Intro: Man, I was so underwhelmed by this BJ's that it's almost impressive. BJ's used to be my favorite chain restaurant thanks to it's solid offerings and mouth watering pizookie dessert, but my, how the mighty have fallen. Service: Normally, I start with the food review, but the service was so bad that I have to start here. This place is poorly managed and you can tell that the staff is concerned with everything else except providing a quality dining experience. Their main priority seems to be goofing off and talking and flirting with one another. Our waitress was cordial, but she did a horrible job of waiting our table. She could barely remember our orders. Any special requests such as additional sauce, a drink, or the check had to be asked more than once. Everything took a long time and some of the separate checks had the wrong orders on them. Food: The food is actually neck and neck for being as horrible as the service. I will admit that the wings were very good. Everything else was trash! The chips with spinach and artichoke dip was mid. For entree, I asked the waitress what her favorite dish was and she recommended the cheesesteak sandwich. That cheese steak sandwich had to be the worst one I've ever had in my life. I'm actually questioning if she recommended the most horrible thing on the menu just to troll me. The meat was extremely overcooked. Seems like it had been microwaved too long and someone just threw some cheese on it. The bread was okay, but the sandwich overall was extremely dry. No mayo no mustard no onions no tomato. Nothing! I finished the sandwich because I paid for it, but it almost felt like I was on man versus food. I couldn't eat the sandwich with both parts of the bread because it was so dry so I only ate half the bread with the meat. Another friend got an ahi tuna dish that was bad. Another friend got tacos that came out cold. Conclusion: My only recommendation for this place is maybe getting a wing order to go. However, I suggest just getting your wings from a place that actually cares, or at least pretends to care, about you. read more

