Make sure to make reservations, as it's a popular spot. The restaurant is also great for smaller groups. There are only four tables that can seat six or more, making it an ideal spot for a romantic date or a girls' night out. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes. We ordered two random items from the menu, and they were more than enough to fill our bellies. The prices are reasonable, and we would rate the food an almost 10 out of 10. We got a bottle of wine and two dishes under a bill, which is a steal! The wine was amazing, and it complemented the food perfectly. Overall, we had a wonderful time at this restaurant. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

I did think that a slice of the hazelnut cake would still be a good deal at $8, but the "slice" was actually only a couple of bites and the quality was poor. So it was hit and miss on many fronts. The Italian meatballs were quite good but the scallops and brussel sprouts were not. The Pasta alla Besciamella was not to my taste at all (after a bite I had it boxed up for my friend to take home) but even though the catch of the day (red snapper) was overcooked, the risotto underneath was heavenly. Our waiter was quite engaging although not attentive.

In my opinion, one of the important reasons Vinology is still here and also successful has to do…read morewith the fact that thinking outside the box and literally going the extra mile for a customer is valued. I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

When visiting back in May, there was only 1 Bar tender and while there weren't too many people, service was still slow. We were not in a rush and the bar tender was busy so we were not upset. The bar tender was super pleasant and apologetic, so no points off for service but they definitely need more help. Overall, I would visit again.

I only discovered this place because a very popular…read moreand incredible salsa instructor teaches here on Sundays (highly recommend him he is 'SalsaEddy'). Unfortunately, after one of my classes there, I forgot my shoes that I had changed out of and I called them to see if they could look and they were very rude and hung up on me because they simply said no we can't do that. So I quickly messaged the instructor, knowing his classes were still going on, and not long after he messaged me back a picture and said are these your shoes and I'm so happy he did that because I don't trust this place to have cared, but to also have even looked after the class was over. He kindly left it with the staff there and let me know so I called and they were very rude and snappy to say "Yes OK?! we have them". I was unable to go that following week to pick them up so I went a little over a week later and I just wanted to call to confirm they were still there and the person again was very rude and simply said "YES WE ALREADY TOLD YOU A WEEK AGO THEY WERE HERE AND YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE COME TO PICK THEM UP SO IF YOU DIDN'T THEN THEY MUST STILL BE HERE!" and hung up. Since I was making the commute out there in traffic on a Friday with my daughter I decided to call back and ask that they confirm that they're still back there and the same gentleman answered, and very rudely said " LISTEN WE ARE NOT A SHOE STORE. SO NO WE ARE VERY BUSY!" and to no surprise been a surprise HUNG UP right after that. When I got there, there were tables open and the bartenders greeted me and clearly did not know. I was the same person that they had been very rudely talking to so I asked about the shoes he went and got them and I asked if he was the gentleman I had taught you on the phone and he couldn't even look me in the eye but still said "no". However, I recognized his voice and clearly knew it was him. This place is not only is very expensive for drinks and food, but the staff being the way they are no customer should ever be treated like this. I was not rude, was not angry, and yet was treated with such little respect. There are a bunch of other, really nice places with the same vibe and much nicer stuff that you can give your money to on a night out. **Update: completely disagree with your response, and the fact that you can't take ownership for the way that your staff talks to customers is exactly why I feel my review is very valid. I did not call 8 times. These were not house slippers. Also, some additional notes you made are not true.**

WOW! Everything from the food to the service was top tier!…read more We came for a girls' night on a Thursday to try their $25 duck fat fries and steak deal. For the 4 of us, we shared: - 2 steak & duck fat fries orders - 1 chopped caesar salad The caesar salad is one of the best in Houston. I knew they meant business when I saw the shape of the grated parmesan cheese (fresh off the block), the chives for garnish, and the perfect lettuce to dressing ratio (the dressing is made in-house, they include a few whole anchovies which blend in really well!) When our steak and duck fat fries came out, we thought the portions looked pretty small, but it was actually very filling. About halfway into eating the 2 orders split among the 4 of us, we considered getting another, but quickly changed our minds. Those duck fat fries creep up on you! The duck fat fries were so delicious, thickly cut, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. Dipping it in the steak juice and melted herb butter on your plate is the way to go! For our dips, we got the chili aioli and avocado ranch. The chili aioli tasted like any other spicy mayo to me, but I loved the avocado ranch for cutting the richness of the meal! The herb butter on the steak was very tasty. The steak itself was solid, nothing crazy, but you can only order it cooked medium. The parking can be rough, especially if you're not used to parking in the city. They have their own lot, but it fills up quickly, so you may have to look for nearby garages. The ambiance was perfect for a girls' night, the decor really made it feel like a New York speakeasy, and the photo booth was so HD! They do not take reservations for the dining area in the evening, so we ended up waiting an hour for the 4 of us. Definitely swing by when you're not in a rush!
