Came in for a wing clip for my parakeet. Put the backpack carrier on the counter while waiting for help. No customers there, just me and two employees. She told me to put the carrier on the ground in front ot the fridge. I complied...she then went on to agresively lecture me about all the signs saying dont put them on the counter but there's so much crap there you wouldn't see it unless you were looking for it. She continued to lecture that if someone brought a bird in with bird flu I wouldn't want my bird to get it....( so they can get it from the counter but not the floor?) I quietly picked up my bird to leave and she said "where are you going? I wasn't being rude" I said your being aggressive and left.... I complied with her wishes even though everything she said was complete BS. And she still couldn't stop lecturing me angrily. I have gone here for over 6 years....I will buy my bird seed elsewhere. Owner was completely rude yelled at me .. crazy lady stating shes autistic .. worse experience I've had in my life ..: called me a bitch in front of my 3 kids .. completely unprofessional and she's the owner I will never give this place business nor recommend it to anyone and I'll be reporting this to the BBB. I came in as a paying customer with my 3 children, and instead of being treated with basic respect, the owner screamed at me because I couldn't hear or understand what she was saying. Went there for two love birds one dye 3 day later. I called her that day to see what her policy she thought I was talking about a 1k bird and then started to yell at me like I didn't take care of my bird right when I first got it I never got any paperwork or received.she thought I was yelling when I wasn't I have everything recorded how she was acting then she told me send her pictures then she will get back to me then she did the right thing and I'm thankful for that she replied the bird when I went in she was a totally different person like not yelling or anything. My family heard her on the phone and didn't know we got a new bird so they called and told her how unprofessional she was she went off and then text me threatening me with the cops and saying they have 10 minutes to call back to apologize when she should apologize to me for yelling at me on the phone. After all that text messages she was sending me I won't never seat foot in there again and take my business somewhere. The guy that works there needs a raise he help me out both time and his customer service was 10/10. When I got the second bird she gave me the paperwork. If I could rate zero stars, i would. I purchased a cockatiel from here not knowing the poor baby was sick. She had a respiratory infection, (WHICH IS CONTAGIOUS TO OTHER BIRDS), and unfortunately passed away 2 weeks after taking her home. Lori, the store owner had made it clear to come to Birds N Paradise if there were ever to be an emergency. In the first picture, this is how my baby looked while rushing her to the store. In the second picture, this is how she looked after Lori fed her "medicated formula". Lori came across very disrespectful throughout the entire interaction while helping me. She didn't say hi, she didn't say "sorry this is happening", she didn't even say bye to me. She made me feel like I was an inconvenience. I was told to wait in my car with my bird, because the illness was presumed to be contagious. When Lori got to me, i handed her the carry cage that held my bird inside. She yoinked it from my hands and stuck her hand inside to feel my birds neck. She then stated that she would be back with "medicated formula" and "medicine" for me. When she came back, she did the same thing. Yoinked the cage from me, and grabbed my bird from inside with NO sense of calmness. It was aggressive! She proceeded to force, what seemed to be too much formula at a time down my birds throat. I could see and hear her spitting the food up. I recorded her feeding my bird FYI. Before she fed my bird, she was capable of moving her head slightly, along with moving in general. Afterwards, it was like she was completely paralyzed and she was so bloated looking, she couldn't move at all and was breathing extremely hard. Within the next 20 minutes, she passed away. Lori told me the formula would perk her up within 20 minutes. But nope, She died! I was so devastated. And what makes this whole situation even more disappointing is that all of the other birds that were within the same tub as mine in the store before i took her home, are definitely sick too. Birds don't show any signs of sickness like this until it's too late. They're very good at hiding it. In the end, I was offered only 50% off of another cockatiel as compensation. Just wow. With all of this being said, I would not recommend this store to ANYONE. Everything is dirty within the building. There is dust caked up on pretty much everything that you can purchase. The store is in a terrible area, lots of people steal from there. Not welcoming, friendly or safe feeling. Stay away. and if you do plan on purchasing a bird from here, take it to the vet as soon as you have a chance. Rest in peace to my poor girl. Also, this store keeps pretty much all of the birds in dirty fish tanks. Dirty water, barely any food. Its terrible! read more

I finally got a correct date to bring our cockatoo in to get clipped. They are rather disoganized about their poatings for groimg. My family waited over 15 minutes for someone to come to the front. I noticed a room with new baby birds. I peaked in stepped half way into the room. Finally an employee come out but not to help but to express her deep hatred toward me for not paying attention to the employee only sign. Lori is her name she is the owner and she accused me of being on drugs asked if I was crazy and said I must leave now and never come back. Lori did all this in front of my family, other customers and employees. I returned home and called the shop to speak to Lori again about what happened. Lori doubled down on her threatsans lies against me. I really like the shop have been going since I got my bird I am so disappointed in the staff and owners reaction. My special needs daughter was devastated about not being able to return. I am disappointed because we are new bird owners and would have loved havimg some help from a reputable shop. read more

