I had been struggling to admit that I needed to find a local place to get my haircut since I moved to the Bay Area 5 years ago. I was still driving 2 hours back to my hometown when I needed a trim. I saw good reviews and reasonable pricing at Bishops so I decided to give it a shot. Arynn sure worked their magic!! I decided to start fresh with cutting several inches off my hair. I loved that Arynn checked in with me throughout, told me what they were doing before they did it, and even told me why they used the techniques they used with my hair. We chatted during my cut and they were just a down to earth person which made the experience of having a new stylist even better. My new favorite haircut spot. I went here on Monday afternoon and didn't have to wait. I checked in using their iPad and Jay took me right in. It's located in downtown Campbell. Interior is clean and modern giving you pleasant welcoming vibe. I've only been to cheap Asian places where they don't speak English well enough to communicate my needs so this place felt super nice. Jay got me a nice fade around the back and the side and thinned out my top hair. He cut off about inch and a half which ended up being the perfect length. Jay asked people waiting if they wanted anything to drink and was attentative to people waiting which I appreciated. Getting the haircut felt longer than usual but that's because Jay put so much effort into making sure everything looked good. In the end he styled my hair for me and even trimmed off spots that we didn't notice prior to using wax. He gave me some great tips on how to keep hair healthy and how to style my hair better using wax and blow dryer. I will come back no doubt. I don't recommend going here, the staff are very self centric. I came here to dye my hair and the girl who did it was literally complaining the whole time about how difficult my hair was because it was short. I was so excited about dying my hair and this experience was turned negative by the shame I was made feel for making her job more difficult than it had to be. Now let's move on to the hair cut. The guys was literally in the phone for the first half of the cut and had a lot of attitude not really caring about the instructions about how I liked my hair. Worst part, u left the place with a really bad rash and cuts. I immediately contacted them again to try to at least get a refund for the hair cut as I hated how the "fade" I wanted came out and all I was offered was credit -_- like seriously, I had to go to a different barber once I healed to get it fixed so a refund was the least they could've done and plus why would I go back to a horrible place? read more

As a preface, I have been cutting my own hair and others for over decade - most barbers just haven't gotten my haircut just right - so when I came across Bishops in downtown Campbell, I was initially skeptical of breaking my tradition. Additionally, as a black man, I wanted to make sure whomever was cutting my hair understood terms I have grown accustomed to when communicating about how I like my hair cut. Daniel is a new barber here, and immediately knew from our conversation that it'd be worth trying out his barber chair at least once. He did not disappoint! At all! In fact, I will say in the sparing times I have gotten hair cuts in major cities from DC to Chicago to LA, Daniel ranks top. His skills are definitely top grade and I will definitely be going back. I have heard of the hit-or-miss experiences many of my friends, and other fellow black males in the Bay have had with getting a good haircut. The short version: Discovering this place has made the Bay Area feel like home. I completely trust Dominique with my hair and she does a perfect job every time. She is so professional and careful and always checks in with me during the appointments. I also love how friendly the staff are and have enjoyed every visit. The long version: Moving itself is already really hard, but finding a hair salon is the most underratedly difficult part. Truly, you cannot feel comfortable in a place until you can realize you need a haircut and be able to make an appointment in 2 minutes. I tried to get my first haircut right away when I moved here and that was awful. I was tense the whole time and so disappointed with the results. It took me about 8 months to finally try to find somewhere else and then I got an EVEN WoRSE haircut. I actually went home and cried about it. And I never thought I was so vain. Finally, about a year into my living here my friend recommends Bishops so I decide to give it a try. When I arrived, I was immediately comfortable with how much it felt like a place where every stylist was paying close attention to all the details and where everyone was treated with respect. The haircut itself was so exceptional. I had the same hairstylist for about 10 years of my life and was blown away by how in 3 minutes I trusted Dominique as much as my former stylist. She was SO good. I was impressed by her expertise and how she seemed to know what would work better than I would - but she still asked me for clarification throughout. I made an appointment online for today at 3:15 with Tania. I received an appointment confirmation and arrived about 15 minutes early for the appointment. I took a seat and waited for my appointment time. As I waited I looked around and observed that some customers were not wearing face masks. One of their staff members was even wearing a mesh/wire face mask (these are not effective against the spread of COVID-19) all this despite clear communications on the shops Yelp page that they take COVID precautions seriously and require face masks be worn by ALL staff and customers. After waiting for 10 minutes I was finally greeted by an employee who checked me in. 5 minutes later (at the scheduled appointment time) the staff member comes back informing me that I need to reschedule because the previous appointment time involved color so there was no way I could be seen that day. This shop has an extremely poor scheduling system, poor customer service, and an obvious disregard for the health and safety of their customers and staff. read more
