Our Waiter devon is absolutely amazing. He is very personable and was able to accommodate our 26 person party 1030pm. He was able to communicate with us that it was close to closing but they would do the best they can and we appreciated that. I have been a patron of BJ's Restaurant & Brewery since the one nearest me opened in 2004 and have frequented several locations in both CA and in Florida. The location in Melbourne FL has been frequented by myself as well as my friends, family and co-workers since it opened in 2015; there have been a few questionable visits but nothing that made me personally consider not returning that is until yesterday. I have been ordering the same item on the menu since 2015 at the Melbourne FL location a simple Tomato & Mozzarella salad, there was a drastic change to one key element after COVID which replaced the single large piece of lettuce with a bed of arugula however everything else remained the same. My current order has the arugula removed and the mozzarella doubled, however yesterday when it was placed in front of me I instantly pulled out a rather large piece of arugula and showed it to my server to confirm that was what I was seeing. Yes it was and we both chuckled and she stated there was some new Kitchen staff. Okay no biggie, then when I started to prep my salad to eat I noticed alarmingly huge chunks of onion which was also not normal in nearly 7 years of me consuming this it has always been tiny silvers near the size of the grated parmesan that are usually unnoticeable. I requested a separate plate so I could move my Tomato chunks and Mozzarella balls aside and then discovered huge stems, potentially from the basil but no actual Basil and the pile of onion chunks was larger than the volume of tomato pieces. In addition, the tiny pieces of green that were stuck to my Mozzarella, upon tasting, was in fact more arugula and not what should have been Basil. Now I in no way desired to get a free meal since I was still intending on eating the pieces of Tomato and Mozzarella but I was concerned that I was going to arrive 2 days later with a party of 10 and the same issue would happen so I asked for the manager to simply provide feedback in hopes he would discuss it with the kitchen staff. That managers name was Mike and he arrived in front of me with what appeared to be an instant attitude asking can I help you in a very "I don't want to deal with you attitude." I started to explain how frequently I order that item and never have the onions been enormous chunks and he immediately interrupted me and tried to justify the size has always been 1"x1" or whatever. I asked him to let me finish speaking and then showed him the large stems that was inedible and he simply turned his back on me and started to comp my meal. I was taken aback about how dismissive he was to my concerns and again reiterated that I wasn't looking for a free meal but wanted to make sure this wasn't going to happen when I returned with a large group later in the week. He again continued to be dismissive to my concerns with his back to me so I in a burst of anger called him an Ass for the way he was treating me. He then abruptly turned from the computer and asked that I leave for my rude comment (Calling him an Ass), in instant shock I gathered my things and headed to the door. Once in my car I realized his actions were now resulting in my server losing out on her tip so I decided to call the restaurant to let him know he should be compensating her since his condescending horrible attitude was the ultimate reason that she was out $20 (50% tip), again with his ugly attitude he said he "takes care of his employees" which I know for a fact is a lie based on the friendship I have with the servers at this location. I knew the conversation was fruitless at this point so I hung up the phone and will NEVER return to BJ's Restaurant & Brewery in Melbourne FL unless you get some serious training for your manager in Customer Service & Human Decency. read more

