Best chicken wrap I've had in forever! Crispy chicken wrap, with chipotle sauce. I've eaten it twice a day for a week now!

Honest Review The…read morefood was honestly pretty mid. The pasta tasted mid and was a little disgusting, and it didn't really have much flavor. The burger was okay but definitely overcooked and not very juicy. It was missing some flavor. The garlic fries were probably the best thing we ordered. The hibiscus lemonade was decent, and the mocktail we got was actually really good. As for the service, some of the staff were really nice and welcoming, but I did feel a little uncomfortable toward the end. When I asked if I could pay with cash instead of card, I got the impression that the person seating us assumed I was going to leave a tip and seemed disappointed when I clarified that I was just paying cash. I also felt like some of the servers were giving us an attitude afterward because we didn't tip. Overall, tipping is a personal choice, and I don't think customers should feel judged or pressured because of it. Some of the staff were genuinely kind, but unfortunately the food and the experience weren't enough for me to want to come back.

Luckily, I heard tremendous things leading up to my visit, so I finally made an effort to try it for myself. Let me just start out by saying: This is as good as soul food gets. There's a reason Joe Rogan shouted this spot out on his podcast several years ago. My group was immediately greeted by Chef Paul himself upon our arrival. He sat us down and got our drinks going right away. Another lady then took our orders. They had a Lamb Shank special going, so I decided to snag their last one of the day. We did wait a little while for the food, but it was well worth it. You can tell they put a lot of effort into bringing out fresh and flavorful plates for their customers! The Lamb came out glazed in thick, flavorful sauce and topped with parsley and onion. It was phenomenal. I didn't realize one could make Lamb taste THAT good. It was super flavorful and moist, and I wish they could keep it as a staple on their menu. My sides were Braised Cabbage, Chili Beans, and Cornbread. They all tasted great, but the Chili Beans really stood out for me. I love how they had a little kick that really upped the flavor profile. My grandma got the Fried Chicken with Potato Salad, Collard Greens, and Cornbread while my brother went with another special of the day: Turkey Wings and Cornbread Stuffing with Gravy and Mac & Cheese on the side. There were ZERO complaints among us. Every single one of our orders were exceptional. Chef Paul was attentive to every table in the restaurant, and he was constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything. I can now see why this restaurant gets so much praise. Chef Paul does it right! Thank you for such a delightful meal.

In a word, delicious. The Mac N Cheese is baked & hot & tasty. My wife really liked the Collards & enjoyed her chicken thighs. Servers are very attentive. This place is really small & the ambiance is Dayton, OH funk (think Roger & Lakeside) which made this former Gem City resident happy. They only have a few tables so most of their business seems to be take out. Everything is cooled to order so there is a wait, but it is well worth it. I will be back to try the catfish. 5-stars

I ordered the **BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger**, and while the presentation wasn't the most impressive, it does come with an onion ring, which is a nice touch. It's not my favorite burger on the menu, but it's still very good. I'd give it an **8/10**. The **Monster Burger** is where it's at, though! This is easily a **9/10** and one of those burgers you really can't go wrong with. The portion size, quality, and price are all excellent, and I especially love that it comes with two different types of cheese. Definitely one of the best options here. We also ordered the **Southwestern Salad**, which was really good. I would recommend asking for extra dressing because it could definitely use a little more. Overall, I'd give the salad an **8/10**. The **fries are always a 10/10**. The side portion is huge and easily enough to share, which makes it an even better value. The drinks are good as well. The **service is always top-notch**. They treat you like family, and the food comes out quickly. I also like that the restaurant has both a traditional service side, where tipping is optional, and a self-service side where you find your own table and pick up your food, so tipping isn't necessary. The **ambiance is one of the best things about this place**. If you're a sports fan, you'll love it. There's tons of sports memorabilia throughout the restaurant and plenty of TVs showing different games. It's a great place to hang out, grab some food, and watch sports. Being right across the street from Fresno State is also a huge plus. The only real downside is the **parking**. They definitely need to find a way to increase the amount of parking because it can be difficult to find a spot. Overall, this is a great place with **good food, generous portions, reasonable prices, excellent service, and an unbeatable sports atmosphere**. Definitely worth checking out!

Last night we came for tri-tip and left with dogfood…read more Been going here for 15 or 20 years now? All great. The one time we have clearly overcooked meat that tastes like horse the manager completely dismissed my 72-yo mother in a very rude way. I guess selling "1000s of sandwiches today with zero complaints" is good enough to completely dismiss us. What likely happened was they saved the overcooked meat till the end of the day (we went 20 minutes before closing) and we were the schmucks that got it. What really pissed me off though is that the manager had veins popping out of his neck. The way he was talking to my elderly mother was inappropriate. Thankfully he cooled down when I walked up to the conversation. All she wanted was to replace our 4 tritip sandwiches with another. Whoever the manager was needs some serious customer service training and needs to learn how to speak to people.

Our waitress was very friendly and on top of things throughout. However, neither my husband or I liked our food, especially at the price point. He ordered a burger, fries and a salad. I ordered the peri peri fried chicken sandwich. I imagined that there was some spicy peri peri and then some sweet slaw to compensate and balance, but it arrived with so much peri peri sauce on it the bun was drenched and the sauce was too overpowering. I ended up throwing away half the bun. The chicken itself was great and cooked perfectly. I could see myself ordering this again but asking for only a small amount of the peri peri. I also ordered a different side than fries and was told there was an upcharge. I expected a couple bucks, but it was an extra $10 for the upgrade. Come on! Most places charge less than that for an additional side dish, let alone for a switch. So my husband and I both were charged an extra $10, me for my upgrade and he for his side salad. This made our bill ridiculous for our enjoyment of the food. I know prices have gone up everywhere, but there are plenty of other upscale places around where I can get better food for less.

QUICK TAKE Get: Blackened Salmon Tacos Skip: Ultimate Combo Louie, Shrimp Cocktail, Grilled Alaskan Halibut Know: Several of the seafood dishes tasted dry or tired, and the meal did not feel worth the price. The only thing I would recommend is the Blackened Salmon Tacos. They come with fire-roasted salsa, avocado, cabbage-cilantro slaw, pico de gallo and lime crema. These had much better flavor, texture, and balance than the rest of our meal. Unfortunately, the other seafood was where things really fell apart. Ultimate Combo Louie: This comes loaded with jumbo prawns, shrimp and Dungeness crab, so at $38 I expected it to feel like a premium seafood salad. It didn't. The seafood lacked freshness and the shrimp in particular were soft and soggy. Shrimp Cocktail: Probably the most disappointing item. The shrimp tasted old and had a limp, waterlogged texture instead of being firm and fresh. Grilled Alaskan Halibut: At $42, this should have been one of the highlights. Instead, the fish was dry and overcooked, which is especially frustrating with a piece of halibut at this price. Hoisin Brussels Sprouts: Way too sweet for me. The sweetness completely overwhelmed the Brussels sprouts instead of complementing them.
