Loved this place! I was a little anxious when my husband asked me to look into the place as I have a gluten allergy. The food was amazing! Just like all the other reviews said - there was a wait but it wasn't terrible, they turn around the tables pretty quickly. The set up was an order at register and then served at table which is why I think it goes by quickly. Food - went with three others. Breakfast sammie was delish, the person in the group mentioned that added sausage was the cherry on top. Grits with pimento cheese was a fan favorite, loved the flavor bomb. The Pork Sausage Gravy over a regular biscuit with addition of over easy eggs felt like I was at a grandmother's house. Portion size was also great. This place was amazing! The biscuit is so soft and delicious. They have a ton of different jams, and the strawberry was my favorite. There was a garlic and herb butter that was also very tasty. So fun and so delish! I took my mom her that was visiting from out of town. I was a little worried because she is Gluten free, but they have an awesome Gluten-free biscuit. Their food delivers and I was totally into the condiment bar. Al sorts of jams and Jelly's and sauces that you can put on your order However the biscuits come pretty done up so I ended up not using it. HUGE biscuits, which makes sense. Cathead biscuits are so named for being the size of a cat's head. The biscuits were very good and excellent with butter. Fast service, delicious biscuity goodness. Grabbed breakfast here on a Sunday morning before heading out to town. No inside service so they are doing modified to go service outside where you can order & sit down or take it to go. It was moving like a well oiled machine at 9:30am. I'm not a big breakfast eater & wasn't particularly hungry but still opted for what I thought would be a "lighter" choice with the Nutella biscuit which had amazing thick bacon strips, banana & Nutella liberally applied all over & was anything but light lol The biscuit was great by itself as it was fluffy and tasted almost like a perfect light birthday cake & the Nutella made that even better. Walked here from my AirBnB right down the street. Was busy on a Sunday morning but the staff did a great job at taking care of the line. I ordered the fried green tomato biscuit. It was not what I expected! Came out smothered in a delicious sauce and temperature was just right. They have outdoor seating which was perfect on a beautiful Sunday. The reviews for this place do not lie. Biscuit Head is worth the wait and worth the trip! I know the line is probably out of the door maybe around the block but I promise it is worth it. We waited around 25 minutes before we were able to place our order and the line started outside the door when we got there. I have no issues with our wait because the food was worth it. The Filthy Animal will always be my favorite biscuit to order but I branched out and tried the fried bologna one this last visit and it was so good. Told a friend we were in Asheville and he told us you have to go to Biscuit Head for the best breakfast ever. I asked how good is it? He a vegetarian now told me he would get the The Filthy Animal which has fried chicken, pimento cheese, bacon, scrambled eggs smothered in gravy and wouldn't look back on the decision. After hearing that we made sure to head there first thing in the morning. Once arrived we found out they were only doing outside and pick up. It was pretty cold out and they only had a few picnic tables do we just ordered for pick up. I of course had to listen to my buddy and got the Filthy Animal Biscuit. Our food was ready for pick up within 10 minutes and then went back to the car to eat. Wow this thing was huge easily enough for 2 to share. My first bite blew me away. This was easily the best breakfast folk and knife biscuit sandwich I have ever had. The biscuit was fresh and flakey, the gravy so flavor full and some of the best thick cut bacon I have ever had. Oh my gosh, Biscuit Head really impressed two out-of-town-ers!!! Before I travel I like to read blogs on what to do and where to eat. Biscuit Head came recommended by more than one of the blogs I read so I knew we had to try. We arrived and got in line to order. The employees were so kind and showed us mercy when we didn't know exactly what we wanted to order! I ordered a plain biscuit with 2 jams. I tried the peach rosemary (which was my favorite) and the sour cherry. My fiancé ordered the classic sandwich and added bacon to it. My mind was blown, exceeded my expectations. The biscuits were huge! I was expecting a small biscuit about the size you'd get from Popeyes or something. And the consistency of the biscuit, not dry, but it is lovely and so hard to describe. You must go taste it for yourself, they were light and fluffy. The Jams were so creative and tasty. My fiancé thoroughly enjoyed his breakfast sandwich. You can tell that it has a following as there was a line when we got there. They currently have only outdoor seating but orders must be placed and then picked up. Masks are worn by employees at all times and guests are asked to wear masks and maintain a 6 foot distance from each other while in line and while being seated. My husband opted for the classic breakfast sandwich of biscuit, egg, cheddar cheese and he chose the country ham as his side. The country ham was extremely salty almost to the point where it ruined the sandwich. The biscuit itself though was perfectly cooked nice and crispy and fluffy. I got the gluten-free biscuit and gravy. I was slightly disappointed that there was only one biscuit with a tub of gravy. I really wish you would get at least two biscuits. I opted for the redeye gravy and quite frankly was a little disappointed in the overall flavor and would've gone