Recently went into BJs off New Haven. By far the best service I had. My server was Shanna. Such a breath of fresh air. She was funny and fun and a beautiful young lady she knew the menu effortlessly offered the best beers. She was great my kids loved her. And at one point she was helping another young lady with her baby so she could also enjoy her meal. I never liked going into BJs the other servers always look like they were in bad moods. But not Shanna she's great they need to hire more like her. At one point we didn't even care about the food we were just having a great time with her. Even all her other tables were definitely getting the same great service as we were. The place would be more enjoying to be there if she was everyone's server. I hadn't been to a BJs in a while until tonight. Always thought it was pretty good. Everything was good (server, atmosphere, time intervals) besides most of the food we ordered. We got Garlic Parmesan bone in wings(3/10, needed to be cooked more, not much flavor) prime rib dip (3/10, not much flavor, would rather have arbys) Bloody Mary and Margarita 5/10, small deep dish pizza 8/10, and a pizookie 9/10. Will not come back here. 0 for 2, been here twice, both times my order was messed up. They didn't have baked potatoes, fine, got mashed instead. When the food arrived i was missing a side. Came here for lunch, because my daughter was looking forward to her poozkie.. what bad service and the kitchen was off. We ordered and one meal came for 5 people, the rest of us waited, she finished her soup and salad and our meals finally appeared, not that it was a hard order, bbq salad and hamburgers... go figure why it would take so long. We get the hamburgers and they are cold, as well as the fries. We send back and we are still waiting for the remake hamburgers to come out.. had to ask for a manager.. I work in the industry and I would never have my customers wait and serve them one at a time.. this is so bad.. came From Ohio and decided to finally try this restaurant after always seeing it at home and I'm so glad we did. Our waitress Alicia was AMAZING. The most friendliest and funniest person I've met while out to eat. She always checked on us and made us feel so welcomed, really going to miss that when i go home. Stopped in on a Monday at 6pm until about 8pm. Sat at the bar. The bartender had no personality. She was like a robot. Just doing her job. I was aware of happy hour beer prices and asked her to ring me up for another beer just before 7pm (when happy hour ends). She did that but then when I finished my drink, I said yea to another and I reminded her she already rung me up for one. But, she charged me for an additional beer at $6.50. I realized this and told her I had already paid for the beer and then she said she'll fix it. But she just reduced it from $6.50 to $4. Instead of arguing with her about how many I had, I just gave her a lesser tip than normal. Being nice to customers goes a long way. This young lady needs some help and has room for improvement. She did not once smile at me or any other patron that I can see. She did not engage in any type of conversation beyond just being a robot and doing the bare minimum of doing her job. I normally will tip very well, but only when deserved. I was disappointed with the service I received from this bartender and if I see her at bar next time I go, I will not patronize. Amazing service and fantastic food! Came here for BJ brews on Wednesday for $4 amazing. I recommend the BJs Hefeweizen which is smooth and light. I had the spicy peanut chicken and soba Noodles. It was amazing. I forgot to take a picture because it was so delicious but I highly recommended. Ask for Brittany when you come here. Outstanding waitress. I"d give the food 3 stars... not terrible but, similar to things you'd find at a chain restaurant. I ordered a flat bread and a salad and it was decent. I gave them an extra star because our waiter, Brent was GREAT! He was fun, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Excellent customer service. Placed an order online for delivery and never received it due to 3rd party delivery service (ugh I miss restaurants employing their own drivers but...) was down. I received a receipt and invoice stating payment was made. I went into BJ's the next day and the manager was very apologetic and didn't hesitate to make things right. And the pizza was excellent. Food is a 5 but service is a -4. I've gone into the restaurant a multitude of times and I am never greeted immediately as I should be in a restaurant. It takes 15 minutes for the server to come over to you and then another 10 to even get water. Once your server takes your order the food comes out fairly quickly. For the life of me I can't figure out how this Sysco food truck vittles could rank a 4 or 5! I had the previously frozen spinach stuffed mushrooms. They were the size of a nickel! That's not a stuffed mushroom! I had to look hard to find anything in them! Wow. I just cannot believe I paid $15 for a salad. WTF?! It was measly, not fresh, and had a few pieces of ahi in it. This is the last time I will go to this place since it seems like every time I go I pay a lot of money for mediocre food and small portions. The last time I went I paid way too much for a burger that was just "okay". It's a burger! You put some cheese on it, some bacon, maybe some vegetables and there ya go. Just adding some avocado, maybe some different cheese, and an "organic" vegetable on it doesn't make it worth almost $20. Seriously, just slapping the word "craft" on anything doesn't mean you can charge high prices and get away with it for too long. Over time people, who are not idiots, will catch on to you. And yes, they do have a good beer selection...but do so many other places nowadays. It's not really that big of a deal that they have a million types of beers. You can't drink them all in one day. This is a chain, and the food I have gotten here is on par with a Chili's....another chain. If you go here regularly you likely are: 1) A douche who wears team jerseys more than one day a week 2) A douche with a "phone holster" 3) A douche who thinks that your superior palate for esoteric beers makes you better than everyone else. read more

