These SANDWICHES ARE HUGE. It was during my birthday right before I was going to club and I decided to eat a sandwich to have something soak up the alcohol. My girlfriend and I stumble across this hole in the wall sandwich place and we decide to try it out. There were a variety of sandwiches but the one I chose was called the Kitchen Sink consisting of Seven Meats, Two Cheeses, Artichoke Hearts, Bistro Sauce on Dutch Crunch. After about a 20 minute wait, my sandwich had arrived and it was the size of my forearm, if not larger, in both length and height. I'm the type of guy that can eat a whole Kings cut of prime rib with the sides and salad, but it took 2 meals for me to finish this monster. I would recommend going here if you happen to be in the TL. I would like to go here more, but the location isn't that great. Maybe the next time that I go clubbing I'll stop by here. read more

Went here with my family to grab a bite to eat for lunch outside of the craziness of Union Square. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the delicious smell of rotisserie chicken. After experiencing that, I decided to go off the menu and order a chicken sandwich with lettuce, avocado, and a chipotle sauce on a french roll. Man, did this sandwich hit the spot. I felt a bit bad about having such a specific order, but I really enjoyed the flavor combination of the chicken with the spicy chipotle and the fresh avocado. The service here was alright and the food took about 20 minutes to come out, but everything is priced pretty reasonably and the food is of high quality. I got 2 sandwiches recently - vinny's bag of donuts (meatball), and gouda good. I couldn't remember if I'd had the meatball before, but once I got it, I realized I had - and THEN remembered that I don't recommend it. It's not *bad* but the meatballs are too compressed and golfball sized, which make the sandwich pretty lopsided. Meatballs seem to work well to me when they're cut in half - a sphere is a tricky thing between two pieces of bread. Anyway, more importantly, I just think their texture is off, although the sauce is pretty good. The gouda good was a lot more peppery than I expected, and I found that flavor to almost overwhelm the sandwich. The cheese was fine, but I didn't think it added all that much to the sandwich. It's my third night in the city and I'm leery of trying a new place for dinner only to get burned with bad food and a $30 bill. I walked into Bite after checking out their reviews and I'm so glad I did - the sandwich combinations were unique and so tasty! I got the Gouda Good- rotisserie chicken (freshly made on the premises), gouda, lettuce, tomato onion, pickle, and some kind of magical peppercorn sauce. The bread it comes on is called "Dutch crunch", and I must say, this bread takes the sandwich to a new level. The bill came out to $15 for the sandwich and a Snapple. Rating and review based on a half-dozen meals here. I like Bite, but I don't get the hype. I would never, never rate this 5 stars. It's more like 3.5. They roast their own chicken, but most of the other meats are just standard Boar's Head cold cuts. Bread is good, but not extraordinary. I always enjoy the meal they sell me, but it's a little expensive for the quality (in my opinion). I'm curving the review based on the fact that Zingermans charges $12 bucks for a sandwich, v.s. $8 or so at Bite. Millers over on Polk is pretty good, too. They're open late, the service is friendly, and the food is a convenient intersection of tasty, affordable and not-deep-fried, so I will return periodically. My family and I just stayed at a hotel nearby and were originally just going to go to Subway until one of the porters at The Beresford Arms Hotel highly recommend Bite. We are SO glad he did because their food is FANTASTIC! First off, the place is easy to find and everyone that works there is VERY SWEET. Took a few more minutes to make than I expected (about 10) but it's fresh so worth the wait. Lighter than Ike's, which is what this place most reminds me of. I would come back. OMG it always smells so good whenever I walk past the shop. They have great sandwiches and rotisserie chicken. You can either select one of their sandwiches or make one yourself by filling out a form. There are a few tables outside where you can people watch and enjoy your sandwiches or you can always walk to Union Square and enjoy your food there. They have a kids menu and their pb&j had slices of apples in it. They also have a fair amount of vegetarian sandwiches. We tried the Gobbler and Gouda Good. Both were delicious--I wanted to keep eating the Gouda though I was full. Sandwiches were nice sized, and the Dutch Crunch bread was awesome and unique. I saved half for the next day and it was still crunchy and just as good. I got a salad the first time, while my husband got the Gobbler, and I realized what a mistake I made after trying a bite of his. The salad was okay, had a ton of overpowering dressing and just didn't compare with the sandwiches. Also the wait was a little long both times. This is why I deducted one star. A big bonus is that they are open til 1:30 am, so you can satisfy your late night craving. Also, this is more of a take home/take out place--I think there were 2 small tables, but that is it. Paid $2 extra for the wimpiest one strip of bacon. $1.40 extra for avocado and there is seriously one tiny sliver of avocado. The rest of the sandwich is mediocre to just ok and you can tell the person making it doesn't care about making good good at all. I got the rotisserie chicken sandwich and it was tender and not chewy at all. My boyfriend got the seven meat layered sandwiched that was stacked!!! We couldn't even finish it. Pros: Fresh ingredients, with fresh toasted bread. Sandwiches are large and filling. Flavorful with every bite! They give you a lollipop for dessert! Cons: only two people working so it takes a little while for the sandwiches to be done. The Good: It's open late. The service is decent. There's outdoor seating. The Bad: The price definitely is not on par with the quality. While you're paying $15 for a sandwich + chips, you're really getting something you can make at home for a fraction of that price. You could go to Ike's place and get more bang for your buck.
