicken sandwich we've ever had there! It was perfectly fried, and a little spicy as well. The pimento cheese spread is a great, moisturizing upgrade from the slaw (which I always liked for crunch) and the fries were perfectly chewy/crunchy. We knew the dip duo had a bunch of fresh veg sticks which we were craving, so my husband and I chose to share the sandwich and the dip duo as a meal. The server asked if we'd like to have it presented already cut and portioned with our own sides of fries. What a nice gesture! Made us feel very much at home with our decision (not cheap, just calorie-wise). She even told us she was new there! Excellent service for sure. Location is off a main road with plenty of parking available. The restaurant has a very large patio with a major family vibe that tends to stick to outside seating. The bar is located in a way that it services the patio and the inside of the restaurant. Very spacious seating there too. The drinks are varied and quite refreshing. Service is top notch and they definitely do a good job of staying on top of customer service. The menu is quite extensive with plenty of variety.