The service is at best, horrible. This was our second time here. The first was a football Sunday and it was crowded. It took almost 20 minutes to get a waitress to our table, then another 15 to get our drink order. The food was decent, but again took long time to get. You would think they would be quick to give you the bill. Not here. So, after a discussion given the past experience and circumstances, we tried again tonight. We understand staffing shortages, but cmon. We also get that its a brewery, but out of Miller Light tonight. It took the waitress 10 minutes to come back and tell us they were out. I've been to 4 separate BJ's restaurants in the past 2 week from MD to NC. Unfortunately this restaurant is not up to par from when you enter to the service. It took 5 minutes to even be greeted, ok maybe they were a little busy but someone should be greeting people when they arrive. It took 8 minutes to have someone come to the table. We ordered 2 appetizers (avacodo rolls and nachos with chicken), which were very good. For the meal we ordered 2 prime rib dips which didn't have much meat on the sandwiches compared to the other 3 BJ's restaurants. We ordered the brownie dessert (which we had ordered at all locations. the other locations could have served 4 people... this location it was for a single person and they didn't even have any toppings for it. so it was a brownie with ice cream, not worth the money. Unfortunately...and although they are nice...these waitresses are untrained and they do not have a clue and it shows. Sadly, it impacts the quality of the dining experience. You can tell the manager guy doesn't care either. It makes you frustrated and annoyed. The waiter didn't even know what sides they have. Several waitresses went outside and came back in, one waiter went to a few tables and nothing. Us and three other tables all walked out together. That is the second time that has happened to me at this restaurant, at least the first time it was ten minutes and we flagged a server down, who proceeded with the "I'm sorry I'll take care of you even though this isn't my table.." why even say that, just apologize and keep it moving. Had friends from out of town visiting. Wanted a place that I could trust with tons of menu items. To start we arrived at 11:30 am. Only two other tables. We ordered drinks which took close to 15 minutes to get. That should have been a warning sign. We ordered our food and within minutes a soup and salad were delivered to one person. No explanation, it wasn't for a long length of time for the other entrees to be delivered. Of course cold not even warm. Waiter never asked if the entrees were ok or ask if we needed another drink. This is my third time coming to BJ's Brewhouse all different locations. The Food is good, the service not so much. We got a variety of things to eat, we ordered the Peachberry Tea, it was too sweet, taste like they put a cup of Sugar in each glass. My Son got a Orange Creamsicle Drink and that wasn't sweet enough. Our Waitress Krystal M. was nice but not attentive. She took forever to refill our drinks. I think she had more Tables than she could manage. I don't entirely blame her, the Manager was bringing out Food to tables so I think they were short Staffed, even though the dining room wasn't filled up. This place is a mess. Entered at 3:45 on Sunday 11-3-24. Made a left to the bar side to find a seat. There were countless seats to pick from. Only a hand full of patrons there. But each and every single vacant seat had dirty plates and glasses from previous guests. And Mr. Bartender was staring at the phone in his had and the tv screen watching football. After standing there patiently and being ignored by him, I thought to myself I would be a fool to sit in this mess that looked like a landfill, and be served by someone who is only interested in his own cell phone and his football game. TLDR -- Visited with a large party and was quoted a 30+ minute wait. Waited an hour+, and they had a clean table but refused to seat us. After wasting 90 minutes, we took our business elsewhere. Details below... Don't bother with this place. We sure won't again. Our visit on 12/17/23 will be the last time we ever try to eat at BJ's in Bowie. In the past when we have gone, the food is always hit or miss and the service is highly lacking. However, we had some family visiting that picked BJ's out of all of the nearby restaurants, and they really wanted to try it out. We arrived around 3:00 pm and put our names on the list. Host (same guy we've usually seen at the host's stand, who is never friendly or smiles) says the wait will be 30+ minutes. Okay, fine. Family is willing to wait. There are 12 of us total -- 8 adults, 4 kids. We wait around in the lobby. As the time passes, we never get updates unless we approach the host and ask for them ourselves. 30 minutes pass... 45 minutes pass... Nearing an hour... Eventually, another large party gets up to leave, and we are told that will be our table once it is cleaned. The host goes over and cleans this large table by himself. He moves slower than molasses, and takes forever preparing the table (I don't understand why no one was helping him). Here's the kicker -- when the table is finally cleaned, we still aren't seated! When we ask the host what's going on (because he still isn't giving us updates) he says he needs to ask his manager if it's okay to seat us. Excuse me? That makes no sense. At this point we have been waiting over an hour (double the quoted wait time) and are hungry and frustrated. Host says they need to take the orders of another large party before they can seat us, because they don't want to "crash the kitchen" with too many orders. We ask to simply sit at the table, with the understanding that they won't get to us for a bit, because we wanted to get out of the lobby. It would have been nice to just sit at the table and let the kids sit in high chairs and color, while we chatted and waited. Host asks the manager if we can simply just sit down. Manager apparently says no. As we near the 90 minute waiting mark, we ask to speak to the manager directly. The manager (I don't remember his name) comes to speak to us. He is less than apologetic or empathetic to our wait time, which we stress was wildly mis-quoted. He reiterates the whole "crashing the kitchen" speech and says we can't just sit at the table. He says he will seat us in the next 10 minutes, but we aren't buying it. After waiting 90 minutes, we went to another restaurant that was arguably just as busy as BJ's was (I saw a handful of large parties). We were sat immediately and received wonderful service there. If we had just been quoted an accurate wait time, we could've decided to leave BJ's sooner. I can understand that wait time is an estimate, but being quoted 30+ minutes and waiting 3 times that long (90 min) without ever being seated is ridiculous. If the wait was going to be longer than originally quoted, we should have been given periodic updates to reset expectations. Horrible experience and waste of time. read more

Love this restaurant! Christopher was such a great server and was super attentive. He gave great recommendations and answered all our questions about the menu. I would recommend the BJ's brewhouse bowl w/ chicken but it is kind of a lot of food. Tastes great though! The brussel sprouts are amazing as well great flavor. My boyfriend had the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and he enjoyed it as well. Coleslaw wasn't the best and I usually like coleslaw. Pizookie was amazing of course!! Ambiance is similar to any restaurant of this variety, good music. Overall, 9/10 will come back :). read more

Went to this location this weekend. We were given a wait time of 20 minutes. We were seated some 1 hour and 10 minutes later. They were really busy and seem to be short on servers. Without getting into all the details, suffice it to say that the service was poor. It took a while for our server to even take our order. Then we really never saw them again. No refills or even a check to see if all was good. It was hard to get the check at the end. And it wasn't just us, several other patrons were complaining. The only good thing that happened was a discounted check possible due to our frustration! Don't think we'll be visiting there again any time soon read more

