The place seemed very disorganized to me, and with SRO at the time o couldn't get a menu, then had no place to wait. I'm not knocking the place for that. Just annoying. Service was friendly, but they did seem really busy for a small place, so it took a while. Anyway, got my Southwestern sandwich and was less than impressed. My wife found this Cafe during a recent visit to San Francisco. Sutter St. Cafe was a block or so from our hotel. Cafe is in the bottom of an office building and is a hidden gem. Lady running the cafe is very friendly and efficient. My wife and I received our breakfast sandwiches very quickly and was very reasonable price wise. This was the only cafe in the area that I could find with gluten free bread which is what led me here. You enter through a parking garage on Sutter Street and follow the signs to a door which will lead you to a very small and cute cafe with a not so small menu. There were over a dozen sandwich options all which could be made with gluten free bread! They LOADED this sandwich with meat and sauce and that is truly my love language. I tried the pastrami salami combo sandwich and it was better than I expected. I wanted to go back the next day but sadly they are closed on the weekend. I've been coming to this building for doctors appt the last year and a half and today was my first time stopping for food. I'm so glad I did! It's a cute little cafe located on the first floor by the parking garage entrance. It's a little tight but perfect for a quick bite. The server was so friendly bummed I didn't get his name. The hash brown was cook to perfection- crispy and not soggy or oily. I got a regular coffee with half and half creamer and what I believe was the sutter st combo wrap. I added onion and chipotle mayo. Definitely hit the spot. Price was reasonable for the area. I would for sure come back and try one of their deli sandwiches. I remember when these small shops fed the Financial District. Every self-respecting office building had one, and they all verged on the miraculous, mom & pop proprietors working long hours, getting the coffee on well before 6am, serving breakfast and lunch, and generally closing around 3pm. The Sutter St. Cafe upholds this tradition, providing a surprisingly large menu of sandwiches and every inch of display space has enticing wares on display. The service is quick and to the point, the food comes out hot and well made. The ambiance is spartan but welcoming, a reminder that space in the FiDI is at a premium but designed for the people who make their living there. I visit my dentist in this building and the reward I get for getting my biannual checkup is a breakfast sando here, usually the #1. A classic example of a disappearing breed. read more

This place could be hard to find but what you need to know that it's located inside an office building. You walk in and it's pretty tiny but you can tell that there's something special about this place. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich to my liking and I thoroughly enjoyed my custom sandwich. It was prepared well and was very tasty. The only criticism I would have is that the amount protein in the sandwich could have been much more. We were searching for a restaurant that had more than three and a half stars and this is what we had finally settled on. We were not disappointed!! My boyfriend ordered the Niman Ranch Pulled Pork Sandwich. He said it had a great flavor and the bread had a nice crunch. The sandwich was a great size for the price. I ordered the Roast Beef Special Sandwich and it was amazing! I loved that it was warm and not hot. The flavor was amazing and the avocado made it so creamy. What friendly service! We came in for a quick bite and coffee while waiting to get a Rental car and they were So nice. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and then asked for a coffee also. Our server politely told me that breakfast sandwiches ordered before 11am come with a free hashbrown and coffee! So I wouldn't need to get an extra order (instead, we ended up with 2 coffees and 2 hashbrowns included). We also got a club sandwich which was a hit! I'm so glad I found this place while we were waiting for our car. It's this kind of mom-and-pop service and friendly customer care that anyone would love to have in a small deli like this. The food quality was fantastic as well. I loved it and would gladly go back anytime. PROS: exceptional and friendly customer service. great food! Food is 5 stars but I ordered online for the 1st time today and ordered through their website for a pickup and this is why I only give it a 3 star review. I went to pick up my order, a half black bean burger, and the owner/manager stated they didn't receive the order even though I got a confirmation. He also stated that they don't offer that burger in half size but on their website you can choose half or whole for $3.48 extra. But he said he would make a half size for me. They prepared it quickly but I questioned the price. I ended up paying $12.75 + $1.08 in tax for a total of $13.83 for just a half black bean burger and nothing else. On their menu at the deli, it shows the full black bean burger for $13.59 +tax. Basically paid the same price for a half as a whole sandwich just because I ordered it online. The owner stated that it's much cheaper to call in or order in person. He explained that there are higher prices because of the online ordering service like Grubhub,however, I specifically chose to order through the deli website because it didn't show any extra charge. I'm very disappointed how the deli handled this and upset that I paid full price for a half. I recommend eating their but NEVER order online! read more

Even with our directions we somehow managed to walk right past the entrance there's a small, black sign hanging from the wall at the garage entrance at the same address and right behind it is one of the entrances into the cafe. This was a great place to grab some brunch! They have many breakfast (& regular) sandwiches options as well as bakery goods, coffee/tea, and even boba! The staff was friendly and the food was prepared fast. Indoor dining remains closed, but Union Square is just a short walk and we were able to enjoy our sandwiches in the sunshine. read more

I discovered this gem of a spot because it's in the same building as my dentist. My favourite sandwich is the Angus Burger, and they use Neiman Ranch meats, so humanely sourced. I get their breakfast plates, too- it's a good value and freshly made. However my fav thing about this place(besides the awesome customer service?) There is this Gelato that is locally made, called Fiorelli's in individual servings that I love. It has interesting flavours, like Earl Gray Tea, and their Salted Caramel is TDF! This place is worth stopping by. They also have gourmet snacks for purchase, from around the world. Lots of interesting drink choices, including kombucha. If you are in the area, check it out. I was in the building for some work and parked in the garage next to the Cafe. As I was walking past there was this amazing smell of fresh coffee that just pulled me in. It's a super tiny place with friendly staff. I couldn't resist myself ordering a sandwich. I ordered a veggie black bean sandwich. I was primed to be disappointed and kicking myself to give in to my cravings. I couldn't have been wrong. So happy to be wrong. The sandwich was amazing, the black bean pattie was flavorful and quite moist. You know most black bean things are so dry that you need to gulp them down with water but not this one. The sandwich was simple and to the point. Flavorful and simple, just as it is meant to be. If a place like this opened up nearer to my home I would definitely eat more veggie stuff :) read more

After having past this little cafe for so many years while visiting my dentist in this building, I finally decided to get something to eat here yesterday before going to my dental appointment. I got myself a Diet Coke and a Cheese and Cherry Croissant for a quick snack, The lady at the counter was very friendly and asked me if I wanted my croissant to be heated. I noticed a lot of cute little Asian tea cups and kettles on some shelves. I really don't know if they were for decorations or for sale; I was too busy eating to ask. The café was very cramped, but cozy. I plan to come back here and to order one of their sandwiches the next time I see my dentist.