The spotty service here limits one's ability to enjoy the good food. We've now been here twice, and both visits were plagued by the same problem: unresponsive servers who made a lot of errors. Any request a member of our table had -- right down to requesting some mustard for a burger -- went totally ignored. The deep dish pizzas are priced high at $10 for the smallest one and $15 for the second-smallest, but are tasty nonetheless. Their in-house beers are awesome. Hopefully in the future the service catches up to the food, because you need both components to have a successful restaurant. read more

Went here for a soft opening, so we were only exposed to a limited menu. What we had was really good and everything that went out looked nice as well. The portions were huge and the and we had plenty to take home. I'd like to go back and try their wings, pizza and beer. Definitely a new spot on my rotation of places to eat around here. read more

I do not even know where to begin....I let's start with the pros.....cool place to go if you like beer. They had a ton of beer on tap and they offer a flight of 4, 5 oz pours for $7.95. Their happy hour ended at 6:00 pm, which was a bummer ( I missed by only a few minutes, because I thought it was 7pm. But it did offer $3 for 2 of their craft beers on tap and $50 shareable apps, and mini pizzas. I have to admit that's all the pros I have because the rest of the experience goes down hill :(. Mom and I opted for the calamari for an app. You know it's bad when the server comes over with her face squished up because the food was burnt. She stated it never comes out looking that dark. It was greasy, gummy, and not crispy at all. I asked the server for some recommendations, she stated after 2 weeks she had only tasted 1 meal and that the restaurant did not offer the servers samples of the food before the restaurant opened.... We move on the meal....The deep dish sweet pig pizza. I had high hopes for this one as many people there ordered the pizza and it looked decent. However, I was sadly disappointed. Now I like butter as much as the next southern girl, but I don't want my pizza to taste like it. Not to mention as I ate the meal, I kept thinking that something was off with the taste but could not put my finger on it. We then looked a the menu...and they forgot to add the pineapple to the pizza which was clearly in the description (and I loves my pineapple). So disappointed. I forgot to mention we had the stuffed mushrooms, which were just ok. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the server without me prompting, or asking her. Found the manager and was able to have the calamari and pizza taken off the bill. Kudos to her! The mixed drinks are also pricey, pomegranted martini (which tasted like a tart slurpee) was $10. Went at about 1 o'clock on a sunday. Was told there was a 25 min wait, a manager then came up to me as I was giving my name and told me a booth at the bar opened up, after he sat me, I sat there for 10 mins while no one greeted me, and he sat at the top of the stairs and made no move to make sure someone was coming to the table. Someone finally dropped menus off (not our server) and I waited another 10 mins to be greeted. All in all it was 25 mins before I even had a drink in front of me. Any where else, I would have left by the time it got to 25 mins with out a drink, but I really wanted to try it. I got the brussel sprout appetizer and they were burnt, and looked nothing like the picture in the menu. My entree was good, and so was the beer. Our server was sweet and attentive once she actually got to us. Next time I think I'll save this place for having a beer at the bar while I wait for Togo food. I really hope they get it together! read more

