    A little salty. Beef stew.

Great service. Good people watching. Restaurant doesn't know what it wants to be: a casual cafe, vibing brunch spot, or elegant restaurant. Food was good. Not the best French I have ever had. The French onion soup was a little thick. I felt like I tasted the bottom of the pot. The beef stew was delightfully tender and came with mashed potatoes, carrots, etc. It was a tad bit salty. My partner had duck which was sliced off the bone not the rustic duck you would have in Europe. The orange flavor overwhelmed the duck it was still very good. The Crème brûlée was very good! Sweet and creamy. I would've liked to have it a little warm. Overall a good experience. You had to get up in price to get a decent wine.

We really enjoyed my dinner here. Everything was truly amazing from the staff opening the door for us walking in, to pulling the chair out when we sat down it made us feel very welcomed. The vibe inside is very intimate, perfect for date night, or for a small family dinner. They don't have a super large menu, maybe 20ish items, but trust they are all heavy hitters. The highlight of our meal was the chilean seabass w/ gnocchi , and the duck breast. Honestly that might have been one of the best sea basses I've ever had, slightly smoky, paired so well with the pea puree, and the gnocchi just melted in our mouths. The roasted duck breast was also amazing, the duck was super tender, in the butternut squash sauce combined with the mushrooms creates an earthy and meaty dish perfect for the fall.

Came with friends for Houston Restaurant Week. The service was friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. The space feels a bit tight as it's divided into three small sections. Surprisingly, one of the highlights for me was the complimentary bread roll. It's served piping hot with a crisp crust. Simple but genuinely delicious. That said, they only bring one at a time, and you have to flag someone down for refills, which feels a bit inconvenient. For my meal, I started with the lobster bisque. It had a nice flavor, but I was hoping for some hearty chunks of lobster. Instead, it mostly offered a lobster essence with a few small flakes. Next was the sole fish, which unfortunately didn't wow me. The butter sauce made the dish feel overly oily, and the flavor overall was just okay. We ended with profiteroles for dessert. I only managed to get a bite, but even that was underwhelming. The ice cream melted too quickly, turning into a mushy blob when you tried to cut into it. A bit more chill time could've made a big difference. Flavor-wise, it was dominated by the chocolate syrup, and I was left wishing for something a bit more refined or memorable. Overall not bad, but pretty average food. I will say, I was very full!

Came here during Houston Restaurant Week 2025 and made reservations ahead of time. For my first course, I got the Maine Lobster Bisque (really good, perfect creaminess and not too seafood-y). 2nd course, I got the Beef Bourguignon (as expected, it was fall of "bone" tender meat and the sauce was tasty paired with the mashed potatoes worked well). For dessert, I ended it with the ÎLE FLOTTANTE À LA PISTACHE (which is a pistachio custard, soft meringue, caramel drizzle, toasted almonds and I thought it was quite light and refreshing). The waiter was patient and friendly as well. Parking - within the uptown plaza Lots of seating indoors.

Tried their HRW menu, they did not disappoint. Great service Good food Nice ambiance, casual to nice--relaxed though.

Most of the entrees were over seasoned and salty. Servers are very friendly and professional though.

Small, intimate space that is perfect for a romantic date or small party. Went for a birthday date night and everything was incredible! Had salade de tomate and escargot for starters and then a delicious and savory beef burgundy and coq au vin! Definitely recommend for a romantic date! Note that the parking lot is pretty congested and parking is LIMITED.

Here for HRW brunch with a friend. For the first course, we tried the escargot and avocado toast; the escargot leaned a bit salty for my taste, while the avocado toast was on the sour side but overall decent. The standout was definitely the second course - the coq au vin with tender, juicy chicken thigh, and the summer vegetable risotto was nicely balanced with truffle notes and a refreshing touch from the vegetables. Both were seasoned perfectly. We finished with the pistachio custard (+$4), which ended up being a bit too sweet for us. Overall, we had a great experience with excellent service.

