My husband and I hosted a Christmas Party here for the holidays with our family of 30 people. Giovanni made the planning very exciting and eased my nerves and anxiety I had hosting a large dinner party. He was easy to talk to and made great suggestions. He was open to any ideas I had and reassured me that he had my back. When we arrived for the party the staff was so friendly and kind. It was a private party that had dedicated staff to serve us. We had young children attend and even they loved the food and had a great time. Whatever we needed we received so quickly. Our private bar tender was the best part. He stayed late with us and chatted as if he was part of the family. I plan on hosting another private event here when the time comes. We tried Bistro 13 for dinner last night. Honestly this is the kind of restaurant I have been looking for in this area for years. It's a little more upscale than you might expect for the area, the interior is crisp and beautiful, the staff is well dressed and friendly, and the food was superb. Perfect for a date night out. I always like to try something familiar my first time at a new restaurant. I had the pollo piccata and a glass of white wine. As everyone else has reported here, it was delicious. My wife had the caprese salad and an aperol spritz. She was quite pleased with both. Both our server and the owner stopped by a few times to make sure everything was right and we had everything we needed. They really got this part right and it makes all the difference. Attentive and aware service, but not overwhelming. Honestly, I am looking to go back and explore their menu a little deeper. There were a lot of dinner menu items that I really want to try. I was recently invited to a retirement dinner at the Bistro and was pleasantly impressed. I've known of the location but never stopped in. Quite the charming local gem. The service was prompt, personable, very friendly. The bar was spot on. Not a huge selection but enough to get the job done. All the standards were represented. The food was a pleasant surprise. Good portion sizes. Lots of flavor. Good texture. Seasoning. Not overwhelming. Very good spot for date night. Smaller venue. Non chain. I will say this it was a bit over priced. Great little restaurant next to the hotel I was still in yet, Sonesta select. They had a number of Italian type dishes like pasta and so forth but I decided to order the filet mignon instead. Honestly I was a little bit skeptical that an Italian restaurant can make good steaks but I was pleasantly surprised. The filet was cooked to perfection and the seasoning they used was delicious. The outer edges were a little bit crispy and the inside of the fillet was very nice and juicy. Perfectly cooked. Prepared that with some couscous and asparagus. It was a very delicious meal. I ordered the calamari which is pretty good and the bread came along with the meal was good as well. Nothing really much to say about those two dishes. Our favorite restaurant in Camarillo seemed to be closed so we decided to try Bistro 13. Overall it was a nice dinner; menu had good variety, something for everyone. We tried the steamed artichoke appetizer which was disappointing; no flavor at all and only served with some butter, would have been nicer with a special dipping sauce. I had the chicken piccata over capellini pasta; the chicken was was excellent but the capellini was way overcooked/mushy. Lovely soup or salad came with the dinner entrees. For dessert we tried the pistachio cheesecake which was delicious and the chocolate mousse cake which was really a pie and just average. Overall we enjoyed our experience and will probably give it another try. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years. It's been one of our favorites especially for Mother's Day and birthday's. It NEVER disappoints. I honestly recommend it to everyone I know. It's a quaint little place with outstanding food. The lobster ravioli is to die for. The butternut squash ravioli is a close second. My mom swears they have the best caesar salad. I swear they have the best bread. To make a long story short, I've never had anything I didn't like. The owner, Giovanni always remembers us and is always so kind. Wanted to try out a new location for our anniversary this year. Decided to stay local, so we hit up Bistro 13. We got there around 6 and it wasn't as busy, so we sat inside. We were quickly seated and offered wine and or drinks from the bar. They had a full wine menu and full bar. The wine selection wasn't all that great and the waiter couldn't recommend me one to me that fit what I was looking for. I got the lobster ravioli and it was okay, I could do without the peas. My bf got the seared salmon and it was pretty good, I got 1 bite out of it. The pink clam chowder was good. I read from previous reviews to try it. Great service though, just unsure if this would be one of my places I'd crave or want to return to. read more

There was a lot that I enjoyed about this place so I'll start with that before sharing why I knocked off a star. I had tried going to another Italian restuarant in the area before coming to Bistro 13. That restuarant was extremely busy, dark, loud, and obnoxious. The host was rude too. I immediately asked to be taken off the waiting list and called Bistro to learn how long their wait was. The hostess allowed me to put my name on the list and I drove over immediately. The ambiance at Bistro was so much better. Yes, it was busy but the lighting and volume was appropriate for a special dinner and conversation. Luckily, we were escorted to our table pretty quickly. I enjoyed my food and the complementary bread. The calamarie fritti was delicious and I really liked their pesto. Service was good too. As I mentioned the hostess was wonderful. The owner stopped by early on to say hi. Our waiter checked in appropriately. I knocked off a star only because I sat at a table end in a not too crowded section of the restuarant and my chair was bummed into three times by employees without anyone apologizing or acknowledging it. So stange. I wonder if that is common place in this section? Either way it got annoying fast especially since no one said anything to me. My dining buddy and I moved the table closer to the booth seat, I moved my chair closure to the table and problem solved room for people to pass behind me. read more

The kicker was one of the martinis had several fruit flies in it (GROSS!) and it was never addressed as a problem. No apologies. Nothing. What they did apologize for was the vermouth mistake. Really?! The service was a bit creepy as well because the guy hovered over our table uncomfortably. He kept tapping my husband on the shoulder and arm. It was really odd. The food was just alright. The steak wasn't full of flavor and wasn't cooked to the temperature that was asked (medium rare). The Brie and garlic appetizer wasn't anything to write home about. The Chilean sea bass was okay. The lamb was alright as well. The lamb portions were small too. The heirloom tomato salad was decent with a decent amount of burrata cheese, so at least there's that. Overall, we won't be returning. We've had way better food, service, and drinks at Adolfo Grill in Camarillo. We thought we'd give this place a try, but were disappointed. read more

Just came for the first time last night and think this is my new favorite Camarillo restaurant! The food was incredible. I got the risotto calabria - best risotto I've ever had! My husband got the special, osso bucco. He loved it. You get a bowl of soup or salad with your entree. I got the pink clam chowder and it was AMAZING! My only complaint was that the leather chairs were really bad, they are worn and the springs are poking you when you sit down. Luckily the good food distracted from it! read more