Wrote a review previously about how food was done incorrectly and also came in a much smaller portion than usual. Our waiter was a bit embarrassed, but mentioned that his job would be at risk if he tried to fix it because of the temperament of the manager at the time. We decided to ask to speak to the manager ourselves at our table and when told that the chicken was an assortment of burnt breading without any meat (we took it home to weigh it afterward to find it was a solid 30% of what is advertised) the response from the manager was "so what?" They felt that since they weren't the one that cooks it they have no control over the quality. A kitchen manager called and asked us to visit again, he said that he would be there, so we decided to visit much earlier in the day than we would usually go out. After arriving a different manager at the front was greeting guests and asked how many would be dining, after responding the rest of our party walked in behind us, two transgender individuals that while not dressed immodestly (long sleeve, plan T-shirts and jeans) are somewhat identifiable. The managers' demeanor changed, and she asked for a moment while she walked into the back. She returned with another manager, still neither of them the one we had just spoken to that invited us. This second manager told us that while we were not welcome at the restaurant at this time, to contact them and perhaps be seen at a later time with less other customers. They apologized, and we never did find out if the kitchen manager had been able to make the food correctly and after calling to see when we'd be allowed inside we were simply hung up on. Speaking to friends that manage nearby restaurants it unfortunately isn't shocking news and this location has a bit of a reputation. We have seen them raise their voices at customers, threaten them and the food was hit-or-miss, but this odd and embarrassing situation has led us to traveling to other locations even while they are farther. Certainly not the type to cause a scene or push an issue, we figured it best to not call nor attempt to visit again, and I would warn anyone that wants to avoid an embarrassing situation or poor service and food-quality to avoid. Corporate and other locations were nicer, though whenever we mention this incident they to recommend staying away from the Melbourne location and that they wish there was something they could do. Some things are best avoided it seems. read more

Late Sunday night and hungry, I think all Melbourne residents have ran into the problem.. what's open? Aside from the very played out TGIFs, Applebees, etc.. we gave one of the new restaurants by the mall a chance and BJ's kitchen is open til 12 am on Sunday! The atmosphere of this place is awesome. A mixed vibe of Yard House and World of Beer. Menu has something for everyone, and although it's not "Cheddars cheap" you will get every dollars worth with the portions sizes and quality served. The Rewards program is also a nice little niche as well! Will absolutely return again, and I hope they have the Sunday Ticket coming up this September! Update 7/31 Went back again for soup and appetizers. I would skip on their soups, nothing special for the $$ Mac n cheese snack was also below average, but stuffed artichokes were great! read more

Ordered takeout online to be picked up at 10:30 pm. Food was ready on time, but it was apparent that it had been sitting for a while as everything was lukewarm. The regular fries were either overfried or had been out for a while since they were tough and chewy, not crunchy on the exterior or fluffy inside... In hindsight, I should've gotten fast food fries for 2-3 times the quantity and quality at the same price point. The kale and roasted Brussels sprouts salad was large, however lacked kale... I didn't mind the spring mix that was used, but it would have been nice to be given the heads up that they ran out of kale (assuming that was the case). I was glad the kitchen did not mess up and left off the cheese. The side of rice pilaf was overly salty and the grains hard as rocks. Not good. The menu description listed red pepper and green onion as part of the pilaf ingredients, but none were in sight unless they were chopped into microscopic pieces. My significant other ordered lemon thyme chicken and had the same problem as me regarding his brown rice--too hard. (If I wanted Uncle Ben's prepackaged rice, I already knew where to find it. I did not need to come to BJ's.) The only part of the meal that was fairly enjoyable was the overpriced side of sautéed green beans. Despite being room temperature, they tasted great and were cooked well. Although, I would have expected more than 12 average size strands of green beans for $3.25. Some very good menu items are tavern cut pizza, burgers and fries, tomato and mozzarella salad, house salad, homemade sodas, fired mozzarella sticks, salted caramel pizzukie, and strawberry dessert. Food brought out fairly quickly after ordering. Nice decor and interior. CONS: Long wait times when you sit down, they have to solve this. Website issues preventing ordering on-line. My take out order took an extra 40 minutes. I sat at curbside for 40 minutes. The server gave me free fries and 2 sodas. They totally botched my wife's Santa Fe salad. Pan pizza not great. New Orleans Jambalaya way too spicy, almost inedible, they need to adjust this recipe. One night we ordered coffee and they had no creamer of half and half. I had a great experience here: TL;DR: Come get awesome beer and food here. Have some patience with the kitchen service, they just opened. Long Version: First of all their beer is pretty awesome; not only do they have a great selection of craft beers, but they also have a wide variety of their own brewery's beer (brewed in California but still awesome quality). Second, the food was really good. Important seeing as it is a restaurant and not solely a place for me to nerd out over beer. They have an extensive menu and a lot of different selections for those of us who want to save some calories for the copious amounts of beer to be had. I plan on coming back to try their burgers and a bunch of other items on the menu...their pizzas looked pretty awesome too. Finally, the kitchen service was pretty slow...but that is to be expected when a restaurant has just opened. What made the slow food amazing was the service our waiter and the whole waiting staff had. They accidentally sold our dessert to another table, instead of hiding the mistake and blaming it on some random occurrence they completely owned up to the mistake and told us what happened. The manager came by and gave us both a complimentary dessert voucher (of which we plan on using when we come back) and made a potentially bad situation into a positive experience.