Filet de Sole Aux Capres and Coq Au Vin for brunch on Houston Restaurants Week

Met a friend for Sunday brunch. Was a bit apprehensive as we walked from the entrance all the way through the restaurant, but our table in the wine room was perfect. Quiet and cozy. A perfect place to catch up with a good friend. Ordered on the Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW) menu which has been extended through September 30 to help both the Houston Food Bank with donations as well as local restaurants who have been affected by recent storms and power outages. Brunch is $25. Started with the avocado toast. Toast À L'Avocat Et Saumon Fume. It just sounds so fancy. Toasted brioche topped with creamy avocado marmalade, a warm poached egg, smoked salmon, and Hollandaise sauce. This would have been enough for brunch. Definitely start with this one. My friend's Soupe Glacee de Tomate au Baslic, a roasted tomato and basil soup with macerated tomato, fresh mozzarella, and olives, was also tasty. For the brunch entrees, we ordered the Coq au Vin and the Filet de Sole aux Capres. The Coq au Vin was so tender. Chicken thighs braised in red wine with pommes mousseline and vegetables. The potato mousseline was velvety smooth and creamy. Amazing! Lots of tender veggies. Cauliflower, mushrooms, carrots, and snow peas. Delicious! The Filet de Sole aux Capres was cooked in a lemon butter sauce with capers. Topped with fingerling potatoes, cauliflower and snow peas, it was a delicious brunch entree. Felt like we were at a Parisian Cafe. Added a couple of desserts which were a deal at $4 each. The Clafoutis aux Nectarines is a warm almond cake filled with yellow nectarines and topped with a scoop of caramel bourbon ice cream. So good. The Creme Prise À La Vanille, vanilla panna cotta topped with red berries and an almond crumble, was so light and flavorful. A perfect ending to a delightful meal. Made a reservation on Open table. So happy that we sat in the wine room. So cozy and comfortable to be away from the busy main dining room. Service was great from Gabe. Parking can be a challenge in Uptown Park, but plenty of parking spaces if you are willing to walk. Valet is also available. Merci pour ce délicieux repas. It truly was a delightful dining experience.

Wanted to check out Etoile for a while so I was glad my friend suggested it for a Saturday brunch during HRM (which was extended this year). She made a 12:30 pm reservation and when we arrived, parking was a bit tough. While they do have valet ($8-$10), there is open parking but the area gets so busy on the weekends but I lucked out and found a spot. We were seated right away and provided with the lunch menu (they only have brunch on Sunday) and the HRM menu to browse through. I wasn't really blown away by the menu but decided to go with their version of avocado toast as my starter and for my meal, I got the solê fish. Our meals came out swiftly but it left a lot to be desired. It wasn't well seasoned but again, it is french cuisine. The service, however, was exemplar and that made up for the bland food. Our waiter was attentive, funny and even kept my friend's daughter entertained. That alone will bring me back for Sunday brunch.

Finally checked this place out as part of HWR24 and I was thoroughly impressed with their food and lunch service. The choices for the HWR lunch menu were great and you had the option to add a dessert for an extra cost. Walking in, you definitely get more of a high-end but somewhat welcoming vibe. There's the like fine dining touches of attentive waiters and staff with some Texas hospitality, which was somewhat of a weird mix for me but appreciated. Ordering strategically as a couple means we each got to try multiple dishes, which is, in my opinion, the best way to eat. I thought everything was great, the lobster bisque was very rich and creamy and such a nice lobster flavor that the creme fraiche helped tame and keep interesting. The sole was super buttery but light and of course I got foie gras as an addition and just added (probably unnecessarily but I couldn't resist) a level of richness and unctuous that made the meal all the more great. Finally, desserts were also great, personal favorite was the pistachio + meringue, I could have that all day. Overall, highly recommend as a spot for food or a treat yourself meal!

French food is my favorite cuisine and I have been to France multiple times and I will say this place did not disappoint! The ambiance is a little more stuffy and for an older crowd but still a nice place. Unfortunately had to sit in the heat outside because they ran out of tables indoors. I got a pamplemousse cocktail that was deliciously fresh and was strong yet refreshing. Escargots 9/10: They were really tender and traditional with the herb butter sauce. I wish there was a little bit more seasoning such as a dash of salt or something to revive the taste a bit and balance the butteriness. Coq au vin 10/10: The vegetables were absolutely delicious and the chicken in the wine sauce was to die for! It was sooo tender and a really good portion size. From my friend she said she gave both the bisque de homard(lobster bisque) and the risotto a 10/10! The only reason I'm not giving the place a 5 is because of the vibe it still has stuffy uptight vibe and it was insanely hot to be seating people outside. If I knew that u could call ahead to reserve indoor seating I would have.

3.5 Stars. Came here for HRW brunch to celebrate a couple of birthdays. The experience was such a rollercoaster from beginning to end. We had a reservation via Opentable for 6 guests at around 2 pm. When we got there on time, our table wasn't ready just yet. We did get seated after 15 minutes, so not terrible. When we got seated, the hostess just put the menus on the table and walked away not realizing that the table was only for 5 guests so we were left standing wondering if she sat us at the wrong table. I understand the place was packed, but this made for a very awkward start to our brunch. I went over to the hostess table to inform them what happened, and the manager apologized and moved us to a table that could actually sit all of us but it was a tight squeeze as it was almost blocking the hallway. As we were ready to order they then moved us again to a better situated table in their private hall. Now that we have the seating situation finally sorted out, I can finally talk about the rest of the experience. Other than how packed it was, the place actually is kinda cute and vibrant. They have walls decked with wine bottles where we were seated. Our server was prompt and attentive. The $25 HRW brunch menu was a pretty decent deal. I got the escargot, coq au vin and the almond cake (extra$4). The escargot was flavorful and cooked well, they serve it without the shell which was fine although I prefer it with - just makes the experience more fun. The chicken was good and tender, and the pommes mousseline it came with was super smooth and creamy. I also noticed a pretty good selection of wine - a plus if you're wino! The almond cake was worth the extra charge. It was nice and warm and just the perfect end to the whole meal. All in all food wasn't bad. I want to add that I did mention we were celebrating multiple birthdays for this brunch. I did expect some sort of greeting card/birthday dessert or even a simple greeting from the staff - all we did not get unfortunately. Overall, I am on the fence if we should return or not. French dining in the city is very hit or miss. The overall service may have overshadowed the food in this instance. Give it a shot and hopefully your experience will be smoother than ours!