Went here for a late lunch with my wife. I warned against it going here, but she insisted. Walked in the restaurant and were greeted by the hosts, wife asks for a booth. Host response "Oh, well it's going to be a few min because we have to clean some tables". We clearly see a half empty restaurant and are staring at rows of empty booths, but whatever. So we go sit ourselves at the bar. Bartender/server seems irritated. I order a beer and my wife gets a water. That was about the most pleasant experience we have at this establishment. I order fish tacos and the wife orders a turkey burger and wants to substitute sweet potato fries for the salad that comes with the meal. The sweet potato fries come out 3 min later with no other food. We tell the server that we wanted them with her meal. About 20 min later her turkey burger comes out with the same fries that are now stone cold. About 15-20 more minutes go by as I am waiting and waiting for my food. The food order was never sent back to the kitchen. I tell the server to not send it back and cancel it. No apologies. I watched more than half of the employees not do anything and mess around our entire visit. The general manager was there and apparently doesn't know or CARE to effectively manage his staff. Poor Slow Service on a Sunday Afternoon when the when the the tables weren't even full. The Manager was playing on his phone the entire time we were there. By the time our drinks made it to the table the ice was melted. They offered a complimentary appetizer for the baby when we arrived and nearly an hour later it still hadn't. First time there for the veterans meal and one free beer. You have to go to their website and they send a code for the free beer. My husband really liked getting a free beer. They also don't limit what you can order like most places. You get $12.95 off you meal. Hubby had a hamburger and fries, so mush he couldn't finish. I had the Jambalaya was nice and spicy. Some of the better burgers in town that's where I would rate them highest 4.5 stars. Their fries are good but they skimp on fries. The small plate items are nice. The chicken lettuce wrap appetizer makes a nice size meal. My family are bigger fans of this place than I am. I am Not a huge fan of their Pizzas. Their soups are quite salty. The salads are ok, I have noticed that it appears the fried chicken strips are cold fried chicken patties that are cut up and refried to heat them up. I haven't had the desire to go to BJ's because I've always related it to the wholesale grocery store and in my head, it just didn't evoke hunger and food cravings. My wife came across one of their coupons so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is very cool and casual. There are tv's on the walls all around the perimeter playing live sports. There is a full service bar serving up whatever you feel like drinking, including, of course, their own brand of handcrafted beer. I'm not much of a beer drinker but I did try the Nutty Brewnette and it was a great accompaniment to my dinner. The only problem I had with the seating is that we were in a booth along a half wall and there were also booths on the other side of the wall so it was almost as if you were eating at the same table as these other people. It was a little distracting and you don't get much privacy in those particular seats. The menu doesn't have anything earth-shatteringly original but they do have a pretty extensive selection of foods. I decided on the half slab of pork ribs which came with 2 sides. What I was very happy to see is that they allow you to choose a bowl of one of their soups as one of your sides. Most places will allow you to add on a cup of soup for a certain amount or try to upcharge you if you want the soup as your side. Here, it's included as a side with no extra charge. I chose the clam chowder and also the white cheddar mashed potatoes. I'm not the biggest pork ribs fan because to me they are usually too tender, almost fatty, but these were as good as one can expect to get. The barbeque sauce was quite delicious. The mashed potatoes were a little on the pasty side but did have a good white cheddar taste. No complaints at all with the clam chowder. It was perfectly seasoned and had the perfect viscosity. For desert, they have their Pizookie's which are cookies baked in individual miniature pizza type pans with ice cream served on top. We got 3 mini's and chose the monkey bread, the salted caramel, and the peanut butter. They were out of this world. The cookies are crispy on the outside and so moist on the inside. I never leave room for desert but was so glad I did this time. Also, they have an app and a rewards program where you can earn points and get free stuff. read more

I have a big problem with the service at BJ's. I've been there twice for lunch and usually arrive early (11am) to avoid the crowd. Today, a coworker and I came to celebrate Veteran's day. It took about 10 minutes to get a drink to us and another 45 minutes to get our food (a burger and tacos). You can figure out how much was left of our lunch hour. When I asked about the food, I received an earful about how 20 people just sat down at the same time. This is BS because the place was mostly empty when we arrived. A table next to us had a couple that sat down after us and received their food before us. Must be the luck of the draw with the waiters there. The food was good but I was left with no time to enjoy it. That was my second attempt at BJs. There will not be a third. This could be a great place if management would step up and get the staffing right. read more

Came in with a party of 8 and sat in the bar area yesterday in a practically empty restaurant. Had possibly the WORST experience I have ever had in a restaurant. First, our server (Star) needs additional training and recognition of read, write and repeat. She put in MANY things incorrectly and then would come back and act like we did something wrong and had an attitude about HER mistake (4 times!). Unfortunately she was not the worst of this visit. The bartenders (there were 3 and an EMPTY bar) did not know how to make a single drink on the menu, had to look everything up and took over 20 minutes to make a single drink, for every drink. I wish this was an exaggeration but it was not. Then, Star finally comes to take our food order, we order three appetizers and go to order another round of drinks since they took so long to arrive each time and she tells us she needs to check on her other tables first and then will come back and refused to take our drink order and walked away. SHE TOOK 30 MINUTES TO COME BACK TO OUR TABLE. Then, once our drinks orders were taken and were finally made, Star was too busy chatting at the host stand to go pick them up so we continued to wait and watch them melt on the bar station. No manager ever came to our table or was anywhere in sight and Star didn't feel it necessary to grab one either after she continuously bombed throughout our meal. Also, the staff clearly was not paying attention to their surroundings or knowing that the Florida Tech graduation was this weekend. It was overall one of the worst experiences that I have ever had. I visited last night with my family. A party of 3. I was excited to try this new restaurant that just popped up in my area. The decor is urban industrial much like a lot of the new restaurants. The menu is a big book where the first three pages are nothing but brews, wines, and cocktails. The rest of the menu was the usual things like sandwiches, burgers, pastas and deep dish pizza, which was on my mind. So I split the medium Gourmet Five Meat deep dish with my Mom. She thoroughly enjoyed it but I found it to be rather dry , lacking cheese and sauce. The crust was crispy and had a good flavor but I had to order a side of marinara. The appetizer of artichoke bites came out late but I don't believe it was the servers fault. The manager came out and personally apologized which was very professional and appreciated. My brother ordered a personal great white pan pizza and I tried a bite. It was delicious and creamy with alfredo, chicken, mushrooms and tomatoes. The side wedge salad was delicious and they gave me extra dressing and blue cheese crumbles upon asking. I will return one day but will try the parmesan crusted chicken I was eyeing or a different pan pizza. read more