Horrible experience, Lori is tremendously aggressive, she was making rude comments towards my bird being illegally bread, can't make false statement's unless you can prove that, but that's besides the point, I did not purchase any of her birds, because I've noticed sick birds in her store, which i brought to her attention and she then proceeded to take it out on my bird and squeezed my bird, she had this look on her face like she wanted to kill my bird, I took her hand off my bird, and she called the cops, and i waited, cops reviewed to footage and said I was in the right and I did nothing wrong, but unfortunately a bird is considered an item not treated as a living being, I don't recommend this place, I pray that whatever she has going on gets bette, but I will never subject myself to that treatment. read more

Hello, I have already written one review and I'm here for another! My blue English budgie got very ill due to severe dehydration and starvation. All the other vets near my home were closed, so we made a great decision to drive to Menifee and go to the bird shop! We told them that it looked like my bird was dying. Thankfully the owner (Lori) and the employee (Cathey) were both there! Lori automatically took him to the back and gave him food and antibiotics. Lori said we could pick him up in couple days if he makes it. Four days later, we can come pick up my healthy baby budgie! She saved my baby bird!! I can not thank you enough Lori! read more

This place is a absolute joke. Upon walking in there was music blasting and the place was a reck. Was not clean at all and ALL of the poor birds were in distress and it was very clear.There where birds that where fighting and All of the birds where clearly plucking ( which is a sign of distress if your not aware). Many sick birds. Workers where not attentive and did not pay any attention to the birds while there where people and young kids trying to touch the birds. The bird food was not properly stored. The staff was not properly trained and had no clue how to answer any of my questions. Went to Lisa for grooming. $15.00 per bird for wings, beak and nails!! She did amazing and my birds were done so quickly they didn't have time to stress. Shop is full of birds out on perches! It's organized chaos of feathered friends! Absolutely loved our visit and very impressed with her knowledge. She cares about these birds and offers grooming at this price because she knows not everyone can afford yearly vet visits and $50.00 per bird grooming charges of vets. :) read more

I took my bird here for boarding 3/26 to 3/31. When dropping off, I realized 3/31 would be Easter and asked the employee if they would be open. I was told, "I am always here, I live on premise." I was reassured by her that I could come and pick up on Easter. This employee is visibly invested in the well-being of the birds. I felt really good about finding this place! When I came Sunday, they were closed. I called the store, and no one answered. So I called the cell phone number on the card I was given. Lori, the owner, answered. I explained the situation with hope that she would be able to get in contact with the employee who told me that she would be there. Instead, she berated me for calling on Easter. She told me that I should KNOW they would be closed because they are always closed on holidays. I replied with, "How would I know when your own employee did not?" Lori started SCREAMING at me that I was incredibly rude and should be at home celebrating the resurrection with my family. She told me she would see me on Monday and then hung up on me. Well, Lori, I do not have any family left to celebrate with. So, thanks for that. My bird is my family. Also, my bird is an atheist. I'm not sure what resurrection you want us to celebrate? Lori's yelling crossed a line... it was psychotic-like. I worried about my bird all day Sunday. On Monday, I had someone else pick her up so I could avoid being yelled at more. I was not going to post any reviews, but then I saw a facebook posting by the owner. I personally believe it's too much of a coincidence to not think it's related to what happened. It's just a bit much and again demonstrates questionable behavior. The person who picked up the bird told me that they saw on my contract 3/31 was crossed out, and next to it, someone wrote in 4/1. That's not the contract I signed. It's very dishonest. Plus, if they caught this error ahead of time, why did they not call me? When I called them on Sunday, why didn't Lori just explain mixup and apologize? I may have caught the owner at the wrong time and suffered the consequences of her holiday stress. I really wanted to like this store. If I was guaranteed my interactions would be limited to the caring employee, I would reconsider trying again. read more

I want to recognize one of the employees ( Cathy ) here because she truly went above and beyond. She was so kind and helpful, taking the time to explain everything I needed for my first bird and making sure I left with the right supplies. Unfortunately, the positive experience she created was overshadowed by the owner. The owner was extremely rude, not only to me but also to her own staff. It was uncomfortable to see how disrespectfully she treated such a hardworking and helpful employee. It's a shame, because the staff deserve better leadership. read more

I would come here to purchase my macaw some supplies whenever needed. The owner speaks to her employee as if they aren't human, literally as if they were trash. She's horrible to them! I even spoke to the poor lady and told her to NEVER allow her employer to speak to her that way no matter the situation. However, for the SECOND time right in front of me, the owner verbally abused and humiliated her long time employee. This employee has always been friendly and helpful, she did not deserve them venom coming out of the owners mouth. She was trying soo hard to help everyone. I have purchased two green cheeks from this store both have passed away in a short period of time. First bird I purchased I was a new bird owner and the bird was for my daughter. We took great care of the bird, followed all directions and did tons of research. I got rid of any smelly stuff and used only natural products after research to make sure it was ok for our baby. Completely changed everything to care for our bird, and was happy to. First bird passed away after 2 1/2 years. Couldn't figure out what happened. After he passed away, a month later, I decided to get another bird from the same place. We purchased her August 2024. Today is 5 months later and she passed away too. The diagnosis from the vet was a disease she likely has had for a while, likely since we purchased her. I purchased a new cage and all new supplies for our new bird so it wasn't that she caught anything from our first. I can't prove it but I'm sure due to the way the store is kept I purchased two sick birds. There were other issues with the owner but if I felt if that's how she wants to run her store so be it. But I'm not ok with purchasing two sick birds. I get way too attached and this part is wrong. read more