We've eaten here once and the ladies wore dresses. We noticed many in pants. That was a Friday night and we felt we overdressed. Having only been there once though, would like to know what patrons think. Are pants or nice jeans ok for a Tuesday?

3/6/26-Michelin Man? More like Michelin...maaaaaaan…read more.. In good Mel and the Doctor fashion, a rough week equates to "let's go have a great night." We get dressed up and venture to Le Jardinier. While we were super excited and ready for a great Friday evening, we checked in with an unwelcoming hostess. Mind you, this is our first impression since we have never been to any of the locations. He asked the hostess if we would be seated close or after our reservation time (that would determine if we would have a drink at the bar), we received a condescending toned response of "you can have a seat and I will work on getting a status update on that." Duly noted. A few minutes later we were told we could go to the bar to only then be escorted to the table. So we will look past that "weirdness" of initial service and get ready for a stiff drink...the bartenders know what they are doing! Martinis were the name of the game and they were perfect. Just perfect. The prefixe and wine pairing was the game plan. But before the fun stuff, came the bread service. Bread was more than bread, it was warm savory pillows with the perfect butter. Made a crumbly mess while tearing up the bread basket, expected table crumbler service, after, nothing. For Michelin, we expected the fine dining cleaning in between each course. The service was odd, and the servers seemed cold. The kanpachi and the scallop of the prefixe were Michelin. Overall, we might give it another shot, maybe it was a bad day...but still grateful to get in last minute due to rodeo season. Let me know your experience!

I took my wife here last year and she loved the place so much that she couldn't wait to come back. She literally called the restaurant "perfection" in her own Yelp Review. Of course, that meant we were going to make repeat trips here, even though with all the restaurants we have around Houston, I prefer to continue trying new venues. This year was a complete 180 from last year. They seemed to be either overbooked or understaffed, probably both. We were waiting a while for our table, but a trendy place during Houston Restaurant Weeks having delays isn't surprising, even if we had a reservation. The waiter apologized for the delay, saw we were looking at the HRW menu, and took all three course orders at once. We really thought that it would speed things up, but the exact opposite thing happened. It took well over 30 minutes to get our first course, which was the berries parfait. It's literally just yogurt, berries, granola, and honey in a bowl. Unlike last year, where the ingredients were carefully portioned, it seemed like this year they were all just hastily dumped into a bowl and brought out to the table. Regardless, it still tasted pretty good. About 50 minutes after we ordered, we asked the waiter about the status of our entrees. He let us know that the kitchen was behind. He sounded frustrated. We never saw him again; he completely disappeared and while we thought we saw him around, he never stopped by our table. We proceeded to see random people running items from the kitchen out to various tables. They weren't the waiters covering those tables. I'm not sure if they were kitchen staff, managers, dishwashers, or what. They all seemed frazzled and rushed. Of course, none of the food was coming to our table, but we clearly won't the only ones encountering delays and poor service. At about 70 minutes, and now no waiter, we gave up and went to the host table. We asked to cancel the rest of our order and offered to pay for what we'd already received. The host went to get a manager, but another lady came out letting us know that the manager was tied up facilitating in the kitchen and was trying to offer alternatives to us leaving. My wife was ready to leave, but I saw one of the random employees drop two plates at the table we'd abandoned. I suggested to her that it might be better to just finish our already-delayed meal rather than waste another hour going to another restaurant, ordering, and waiting for food. The lady at the front said she'd "take care of the bill." The food that was brought out was a disappointed. The duck confit was clearly rushed through the cooking process, but was still pretty good. The shrimp and grits were a complete miss, though. They clearly didn't have time to get the flavors they wanted, so they just dumped a bunch of garlic butter into the dish and called it a day. My wife couldn't finish her meal so we swapped entrees midway since the excess butter was making her miserable. The same lady (I'm guessing an assistant manager) kept offering us drinks. We made it clear we didn't want mimosas, so they started offering coffee. I don't think they were intending to come off pushy, but after a miserable 80+ minutes, it felt that way. Finally, we agreed to a couple of coffees with dessert just so they'd stop suggesting stuff and let us enjoy our food. The desserts were... okay. Just like the appetizers and entree, they seemed to be hastily assembled and lacking the flavors we'd expect. My wife seemed suitably happy with the Strawberries Melba for dessert, but my chocolate pot de creme was... bland. I've worked in hospitality before and I know that "I'll take care of the bill" means different things at different places, but this is the first time I've ever encountered-- as an employee or as a customer-- where that meant we were issued a bill for the full amount of the food we ordered, despite the fact that we nearly walked out due to the horrendous service. The only items that were "comped" were the coffees that we didn't even want. My wife had previously made it clear to me that she wanted to come back here regularly, so as we were walking back to our car, I suggested this was just an extreme off day and next time would be better. This time, she made it clear that she'd be okay if we never came back again. Honestly, I can't blame her. I'm leaving the second star on here because the first experience was so good. All I can say is that this place is no longer the amazing location that we experienced in 2024.

