In town for my and my daughter's birthday's and of course balloons. We decided to do birthday cake at the last minute and were in desperate need of gluten free! Google and found bittersweet. For $58 (kinda high in my book but worth it with 1 bite!) we picked up 6 gluten free, 8 regular (all different flavors), a 3 pk of GIANT (and amazing) sugar cookies as well as homemade marshmellows for the birthday girl. It's a Small shop and mainly only sell Cupcakes, cookies and THE MOAST DECADENT Sinfully Rich Chocolate Cream cheese Bars that are HUGE for the typical walk in Customers. They have marshmallows and handmade doggie treats too. But there cupcakes selection is amazing. They don't have the same cupcakes every single day. The other day they had s'mores cupcake (Chocolate Cake, whipped marshmallow cream cheese frosting, dusting if toasted Graham crunches and a cute toasted marshmallow and chocolate curl) their cupcakes are almost too beautiful to eat and they taste even better. They have your typical red velvet, birthday cake, lemon ,strawberry, cherry.. but they're s'mores and key lime pie and the ones they create out of their minds are just amazing. Between the wonderful customer service and the fact that they remembered my name on my second visit, the wonderful desserts and I'd say pretty fair pricing for the amazing treats they provide.. I definitely would give this a five-star probably 10 if I could. I had a few of their wedding cakes for events that I've catered it's not your typical dry wedding cake that just looks beautiful on the outside ..it's actually stunning and delicious on the inside as well.. We moved here from the North Dallas area and love Sprinkles cupcakes, yes-they are that good! We've been here for a few years and BitterSweets red velvet cupcakes are good substitute when craving a Sprinkles red velvet cupcake. We also enjoy the cute flavor themed cupcakes. The cupcakes were delicious, no doubt! Very rich and sweet, beautifully presented, many great and unique flavors to choose from. Were these delicious cupcakes worth $34 (inc tax) for the dozen? Well, it's one of the silliest things I've done in a while, and I likely won't do it again soon. Besides the unique flavors, and general yumminess, they are your typical small cupcakes, nothing stand-out about the size or value that makes the price worth purchasing often, for me and my budget anyhow. For the outrageous cost, I wouldn't mind buying them maybe once a year for a very special occasion. I purchased 24 chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day. I paid $51.46. I ordered them a week in advance. The staff was very polite but I was truly ripped off. The majority of the strawberries were only an inch long. I usually do business with berries.com or drive across town to ABC bakery. Even Smiths around the corner had huge chocolate covered strawberries for half the price. I don't mind paying, but the business needs to care about its product. Wow, what an amazing place! I placed an order for 204 mini cupcakes for my sister's wedding! We ordered several different flavors and asked them to make the cupcakes match the wedding colors. I was treated so nicely when ordering the cupcakes and treated with such respect. Manny delivered the cupcakes for the wedding and was awesome! He stayed and meticulously set up the cupcakes and was so professional. The cupcakes were absolutely delicious and on top of that beautifully decorated. Everyone commented on the cupcakes wondering where they were from. I will definitely use this bakery again! The only problem for me was the location, because I live in the East mountains. We ordered a cake the day before we needed it. My daughter ordered it for us. She was told that the cake would easily feed at least 8 people. Well, it would have if everyone got a sliver and a promise. She was charged $37.00. When my daughter brought the cake home, I called the owner and told her that there must have been a mistake because the cake looked more like cupcake size or at the very least only 4". She wasn't too happy but she gave my daughter a $30.00 refund and charged her $7.00 for the ingredients she used. Apparently they had a $30.00 markup! They need to explain their prices properly before they bake and charge. We were very disappointed, needless to say. It seems that everyone wants to get rich off of everyone else, it seems. It all comes down to poor customer service. BitterSweets is living up to the "bitter" part at least. For years, this has been my go-to bakery for important events, and they delivered beautiful, intricately decorated cakes. That was before the business traded hands sometime in the recent past. Twice in the last six months I have been let down by the staff's inability to follow instructions. My mother ordered a cake for her golden anniversary, picking out a design from one of the cakes they already had on display, a gorgeous single tier decorated with cascading lilies and an elegant ribbon. When I went to pick up the order, I was presented with a plain white cake with a random flower shoved in the top. When I complained that this wasn't what was ordered at all, I was met with a shrug of indifference and an offer to maybe shove another flower in top of the cake and call it good. I emailed the owner to express my dismay and she offered a 10% discount on my next order. It was possibly the best $85 ultra-minimalist white cylinder of cake ever made, but it was an $85 WHITE CYLINDER. OK, fine. Whatever. She wanted to give me a discount to make it up, so I placed an order for my daughter's birthday cake. I came prepared with example photos and sketches, and yet there was still another "miscommunication." The cake was nothing like what was discussed. The order showed that most of the printed out examples had been tossed. The owner stonewalled when I asked to speak to her. She wasn't going to own up to making another mistake. When she finally did admit there was "probably" another miscommunication, she didn't feel moved to apologize or offer any form of restitution. Even just an apology to my daughter would have been something, but there was precisely ziltch. Yeah, in the grand scheme, it's just cake, but it's cake that I won't be purchasing in the future. If you are planning an event and need something more elaborate than a Costco sheetcake, I'd advise you to keep on moving. You'll only find heartache here. read more

The owner has been in the pastry business for decades - in ABQ and in numerous high-end bakeries around the U.S. She's a true certified professional pastry chef. She knows her recipes inside and out, and can make minute changes to the recipes to perfect the result. I guarantee she bakes everything from scratch daily using butter, cream, sour cream, buttermilk, fresh eggs, fresh fruit, cream cheese, etc. Bittersweets Bakery never sells day-old products, but instead donates unsold items to a local charity daily. I called on the 11th for a birthday cake for the 27th. I was told they were booked for the 27th. 16 days ahead of time and they can't do a kids birthday cake. This would have been my first order from them, but I guess they don't need or want my business or my family and friends business. I posted on their Facebook page and not one response from them.