Please do not shop here! I was looking for a single, hand feed love bird for a pet. I've had birds my whole life and at one point was breeding assorted waxbill finch, parakeets and love birds. In addition I've had large parrots and an umbrella cockatoo. My knowledge of birds is vast. After calling around to find hand feed love birds, I found Bird's N Paradise on Facebook. I contacted the store and was put on a waiting list to be notified when the babies were ready to go. When I got the call I drove down next day, I'm in San Bernardino, they are in Menifee. The way the birds are kept is far from ideal. The baby birds are kept in shavings, this is not good! The term "handfed" means something different to these people. One syringe feeds multiple babies of many varieties, not the best idea. There is no interaction with the babies other than a rushed feeding. The babies were not used to handling which is the point of hand feeding. When I saw the love bird babies I would have normally not purchased one that was kept like this. But I immediately felt I had to save one of them. I chose a smaller one that had some feather loss and looked like he wasn't getting enough nutrition. I also paid too much for him but at that point, I didn't care. I left with him and a bag of their own small hook bill seed. After seeing where I live, the employee said they ship seed. The first time I needed more seed, I called and it was shipped promptly. The 2nd time did not go well! I called on Sept 27. The seed was to ship the next day. A week went by, no food. I called 4 more times over a 3 week period. Every time I was told it would ship the next day. Finally on October 17th, I called and was directed to Lori. She immediately snapped at me that they don't ship until the order is paid for. I pointed out they have had my debit card info for 3 weeks. She then told me not to yell at her. I told her I wasn't yelling but now I see where all the negative reviews about her came from. She yelled back at me and hung up. I've rationed my bird's food for 3 weeks, thinking more was on the way. It was wasted time! There was one employee trying to care for all the birds and wait on customers. She was very nice but totally overwhelmed. The owner is terrible, I didn't believe the reviews, now I do. I don't think they care about their birds at all. Don't shop here! My love bird is thriving now! I'll be switching my birds food to Magnolia Bird Farm seed. They have a great reputation and much more real experience than Bird's N Paradise. read more

Nice birds in the store... All for sale... A sign on a door said 'more birds outside '... We went outside--(it was 100°)...there were several birds in outdoor cages (cages are protected from the sun and probably high winds)...the cages contained mostly finches, canaries, quail...the water containers were filthy...they were on the ground ( I believe they were chicken water buckets)... The trough portion was filled with seeds apparently dropped from above so many seeds that it's soaked up any water in the trough... so basically they were dry... There's was only one lady working in the store so we offered to help by changing and cleaning up the water buckets ... there was a man working in the back office he came out and he said no that he changes those buckets every other day or so...and that they immediately get that dirty again so I said 'okay well looks like they're due for a change today'... and he said 'well no actually I'll just change them tomorrow or the next day... ' I thought that was unacceptable, but not my birds or store... read more

Despite the inevitable asinine reviews from this cesspit of a platform, I can personally assure you all that this establishment is of the highest quality. The owner Lori, is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and well organized. That alone was evident from the first visit, which like most bird owners, is a deal sealer if you need grooming services performed. Every bird in the establishment, is well taken care of, with lustrous feathers, and are incredibly personable. A true testament to the owner! She could've ignored me she cares about her birds. Diseased birds didn't come from this place. Disinfection of hands was a thing here even before covid. Owners of pet birds who exposed them to wild disease carrying birds or areas where they congregate or perched on the bottom of a sandal have themselves to blame for their loss. The birds inside are all healthy and well taken care of despite the negative comments from past KARENS. almost all the birds are kept in Open perches, not cages and are free to move about. the store has a wide assortment of many exotic birds and almost all have been hand-fed which makes them tame once they reach adulthood, that is why they are so much more expensive than the average bird at other pet shops, which makes a world of difference when owning a pet bird! i've had my Pet parrot "Yum Yum 2.0 " which cost $1450 for two years now and she's as healthy and happy as the day I got her from this shop! I previously had "yum yum 1.0" (same type of bird) for $400 from the swap meet (not tame, very aggressive!) and I could not do anything with her because she was so evil! Horrible customer service. As soon as I stepped foot in there the owner called it cruel that I brought my bird in a breathable (had several opening) cardboard box only for transportation purposes. I put the box down on the counter to get the bird out and she said "take that box off my counter!" I just turned around and took my bird out of hells dungeon. I've raised birds since I was a kid and I'm fully aware of making a cardboard box acceptable for transporting a bird.