Arriving around lunchtime on a weekday, I had the place to myself which allowed me a unique opportunity to take the place in. That being said, this spot is not overly French cafe themed, but instead a classic suburban strip mall spot with nods to the French peppered throughout the menu and decor. The booth area is well-designed, the spot was clean and the table touched by light so after a great experience chatting with the cashier I was crossing my fingers, hoping the food matched the vibe. I had a crepe Mexicana (because who has ever heard of that?!), a croque monsieur with tomato soup, and a dessert crepe because y'all know I always save room for dessert. It took a minute to be prepared, but I'm willing to wait for a fresh made meal. Everything, was delicious. Crepe texture was on point, and each crepe was stuffed to the Gods. Positive experience all around. My tip: Order the tomato soup and finish your meal with the following combo- a dessert Crepe Almonds with strawberries. Trust me on that one!

The Parisian theme was noticeable..as was the reggaeton music they were curiously playing. Worth coming back to when in the area as the menu had a few other items I would definitely try.

Such a lovely restaurant, with two slightly different vibes depending on the day. Sundays are more lively with a live band, while Saturdays are a bit more relaxed--but still busy. I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. My only small note from my most recent visit was that it felt a little warm inside. I get it, it's Texas and it was a hot day, but I wouldn't have minded the AC being turned up a bit more . Now for the good stuff, food! I've tried a variety of items and have yet to be disappointed. Some standouts: French Toast (5/5): One of the best I've had. Thick slices, no eggy taste, and the crème anglaise with fresh berries are the perfect adds. Lobster Tacos (5/5): More like a lobster salad packed into crispy mini taco shells, the perfect little bites. Shrimp Tempura & Caviar 4/5: Tried this most recently and loved it. The batter had the perfect crunch. I also recommend the Rosé all day punch (not on the menu, but ask your server - it's a frozen berry ball with sparkling champagne and rosé) breakfast potatoes and sausage, salmon entrée, and even the french fries. The service has always been great. On my most recent visit, our server was especially awesome. They were very attentive, polite, and gave great recommendations (especially for mocktails). There are several options for parking including valet, street parking, and a garage. Valet runs around $6-$10, street parking is metered (I paid about $6 for two hours), and the garage was free and really easy the last time I went. Overall, this is a spot I'll keep coming back to and recommending again and again. Looking forward to trying even more of the menu next time!

Four basic drinks - Tito's & club soda - came to $97 before tip. Nothing about the experience justifies paying nearly $25 a drink. It certainly feels like Toulouse used the World Cup as an excuse to jack up prices, and if that's the case, it's a pretty shitty way to treat your regular customers. Houston locals are the people who kept this place busy long before the tourists arrived. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium experience. I do mind feeling like I'm being gouged. There are too many great bars and restaurants in Houston to justify coming back here.

The fried chicken was well balanced, good brine and a crispy delicate batter. The bread with butter and jam was also quite decent. And prices were not too jaw breaking for an upscale brunch experience. Would definitely come back again!

Seems to be a martini place but I had a Manhattan and really enjoyed it, it was a strong drink but very tasty. The kampachi crudo was very light but also flavorful with fun textures from the toppings. The mussels on bread were savory and buttery, really liked the addition of the large beans. The pappardelle with the wide noodles was so fun and there was lots of parm which I liked, and the lemon zest was a nice touch. The squash was soft and I loved the ricotta. The campanelle was really unique with the crawfish and the spicy sauce, the noodle shape was so fun. The cheeseburger is tiny but mighty, super juicy and cheesy. The fries were perfectly crispy. Mango sorbet was packed full of mango flavor! Really enjoyed this spot, can't believe it took me so long to get here. Probably best to get a reservation. Small parking lot available.