with the other gluten-free option. Beverage wise my husband got the Pennywise coffee and was very disappointed. Stating that the coffee at the hotel was actually better than that coffee. I opted for a large orange juice and was pleasantly surprised. They state that it's fresh squeezed and I can believe it based upon the flavor. When a local person told us that this restaurant was overrated and touristy/crowded, we should have listened. Unfortunately, we were told that after we ate breakfast here. We waited in a long line outside, and then had to sit at a picnic table outside after we ordered to wait for our food. It was awkward because we had to share the small plastic picnic table with another family because there was not enough seating. I wanted to eat southern biscuits and southern grits on our trip to NC. This was my first time trying grits, and I ordered the pimento cheese grits. I opted for the Pulled Pork Biscuit with jalapeño jam, thick cut bacon slice, poached egg and maple syrup. The pork was fantastic on its own, and this creative concoction was crowned with a perfectly poached egg. Delish! Hubs chose the Country Ham Biscuit with fried green tomato, cheesy egg with a side of red eye gravy. Very good with the exception of the disappointing fried green tomato. His side of pimento grits $3.50, coarse ground, served with a scoop of pimento cheese was so good! On their menu you'll find 9 homemade biscuits options creatively pared with various proteins, jams, gravies and vegan options. This was probably the best biscuit I've had. The biscuits were super flaky and fluffy with a great butter flavor to them. My friend ordered the classic sandwich with the homemade vegan chorizo. She couldn't believe how flavorful it was. My favorite was the jams they offered, especially the apple one. I could just eat it by itself. It was super cold and rainy the day we went but that did not stop the crowd of people that came and waited in line for these biscuits. Due to COVID there is no dine-in option but they do have a few tables and chairs outside (they fill up fast). You can also order online ahead of time. Grubby little place (not in a good way). It seems dirty, sloppy. Dig the jelly jam buffet but also a sloppy affair. Something like that with the general public and even little kids digging in needs to be immaculate. I know there are many styles of biscuits out there. They range from concrete/undercooked/doughy, to substantial and flaky (the ideal), and then on to an airy/cakey style, which is what they have here (not my favorite). They expect at least 20% tip up front, before any service happens-- not really appropriate for self serve on everything except for the actual plate of food. Build the tips into the prices or something, the pre-tip is annoying, and that's coming from someone who overtips even when the service is bad. What you have here is simply NO service for the most part. I'm sure I'll be back at some point but I couldn't be a regular here. read more

I had the Full Breakfast, with eggs over medium (farm fresh), creamy grits, thick country bacon, and the best biscuit I've ever had!!!! To drink, smooth dark roast coffee and a grapefruit mimosa. I'd steer clear of the Coconut-stewed Callalo Collards. If you like collards, these are not too tasty...imho The service was great! They have a jam bar with at least eight different flavors...so good so good. The space is a bit tight but the food is 'A' ALL right!!! I LOVE BREAKFAST!!! This was a disappointing takeout experience. I've gone in the past and each time has gotten worse. I feel like they limited the menu, but after covid, I'm not holding that against them. What I am holding against them is the crumbling biscuit that couldn't hold a sandwich, the chicken that was poorly made, and the mess it turned into. I couldn't even pick the sandwich up, and it really wasn't worth trying. By the end I needed a fork but had no desire to continue eating the food. Quality often goes down when businesses open multiple locations. Good to see their growth but I need them to get it together. Or at least hold the biscuit together. This location is tucked away near the hospital and you could miss it if you blink. It's quaint and was rather busy. There are vegan options on the menu. My wife ordered that and it was dry and dense, when i tried the biscuit i swear I could taste every ingredient as it was gritty in my mouth. On the weekend the line is probably out the door, and the door is on the shady side of the building so bring a jacket! Order at the counter then grab a seat if you can find one. Delightful and delicious! Found this place on yelp and decided to check it out. Parking in Asheville is apparently a little tricky, but we didn't have a problem: 1 hr parking out front. Open space and warm vibe inside. Playfully decorated without being distasteful. There's a slight cat theme, which I'm just not a cat fan, but I still found it funny! Food was incredible!! I had the Filthy Animal biscuit. As a self-proclaimed pimento cheese connoisseur, this was some of the best for pairing with other things! I could taste the pimento without it overwhelming the biscuit. The gravy...oh man. So incredibly delicious! The bacon of the day (which is such a fun thing to have!) was chocolate cayenne. Wouldn't get it again. It wasn't bad; it wasn't standout. We prefer a crispier bacon and it was quite chewy. Again, not bad, but not our favorite. The biscuits however are a DO NOT MISS. Melt in your mouth. Highly recommend. Pimento cheese grits were, "the best grits I've ever had," according to my husband. Part of what made this place so special was the service. We didn't interact much with the staff, but when we did, they were pleasant and helpful. Glad we stopped here on our trip.
