I was very happy with a catering order I placed to serve 25 people. It included 10 DELICIOUS salmon kabobs 10 chicken kabobs, and vegetarian kabobs. This came with plenty of rice salad, pita bread, roasted tomatoes, sauces and salad dressing. It was more than enough to serve my crowd. Everything was packaged perfectly in aluminum trays which fit in my oven briefly to hold at 200°. There were many compliments at my function asking for the name of the restaurant so more customers will certainly result. Had a great experience tonight. Brought our family from out of town and are already talking about coming back next time! The staff was so kind and helpful helping Our large group collectively navigate the menu... we ate some of everything. Started with the appetizer platter. Hummus is velvety- (second only to a Dear friend's Lebanese grandma's version)and baba Ghanoush had just the right amount of smoky flavor. Entree Portions are generous and were cooked perfectly. After eating here the first time it Instantly became one of my favorite 3 places to eat with both of the other two up in Los Angeles. The food is of high quality and made fresh to order. My wife and I have been eating here since they switched to Bistro Kebab. One of our favorite meals in all of SD. Reliably great with friendly staff and consistently prompt service. While I've always lived the beef and the shrimp entree plates, their new pizza is so good it could be a standalone pizza restaurant. This is my experience: What I got: - 2x Pita-wrapped lamb doner - French fries - Basmati rice - Greek sauce and Hummus - Baklava Positives: - Good portion size - French fries weren't bad (I did get a couple pieces of unfried potato in there though) Negatives: - Dry meat - Too much lettuce - Greek sauce was spoiled - The wrap was way dry, thin, and lacked flavor - Basmati rice is HALF saffron rice - Baklava tasted decent, but the consistency was not that of regular baklava (Ive had better prepackaged from North Park Market) - Pricey for how bad it was. To be honest, this is the worst Mediterranean experience I have ever had. Considering all of the places that are nearby, I would've expected this to be much better than it was. Ordered two dinner combinations last night online at 8:23 pm (the close at 9:00 pm), the order was promised for 8:45 pm and was ready on my arrival slightly before the promised time however, the clerk handed me the bag (order was prepaid) and said it was ready. Upon getting home, the order was missing an order of soup which was an upscale from a combination included salad. The clerk did not mention the item was missing, in fact she said it was all prepared and ready to go. She was wrong and clearly didn't bother to verify the order. When I got home, the receipt stapled to the bag had written on it where the soup was listed along with the item being circled "no soup" but there was no corresponding adjustment to the bill nor did the clerk mention the order was not fulfilled as ordered and paid for. I called the restaurant at 8:58 pm, two minutes before closing but no answer. I guess closing at 9:00 pm really means something earlier in practice. I called the next morning and explained what happened, the clerk had a very hard time understanding that the bill should be credited for the value of the salad (not provided) and the upsale price for substituting the soup. The refund is the value of both items.Tough concept right?? After much discussion and her pulling the order by it's receipt number, she said she would have to have a manager get back to me. She verified my name, phone number and email address as well as the receipt number and promised to have the manager get back to me promptly. That didn't happen. I called again, some six hours later, was immediately put on hold, waited five (5) minutes on hold with no checking back. I then hung up & called back and the phone, after repeated attempts was not answered with an error message that the call could not be completed. It was a redial call back so there was no error in dialing. Still no response. Really bad customer service, very poor restaurant procedures and protocols and zero follow up. This is an example of very poor procedures, supervision and restaurant operations. If you can't get the small stuff right you sure can't get the big stuff right. Classic example of a case in point. It is so nice to finally have a place in north county where you can get hummus, falafel, tahini- you know, middle eastern food. I know there are a couple kabab places around but not sure they have falafel. We went on a Saturday evening. It wasn't very crowded. The place looked nice and very clean. You place your order at the counter, pay there and they bring you your food when ready. We ordered the lamb chops to share which came with four pieces and two sides. We chose hummus, and salad. It also came with two pieces of pita bread. The lamb was flavored wonderfully. The first piece I ate was thicker than the others so it was cooked well. The others were thinner so they were a bit over cooked and a little dry. Lamb should be medium to medium rare... The salad was very good. It came with a nice tasting balsamic vinegar dressing. The hummus was okay. My mom makes hummus and tahini better so I may be a little biased. Hers has more flavor. We also ordered the falafel appetizer, side of pita bread (since it doesn't come with any) and a side of fries. The fries were great. Crispy and cooked well. The falafel comes with a side of tahini. It was good. Not the best I have ever had but I have yet to find good falafel in San Diego. The tahini lacked a bit in flavor. I found this place to be a bit on the pricier side. Service was great. Portion size is no good. They cheat you on the salad by putting a giant lettuce leaf in the bowl that cuts off half the bowl, so they don't have to fill it all the way. The tabouleh isn't finely processed, so it's made up of huge bulky parsley leaves. It really doesn't taste good. The tandoori tastes great, but they barely give you any for how much they charge. Highly recommend this place! I stopped in for lunch as I work nearby and had the chicken doner wrap with fattoush salad. I really enjoyed it, although the lavash was actually a wheat tortilla which I wasn't super happy about, but the fattoush salad has a touch of pomegranate molasses that gives it a really nice flavor.