The reason I came to this BJ's is because I loved the one down near Boca, and this location is great as well! The menu is quite large so it's not hard to satisfy different tastes. Came in with some coworkers yesterday and found a familiar face. Mike had been out waiter at a previous place. We were the 2nd large party in his section and his team really rocked. The food as usual was amazing. I had the Chicken Bacon Ranch small deep dish. Fantastic. What stood out was the teamwork from the entire staff, that despite the fact that they were busy, we never lacked attention or felt rushed. And they were always smiling. We had a large party,14, and the food did not come out at one time and two items never came out..one 1/2way through and another not until everyone else was finished eating. One chicken meal was under cooked, it finally came out when everyone was finished. We had made a reservation that the manager did not enter so they were not ready for a large group, and there was another group that had the same problem. We waited for 42 minutes for our food and the restaurant was 1/2 full. THE server did not check on us at all. We got there at 8:12pm And left at 10:12pm for 3 dinners. And one was salad. The manager comped the dessert and 1/2 the bill.. The server brought it out and said the cake part of the strawberry dessert was not made right so was bringing another. Probably my last visit to this restaurant. Nothing is really good here which is a shame because it has a good ambiance. Ordered the bacon guacamole burger sans mayo, cooked medium rare. My son ordered same item but with mayo, cooked medium. Guess what- both had mayo and the kitchen runner could have cared less what the burger temp was. Sides were left off, too. No silverware, had to request drink refills (some were alcoholic so you'd think that would be a no brainer for the server). Pointed out issues to server who said, "Oh, ok." SMH read more

Well I was so excited to go and try out their dishes that are Keto friendly but was disappointed with a few things. Let me start with the good. The lemon chicken was OK as were the mushrooms. When we ordered we asked the waitress to order the mushrooms first then the salad and then the dinner after so it would be hot... well the salad came first and as we started eating the mushrooms came. So we started the shrooms as they were hot and then our meals came .. ugh .. so the wedge salad came with barely any blue cheese dressing on it and what I would say was not even a teaspoon of bacon so first I asked the waitress for blue cheese ( thinking we would find more bacon... not)and she brought it to me and then I mentioned the bacon and she checked with the manager who said that it only comes with that much is that OK I said no but I guess I will never order it again. The manager never attempted to check/ask what the salad looked like. Needless to say our dinner was lukewarm... we asked for a plate to cover to keep warm (you think she would've asked to take it back to keep it warm or heated up) The waitress then brought us our check and proceeded to stand there and wait for us to take out our credit cards.. I had to tell her to give us a few minutes to look at the check and get our money out. I do you like their menu and will try again and order accordingly ... also request a different waitress if need be. And a footnote ... their liquor (not well) is very expensive. read more

We've been to Bj's restaurant before. And the food was ok. One really good item is the avocado egg rolls. But this trip was pretty disappointing. We ordered the avocado egg rolls. Then found out they were out. Then we placed our lunch meal choice. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. Very disappointing. The chicken was not tender. Kind of stringy. The fries were limp. I just couldn't eat it. And I did tell waiter I didn't want it. But he didn't seem too concerned that I was unhappy with the meal. And it wasn't taken off the receipt. It's just not good business. You want your customers to be happy so they come back. Not happy and not likely to go back. read more
