Beef bourginon sandwich
Rick T.

I feel disappointed. I was expecting so much more having seen their reviews. Sandwich was tightly packed and it felt like the bread was nicely toasted. After a couple bites, I could only taste the beef bourginon. Was hoping the shredded carrots could add a little texture to each bite, but I could hardly taste or see them. Didn't know what the KP sauce was. Again, all I could taste was the beef and its juices. Too meaty for me. The bread wasn't as toasted as I'd like and quickly became soggy. I'd pass on this and just got back to Gambino's nearby.

16 Herbs Marinated Pork Sandwich

Ordered the pork specialty sandwich and it did not disappoint. Next time I'll get a breakfast sandwich or one on Dutch Crunch. The sandwich is a decent size and very juicy. Great service. Not a sit down place.

Turkey Sandwich on a French roll, cheddar cheese, veggies and pesto

Not only are the sandwiches super tasty, the gentlemen that work here are amazing! They are really friendly and welcoming! They give you good quality service and yummy food! I work in the area and eat here at least once a week! Love this place!

*Note: TDLR at the end of the review 16 Herbs Marinated Pork: 9/10 It almost hits all the marks! The pork isn't overwhelmingly seasoned, the caramelized onions adds a nice savoriness to it, the carrots add a slight natural sweetness, and the jalapeños give a vinegary very slight spiciness. I think if they add some sort of freshness to it, it would be a 10/10. Maybe some tomatoes and/or some arugula. LOVE how the baguette is flat. Makes it so easy to eat. It was $8. Super super affordable. Service: 10/10 The cashier was super kind and always had a smile on his face. I asked him if he prefers the chicken or pork and he said the pork. So I gotta get the pork yk? The wait time for the sandwich was maybe about 10 minutes or so. Ambiance: 8/10 It's a small joint. I ate inside standing up and honestly was the vibe, but it could definitely not be the vibe if there was hella people inside. There's two tables outside, but it is in the sun. The inside was clean and there was music playing a good level. A few outlets if you need a quick phone charge. TDLR: Sandwiches are good and affordable. Don't expect a sit down joint. Super small inside. It's more of a grab and go. Line goes fast. A couple outlets there if you need a quick charge.

Beef Bourguignon Sandwich (half pictured)

Quick grab and go sandwich spot with 2 tables out on the street. They made my sandwich fast and it was hot. I got their beef bourguignon sandwich off their "speciality sandwiches" menu. It was piping hot with grilled onions, grated carrots and cheese melted inside with their special KP49 sauce and pressed. Not sure what else to expect but it was definitely like eating beef bourgingnon in a bite. It was earthy and deeply flavored. Super juicy and easy to eat without making a mess. The shredded beef was flavorful but could be a bit more tender. They also carry bakery items, regular deli sandos, and mini tiramisus for $3.99. Steal! Miss having little delis like this around DTSF.

Bacon egg cheese sandwich

Bacon egg and cheese sandwich uses Dry bagel with too much American cheese, egg and bacon were okay, but in general was hard to swallow. Their iced vanilla latte was also very burnt tasting. Service was alright. Place is very cramped. Shame

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

Usual go-to: Mango Sticky Rice Crepe FOOD: 8/10 Everything I've tried throughout multiple visits is pretty good overall. I really appreciate that their portions don't feel too heavy, so it's a nice place if you want dessert but don't want to feel overwhelmed afterward. The line went pretty fast on a Wednesday evening, but I can't imagine what it's like on a weekend. There's a bit of seating inside to enjoy your ice cream. They let you try three flavors, and I tried two, and both were so good I just decided on the spot. My first sample was the Salty Kaya. WOW. Heaven in my mouth. A burst of coconut and the saltiness that paired so well together. There's a reason this flavor has a permanent spot on the menu and isn't just a seasonal flavor! My second choice was the Funky Miso. I guess I love the sweet and savory combo. Also delicious! But not quite the flavor explosion in my mouth like the Salty Kaya. This one really grew on me after several spoonfuls of it. I really like that the single scoop allows you to get two flavors. How can I decide on just one when they have so many fun flavors?? I love this spot and will absolutely be returning. Their flavors are creative without feeling gimmicky, and everything I've tried has been yummy. They let you sample up to 3 flavors, which definitely helps when you're trying to decide between all the seasonal options. There's usually a pretty long line but it moves fast so I've never felt like I was waiting too long. The staff is always friendly, and the whole experience is worth it.
