I came in on a random Wednesday evening. Around 5 pm. I always notice the big mural on the wall when I walk by and noticed they were empty so I figured why not? Let's get a hair cut! It turns out they are walk ins only, no reservations. Their prices are good and the girl that helped me was so fast and down to earth. I was impressed. It's a laid back kind of salon, but clean new and kinda edgy looking. I am so grateful my daughters come here to get their hair done. Otherwise I may not have ever had the opportunity to have my hair done by JD. From start to finish she kept me informed on everything that she was doing so I would be comfortable and ask questions if I had any. She listened to what I was hoping for and built on it. I honestly have to say I've never had a stylist look at my eye color, skin tone and natural hair color to help me understand the balayage colors she thinks would look good for me. She even worked with the last remaining color i had from highlights that i had done in Dec of 2019! She showed me color samples of hair and pointed out all the details of what to expect when the balayage coloring was added. And! She had to finish off by rescuing me from a bad cut I had from a different salon. She worked to help me keep as much length as possible and gave me the right cut/style I was hoping for. All in all, I recommend Bishops. It's not a huge salon, about 8 chairs, but It's clean and the people were all friendly and they played great music! I've been going to Aileen for years so when she moved salons, I had to stop by and see the new place! The place is very hip and unique. She used Sebastian products to wash and deep conditioned my hair with. We did a trim to get all my previous color out and finished with a blow dry. Not to mention they also serve complementary brew! After googling "Short Hairstyles" for an hour last night, I got hijacked by an algorithm that directed me to Bishop Cut & Color. I went with the flow and scheduled my first appointment with a stylist named Aileen....totally on faith. Walked in 45 mins. early. After a brief chat with Aileen, she went to work. An hour later I looked 20 years younger, with the cutest layered bob! I have found my look and my stylist. In a few months I'll go back and give Aileen free rein. She has talent and skills for days. Everyone there was really friendly and nice. That's why I gave them the two stars and that's where the positives ended for me. This is easily the worst hair experience I've had in over a decade. The woman I saw wanted to cut my hair completely dry. When I questioned this she said they are an a la carte shop. I think she wanted to charge me extra for spraying my hair with a water bottle. When I protested she grudgingly gave it three spritzes. The cut itself is awful. I hate it so much. It's uneven in some places and bulky in others. I didn't realize how bad it was while I was still in the shop and my hair was still damp after a color (story/review for another time). It's only the past few days that I've been trying to work with it that I can tell how truly awful it is. It's going to be such a long, painful 4-6 weeks before I can get it cut again. Really awful experience. If I need another last minute appointment and my usual person is booked, I'll go to the nearest beauty college because they can't do any worse! read more

It is hard to find a shop that understands Asian hair well, our texture is very different than other culture's hair and it takes a certain understanding of hair and head shape to get it to look good. I have been coming to this Bishops locations for years. I made an appointment to trim the lining of my short pixie cut (e.g., sideburns and behind the ears). I didn't care who was going to do it because I figured that's a basic hair stylist skill (maybe that's my fault). I sat down, explained what I would like, and she told me she doesn't use shears. She told me to wait 15 minutes until one of the other stylist could help me. I waited patiently for 25 minutes, then checked in with the front. I was given the option to wait another 10 minutes (I already learned I couldn't tryst was "15 minutes" meant), or reschedule. I chose to leave without rescheduling. Really disappointed. Came here to see Aileen for a haircut and highlights. Loved Aileen and had a wonderful time - the few hours flew by quickly, and loved the end result! I got my highlights showy yet natural looking just like I wanted, and my hair is now easily workable thanks to the haircut. The rest of the staff also seemed very nice and friendly, and the salon itself looks awesome and is nicely decorated (felt really cool and pleasant sitting there). I had a coupon to use as a first timer at this salon and after reading the Yelp reviews, I decided to see Serena. She did NOT disappoint!! I wanted to cut about 4 inches off of my hair to clean up the ends and add some bluntness to it, and with Serena's suggestions, she made my hair look EXACTLY like how I wanted it! She was super fun to chat with and really made sure to let me know what she was going to do and why. Plus the shampoo/head massage she gives when she washes your hair is absolutely amazing and relaxing, so I definitely recommend adding that to the cut as well! read more
