I walk past this place all the time and decided to stop by here after getting some coffee. I'm a sausage egg and cheese kind of girl so of course that's what I got and I was recommended on an English muffin which I was surprised it was a decent size. With tax and tip I think I paid $11 something. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely be coming back! read more

I came here before getting a haircut and got the beef Bourguignon sandwich. It was massive, and a very high quality sandwich (especially given the price). They put it on a panini press, so it rendered the French roll crisp and thin, a perfect envelope for the braised beef within. The beef itself had been well braised and was tender, with the occasional mushroom and carrot as well. I could taste the subtle flavors of whatever wine they used: it was good! I also like how the sandwich is kind of banh mi adjacent: the pickled carrots have a nice texture and acidity to contrast the beef. And as I said, it was massive! Probably could have been two lunches, at a pretty reasonable price (I think it was $16)! read more

A small shop in fidi. Not much seating but there are some standing counter space inside, definitely more of a pick up and take back to office situation. Thought it looked interesting and warranted checking out. My friend got one of their specialty sandwiches and I got one of their deli ones. The specialty sandwiches are the way to go. The beef bourgignuon had a good portion of meat, was tender and flavorful. The onions went well with it. The other toppings were nice but could have been spread out a bit better over the sandwich. It is one you have to eat soon after you get it as the juicy meat can lead to the bread getting a little soggy. My friend ate it in one sitting and was quite satisfied. I got the pastrami deli sandwich. I should have asked if I could get it warm as it was a cold one. It was a decent sandwich, if I were to do it again I'd get extra meat for sure. I'd swing by to check out either the beef or pork sandwich or maybe their breakfast sandwiches seemed decently well priced. read more

I feel disappointed. I was expecting so much more having seen their reviews. Sandwich was tightly packed and it felt like the bread was nicely toasted. After a couple bites, I could only taste the beef bourginon. Was hoping the shredded carrots could add a little texture to each bite, but I could hardly taste or see them. Didn't know what the KP sauce was. Again, all I could taste was the beef and its juices. Too meaty for me. The bread wasn't as toasted as I'd like and quickly became soggy. I'd pass on this and just got back to Gambino's nearby. read more

*Note: TDLR at the end of the review 16 Herbs Marinated Pork: 9/10 It almost hits all the marks! The pork isn't overwhelmingly seasoned, the caramelized onions adds a nice savoriness to it, the carrots add a slight natural sweetness, and the jalapeños give a vinegary very slight spiciness. I think if they add some sort of freshness to it, it would be a 10/10. Maybe some tomatoes and/or some arugula. LOVE how the baguette is flat. Makes it so easy to eat. It was $8. Great marinated chicken sandwich and at a reasonable price of $8 (promotional pricing). I was walking to another sandwich place and decided "why not try this one?" so I did! The crispy bread held up to the juices from the chicken and maintained its crunch. The jalapeños added a different dimension to the sandwich as well. This is a two person operation - one to make the food and one to take orders. The storefront is small so the setup works well. Quick grab and go sandwich spot with 2 tables out on the street. They made my sandwich fast and it was hot. I got their beef bourguignon sandwich off their "speciality sandwiches" menu. It was piping hot with grilled onions, grated carrots and cheese melted inside with their special KP49 sauce and pressed. Not sure what else to expect but it was definitely like eating beef bourgingnon in a bite. It was earthy and deeply flavored. Super juicy and easy to eat without making a mess. SO TASTY!! This small eatery tucked away behind maiden lane in union square deserves 10/5 stars. Came in for the promotional pricing marinated chicken sandwich. BLEW. MY. MIND. Served pressed like a panini or Cubano, this juicy sandwich had delicious hot warm stewed chicken with coconut milk, paired with the most perfect house pickled slaw. Snagged a bag of chips and water from their bev fridge, which had the usual suspects of drinks. Service was super friendly and quick! Will absolutely be back to try their other flavors. The 16 herb marinated pork sandwich absolutely exceeded all of my expectations. The pork was so juicy and tender and the flavors just exploded in my mouth. Best sandwich shop in finance district. Toasted Bread Packed tightly Good Variety of Meats Good Prices Got the pastrami sandwich and added 2 eggs to it. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

We always miss the taste of touring San Francisco. One of the things we enjoy the most is discovering new places, new restaurants that can add a special taste to our visit to the city. We had an amazing experience at KP49! The service was warm, friendly, and welcoming from start to finish. The highlight of our visit was their phenomenal Beef Bourguignon sandwich, perfectly tender, rich in flavor, and absolutely unforgettable. The ingredients are top-quality, healthy and fresh. It's located in the Embarcadero Center at Embarcadero 1 and it's Devils Teeth / Green Apple Bookstore. In an Embarcadero stroll I landed at Embarcadero 1 at Devils Teeth. I have tried the other two Devils Teeth stores in the Outer Richmond and the other at the Sunset Strip of San Francisco and they are legit. This store really is my favorite one now because they added my favorite bookstore Green Apple. Inside they serve the coffee and breakfast sandwiches along their known flakey pastries like some in SF. I got the breakfast sandwich from other bacon and egg on a biscuit . This combination of savory and buttery was my jam. I then I washed it down with an ice mocha which was not too sweet and the combination hit the spot. The Green Apple bookstore inside has a very good curated collection which has the right amount of books about food and the human experience. This is definitely the spot everyday of the week for breakfast and lunch . Go on a Sunday because they have $1 beignets because you cannot get anything good in San Francisco for $1 these days.
