    Stunning views!

Great views, tasty drinks, and gorgeous views! This hidden gem is inside the Marriott off Keystone. You walk in and directly can walk right ahead into the Bistro where you can sit yourself in the seating or at the bar. Despite it being located just off the hotel lobby, it was pretty quiet even though we visited on a weekend. If you sit by the windows on a sunny day, prepare to be extra toasty! They had a good sized menu with plenty of options for appetizers, mains, cocktails, and some dessert options, too. We came for lunch, but dinner may be great, too. Prices were also quite reasonable. We'd definitely visit again. This spot would actually be really beautiful for a photoshoot, too!

Nicely decorated lobby area bistro inside of the Marriott Keystone hotel. Spectacular views of the lake and surrounding properties which has a walking path that goes entirely around the lake where you can see walkers and joggers pass by. The area closest to the lake has a patio type feel as it's all glass ceiling lets in lots of light. Although it's not a sports bar feeling restaurant, there are lots of TVs with sports on. The only meal that I've had here is the Asian chicken salad. All of the veggies look and taste fresh and the dressing is delicious. It's a wonderful salad that I highly recommend.

Bistro 33 is located inside and just off the main lobby of the Indianapolis Marriott North hotel on River Crossing Parkway north of 86th Street. I was in there for the first time today for lunch and found it a pleasant if somewhat puzzling experience. The bistro is open for breakfast/brunch/lunch every day and stays open for dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is ample and convenient with the entire hotel lot to choose from. The decor is quite elegant with seating for approximately fifty diners at a combination of chairs, benches, and stools in the area that is open for lunch. That's not counting the bar or the adjoining dining area that can be opened as needed. The floor-to-ceiling windows making up the south wall (there is also a glass ceiling) assure that the area is bright and also provide a wonderful view of the large adjacent lake. There are a few muted TVs variously tuned to news and sports. Background music plays throughout at a level conducive to easy table conversation. The service I received was for the most part prompt, professional, and friendly. My primary server was Bryant and he did an excellent job. I ordered the Clam Chowder followed by the Boom Boom Shrimp and then the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. It was all good. The chowder was hearty and flavorful, the sauce on the shrimp was delectably tangy, and the philly cheese was satisfactually full of meat, peppers, and cheese. Perhaps the one sour note was notwithstanding that a server(?) had specifically asked if I wanted fries or chips with my sandwich, and I told her chips, I heard her orally pass the order on to Bryant as fries. I didn't make a fuss; again, it was all good. The puzzling part of the experience was why they were doing so little business. When I walked in right at noon time there were only two diners there ahead of me sharing a table by the windows. About thirty minutes later as they got up and left a party of three walked in and took a table behind me. So in the time I enjoyed a leisurely lunch there was at no time more than two tables being used nor more than a total of four diners present. Let me emphasize, this was right at the noon hour in an area surrounded by businesses, offices, and residences. I would have thought lunchtime would have had people lined up at the door. On a different matter, I wonder why there is not a complete current menu for this establishment available anywhere online. For all that, the food was excellent and I had a very positive dining experience. I don't believe I have ever before used the phrase "a hidden gem" in a review, but if anyplace is deserving of that accolade it is Bistro 33.

We were graciously greeted by two pleasant hosts and shown to our table after a short wait. As soon as we were seated, I was given a birthday card and well wishes. Shortly after, our waiter, Eric, came by to introduce himself. He wished me a happy birthday, told me to save room for dessert because it was on him and then proceeded to tell us about the history of the restaurant, the food they specialize in, the night specials, and his recommendations before taking our drink order. Eric really made the night special for me with his professionalism and obvious pride in the restaurant. He is truly top notch and we will ask to be seated in his section when we return and I highly recommend him if you desire great service. Now the food... Eric recommended the Oyster Rockefeller and Calamari for starters. They were both delicious! For entrees, I had the prime strip steak, fries, and Caesar salad. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned just right. The sides were good as well. My husband had the ribeye, mashed potatoes, navy bean soup, and wedge salad. His steak was cooked to perfection and he absolutely loved his chosen sides. My daughter had the king crab sushi roll, which she rated a 7/10. Now, on to dessert. Eric told us his favorite is the key lime pie. I love a good key lime pie so I ordered it. In fact, I always order key lime pie if it's on the menu where ever we dine. Of all the pies I've had in recent years, it was the truly the best with perfectly balanced key lime with a brûlée-d top. My daughter had the coconut cream pie and my husband had the bread pudding. We all agreed the desserts were scrumptious. We had a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant has a great vibe, service was brisk without a single thing being overlooked. I really had a great birthday dinner! Thank you!