We showed up for my 12:30 PM reservation at 12:20. The man at the front of the restaurant seated us. I happened to check my phone and saw an e-mail from OpenTable stating the restaurant had cancelled my reservation. I returned to the front of the restaurant and asked why this had happened. The man said he accidentally cancelled my reservation. I said I wanted to earn points for my reservation, and he was not at all helpful in rectifying his error. We ordered the seared ahi salad and the bacon guacamole deluxe. Our food was delicious, but it took TWENTY MINUTES to arrive. The restaurant was not crowded when we ordered. We had planned to order dessert but decided not to because we didn't want to wait an extended amount for our food. Not planning on returning to this location. I have eaten at other BJ's locations and was treated much better than I was today at the Bowie location. There are so many other restaurants to choose from at the Bowie Town Center. read more

I visited BJ's in Bowie for dinner on October 19th with a party of seven. While our wait time was longer than quoted the restaurant was very busy, so the longer wait time was understandable. But we did notice it took a long time for the empty tables to be cleaned. It is possibly they may have been understaffed this evening. Once seated, our waitress was very friendly and promptly took our order. Unfortunately as we received our food very slowly throughout the night most of it was undercooked, for example the pork chops were pink inside and the fettuccine alfredo was lukewarm at best. Our group also ordered some pizookies, unfortunately all were overcooked, but we still enjoyed them. At the end of our meal, as we were waiting for the check with leftovers packed, an employee came out with a side salad, we said it wasn't ours. They responded by throwing the salad down and yelling in frustration, startling both us and the tables around us. We then realized it may have been a side salad for one of the meals we had never received earlier. We then proceeded to wait an additional 30 minutes for our bill. I didn't receive the order till 30min after the pickup time and everything was cold. Managers hid from us. Employees looked at us but very few offered to help. And the order was wrong. What a nice addition to BTC this restaurant is! I stopped by with a friend on Wednesday around 5 to check the place out and I am really glad I did. We were greeted immediately by the host and directed to the bar area. The bar section has a long bartop with about 15 bar chairs as well as 10 or so high top tables. We were able to grab two bar spots immediately, but by 6pm the whole bar was packed. We were greeted immediately by 2 different bartenders -- love the friendly service! They made us rum and cokes which were a part of the $5 happy hour 3pm - 7pm special. I did notice that the drinks made by the bartender weren't consistent. One round would be strong and punch you in the throat while the next round was weaker and more like juice. One round came with a lime...while the next round didn't. Maybe those kinks will get ironed out in the weeks to come. The food is solid! We ordered a $6 happy hour burger and fries as well as a cookies and cream pazookie. I really enjoyed the burger and crispy fries but the dessert was the star of the show. The have a whole menu page dedicated to their delicious pazookies! Definitely do yourself a favor and order one! While ordering food from the bar, we did notice another area of improvement -- food came out from the back for folks at the bar and the waitstaff didn't seem to have any idea who the food was supposed to go to. The waitstaff walked up and down the bar line asking each patron if this was their order. Any dishonest bar goer could have had several free plates just by saying 'yup, thats mine'. Help the waitstaff out and develop a better system to find the foods proper owner please! All in all, a great evening. Loved the environment and the buzz of the place. Nice lunch today with my handsome boyfriend. Great suggestion because I haven't been here since I was in Houston I think; it's been a long time. The building is very cool; it used to be an old car dealership; it still has the garage doors and everything. I love that! The menu is very extensive (pages and pages) and so much to choose from. I loved that as well. All the options get complicated sometimes lol. I like that the menus have the calorie counts. I decided to be good and go with the Honey Crisp Salad and my babe got the ribs. My salad was great! I asked for extra honey mustard dressing but didn't need it at all. It's perfectly tossed with the right amount of dressing. The chicken was very crispy and seasoned perfectly. No complaints from me ... well the red onion in the salad was a little strong (it shouldn't be). The ribs looked amazingly good and he had no complaints at all (he didn't even ask if I wanted to try one!) so they must have been delicious lol. They have a full bar, lots of wine, liquor, handcrafted beer and mixed drink selections. We stuck to soda for this meal but will definitely try drinks if we visit again. The desserts looked amazing but we refrained from getting any. Next time though. Overall, I give it 4 stars. The reason they didn't get 5 is because as big and beautiful as their bar is, they have a lot of "entry level" alcohol like the cheap gin and vodka on display. If they take the Bombay Sapphire, the Tanquery gin, Absolute and anything else entry level off display it's totally getting 5 stars from me! Nothing wrong with having it in stock and on hand but not on display. There are so many more mid level choices that could be easily displayed. Also, being a bourbon and whiskey drinker, there could be a few more selections added in that area. Will I come back? Absolutely!
