Went to Bite for the first time this evening around 8pm, we live two blocks from the place. There were no other customers, It took them about 3 min before we were acknowledged. When we were acknowledged the woman simply said " what do you want." We placed our order and when she was done with our transaction she was extremely rude. She slammed the reciept and pen down for us to sign and practically tossed our copy on the counter. Did not even say thank you and she walked away. Maybe the meat is better, but I went with a vegetarian, we got veggie sandwiches, and they were okay but not even remotely decent for what we paid. We also got the German potato salad, and even though we were freaks getting veggie sandwiches at the deli, no mention was made of whatever meaty stuff was, in fact, in the potato salad. The bread was crunchy and chewy and the dug out some of the bread on the inside so it wasn't too much bread. I got the prosciutto with mozz and sun dried tomatos and it was delicious. I am a lover of sandwiches and this place is simply fantastical on so many levels. Came here last night after getting some drinks with friends. I love love LOVE spicy food so I ordered the firecracker on Dutch crunch. Amazing. Explosions of flavor in every bite. This place is open from 11am to 2am serving a variety of sandos and salads. I started coming here because of the rotisserie chicken and trying to be a bit healthy at 1am. Being in the service industry and City native I know this is hard to come by. Service here is straight forward. They are usually busy but I have gotten good service here all the times I have come here. I do not know what magic folks are expecting in the TL ( tendernob is a real estate name) but I know that Bite delivers magic when most places are closed or just have non caring students un gloved hands all on your food. They have grown people that give you hot well made sandwich 13 hours a day thats 5 stars to me! But I get the city and the folks that try everyday to give a little in a city where transplants expect so much but support businesses that give so little! Bite is my go-to place for speedy and consistently delicious sandwiches in my neighborhood; I eat there at least once or twice a week and get the same order virtually almost every time (the Treesitter). Many say it's the 'Ikes North of Market' and I'd have to agree - the delicious creations on the menu are on point. Pros: they throw in a ton of napkins and a free lollypop with the order, allow for custom substitutions, and are extremely speedy despite their small space. Plus, they're open till 2am! Cons: The only downfalls would be size, noise level, and sometimes they've messed up my order in the past (this hasn't happened in the last 6 months, though!). Also, they really need help with their website / web presence. I'm still a major Bite fan and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and delicious sandwich. read more

Best sandwich shop in SF. The quality of ingredients and the variety of sandwiches is what makes this the shop to beat. The late night availability puts it over the top. The chips they carry (Dirty Potato Chips) happen to be my personal favorite *hint, get the sour cream and onion.) One tip, the pork sandwich "Porky's revenge" isn't available a fair amount of time as they don't have pork some days so call ahead for that one. read more

Thought I would give this place another shot after I had a bad experience the last I ordered food from here. Which I hoped was an off time since I use to love this place. I greatly regret that decision. $30 in the trash. None of what we ordered was correct. I liked how my pastrami with everything except tomatoes was just pastrami, BBQ sauce and extra tomatoes. I've eaten here three of four times now and each time I go, I tell myself I'm going to order something new but I always end up ordering the Moshe Moshe. It's so delicious! Everything is so fresh and yummy! To make things even better, the owner (I'm assuming he's the owner) is so friendly and great- I always end up having ten minutes conversations with him while I wait for my sandwich to be made. One time he accidentally put cheese on my sandwich- when I told him it was no big deal, he insisted on making me a new one and giving both my finance and I a soda to drink while we waited. It's a bit expensive for a sandwich- usually around $20 for both my finance and I with a bag of chips (also so yummy...I must get the name of the brand) but it's worth it! As a person who really likes sandwiches....I found this place. Well alright. After carefully reading another review on here I decided one drunken Friday night to make a stop before the apartment to pick up a sandwich or two. I preface this paragraph by mentioning I either did not see a sign that says "bite" from the road or I was too drunk to see it. What I DID see was a gigantic menu with sandwiches on it and a few people waiting in the foyer. I order the Kookooroo, on the special Dutch bread because there's no asterisk. I start my journey back and by the time I get home I am famished. I try to eat the dry chicken covered in pesto and because I'm so hungry I scarf it down without much notice. The bread is so thick I barely taste the rest of the sandwich and need a giant glass of water to get it down. I'm not saying the sandwich is bad, it's just not the best I've had. A million times better than similar shops like Ike's and more reasonably priced as well. It does take a little bit of time for them to make your sandwich, but it's only because they make it fresh and there's usually a line. Also, sandwiches are huge and can easily be split or used to put someone in a deep food coma. My favorites are the Branding Iron and Mama Mia but my roommate swears by the Gouda Good. While I've never done it, their whole chicken prices look super reasonable. Also a fan that they're open late! read more

I have DREAMS about this place!!!! The place is inviting because the wonderful people that work there are helpful and one i always run into is always smiling! The chicken isn't shredded chopped up chicken, but if you are from the Midwest and had Panera Bread's Chicken Cesar Sandwich before, the texture of the chicken is almost comparable to that of Bites. soooooooooooooo GOOOD. The portion of the sandwich is huge! and a side order of fries is $1 with a sandwich, good deal.. This is definitely the quintessential hole in the wall amazing find restaurant. The most guys I've ever seen behind the counter is three, and the whole place is probably about the size of a small studio apartment. But they're food is AMAZING!! Literally the best sandwich shop I've found in this city. Also they are reasonably priced, so you aren't breaking the bank for quality. My personal recommendation would be the Love Affair (a very appropriate name given how delicious it is!) it sounds like an exaggeration, I know, but I legitimately don't remember the last time I had a sandwich that good. They're known for the sandwiches but I can't comment on that since I don't eat bread often. Cobb Salad (3.5/5) - A middle of the road Cobb salad in terms of quality. It sticks the script of romaine, a few avocado slices, So fresh and moist chicken pulled from the rotisserie chicken! I don't eat a lot of pork these days, but I am a sucker for bacon as a seasoning or side. The bacon was limp, chewy fat without flavor, ended up taking a bite and discarding the rest. Rotisserie Chicken (4/5) - Meat was tender and very juicy. Highlight was the skin on it was amazing - crisp, char, and herb seasoning. On the salty side but good. Totally reasonable prices, open late, would definitely order again. read more

This is my go to place for a hot sandwich. I have a secret love affair with this place. Everything is fresh and made to order, so it can take a bit to get your sandwich. There are plenty of choices and a make your own option. Their portions are huge, although it can be good for 2 meals but why save it when its so delicious that all you want to do is inhale your meal. The Gouda Good could become a national sandwich ;] My only criticism is that the German potato salad they offered when they first opened is no more. After a while they switched to a mayo-based potato salad which was still good and I ate it all the time, but recently they changed it again. This time it is mixed with the same dressing as traditional macaroni salad. It's that tangy, but sweet dressing. And I think it's a mistake. I ordered it once and threw it away. I've tried just about everything on the menu here. I love the leafy gallina, and the porky's revenge sandwich with sour cream instead of bbq sauce. The options are abundant, I mean there is something for everyone here. The ingredients are fresh and super tasty.