The service - exceptional. We ordered the lemon drop martini, Elmo Cola, the Gatsby and liquid love affair. I asked for the liquid love affair to have a very light pour of alcohol and they obliged. Everyone loved their drinks. Even me. And I am NOT a drinker. We ordered shrimp cocktails, lobster bisque, steaks and lobster. Everything so good. My son's steak was overdone but they happily remade it and ALL the sides that came with it. Just immaculate service. We also ordered the chocolate mousse pie. We asked our server to place the candles we had brought on top. Lemme tell you. The service. Just so good. She realized they were sparkler candles so she waited to light it until she was at our table. We did ask the manager if we could present our son his gift during dinner. It was a firearm and we didn't wanna cause any drama or "unsafe" feelings even though, obvi, it wouldn't have been loaded. We did want to respect the establishment and their other patrons. He kindly declined and, of course, we understood. Can we talk about service? Just so exceptional. Customer service for me will make or break any experience. The bills was... A LOT. Even AFTER they comped everything the birthday boy had ordered. But even if they hadn't comped ANYTHING... I always believe in paying good money for good food. The place was clean. The bathroom clean. And there is a lot for parking. Just the best time was had.

(Because I hate shopping for clothes.) But mostly, I visit when I'm at the Landmark to see a movie. I've visited this bar many times, and every time has been a pleasant experience. They have a full menu of cocktails -- sometimes even special cocktails that are themed with the movies that are playing. They also have a decent wine menu. They also have local beer available, and some snacks. The bar has a door that enters from the mall, but also a door that you can access from the theatre. There are lots of tables here, and it's never crowded. It's usually pretty quiet except for the sound of whatever is playing on the TV above the bar -- usually sports. All of the bartenders that I've encountered have been extremely efficient and friendly. They'll usually ask you what movie you're here to see, or how you're doing, which I don't usually care about but it's nice when they do it here.

We went for a 3:00 show on a Sunday such that by the time we got out, it was 6:00-still early. It was in the 30's outside and already dark (thanks DLS time). Yet as we reached the top of the stairs to the lobby I was immediately disappointed that there was no fire lit in the fireplace. There were only three parties in the place. One was around the corner in the adjoining sitting area and may or may not have been drinking. There were two couples at the bar, where we considered also sitting. But the only empty spot for two had two dirty drink glasses from a previous patron still sitting. So we opted for the leather couch and chair in the main area just across from the bar. And that's where we waited, and waited, for almost 30 minutes, before giving up on getting served (or acknowledged). There was only one bartender, so we were fine with going up to order but communication would have been helpful. We stood at the bar while she chatted with the two couples, who'd all been served. We couldn't really figure out what she was doing as she seemed busy-ish yet wasn't serving, or clearing, or washing, and we were chatting between ourselves and didn't really give it much thought. Then she said she was out of something and was leaving the bar to go fetch it. We asked her to let us know when she was ready to serve us, and we took our seats to resume our conversation. The bartender returned after a while, and she served one of the original couples ... for another 10 minutes at least. Again we were talking so, while an irritation, it was in the background. About 50 minutes into our visit, she came over and took our drink order. This was my third or fourth visit, and I'd ordered my drink, an old fashioned, before and knew what to expect: bourbon of choice, Luxardo cherry, and a dehydrated orange slice. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. Now mind you, my friend ordered a glass of wine. Nothing time consuming about that. She noted that her pour was smaller than the other times she'd been there. Mine came with the whisky cube already on its way to melted, a broken (a.k.a. piece of) cherry and a twist. What? Where's my glorious little crunchy orange wheel of goodness? I had spied them on the bar earlier. No soup for me! Also, and I can't be sure 100% sure of this, but I tasted neither bitters nor syrup. Was this really just a bourbon rocks? It took a minute but we realized this gal cannot tend and talk at the same time. My friend commented that she had no idea what will happen when the place gets busy, as it has been every other time I've been there. We left after 8:00, after one drink, and for me, $21 lighter. Yeah, it's pricey. And the Carmichael crowd is a discriminating one. So we expected better. Much, much better.

Some were quietly relaxing while others were catching up over drinks. The coffeehouse-meets-cocktail-bar aesthetic is well executed and gives the space a distinct personality. The service was friendly and welcoming. My only complaint was the temperature inside. It was nearly 100 degrees outside, but the bar felt warm with very little air circulation. It was almost refreshing to step back into the muggy heat after leaving, which probably isn't the feeling you're hoping to give your guests. I'd definitely come back for the drinks and atmosphere, but I'd hope for a cooler temp next time.
